  • Importing large datasets on iPhone using CoreData

    Hi there, I'm facing very annoying problem. My iPhone app is loading it's data from a network server. Data are sent as plist and when parsed, it neeeds to be stored to SQLite db using CoreData. Issue is that in some cases those datasets are too big (5000+ records) and import takes way too long. More on that, when iPhone tries to suspend the screen, Watchdog kills the app because it's still processing the import and does not respond up to 5 seconds, so import is never finished. I used all recommended techniques according to article "Efficiently Importing Data" http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Cocoa/Conceptual/CoreData/Articles/cdImporting.html and other docs concerning this, but it's still awfully slow. Solution I'm looking for is to let app suspend, but let import run in behind (better one) or to prevent attempts to suspend the app at all. Or any better idea is welcomed too. Any tips on how to overcome these issues are highly appreciated! Thanks

    when i use http://github.com/joshthecoder/tweepy-examples , i find : import tweepy in the appengine\oauth_example\handlers.py but i can't find a tweepy file or tweepy's 'py' file, except a tweepy.zip file, i don't think this is right,cauz i never import a zip file, i find this in app.py: import sys sys.path.insert(0, 'tweepy.zip') why ? how to import a zip file.. thanks

  • "import as" leads to unresolved import error, "from .. import" does not

    I'm trying to write some plugins for the irc bot supybot with eclipse/pydev. Pydev gives me errors about unresolved imports on supybot-modules/packages (e. g. import supybot.utils as utils), but works ok on e. g. "from supybot.commands import *". So I guess I set up dydev correctly, as it finds the wanted modules. The problem must be in pydev/eclipse, as the bot works correct and in eric5 I get also no errors about that. Removing the interpreter and setting it up didn't help. Any other ideas on how to fix this? System: Arch Linux, Eclipse Juno, PyDev 2.7.1, wanted (and set up) python interpreter is 2.7, supybot is installed in site-packages for Python 2.7. Edit: Just noticed: PyDev doesn't mark the "from ... import *" as error, but if I use functions imported from there I get an error on that function.

  • How to import data to SAP

    Hi, As a complete stranger in town of SAP, I want to transfer my own application's (mobile salesforce automation) data to SAP. My application has records of customers, stocks, inventory, invoices (and waybills), cheques, payments, collections, stock transfer data etc. I have an additional database which holds matchings of records. ie. A customer with ID 345 in my application has key 120-035-0223 in SAP. Every record, for sure, has to know it's counterpart, including parameters. After searching Google and SAP help site for a day, I covered that it's going to be a bit more pain than I expected. Especially SAP site does not give even a clue on it. Say I couldn't find. We transferred our data to some other ERP systems, some of which wanted XML files, some other exposed their APIs. My point is, is Sql Server's SSIS an option for me? I hope it is, so I can fight on my own territory. Since client requests would vary a lot, I count flexibility as most important criteria. Also, I want to transfer as much data as I could.   • Tool to export Microsoft project to website?

    Just wondering does anyone know of a free/open source tool that take a Microsoft project file and export it to HTML? I know you can save a project file as HTML, so wanted a tool that would do this automatically? Maybe also displaying graphs/gantt chart as well? If not, any ideas of how I would write a program to do this, preferably in java? I know of Aspose.Tasks (http://www.aspose.com/categories/.net-components/aspose.tasks-for-.net/default.aspx), which can export projects files to gantt charts in png format, but it's not free and is only available in C#.

    My capistrano deploy.rb has a foreman export command for a rails app on Ubuntu 10.04 So, while deploying, I want to export the foreman to upstart script. But doing that, the command rvmsudo foreman export ... asks for root password and I cannot do anything.   • Value of the HTML5 lang attribute

    I'm working on a website which will offer localized content following the language+region approach as described on this W3.org page (e.g. fr-CA for Canadian French content, and fr-FR for "French French" content). As we consider content for each language+region to be unique, it is crucial to us that search engines properly identify and serve the content accordingly. By looking up on the Internet (e.g. this question), it appears that most people recommend the use of an ISO639 language code in the HTML lang attribute to describe the content language. Following this recommendation, we would en up using <html lang="fr"> which wouldn't enable the differentiation between the aforementioned language+region combinations. When reviewing the HTML4 specification, it seems that using language+region as a language code would be perfectly OK, as the en-US example is given as one possible value. However I couldn't find any confirmation of this in the HTML5 specification which doesn't seem to provide any example as to the possible allowed values. From there I tried to get a de facto answer by looking at what the web giants are doing.   • Live from ODTUG - Big Data and SQL session #2

    Sitting in Dominic Delmolino's session at ODTUG (KScope 12). If the session count at conferences is any indication then we will see more and more people start to deploy MapReduce in the database. And yes, that would be with SQL and PL/SQL first and foremost. Both Dominic and our own Bryn Llewellyn are doing MapReduce in the database presentations.  Since I have seen both, I would advice people to first look through Dominic's session to get a good grasp on what mappers do and what reducers do, then dive into Bryn's for a bunch of PL/SQL example. The thing I like about Dominic's is the last slide (a recursive WITH statement) to do this in SQL... Now I am hoping that next year we will see tools vendors show off how they work with Hadoop and MapReduce (at least talking about the concepts!!).

  • Better data structure for a game like Bubble Witch

    I'm implementing a bubble-witch-like game (http://www.king.com/games/puzzle-games/bubble-witch/), and I was thinking on what's the better way to store the "bubbles" and to work with. I thought of using graphs, but that might be too complex for a trivial thing. Thought of a matrix, just like a tile map, but that might get too 'workaroundy'. I don't know. I just want to know how I can move into that field. Because as companies are not going to hire me in that field directly, I just want to know how can I make the transistion. I was thinking of first working as Database developer in SQL and then I can see further. But I want advice from you guys so that I can start learning that stuff so that I can change jobs keeping that in mind. Here in my area there are plenty of jobs in all areas but I need to know how to transition and what things I should learn before making that transition. Here jobs are plenty so if I know my stuff, getting a job is a piece of cake because they don't have any people. Same jobs keep getting advertised for months and months.

    i am trying to make a pacman game in c# using GDI+, i have done some basic work and i have previously replicated games like copter-it and minesweeper. but i am confused about how do i implement the map in pacman, i mean which datastructure to use, so i can use it for moving AI controlled objects and check collisions with walls. i thought of a 2d array of ints but that didnt make sense to me. looking for some help. thanks.

  • Export Foxbase database tables to csv

    I have no experience with Foxbase whatsoever and I'm used to working with MySQL via phpmyadmin or interfaces like that. My company has a third party database we're trying to move away from, but we have no support from the company. The database is on our servers, but in a foxbase format. What kind tools do I need to convert these into other formats, or is there any type of admin UI I can tell them to use to export to csv or anything like that? Basically I'm asking how to export the foxbase tables to csv. Sorry if this question isn't clear or you need more information. I will edit with anything else you need.

    Hi, My Ubuntu 10.10 just crashed(probably due to hardware error and in the end I was getting error like Unknown filesystem ..... grub> .. GRUB console before i could take some action) and i reinstalled the same version form USB stick. I had ubuntu installed in ext4 file system and I am also having the same filesystem in the same hard disk on different drive. When I try to access my previous filesystem, i get error Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda6, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so I had some important files in the previous volume, I don't know how to retrieve them. And what are the chances that I would get the same outcome (hardware error)? Please help me!

  • Maya Animated Character export for XNA 4.0 problem

    To begin with, I'm trying to export an animated character in .fbx format from Maya 2013 to XNA 4.0 In Maya, The Model has a basic rig and the animations are in clips made in the Trax editor. so the issue i'm having is after selecting the model and the root joint and then hitting export in .fbx format, for some reason when i open the exported .fbx file the joint system is detached from the model with no animation. Btw, i have the animations in clips so that they can be called in code, for example "run","walk","attack". So, what can i do to solve this problem? Thank you.

  • Wiped data, and duplicated folders into files.

    Something weird happened today, and I dont know how. Within a folder, all folders have a file by the same name, with a colon appended to it. And all the files from the most inner-most directory in my home, have been dumped to ~, with a size of 0 bytes. I have not executed any scripts or anything. I was just checking out some easter eggs, namely the gegls from outer space and free the fish and was away from the computer and was logged because of the screensaver. I couldnt log-back in with my password, so I just reset the PC, and while booting, the PC went into a drive check. BUT, IIRC, i saw the duplicate "folder files" before I had logged out, so thats not the reason! All the files have a timestamp of 14 Jan. Also, the contents of my eclipse folder have been dumped into ~. Right down to the jars and ini files. HELP!

    I deployed a project some days ago that allow to extract some medical articles using the results of a questionnaire completed by a user. For instance, if I reply on questionnaire I'm affected by Diabetes type 2 and I'm a smoker, my algorithm extracts all articles related to diabetes bubbling up all articles contains information about Diabetes type 2 and smoking. Basically we created a list of topic and, for every topic we define a kind of "guideline" that allows to extract and order informations for a user. I'm quite sure there are some better way to put on relationship two content but I was not able to find them on network. Could you suggest my a model, algorithm or paper to better understand this kind of problem and that helps me to find a faster, and more accurate way to extract information for an user?

    Today i deleted my home directory (in wrong action) with: sudo rm -rf * And when i use extundelete i get this message: root@ubuntu:~# sudo extundelete --restore-directory /home/hamed/ /dev/sda2WARNING: Extended attributes are not restored. Loading filesystem metadata ... 746 groups loaded. Loading journal descriptors ... 29931 descriptors loaded. Searching for recoverable inodes in directory /home/hamed/ ... 498 recoverable inodes found. Looking through the directory structure for deleted files ... 498 recoverable inodes still lost. No files were undeleted. why it can't recover? Anyone can help me to return my Desktop, Documents and etc? I have ubuntu 14.04.

  • Import 3ds into JMonkeyEngine 3

    I have asked this question on SO, but I think it will be more suitable here. Basically, we are trying to import an animated character body (with skeleton) from 3D Studio Max to JMonkeyEngine 3, but while we succeeded at importing some animations, we cannot seem to export the skeleton to .skeleton.xml using OgreXML format. Since OgreXML seems to be the favored way to import models into JME, we dropped .obj files and such. Any help appreciated.
