• UITextInput setMarkedText:selectedRange not working? (Can't be!)

  I want to set the marked text programmatically and since iOS5 UITextView and UITextField conform to UITextInput this should be possible but for some reason I always get the markedText to be nil. :( What am I missing here? This is what I've tried without success: (While the textview is firstResponder) 1.- When the text view contains no text: text: "", selectedRange : {0,0}, markedText: nil. [_textView setMarkedText:@"?" selectedRange:NSMakeRange(0, 1)]; Result: text : "", selectedRange: {0,0}, markedText: nil. (Nothing changed) 2.- When the text view contains text + some marked text: text : "AAA", selectedRange = {0,3}, marked text at the end : "??" then I do: [_textView setMarkedText:@"?" selectedRangeNSMakeRange(0,3)]; Result : text :"AAA", selectedRange: {0,3}, markedText: nil; (the marked text became nil) In both cases is like setMarkedText:selectedRange: would be setting the current marked text (if some) to nil. • How do I get date form week, working also with 53-week years? c#

  Hey, I have made a function to cound the weeks in a year, and that works fine. The problem is that I need a method to get the mondaydate of the week. This is a swedish calendar. The code below works well for years that have 52 weeks, but some years(like 2009) has 53 weeks. Then I got a date from januari as the mondaydate(cant be right). So please help me to get it to work for all years. What I probably could do is check if the year has 53 weeks and then do some checks but I'd like it to go smooth without special checks. Every now and again, I meet a fantastic coder who has it clocked; they are up to date with the latest dev news, have time to read about good programming practices, and to finish it off, have happy wives/husbands and families. • How do you handle the deletion of your model working with ViewModels and keeping them in sync ?

  Hello, these could be my entity relations: 1 Pupil has 1 Chair 1 Pupil has N Documents 1 Pupil has N Marks 1 Pupil has N IncidentReports etc... So with that sample I get 4 IEnumerable from my database put each into an ObservableCollection. Now I have 4 different Views each bound to one of those 4 collections. Lets assume I delete a single PupilViewModel in the AdministrationController which is the only View where I can delete a PupilViewModel. Now I have to inform 3 other Controller and their ObservableCollections about the one deleted PupilViewModel to keep the whole application synchronized... thats stupid somehow. Do you have any good advice on that scenario? AND it gets even worse. If I delete a schoolclass I have to sync the pupils everywhere AND the documents or incidentreports or marks... gush... o_O

• Why would javascript click-areas not be working in IE8?

Since the above HTML is generated by a third party control (Janus, http://www.janusys.com/controls), we don't have the source code. has anyone experienced any similar problems with IE8? I've determined that it actually fires the onMouseDownCommand command also the CSS of the button area is different in IE8, it doesn't have color shading that it does in IE7. I can imagine that somewhere the HTML is not valid and IE8 being stricter is not playing along, but where? any advice on how to narrow in on this bug welcome ANSWER: Turned out to be that the application was not checking the navigator.agent for "MSIE 8.0" and was thus treating IE8 has a non-Internet-Explorer browser. Thanks Lazarus for the tip, the IE8 Javascript debugger is very nice, like a Firebug for IE, will be using it more!

• ShowWindow not working from a DLL on a 64-bit OS?

In the DLL that processes the events, I conditionally call ShowWindow on the handle of the window of the process who set the hook. That code works perfectly on a 32-bit OS (XP) and as a 32-bit application on a 64-bit OS, but when compiled to 64-bit, the window is not showing. • PHP mysqli Insert not working, but not giving any errors.

  As the title says Im trying to do a simple insert, but nothing actually is inserted into the table. I try to print out errors, but nothing is reported. Cygwin version is CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64 1.7.7(0.230/5/3) 2010-08-31 09:58 i686 Cygwin In my makefile used to build the source, when i say VERBOSE=yes, i still do not see detailed commands and options used to compile,link the code. So basically VEROBSE=yes behaviour seems to be same as VERBOSE=no. Pls. note that the compiler (sparc-elf-gcc) which the make command invokes, is configured with --verbose option. I verified that by checking sparc-elf-gcc -v . Is this switch removed/deprecated for this particular gnumake/cygwin versions or any pointers on how I can see details of the make/compile/link commands. thank you. -AD.

• Setting up Django on an internal server (os.environ() not working as expected?)

  I'm trying to setup Django on an internal company server. (No external connection to the Internet.) Looking over the server setup documentation it appears that the "Running Django on a shared-hosting provider with Apache" method seems to be the most-likely to work in this situation. Here's the server information: Can't install mod_python no root access Server is SunOs 5.6 Python 2.5 Apache/2.0.46 I've installed Django (and flup) using the --prefix option (reading again I probably should've used --home, but at the moment it doesn't seem to matter) I've added the .htaccess file and mysite.fcgi file to my root web directory as mentioned here. When I run the mysite.fcgi script from the server I get my expected output (the correct site HTML output). But, it won't when trying to access it from a browser. It seems that it may be a problem with the PYTHONPATH setting since I'm using the prefix option. I've noticed that if I run mysite.fcgi from the command-line without setting the PYTHONPATH enviornment variable it throws the following error: prompt$ python2.5 mysite.fcgi ERROR: No module named flup Unable to load the flup package. In order to run django as a FastCGI application, you will need to get flup from http://www.saddi.com/software/flup/ If you've already installed flup, then make sure you have it in your PYTHONPATH. I've added sys.path.append(prefixpath) and os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = prefixpath to mysite.fcgi, but if I set the enviornment variable to be empty on the command-line then run mysite.fcgi, I still get the above error. Here are some command-line results: >>> os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = 'Null' >>> >>> os.system('echo $PYTHONPATH') Null >>> os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = '/prefix/path' >>> >>> os.system('echo $PYTHONPATH') /prefix/path >>> exit() prompt$ echo $PYTHONPATH Null It looks like Python is setting the variable OK, but the variable is only applicable inside of the script. Flup appears to be distributed as an .egg file, and my guess is that the egg implementation doesn't take into account variables added by os.environ['key'] = value (?) at least when installing via the --prefix option.   I have an .Net 3.5 based web service running at http://localhost/serivce.svc/. Then I have a Asp.Net application running at http://localhost/myApp. In Application_Load my App reads some XML configuration from the web service. That works fine on my machine, but: On Vista with IIS7 the request to the web services fails. The web service can be accessed via the browser without any problem. I configured the app pool of my App to run as admin. I added the admin to the IIS_USRS group, but it still cannot access the web service. impersonate=true/false seems not to make a difference.

  I'm using all of the below to take a field called 'code' from my database, get rid of all the HTML entities, and print it 'as usual' to the site: <?php $code = preg_replace('~&#x([0-9a-f]+);~ei', 'chr(hexdec("\\1"))', $code); $code = preg_replace('~&#([0-9]+);~e', 'chr("\\1")', $code); $code = html_entity_decode($code); ?> However the exported code still looks like this: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src=’img/the_image.png’); See what's going on there? Here are the steps I followed: 1) I mapped the www.mydomain.com CNAME to my azuresite.cloudapp.net 2) I procured an SSL certificate for www.mydomain.com and properly installed it at my azuresite.cloudapp.net hosted service project 3) I deployed my WCF REST service to Azure and started it. Below is my web.config configuration. The http (non-https) binding version worked correctly. My service URL, http: //www.mydomain .com/service.svc/sessions worked just fine. When I deployed the project with the web.config below, enabling SSL, https: //www.mydomain .com/service.svc/sessions does not even pull up at all. • Why is my logic not working correctly for SPOJ TOPOSORT?

  The given problem is http://www.spoj.com/problems/TOPOSORT/ The output format is particularly important as : Print "Sandro fails." if Sandro cannot complete all his duties on the list. If there is a solution print the correct ordering, the jobs to be done separated by a whitespace. If there are multiple solutions print the one, whose first number is smallest, if there are still multiple solutions, print the one whose second number is smallest, and so on. What I am doing is simply doing dfs by reversing the edges i.e if job A finishes before job B, there is a directed edge from B to A . I am maintaining the order by sorting the adjacency list I created and storing the nodes which don't have any constraints separately so as to print them later in correct order . There are two flag arrays used , one for marking discovered node and one for marking the node whose all neighbors have been explored. Now my solution is http://www.ideone.com/QCUmKY (the important function is the visit funtion ) and its giving WA after running correct for 10 cases so its really hard to figure out where am I doing it wrong since it runs for all of the test cases which I have done by hand.

• Is there any working implementation of reverse mode automatic differentiation for Haskell?

  The closest-related implementation in Haskell I have seen is the forward mode at http://hackage.haskell.org/packages/archive/fad/1.0/doc/html/Numeric-FAD.html. The closest related related research appears to be reverse mode for another functional language related to Scheme at http://www.bcl.hamilton.ie/~qobi/stalingrad/. I see reverse mode in Haskell as kind of a holy grail for a lot of tasks, with the hopes that it could use Haskell's nested data parallelism to gain a nice speedup in heavy numerical optimization.
