  • Is there a prefered way to specify a text column in SQLite?

    - by JannieT
Since the SQLite engine will not truncate the data you store in a text column, is there any advantage in being specific with column sizes when you define your schema? Would anyone prefer this: CREATE TABLE contact( id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, name VARCHAR(45), title VARCHAR(10) ); over this: CREATE TABLE contact( id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, name TEXT, title TEXT ); Why? Are there advantages to not being specific?

  • How to include named capture groups in java regex?

    - by jrummell
I'm new to regex in Java and I can't figure out how to include named capture groups in an expression. I'm writing a ScrewTurn Image Converter for Confluence's Universal Wiki Converter. This is what I have: String image = "\\[image(?<align>auto)?\\|\\|{UP\\(((?<namespace>\\w+)\\.)?(?<pagename>[\\w-]+)\\)}(?<filename>[\\w- ]+\\.[\\w]+)\\]"; Pattern imagePattern = Pattern.compile(image, Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE); It's throwing this exception in Pattern.comiple(): java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException: Unknown look-behind group near index 19 \[image(?<align>auto)?\|\|{UP\(((?<namespace>\w+)\.)?(?<pagename>[\w-]+)\)}(?<filename>[\w- ]+\.[\w]+)\] ^ I've used named capture groups like this before in C# (?<namedgroup>asdf), but not in Java. What am I missing?

  • Hidden Features of Google Guice

    - by Jon
Google Guice provides some great dependency injection features. I came across the @Nullable feature recently which allows you to mark constructor arguments as optional (permitting null) since Guice does not permit these by default: e.g. public Person(String firstName, String lastName, @Nullable Phone phone) { this.firstName = checkNotNull(firstName, "firstName"); this.lastName = checkNotNull(lastName, "lastName"); this.phone = phone; } http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/wiki/UseNullable What are the other useful features of Guice (particularly the less obvious ones) that people use?

  • How to save state of the app when app terminates?

    - by user164589
Hi guys. I am trying to save the app state by encoding when the app terminates. I've found the solution related this issue. But I don't know how to use. I am really trying to make encoding and decoding like this: http://cocoaheads.byu.edu/wiki/nscoding in CustomObject.h @interface CustomObject : NSObject <NSCoding> { NSArray *someArray; } in CustomObject.m @implementation CustomObject // Other method implementations here - (void) encodeWithCoder:(NSCoder*)encoder { [encoder encodeObject:someArray forKey:@"someArray"]; } - (id) initWithCoder:(NSCoder*)decoder { if (self = [super init]) { someArray = [[decoder decodeObjectForKey:@"someArray"] retain]; } return self; } @end My object to save is another NSArray. Not "someArray" in CustomObject. We call it that "MySaveObject". I want to pass "MySaveObject" to "someArray" in CustomObject. Actually I don't know how to encode "MySaveObject" and to pass to "someArray" in CustomObject. Thanks in advance.

  • Should I start with Trac 0.12 ?

    - by mree
I'm going to start using Trac for the first time. From what I've gathered, the latest 0.12 is capable of supporting multiple project easily (which is something I will need since I got about 5 projects). However, it seems 0.12 is still in the development (0.12-dev). So, my question is, is it good enough for a newbie in Trac like me to use it? Does anyone has any experience using it ? It will be installed on a Linux server. BTW, I'll only be using the basic functions such as svn browser, wiki, tickets and others.

  • Between-request Garbage Collection using Passenger

    - by raphaelcm
We're using Rails 3.0.7 and REE 1.8.7. Long-term, we will be upgrading, but at the moment it's not feasible. Following the advice of several blog posts, we've been tuning our GC, and have settings that work pretty well. But we would really like to run GC outside of the request-response cycle. I've tried patching Passenger per this post, and using the code supplied in this SO question. In both cases, GC does indeed happen between requests. However, every time the between-request GC happens, I see a bunch of this: MONGODB [INFO] Connecting... MONGODB admin['$cmd'].find({:ismaster=>1}).limit(-1) MONGODB admin['$cmd'].find({:ismaster=>1}).limit(-1) MONGODB admin['$cmd'].find({:ismaster=>1}).limit(-1) Starting the New Relic Agent. Installed New Relic Browser Monitoring middleware SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES RefinerySetting Load (0.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` WHERE `refinery_settings`.`scoping` = 'pages' AND `refinery_settings`.`name` = 'use_marketable_urls' LIMIT 1 SQL (0.0ms) BEGIN RefinerySetting Load (0.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` WHERE `refinery_settings`.`id` = 1 LIMIT 1 AREL (0.0ms) UPDATE `refinery_settings` SET `value` = '--- \"false\"\n', `callback_proc_as_string` = NULL WHERE `refinery_settings`.`id` = 1 SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES RefinerySetting Load (0.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` SQL (0.0ms) COMMIT SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES RefinerySetting Load (4.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` WHERE `refinery_settings`.`scoping` IS NULL AND `refinery_settings`.`name` = 'user_image_sizes' LIMIT 1 SQL (0.0ms) BEGIN RefinerySetting Load (0.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` WHERE `refinery_settings`.`id` = 17 LIMIT 1 AREL (0.0ms) UPDATE `refinery_settings` SET `value` = '--- \n:small: 120x120>\n:medium: 280x280>\n:large: 580x580>\n', `callback_proc_as_string` = NULL WHERE `refinery_settings`.`id` = 17 SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES RefinerySetting Load (0.0ms) SELECT `refinery_settings`.* FROM `refinery_settings` SQL (0.0ms) COMMIT ******** Engine Extend: app/helpers/blog_posts_helper SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (4.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES ******** Engine Extend: app/models/user SQL (0.0ms) describe `roles_users` SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (4.0ms) describe `roles_users` SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (4.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES SQL (0.0ms) SHOW TABLES (etc, etc, etc) Which is what happens when rails "loads the world" when the app starts up. Basically, GC.start is re-loading the app for some reason. Because of this, between-request GC is much slower than inline GC. Is there a way around this? I would love to have snappy, between-request GC if possible. Thanks.

  • Missing Status Bar in Visual Studio?

    - by Marcel
Note: This question and answer is a full copy from Kelly Brownsbergers Blog. I do post it as a convenience to others. From time to time, my status bar disappears. I used to believe this was due to a botched install or add-in. I recently upgraded to Team System Test Edition, and my status bar again disappeared. For the last few weeks I’ve been trying to figure out a time to do a full reinstall. To not take rep for this, I have marked it communitiy wiki.

  • RemoteWebDriver InternetExplorer navigate().to() timeout?

    - by the qwerty
i was running a test remotely on internet explorer, and when using navigate().to() selenium returns me this: "12:13:58.770 INFO - WebDriver remote server: Exception: The driver reported that the command timed out. There may be several reasons for this. Check that the destinationsite is in IE's 'Trusted Sites' (accessed from Tools-Internet Options in the 'Security' tab) If it is a trusted site, then the request may have taken more thana minute to finish." i've done what's said. but when looking at the browsers the page is loaded, but still this message continues. i've already tried as simon told me: "(16:32:54) simonstewart: ponto: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/wiki/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#Q:_The_does_not_work_well_on_Vista._How_do_I_get_it_to_work_as_e " but did not solve. could it be google analytics that on the background is getting data or something like that? ps: i ran the test on firefox and it works well. i've tried on Windows 7 and Windows XP, and Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

  • How to install mod_dav_svn on Centos 5.5

    - by Min2liz
I'm trying to install mod_dav_svn on my server (Centos 5.5, Apache Apache 2.2.11, DirectAdmin 1.35.1 ), but no luck. I'm using this tutorial: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Subversion#head-ae2d6fa671ad7ebd5d7835c6edbcd15dd2d73c4d So, I'm trying in console: # yum install mod_dav_svn subversion Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * addons: centos.bst.lt * base: centos.bst.lt * extras: centos.bst.lt * updates: centos.bst.lt Excluding Packages in global exclude list Finished Setting up Install Process No package mod_dav_svn available. • How to deal with missing items the SEO way?

    - by Brandon Montgomery
I am working on a public-facing web site which serves up articles for people to read. After some time, articles become stale and we remove them from the site. My question is this: what is the best way to handle the situation when a search engine visits a URL corresponding to a removed article? Should the app respond with a permanent redirect (301 Moved Permanently) to a "article not found" page, or is there a better way to handle this?

  • What is the proper way to localize a static website

    - by Pavel
Hey! I need to localize our site to a number of languages. The site consists of several static pages, no dynamic backend. We have a nice international community and the people are ready to help us. The problem is how to arrange website translation, what is the right workflow? What are the best practices for static website localization? Is it possible to arrange translation in a wiki way, where several translators could translate site pages online?

  • Installing Djnajo/Python on IIS6

    - by Sohrab Hejazi
We are currently installing the latest version of Django and Python on IIS6. We have followed the instructions on the following site: http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/DjangoOnWindowsWithIISAndSQLServer We are receiving a 403 error when trying to access our Django application via the IIS server. We have verified the python installation on IIS6 and it is working property. We have also verified the Django installation. Our application runs fine under the built-in Django server, but we are having difficulties getting it to run under IIS. We presume we could be getting errors from "Linking Django to PyISAPIe" section of the instructions provided on the link above. Thank.

  • How does one record audio from a Javascript based webapp?

    - by username
I'm trying to write a web-app that records WAV files (eg: from the user's microphone). I know Javascript alone can not do this, but I'm interested in the least proprietary method to augment my Javascript with. My targeted browsers are Firefox for PC and Mac (so no ActiveX). Please share your experiences with this. I gather it can be done with Flash (but not as a WAV formated file). I gather it can be done with Java (but not without code-signing). Are these the only options? @dominic-mazzoni I'd like to record the file as a WAV because because the purpose of the webapp will be to assemble a library of good quality short soundbites. I estimate upload will be 50 MB, which is well worth it for the quality. The app will only be used on our intranet. UPDATE: There's now an alternate solution thanks to JetPack's upcoming Audio API: See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Jetpack/JEP/18

  • Why this query is so slow?

    - by Silver Light
This query appears in mysql slow query log: it takes 11 seconds. INSERT INTO record_visits ( record_id, visit_day ) VALUES ( '567', NOW() ); The table has 501043 records and it's structure looks like this: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `record_visits` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `record_id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `visit_day` date DEFAULT NULL, `visit_cnt` bigint(20) DEFAULT '1', PRIMARY KEY (`id`), UNIQUE KEY `record_id_visit_day` (`record_id`,`visit_day`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 ; What could be wrong? Why this INSERT takes so long?

  • What is the best way pre filter user access for sqlalchemy queries?

    - by steve
I have been looking at the sqlalchemy recipes on their wiki, but don't know which one is best to implement what I am trying to do. Every row on in my tables have an user_id associated with it. Right now, for every query, I queried by the id of the user that's currently logged in, then query by the criteria I am interested in. My concern is that the developers might forget to add this filter to the query (a huge security risk). Therefore, I would like to set a global filter based on the current user's admin rights to filter what the logged in user could see. Appreciate your help. Thanks.
