• Why can't I connect to a Cisco wireless access point?

  I'm running a Lucid Netbook Remix on my Dell Inspiron 600m and I was not able to connect to the wireless network at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View yesterday. There were plenty of other people on the network - MS, Mac, and Linux boxes - but my laptop would never get an ip address. I can connect to my home network, which is open, and I've never had a problem connecting at the coffee shop, which uses WPA. The Hacker Dojo is running WPA and we checked the password a number of times but got no love. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.   Hi there, I'd like to implement my own script engine using the QtScript component and other Qt components. Since this should be an open source (GPL) application I thought I would be free to do this. But now I found a page at Qt's website that made me doubtful about it: What are the restrictions with releasing scriptable applications? Unless the scripter has a Qt license, the following restrictions apply: The application itself may not primarily be a script development tool. The Qt API may not be made directly scriptable. Scripts may not alter the main functionality of the application. If the major part of the application is developed with a compiled programming language and only some non-core parts of the application are made extendable/modifiable through Qt Script, the scripter does not need to purchase a Qt or QSA license.   I generally build my openssl libs by doing this: perl Configure VC-WIN32 ms\do_masm nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak test For debugging minidumps, I'd like to get a pdb file for the 2 dlls (while still building them in "release" mode). I've added /Zi to the CFLAGS part of ms\ntdll.mak, but I still get "Binary was not built with debug information" when I look at the in-memory modules in the visual studio debugger. When we checked what was going on with the application and the database we discover this "precious" query that was being executed by several users at the same time (thus inflicting an extremely high load on the database server): SELECT NULL AS table_cat, o.owner AS table_schem, o.object_name AS table_name, o.object_type AS table_type, NULL AS remarks FROM all_objects o WHERE o.owner LIKE :1 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_0" AND o.object_name LIKE :2 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_1" AND o.object_type IN(:"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3") ORDER BY table_type, table_schem, table_name Our application does not execute this query, I believe it is an Hibernate internal query. I've found little information on why Hibernate does this extremely heavy query, so any help in how to avoid it very much appreciated!   I have checked the servers (Win Server 2003) application event logs for the following problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308097 which doesn't show up. It just appears that sessions drop randomly for random users It's a single server setup, no web farms and no load balancing Even though the issue I point to above doesn't occur in the logs, is it worth increasing the stateNetworkTimeout attribute anyway?   I'm currently automating an application at work using COM, and have an issue where anyone using my application has a problem if the original application is already open when my application runs. I know how to locate the process if it's open, but instead of having to worry about closing it, or working around it, etc., I want to try to use the existing application instead of opening a new one. This is how I normally start the application in my automation program: Designer.Application desApp = new Designer.Application(); Now I'm attempting to try and use the handle from an existing application: Designer.Application desApp = (Designer.Application)((System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("Designer.exe")[0]).Handle) (I know this doesn't work, since .Handle returns an IntPtr, but I'm using it as an example.) Is there any way to accomplish this? How do I return a usable object if I know the handle/process?

  Hello! I have developed a Java aplication that is currently being run by double-clicking on a ".bat" file that does something like "java -jar proy.jar". This application just listens on a port and writes to a database, so it does not have any user interface (such as a window). I need this application to run as in background mode, or as it where a service, but I don't really anything more than that. It's enough if the application is run in a way that is not noticeable by the user, so that the user is not bothered and so the application can not be mistakenly closed. By the way, this will be run on an specific computer so it's okay if I have to do any manual configuration ir order to make this work. Also, I need this application to run on startup. Background: (feel free to critique) Some includes in my site contain many links and images which cannot use relative urls due to their inclusion in different paths.   We are about to begin work on an application that will eventually be deployed many times on one server. I am hoping to build a nice interface so that one of my coworkers can easily create new deployments of this application. The idea is to create a wizard with a series of options that will configure basic properties of each particular copy of the app such as color scheme, domain name, etc. Each copy of the application may be further tweaked independently down the line. I would like to know what is the best way to manage the automatic creation of users, the updating of domain name info and the deploying of copies of an application, with the ability to maintain certain discrepancies between each of these copies (such as installed plugins, different CSS) as we update the application in the future. What I'm asking is extremely similar to the way StackExchange 1.0 functioned, where a user could configure several options and a customized version of the StackExchange would soon be up and running.
