  • Label in PyQt4 GUI not updating with every loop of FOR loop

    - by user297920
    I'm having a problem, where I wish to run several command line functions from a python program using a GUI. I don't know if my problem is specific to PyQt4 or if it has to do with my bad use of python code. What I wish to do is have a label on my GUI change its text value to inform the user which command is being executed. My problem however, arises when I run several commands using a for loop. I would like the label to update itself with every loop, however, the program is not updating the GUI label with every loop, instead, it only updates itself once the entire loop is completed, and displays only the last command that was executed. I am using PyQt4 for my GUI environment. And I have established that the text variable for the label is indeed being updated with every loop, but, it is not actually showing up visually in the GUI. Is there a way for me to force the label to update itself? I have tried the update() and repaint() methods within the loop, but they don't make any difference. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you. Ronny. Here is the code I am using: # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- import sys, os from PyQt4 import QtGui, QtCore Gui = QtGui Core = QtCore # ================================================== CREATE WINDOW OBJECT CLASS class Win(Gui.QWidget): def __init__(self, parent = None): Gui.QWidget.__init__(self, parent) # --------------------------------------------------- SETUP PLAY BUTTON self.but1 = Gui.QPushButton("Run Commands",self) self.but1.setGeometry(10,10, 200, 100) # -------------------------------------------------------- SETUP LABELS self.label1 = Gui.QLabel("No Commands running", self) self.label1.move(10, 120) # ------------------------------------------------------- SETUP ACTIONS self.connect(self.but1, Core.SIGNAL("clicked()"), runCommands) # ======================================================= RUN COMMAND FUNCTION def runCommands(): for i in commands: win.label1.setText(i) # Make label display the command being run print win.label1.text() # This shows that the value is actually # changing with every loop, but its just not # being reflected in the GUI label os.system(i) # ======================================================================== MAIN # ------------------------------------------------------ THE TERMINAL COMMANDS com1 = "espeak 'senntence 1'" com2 = "espeak 'senntence 2'" com3 = "espeak 'senntence 3'" com4 = "espeak 'senntence 4'" com5 = "espeak 'senntence 5'" commands = (com1, com2, com3, com4, com5) # --------------------------------------------------- SETUP THE GUI ENVIRONMENT app = Gui.QApplication(sys.argv) win = Win() win.show() sys.exit(app.exec_())

  • Play mp3 using Python, PyQt, and Phonon

    - by KeyboardInterrupt
    I been trying all day to figure out the Qt's Phonon library with Python. My long term goal is to see if I could get it to play a mms:// stream, but since I can't find an implementation of this done anywhere, I will figure that part out myself. (figured I'd put it out there if anyone knew more about this specifically, if not no big deal.) Anyway, I figured I'd work backwards from a working example I found online. This launches a file browser and will play the mp3 file specified. I wanted to strip out the file browser stuff and get it down to the essentials of executing the script and having it play an Mp3 file with a hardcoded path. I'm assuming my problem is a misunderstanding of setCurrentSource() and specifying the data types. (see: http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/static/Docs/PyQt4/html/phonon-mediasource.html#fileName) I'm keeping my question kind of broad because ANY help with understanding Phonon would be greatly appreciated. import sys from PyQt4.QtGui import QApplication, QMainWindow, QDirModel, QColumnView from PyQt4.QtGui import QFrame from PyQt4.QtCore import SIGNAL from PyQt4.phonon import Phonon class MainWindow(QMainWindow): m_model = QDirModel() def __init__(self): QMainWindow.__init__(self) self.m_fileView = QColumnView(self) self.m_media = None self.setCentralWidget(self.m_fileView) self.m_fileView.setModel(self.m_model) self.m_fileView.setFrameStyle(QFrame.NoFrame) self.connect(self.m_fileView, SIGNAL("updatePreviewWidget(const QModelIndex &)"), self.play) def play(self, index): self.delayedInit() self.m_media.setCurrentSource( Phonon.MediaSource(self.m_model.filePath(index))) self.m_media.play() def delayedInit(self): if not self.m_media: self.m_media = Phonon.MediaObject(self) audioOutput = Phonon.AudioOutput(Phonon.MusicCategory, self) Phonon.createPath(self.m_media, audioOutput) def main(): app = QApplication(sys.argv) QApplication.setApplicationName("Phonon Tutorial 2 (Python)") mw = MainWindow() mw.show() sys.exit(app.exec_()) if __name__ == '__main__': main()

  • How to update a QPixmap in a QGraphicsView with PyQt

    - by pops
    I am trying to paint on a QPixmap inside a QGraphicsView. The painting works fine, but the QGraphicsView doesn't update it. Here is some working code: #!/usr/bin/env python from PyQt4 import QtCore from PyQt4 import QtGui class Canvas(QtGui.QPixmap): """ Canvas for drawing""" def __init__(self, parent=None): QtGui.QPixmap.__init__(self, 64, 64) self.parent = parent self.imH = 64 self.imW = 64 self.fill(QtGui.QColor(0, 255, 255)) self.color = QtGui.QColor(0, 0, 0) def paintEvent(self, point=False): if point: p = QtGui.QPainter(self) p.setPen(QtGui.QPen(self.color, 1, QtCore.Qt.SolidLine)) p.drawPoints(point) def clic(self, mouseX, mouseY): self.paintEvent(QtCore.QPoint(mouseX, mouseY)) class GraphWidget(QtGui.QGraphicsView): """ Display, zoom, pan...""" def __init__(self): QtGui.QGraphicsView.__init__(self) self.im = Canvas(self) self.imH = self.im.height() self.imW = self.im.width() self.zoomN = 1 self.scene = QtGui.QGraphicsScene(self) self.scene.setItemIndexMethod(QtGui.QGraphicsScene.NoIndex) self.scene.setSceneRect(0, 0, self.imW, self.imH) self.scene.addPixmap(self.im) self.setScene(self.scene) self.setTransformationAnchor(QtGui.QGraphicsView.AnchorUnderMouse) self.setResizeAnchor(QtGui.QGraphicsView.AnchorViewCenter) self.setMinimumSize(400, 400) self.setWindowTitle("pix") def mousePressEvent(self, event): if event.buttons() == QtCore.Qt.LeftButton: pos = self.mapToScene(event.pos()) self.im.clic(pos.x(), pos.y()) #~ self.scene.update(0,0,64,64) #~ self.updateScene([QtCore.QRectF(0,0,64,64)]) self.scene.addPixmap(self.im) print('items') print(self.scene.items()) else: return QtGui.QGraphicsView.mousePressEvent(self, event) def wheelEvent(self, event): if event.delta() > 0: self.scaleView(2) elif event.delta() < 0: self.scaleView(0.5) def scaleView(self, factor): n = self.zoomN * factor if n < 1 or n > 16: return self.zoomN = n self.scale(factor, factor) if __name__ == '__main__': import sys app = QtGui.QApplication(sys.argv) widget = GraphWidget() widget.show() sys.exit(app.exec_()) The mousePressEvent does some painting on the QPixmap. But the only solution I have found to update the display is to make a new instance (which is not a good solution). How do I just update it?

  • Cheetah with Cherrypy: how to load base templates, and do so automatically on change during developm

    - by Heikki Toivonen
    I am working on a cherrypy+cheetah app and would like to improve the development experience. I have everything working when I manually compile templates beforehand. However, during development I'd rather just load the templates every time they are referenced so that I don't need to kill and restart my application. I have a couple of issues I am facing: If I have templates inheriting from base templates, I get import errors (can't find base templates). I think I had this actually working during my experiments, but unfortunately didn't save it and now I can't make it work. Suppose I get 1. working, how do make it so that edits even in base templates get picked up without restart. Below is my sample application that should demonstrate the problems. The directory structure is as follows: t.py templates/ base.tmpl index.tmpl t.py: import sys import cherrypy from Cheetah.Template import Template class T: def __init__(self, foo): self.foo = foo @cherrypy.expose def index(self): return Template(file='templates/index.tmpl', searchList=[{'foo': self.foo}]).respond() cherrypy.quickstart(T(sys.argv[1])) base.tmpl: #def body This is the body from the base #end def This is the base doc index.tmpl: #from templates.base import base #extends base #def body $base.body(self) This is the extended body #end def This is from index Run it like this: python t.py Something

  • CreateProcess doesn't pass command line arguments

    - by mnh
    Hello I have the following code but it isn't working as expected, can't figure out what the problem is. Basically, I'm executing a process (a .NET process) and passing it command line arguments, it is executed successfully by CreateProcess() but CreateProcess() isn't passing the command line arguments What am I doing wrong here?? int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { PROCESS_INFORMATION ProcessInfo; //This is what we get as an [out] parameter STARTUPINFO StartupInfo; //This is an [in] parameter ZeroMemory(&StartupInfo, sizeof(StartupInfo)); StartupInfo.cb = sizeof StartupInfo ; //Only compulsory field LPTSTR cmdArgs = "[email protected]"; if(CreateProcess("D:\\email\\smtp.exe", cmdArgs, NULL,NULL,FALSE,0,NULL, NULL,&StartupInfo,&ProcessInfo)) { WaitForSingleObject(ProcessInfo.hProcess,INFINITE); CloseHandle(ProcessInfo.hThread); CloseHandle(ProcessInfo.hProcess); printf("Yohoo!"); } else { printf("The process could not be started..."); } return 0; } EDIT: Hey one more thing, if I pass my cmdArgs like this: // a space as the first character LPTSTR cmdArgs = " [email protected]"; Then I get the error, then CreateProcess returns TRUE but my target process isn't executed. Object reference not set to an instance of an object

  • Help debugging c fifos code - stack smashing detected - open call not functioning - removing pipes

    - by nunos
    I have three bugs/questions regarding the source code pasted below: stack smashing deteced: In order to compile and not have that error I have addedd the gcc compile flag -fno-stack-protector. However, this should be just a temporary solution, since I would like to find where the cause for this is and correct it. However, I haven't been able to do so. Any clues? For some reason, the last open function call doesn't work and the programs just stops there, without an error, even though the fifo already exists. I want to delete the pipes from the filesystem after before terminating the processes. I have added close and unlink statements at the end, but the fifos are not removed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance. P.S.: I am pasting here the whole source file for additional clarity. • Spikes in Socket Performance

    - by Harun Prasad
    We are facing random spikes in high throughput transaction processing system using sockets for IPC. Below is the setup used for the run: The client opens and closes new connection for every transaction, and there are 4 exchanges between the server and the client. We have disabled the TIME_WAIT, by setting the socket linger (SO_LINGER) option via getsockopt as we thought that the spikes were caused due to the sockets waiting in TIME_WAIT. There is no processing done for the transaction. Only messages are passed. OS used Centos 5.4 The average round trip time is around 3 milli seconds, but some times the round trip time ranges from 100 milli seconds to couple of seconds. Steps used for Execution and Measurement and output Starting the server $ python sockServerLinger.py /dev/null & Starting the client to post 1 million transactions to the server. And logs the time for a transaction in the client.log file. $ python sockClient.py 1000000 client.log Once the execution finishes the following command will show the execution time greater than 100 milliseconds in the format <line_number>:<execution_time>. $ grep -n "0.[1-9]" client.log | less Below is the example code for Server and Client. • Cocoa Bindings and Application Preferences - Crash

    - by iaefai
    Using the document provided by Apple to create an application preferences window that doesn't require any extra code, I seem to have triggered a crash that cannot be traced by me. While the stuff from Apple is older, I believe I have the settings pretty much the same as shown here: When I run my application (Hcode) and go to the preferences menu item, it brings up the proper window with the defaults I specified in the bindings with the exception of the Spaces per tab is blank (no idea how to fix this). When the window is closed, the application crashes with a backtrace similar to this: (gdb) bt #0 0x00007fff800cb1d4 in objc_msgSend_vtable5 () #1 0x00007fff80447cf3 in -[NSMenu _enableItem:] () #2 0x00007fff80447ad8 in -[NSCarbonMenuImpl _carbonUpdateStatusEvent:handlerCallRef:] () #3 0x00007fff8042b3b0 in NSSLMMenuEventHandler () #4 0x00007fff80e06b57 in DispatchEventToHandlers () #5 0x00007fff80e060a6 in SendEventToEventTargetInternal () #6 0x00007fff80e23d85 in SendEventToEventTarget () #7 0x00007fff80e52e61 in SendHICommandEvent () #8 0x00007fff80e66357 in UpdateHICommandStatusWithCachedEvent () #9 0x00007fff80e02a6d in HIApplication::EventHandler () #10 0x00007fff80e06b57 in DispatchEventToHandlers () #11 0x00007fff80e060a6 in SendEventToEventTargetInternal () #12 0x00007fff80e23d85 in SendEventToEventTarget () #13 0x00007fff80e6599b in SendMenuOpening () #14 0x00007fff80e65388 in DrawTheMenu () #15 0x00007fff80e65149 in MenuChanged () #16 0x00007fff80e643d4 in TrackMenuCommon () #17 0x00007fff80e60dbe in MenuSelectCore () #18 0x00007fff80e60596 in _HandleMenuSelection2 () #19 0x00007fff802fc3b9 in _NSHandleCarbonMenuEvent () #20 0x00007fff802cfeda in _DPSNextEvent () #21 0x00007fff802cf379 in -[NSApplication nextEventMatchingMask:untilDate:inMode:dequeue:] () #22 0x00007fff8029505b in -[NSApplication run] () #23 0x00007fff8028dd7c in NSApplicationMain () #24 0x0000000100001cac in main (argc=1, argv=0x7fff5fbff5e0) at /Users/iaefai/Projects/Hcode/Source/main.m:13 I am at a complete loss as to what the problem is. • Migration for creating and deleting model in South

    - by Almad
    I've created a model and created initial migration for it: db.create_table('tvguide_tvguide', ( ('id', models.AutoField(primary_key=True)), ('date', models.DateField(_('Date'), auto_now=True, db_index=True)), )) db.send_create_signal('tvguide', ['TVGuide']) models = { 'tvguide.tvguide': { 'channels': ('models.ManyToManyField', ["orm['tvguide.Channel']"], {'through': "'ChannelInTVGuide'"}), 'date': ('models.DateField', ["_('Date')"], {'auto_now': 'True', 'db_index': 'True'}), 'id': ('models.AutoField', [], {'primary_key': 'True'}) } } complete_apps = ['tvguide'] Now, I'd like to drop it: db.drop_table('tvguide_tvguide') However, I have also deleted corresponding model.   • Perl : get substring which matches regex error

    - by Michael Mao
    I am very new to Perl, so please bear with my simple question: Here is the sample output: Most successful agents in the Emarket climate are (in order of success): 1. agent10896761 ($-8008) 2. flightsandroomsonly ($-10102) 3. agent10479475hv ($-10663) Most successful agents in the Emarket climate are (in order of success): 1. agent10896761 ($-7142) 2. agent10479475hv ($-8982) 3. flightsandroomsonly ($-9124) I am interested only in agent names as well as their corresponding balances, so I am hoping to get the following output: agent10896761 -8008 flightsandroomsonly -10102 agent10479475hv -10663 agent10896761 -7142 agent10479475hv -8982 flightsandroomsonly -9124 For later processes. This is the code I've got so far: #!/usr/bin/perl -w open(MYINPUTFILE, $ARGV[0]); while(<MYINPUTFILE>) { my($line) = $_; chomp($line); # regex match test if($line =~ m/agent10479475/) { if($line =~ m/($-[0-9]+)/) { print "$1\n"; } } if($line =~ m/flightsandroomsonly/) { print "$line\n"; } } The second regex match has nothing wrong, 'cause that is printing out the whole line. However, for the first regex match, I've got some other output such like: $ ./compareResults.pl 3.txt 2. flightsandroomsonly ($-10102) 0479475 0479475 3. flightsandroomsonly ($-9124) 1. flightsandroomsonly ($-8053) 0479475 1. flightsandroomsonly ($-6126) 0479475 If I "escape" the braces like this if($line =~ m/\($-[0-9]+\)/) { print "$1\n"; } Then there is never a match for the first regex... So I'm stuck with a problem of making that particular regex work. Any hints for this? Many thanks in advance.

  • Qt, no such slot error

    - by Martin Beckett
    I'm having a strange problem with slots in Qt4.6 I have a tree control that I am trying to fire an event back to the mainwindow to edit something. I have boiled it down to this minimal example: class MainWindow : public QMainWindow { Q_OBJECT public: MainWindow(int argc, char **argv ); private Q_SLOTS: void about() {QMessageBox::about(this, "about","about"); } // Just the defaul about box void doEditFace() {QMessageBox::about(this, "test","doEditFace"); } // pretty identical .... } class TreeModel : public QAbstractItemModel { Q_OBJECT Q_SIGNALS: void editFace(); ... } In my Mainwindow() I have connect(treeModel, SIGNAL(editFace()), this, SLOT(about())); // returns true connect(treeModel, SIGNAL(editFace()), this, SLOT(doEditFace())); // returns false When I run it the second line gives a warning. Object::connect: No such slot MainWindow::doEditFace() in \src\mainwindow.cpp:588 As far as I can see the doEditFace() is in the moc_ qmeta class perfectly correctly. And the edit event fires and pops up the about box. The order doesn't matterm if I connect the about box second it still works but my slot doesnt! vS2008 windowsXP qt4.6.2

  • Odd difference between Python 2.5 and Python 2.6 on MacOS 10.6 using ctypes and libproc proc_pidinfo

    - by cemasoniv
    I'm trying to determine the current working directory of a process given its PID. The command-line utility lsof does something similar. Here's the source to the python script: import ctypes from ctypes import util import sys PROC_PIDVNODEPATHINFO = 9 proc = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary(util.find_library("libproc")) print(proc.proc_pidinfo) class vnode_info(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('data', ctypes.c_ubyte * 152)] class vnode_info_path(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('vip_vi', vnode_info), ('vip_path', ctypes.c_char * 1024)] class proc_vnodepathinfo(ctypes.Structure): _fields_ = [('pvi_cdir', vnode_info_path), ('pvi_rdir', vnode_info_path)] inst = proc_vnodepathinfo() pid = int(sys.argv[1]) ret = proc.proc_pidinfo( pid, PROC_PIDVNODEPATHINFO, 0, ctypes.byref(inst), ctypes.sizeof(inst) ) print(ret, inst.pvi_cdir.vip_path) However, even though this script behaves as expected on Python 2.6, it does not work in Python 2.5: host:dir user$ sudo /usr/bin/python2.6 script.py 2698 <_FuncPtr object at 0x100419ae0> (2352, '/') host:dir user$ sudo /usr/bin/python2.5 script.py 2698 <_FuncPtr object at 0x19fdc0> (0, '') (PID 2698 is "Activity Monitor.app"). Note the different return values. Since this program strongly based on ctypes, I can't imagine any difference in Python itself that would cause this. The same behavior (as Python 2.5) occurs with my self-built Python 3.2. I'm not sure what versioning information I can give to help track down the weirdness -- or even come up with a solution for 2.5 -- but here's some stuff: host:dir user$ otool -L /usr/bin/python2.6 /usr/bin/python2.6: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) host:dir user$ otool -L /usr/bin/python2.5 /usr/bin/python2.5 (architecture i386): /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) /usr/bin/python2.5 (architecture ppc7400): /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.2.0) host:dir user$ uname -a Darwin host.local 10.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.8.0: Tue Jun 7 16:33:36 PDT 2011; root:xnu-1504.15.3~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 Thanks to anyone that has a clue about what's going on here:)

  • multiple compiling errors with basic C++ application on VS2010 Beta 1

    - by ratata
    I just recently installed VS2010 Beta 1 from the Microsoft website , I started a basic C++ Win32 Console Application , that generated the following code: #include "stdafx.h" int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { return 0; } I tried compiling the code just to see how it runs and just then I encountered several(over a 100) compiling errors. Here is the first part of the build output: 1>ClCompile: 1> stdafx.cpp 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2065: '_In_opt_z_' : undeclared identifier 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before 'const' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): warning C4229: anachronism used : modifiers on data are ignored 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2182: '_invalid_parameter' : illegal use of type 'void' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2491: '_invalid_parameter' : definition of dllimport data not allowed 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(520): error C2059: syntax error : ')' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): error C2065: '_In_opt_z_' : undeclared identifier 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' before 'const' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\crtdefs.h(527): warning C4229: anachronism used : modifiers on data are ignored pastebin for the full list I thought maybe the include files got mixed up by some other compiler version I have installed previously( I have VS 2008 as well) so I reinstalled VS2010 just to overwrite the headers but that didn't do much. Thanks in advance for any help you might offer as I am helpless

  • PDCurses TUI C++ Win32 console app - Access violation reading location

    - by Bach
    I have downloaded pdcurses source and was able to successfully include curses.h in my project, linked the pre-compiled library and all good. After few hours of trying out the library, I saw the tuidemo.c in the demos folder, compiled it into an executable and brilliant! exactly what I needed for my project. Now the problem is that it's a C code, and I am working on a C++ project in VS c++ 2008. The files I need are tui.c and tui.h How can I include that C file in my C++ code? I saw few suggestions here but the compiler was not too happy with 100's of warnings and errors. How can I go on including/using that TUI pdcurses includes!? Thanks EDIT: I added extern "C" statement, so my test looks like this now, but I'm getting some other type of error #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> using namespace std; extern "C" { #include <tui.h> } void sub0(void) { //do nothing } void sub1(void) { //do nothing } int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { menu MainMenu[] = { { "Asub", sub0, "Go inside first submenu" }, { "Bsub", sub1, "Go inside second submenu" }, { "", (FUNC)0, "" } /* always add this as the last item! */ }; startmenu(MainMenu, "TUI - 'textual user interface' demonstration program"); return 0; } Although it is compiling successfully, it is throwing an Error at runtime, which suggests a bad pointer: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x021c52f9 at line startmenu(MainMenu, "TUI - 'textual user interface' demonstration program"); Not sure where to go from here. thanks again.

  • How do I test OpenCL on GPU when logged in remotely on Mac?

    - by Christopher Bruns
    My OpenCL program can find the GPU device when I am logged in at the console, but not when I am logged in remotely with ssh. Further, if I run the program as root in the ssh session, the program can find the GPU. The computer is a Snow Leopard Mac with a GeForce 9400 GPU. If I run the program (see below) from the console or as root, the output is as follows (notice the "GeForce 9400" line): 2 devices found Device #0 name = GeForce 9400 Device #1 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz but if it is just me, over ssh, there is no GeForce 9400 entry: 1 devices found Device #0 name = Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz I would like to test my code on the GPU without having to be root. Is that possible? Simplified GPU finding program below: #include <stdio.h> #include <OpenCL/opencl.h> int main(int argc, char** argv) { char dname[500]; size_t namesize; cl_device_id devices[10]; cl_uint num_devices; int d; clGetDeviceIDs(0, CL_DEVICE_TYPE_ALL, 10, devices, &num_devices); printf("%d devices found\n", num_devices); for (d = 0; d < num_devices; ++d) { clGetDeviceInfo(devices[d], CL_DEVICE_NAME, 500, dname, &namesize); printf("Device #%d name = %s\n", d, dname); } return 0; } EDIT: I found essentially the same question being asked on nvidia's forums. Unfortunately, the only answer was of the form "this is the wrong forum".

But please don't tell me the answer how to do it properly. I'm trying to figure it out myself. The only think I would like to know if I'm deleting my memory in proper way. Thanks.

However, whenever I pass it any Kanji characters, the parse() method is returning U_INVALID_FORMAT_ERROR. Does anyone know if ICU supports Kanji character strings in the NumberFormat::parse() method? I was hoping that since I'm setting the Locale to Japanese that it would be able to parse Kanji numeric values. Thanks! #include <iostream> #include <unicode/numfmt.h> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char **argv) { const Locale &jaLocale = Locale::getJapan(); UErrorCode status = U_ZERO_ERROR; NumberFormat *nf = NumberFormat::createInstance(jaLocale, status); UChar number[] = {0x4E94}; // Character for '5' in Japanese '?' UnicodeString numStr(number); Formattable formattable; nf->parse(numStr, formattable, status); if (U_FAILURE(status)) { cout << "error parsing as number: " << u_errorName(status) << endl; return(1); } cout << "long value: " << formattable.getLong() << endl; }

  • Debugging MinGW program with gdb on Windows, not terminating at assert failure

    - by devil
    How do I set up gdb on window so that it does not allow a program with assertion failure to terminate? I intend to check the stack trace and variables in the program. For example, running this test.cpp program compiled with MinGW 'g++ -g test.cpp -o test' in gdb: #include <cassert> int main(int argc, char ** argv) { assert(1==2); return 0; } Gives: $ gdb test.exe GNU gdb 6.8 Copyright (C) 2008 Free Software Foundation, Inc. License GPLv3+: GNU GPL version 3 or later <http://gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html> This is free software: you are free to change and redistribute it. There is NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law. Type "show copying" and "show warranty" for details. This GDB was configured as "i686-pc-mingw32"... (gdb) r Starting program: f:\code/test.exe [New thread 4616.0x1200] Error: dll starting at 0x77030000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x75f80000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x77030000 not found. Error: dll starting at 0x76f30000 not found. Assertion failed: 1==2, file test.cpp, line 2 This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Program exited with code 03. (gdb) I would like to be able to stop the program from terminating immediately, like how Visual Studio's debugger and gdb on Linux does it. I have done a search and found some stuff on trapping signals but I can't seem to find a good post on how to set up gdb to do this.

  • Unhandled Exception with c++ app on Visual Studio 2008 release build - occurs when returning from fu

    - by Rich
    Hi, I have a (rather large) application that I have written in C++ and until recently it has been running fine outside of visual studio from the release build. However, now, whenever I run it it says "Unhandled exception at 0x77cf205b in myprog.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x45000200.", and leads me to "crtexe.c" at line 582 ("mainret = main(argc, argv, envp);") if I attempt to debug it. Note that this problem never shows if I run my debug executable outside of visual studio, or if I run my debug or release build within visual studio. It only happens when running the release build outside of visual studio. I have been through and put plenty of printfs and a couple of while(1)s in it to see when it actually crashed, and found that the access violation occurs at exactly the point that the value is returned from the function (I'm returning a pointer to an object). I don't fully understand why I would get an access violation at the point it returns, and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm returning as it still occurs when I return 0. The point it started crashing was when I added a function which does a lot of reading from a file using ifstream. I am opening the stream every time I attempt to read a new file and close it when I finish reading it. If I keep attempting to run it, it will run once in about 20 tries. It seems a lot more reliable if I run it off my pen drive (it seems to crash the first 3 or 4 times then run fine after that - maybe it's due to its slower read speed). Thanks for your help, and if I've missed anything let me know.
