  • Share Truecrypt container

    - by uwe
    Hello, is it possible to put a truecrypt container on a net share and access/mount it form multiple machines (windows) at the same time? I fear that if both would write the file could be corrupted.

  • Same address, multiple shared_ptr counters, is it forbidden by C++ standard?

    - by icando
    Suppose I have some needs to do the following (This is just some imaginative code for discussion of the C++ standard, thus I won't discuss why I design it this way, so don't bother me something like: your design is wrong.) T* ptr = new T; shared_ptr<T> p(ptr); shared_ptr<T> q(ptr, SomeDeleterThatDoesnotDeleteButDoSomeOtherStuff()); Suppose the logic guarantees that p or some of its copies lives longer than any copies of q, so practically there won't be any problem. My question is, is it forbidden by C++ standard, e.g. explicitly stated as UB by C++ standard, that different shared_ptr counters share the same address? Thanks.

  • C++ static classes & shared_ptr memory leaks

    - by HardCoder1986
    Hello! I can't understand why does the following code produce memory leaks (I am using boost::shared_ptr with static class instance). Could someone help me? #include <crtdbg.h> #include <boost/shared_ptr.hpp> using boost::shared_ptr; #define _CRTDBG_MAP_ALLOC #define NEW new(_NORMAL_BLOCK, __FILE__, __LINE__) static struct myclass { static shared_ptr<int> ptr; myclass() { ptr = shared_ptr<int>(NEW int); } } myclass_instance; shared_ptr<int> myclass::ptr; int main() { _CrtSetDbgFlag(_CRTDBG_ALLOC_MEM_DF | _CRTDBG_LEAK_CHECK_DF | _CRTDBG_CHECK_ALWAYS_DF | _CrtSetDbgFlag(_CRTDBG_REPORT_FLAG)); return 0; }

  • why BOOST_FOREACH cannot handle const boost::ptr_map?

  • Update panel in Tab Container

    - by Sam_Cogan
    I have a tab container with 5 tabs, each tab contains an update panel. When the user initially opens the form, they can only see the first Tab, the others are set to visible=false. Once they have completed the first form, the hit save which sends a partial postback to save the data to the DB. Once that is saved, I then want to set all the other tabs to visible, however this does not work at the moment, I am assuming because the tab container is not contained in an update panel. How can I get this to work, do I need to put the tab container in it's own update panel, which will obviously then contain all the other update panels, or should I not use an update panel in the first tab and do a full page postback?

  • JLayeredPane versus Container layering

    - by Gili
    JLayeredPane allows one to stack multiple Components on top of one another using JLayeredPane.add(Component, Integer). Components in higher "layers" display on top of Components in lower "layers". Container.add(Component, int) provides a similar mechanism whereby Components with lower indexes display on top of Components with higher indexes. Please note that the first mechanism uses Integer and the second mechanism uses int. Also, one renders high values on top of low ones, and the other does the opposite. Do not mix the two :) My question is: what's the point of using JLayeredPane when Container already provides the same mechanism? Does one layer components better than the another? UPDATE: There is also Container.setComponentZOrder(Component, int) to consider.

  • Windows Azure: Exception while creating a blob container

    - by veda
    I followed a tutorial on creating a blob on windows azure. But when I do that, I get an exception error: Error while creating containerThe server encountered an unknown failure: The remote server returned an error: (300) Ambiguous Redirect. The code is : private void SetContainersAndPermission() { try { // create a container var CloudAccountStorage = CloudStorageAccount.FromConfigurationSetting("BlobConnectionString"); cloudBlobClient = CloudAccountStorage.CreateCloudBlobClient(); CloudBlobContainer blobContainer = cloudBlobClient.GetContainerReference("documents"); blobContainer.CreateIfNotExist(); // permissions var containerPermissions = blobContainer.GetPermissions(); containerPermissions.PublicAccess = BlobContainerPublicAccessType.Container; blobContainer.SetPermissions(containerPermissions); } catch(Exception ex) { throw new Exception("Error while creating container" + ex.Message); } } Can anyone tell me How to solve this problem....

  • Override asbolute position on child container (modal window)

    - by Shawn Mclean
    I have a modal window that is pulled from the server and inserted into a container that is absolute positioned. When that window is triggered to open, it does not display properly, it positions itself inside the container and most of it is hidden. Is there a specific css to be written for the container of the modal window (MyModalWindow). My code is as follows: <div style="position:relative;"> <div style="position: absolute;"> <div id="MyModalWindow"> </div> </div> </div> This is a jquery tools window.

  • Better name needed for applying a function on elements of a container

    - by stefaanv
    I have a container class (containing a multi-index container) for which I have a public "foreach" member-function, so users can pass a functor to apply on all elements. While implementing, I had a case where the functor should only be applied to some elements of a range in the container, so I overloaded the foreach, to pass some valid range. Now, in some cases, it was worthwhile to stop on a certain condition, so practically, I let the foreach stop based on the return-value of the function. I'm pleased with how the system works, but I have one concern: How should a "foreach" on a range, with stop conditions be called? Anyone knows a generic, clear and concise name?

  • FFmpeg extract clip - stream frame rate differs from container frame rate (x264, aac)

    - by fideli
    Summary H.264 video seems to have a really high frame rate that requires a scaling factor to the applied to the duration of video that I'm trying to extract (900x lower). Body I'm trying to extract a clip from a movie that I have in MP4 format (created using Handbrake). After trying mencoder and VLC, I decided to give FFmpeg a shot since it was the least troublesome when it came to copying the codecs. That is, compared to mencoder and VLC, the resulting file was still playable in QuickTime (I know about Perian, etc, I'm just trying to learn how all this works). Anyway, my command was as follows: ffmpeg -ss 01:15:51 -t 00:05:59 -i outofsight.mp4 \ -acodec copy -vcodec copy clip.mp4 During the copy, The following comes up: Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 45000.00 (45000/1) -> 25.00 (25/1) Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from outofsight.mp4': Duration: 01:57:42.10, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 830 kb/s Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 720x384, 25 tbr, 22500 tbn, 45k tbc Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16 Output #0, mp4, to 'out.mp4': Stream #0.0(und): Video: libx264, yuv420p, 720x384, q=2-31, 90k tbn, 22500 tbc Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: libfaac, 48000 Hz, stereo, s16 Stream mapping: Stream #0.0 -> #0.0 Stream #0.1 -> #0.1 Press [q] to stop encoding frame= 2591 fps=2349 q=-1.0 size= 8144kB time=101.60 bitrate= 656.7kbits/s … Instead of a 5:59 duration clip, I get the entire rest of the movie. So, to test this, I ran the ffmpeg command with -t 00:00:01. What I got was exactly a 15:00 minute clip. So I did some black box engineering and decided to scale my -t option by calculating what value to enter given that 1 second was interpreted as 900 s. For my desired 359 s clip, I calculated 0.399 s and so my ffmpeg command became: ffmpeg -ss 01:15.51 -t 00:00:00.399 -i outofsight.mp4 \ -acodec copy -vcodec copy clip.mp4 This works, but I have no idea why the duration is scaled by 900. Investigating further, each ffmpeg run has the line: Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 45000.00 (45000/1) -> 25.00 (25/1) 45000/25 = 1800. Must be a relation somewhere. Somehow, the obscenely high frame rate is causing issues with the timing. How is that frame rate so high? The best part about this is that the resulting clip.mp4 has the exact same feature (due to the copied video codec), and taking further clips from this needs the same scaling for the -t duration option. Therefore, I've made it available for anyone willing to check this out. • Class member functions instantiated by traits

    - by Jive Dadson
    I am reluctant to say I can't figure this out, but I can't figure this out. I've googled and searched Stack Overflow, and come up empty. The abstract, and possibly overly vague form of the question is, how can I use the traits-pattern to instantiate non-virtual member functions? The question came up while modernizing a set of multivariate function optimizers that I wrote more than 10 years ago. The optimizers all operate by selecting a straight-line path through the parameter space away from the current best point (the "update"), then finding a better point on that line (the "line search"), then testing for the "done" condition, and if not done, iterating. There are different methods for doing the update, the line-search, and conceivably for the done test, and other things. Mix and match. Different update formulae require different state-variable data. For example, the LMQN update requires a vector, and the BFGS update requires a matrix. If evaluating gradients is cheap, the line-search should do so. If not, it should use function evaluations only. Some methods require more accurate line-searches than others. Those are just some examples. The original version instantiates several of the combinations by means of virtual functions. Some traits are selected by setting mode bits that are tested at runtime. Yuck. It would be trivial to define the traits with #define's and the member functions with #ifdef's and macros. But that's so twenty years ago. It bugs me that I cannot figure out a whiz-bang modern way. If there were only one trait that varied, I could use the curiously recurring template pattern. But I see no way to extend that to arbitrary combinations of traits. I tried doing it using boost::enable_if, etc.. The specialized state information was easy. I managed to get the functions done, but only by resorting to non-friend external functions that have the this-pointer as a parameter. I never even figured out how to make the functions friends, much less member functions. The compiler (VC++ 2008) always complained that things didn't match. I would yell, "SFINAE, you moron!" but the moron is probably me. Perhaps tag-dispatch is the key. I haven't gotten very deeply into that. Surely it's possible, right? If so, what is best practice? UPDATE: Here's another try at explaining it. I want the user to be able to fill out an order (manifest) for a custom optimizer, something like ordering off of a Chinese menu - one from column A, one from column B, etc.. Waiter, from column A (updaters), I'll have the BFGS update with Cholesky-decompositon sauce. From column B (line-searchers), I'll have the cubic interpolation line-search with an eta of 0.4 and a rho of 1e-4, please. Etc... UPDATE: Okay, okay. Here's the playing-around that I've done. I offer it reluctantly, because I suspect it's a completely wrong-headed approach. It runs okay under vc++ 2008. #include <boost/utility.hpp> #include <boost/type_traits/integral_constant.hpp> namespace dj { struct CBFGS { void bar() {printf("CBFGS::bar %d\n", data);} CBFGS(): data(1234){} int data; }; template<class T> struct is_CBFGS: boost::false_type{}; template<> struct is_CBFGS<CBFGS>: boost::true_type{}; struct LMQN {LMQN(): data(54.321){} void bar() {printf("LMQN::bar %lf\n", data);} double data; }; template<class T> struct is_LMQN: boost::false_type{}; template<> struct is_LMQN<LMQN> : boost::true_type{}; struct default_optimizer_traits { typedef CBFGS update_type; }; template<class traits> class Optimizer; template<class traits> void foo(typename boost::enable_if<is_LMQN<typename traits::update_type>, Optimizer<traits> >::type& self) { printf(" LMQN %lf\n", self.data); } template<class traits> void foo(typename boost::enable_if<is_CBFGS<typename traits::update_type>, Optimizer<traits> >::type& self) { printf("CBFGS %d\n", self.data); } template<class traits = default_optimizer_traits> class Optimizer{ friend typename traits::update_type; //friend void dj::foo<traits>(typename Optimizer<traits> & self); // How? public: //void foo(void); // How??? void foo() { dj::foo<traits>(*this); } void bar() { data.bar(); } //protected: // How? typedef typename traits::update_type update_type; update_type data; }; } // namespace dj int main_() { dj::Optimizer<> opt; opt.foo(); opt.bar(); std::getchar(); return 0; }

  • MEF = may experience frustration?

    - by Dave
    Well, it's not THAT bad yet. :) But I do have questions after Reed has pointed me at MEF as a potential alternative to IoC (and so far it does look pretty good). Consider the following model: As you can see, I have an App, and this app uses Plugins (whoops, missed that association!). Both the App and Plugins require usage of an object of type CandySettings, which is found in yet another assembly. I first tried to use the ComposeParts method in MEF, but the only way I could get this to work was to do something like this in the plugin code. var container = new CompositionContainer(); container.ComposeParts(this, new CandySettings()); But this doesn't make any sense, because why would I want to create the instance of CandySettings in the plugin? It should be in the App. But if I put it in the App code, then the Plugin doesn't magically figure out how to get at ICandySettings, even though I am using [Import] in the plugin, and [Export] in CandySettings. The way I did it was to use MEF's DirectoryCatalog, because this allows the plugin, when constructed, to scan all of the assemblies in the current folder and automagically import everything that is marked with the [Import] attribute. So it looks like this, and potentially in every plugin: var catalog = new DirectoryCatalog( "."); var container = new CompositionContainer( catalog); container.ComposeParts( this); This totally works great, but I can't help but think that this is not how MEF was intended to be used?

  • Castle, sharing a transient component between a decorator and a decorated component

    - by Marius
    Consider the following example: public interface ITask { void Execute(); } public class LoggingTaskRunner : ITask { private readonly ITask _taskToDecorate; private readonly MessageBuffer _messageBuffer; public LoggingTaskRunner(ITask taskToDecorate, MessageBuffer messageBuffer) { _taskToDecorate = taskToDecorate; _messageBuffer = messageBuffer; } public void Execute() { _taskToDecorate.Execute(); Log(_messageBuffer); } private void Log(MessageBuffer messageBuffer) {} } public class TaskRunner : ITask { public TaskRunner(MessageBuffer messageBuffer) { } public void Execute() { } } public class MessageBuffer { } public class Configuration { public void Configure() { IWindsorContainer container = null; container.Register( Component.For<MessageBuffer>() .LifeStyle.Transient); container.Register( Component.For<ITask>() .ImplementedBy<LoggingTaskRunner>() .ServiceOverrides(ServiceOverride.ForKey("taskToDecorate").Eq("task.to.decorate"))); container.Register( Component.For<ITask>() .ImplementedBy<TaskRunner>() .Named("task.to.decorate")); } } How can I make Windsor instantiate the "shared" transient component so that both "Decorator" and "Decorated" gets the same instance? Edit: since the design is being critiqued I am posting something closer to what is being done in the app. Maybe someone can suggest a better solution (if sharing the transient resource between a logger and the true task is considered a bad design)

  • Lightcore IoC is returning the same instance when it should give a new one

    - by Anthony
    I have the following code using the lightcore IoC container. But it fails with "NUnit.Framework.AssertionException: Contained objects are equal" which indicates that the objects that should be transient, are not. Is this a bug in lightcore, or am I doing it wrong? [Test] public void JellybeanDispenserHasNewInstanceEachTimeWithDefault() { var builder = new ContainerBuilder(); builder.Register<IJellybeanDispenser, VanillaJellybeanDispenser>(); builder.Register<SweetVendingMachine>().ControlledBy<TransientLifecycle>(); builder.Register<SweetShop>(); builder.DefaultControlledBy<TransientLifecycle>(); IContainer container = builder.Build(); SweetShop sweetShop = container.Resolve<SweetShop>(); SweetShop sweetShop2 = container.Resolve<SweetShop>(); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop, sweetShop2), "Root objects are equal"); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop.SweetVendingMachine, sweetShop2.SweetVendingMachine), "Contained objects are equal"); Assert.IsFalse(ReferenceEquals(sweetShop.SweetVendingMachine.JellybeanDispenser, sweetShop2.SweetVendingMachine.JellybeanDispenser), "services are equal"); } PS: I would tag this question with "lightcore", but suddenly my reputation isn't good enough to make a new tag. Huh.

  • Inversion of control domain objects construction problem

    - by Andrey
    Hello! As I understand IoC-container is helpful in creation of application-level objects like services and factories. But domain-level objects should be created manually. Spring's manual tells us: "Typically one does not configure fine-grained domain objects in the container, because it is usually the responsibility of DAOs and business logic to create/load domain objects." Well. But what if my domain "fine-grained" object depends on some application-level object. For example I have an UserViewer(User user, UserConstants constants) class. There user is domain object which cannot be injected, but UserViewer also needs UserConstants which is high-level object injected by IoC-container. I want to inject UserConstants from the IoC-container, but I also need a transient runtime parameter User here. What is wrong with the design? Thanks in advance! UPDATE It seems I was not precise enough with my question. What I really need is an example how to do this: create instance of class UserViewer(User user, UserService service), where user is passed as the parameter and service is injected from IoC. If I inject UserViewer viewer then how do I pass user to it? If I create UserViewer viewer manually then how do I pass service to it?

  • How might I assume a "default value" when parsing using boost::spirit?

    - by tJener
    Let's say I have a grammar defined to something like: a b c d where c, and d are optional and default to 14 if not given. Can I get it to automatically return the 14 if the value isn't given? The closest I've come is like the following: qi::rule<Iterator, std::vector<int>(), ascii::space_type> some_rule; some_rule %= >> int_ >> int_ >> -int_ >> -int_; // ... some_other_rule = some_rule[&some_callback_for_int_vectors]; which will then get 0 for the optional values that didn't show up (I believe). I then change consecutive 0s at the end into 14. Not only is this horribly wrong, but its also just not elegant. Is there a better way to do this?

  • Why can't I extract a C++ type from a Python type using boost::python::extractor?

    - by Robin
    I've wrapped a C++ class using Py++ and everything is working great in Python. I can instantiate the c++ class, call methods, etc. I'm now trying to embed some Python into a C++ application. This is also working fine for the most-part. I can call functions on a Python module, get return values, etc. The python code I'm calling returns one of the classes that I wrapped: import _myextension as myext def run_script(arg): my_cpp_class = myext.MyClass() return my_cpp_class I'm calling this function from C++ like this: // ... excluding error checking, ref counting, etc. for brevity ... PyObject *pModule, *pFunc, *pArgs, *pReturnValue; Py_Initialize(); pModule = PyImport_Import(PyString_FromString("cpp_interface")); pFunc = PyObject_GetAttrString(pModule, "run_script"); pArgs = PyTuple_New(1); PyTuple_SetItem(pArgs, 0, PyString_FromString("an arg")); pReturnValue = PyObject_CallObject(pFunc, pArgs); bp::extract< MyClass& > extractor(pReturnValue); // PROBLEM IS HERE if (extractor.check()) { // This check is always false MyClass& cls = extractor(); } The problem is the extractor never actually extracts/converts the PyObject* to MyClass (i.e. extractor.check() is always false). According to the docs this is the correct way to extract a wrapped C++ class. I've tried returning basic data types (ints/floats/dicts) from the Python function and all of them are extracted properly. Is there something I'm missing? Is there another way to get the data and cast to MyClass?

  • Building a world matrix

    - by DeadMG
    When building a world projection matrix from scale, rotate, translate matrices, then the translation matrix must be the last in the process, right? Else you'll be scaling or rotating your translations. Do scale and rotate need to go in a specific order? Right now I've got std::for_each(objects.begin(), objects.end(), [&, this](D3D93DObject* ptr) { D3DXMATRIX WVP; D3DXMATRIX translation, rotationX, rotationY, rotationZ, scale; D3DXMatrixTranslation(&translation, ptr->position.x, ptr->position.y, ptr->position.z); D3DXMatrixRotationX(&rotationX, ptr->rotation.x); D3DXMatrixRotationY(&rotationY, ptr->rotation.y); D3DXMatrixRotationZ(&rotationZ, ptr->rotation.z); D3DXMatrixScaling(&translation, ptr->scale.x, ptr->scale.y, ptr->scale.z); WVP = rotationX * rotationY * rotationZ * scale * translation * ViewProjectionMatrix; });

  • [boost::filesystem] performance: is it better to read all files once, or use b::fs functions over an

    - by rubenvb
    I'm conflicted between a "read once, use memory+pointers to files" and a "read when necessary" approach. The latter is of course much easier (no additional classes needed to store the whole dir structure), but IMO it is slower? A little clarification: I'm writing a simple build system, that read a project file, checks if all files are present, and runs some compile steps. The file tree is static, so the first option doesn't need to be very dynamic and only needs to be built once every time the program is run. Thanks
