  • How can I remove all classes that are not named "message" from an element?

    - by Marilou
    I have the following: <div id="abc"> </div> Inside that div there can be one only of the following: <p class="message"> <p class="message error"></p> <p class="message warning"></p> <p class="message success"></p> <p class="message loading"></p> Is there a way that I can find and remove only the class from the <p> element that's NOT "message". I realize I could remove everything and then add what I need with .removeClass() but this won't work for me as after I previously added the message class I did some CSS changes and these will be lost if I remove all and then add again the message class.

  • How to test if Scala combinator parser matches a string

    - by W.P. McNeill
    I have a Scala combinator parser that handles comma-delimited lists of decimal numbers. object NumberListParser extends RegexParsers { def number: Parser[Double] = """\d+(\.\d*)?""".r ^^ (_.toDouble) def numbers: Parser[List[Double]] = rep1sep(number, ",") def itMatches(s: String): Boolean = parseAll(numbers, s) match { case _: Success[_] => true case _ => false } } The itMatches function returns true when given a string that matches the pattern. For example: NumberListParser.itMatches("12.4,3.141") // returns true NumberListParser.itMatches("bogus") // returns false Is there a more terse way to do this? I couldn't find one in the documentation, but my function sees a bit verbose, so I wonder if I'm overlooking something.

  • Network license control for a Java application

    - by user1461615
    I have been tasked with providing some form of network license control for a Java application. The app would be stored on a network drive and run from a client machine. The basic idea is that it will be able to work out how many times it is being run concurrently and prevent the N+1th user from running the software where N is the number of concurrent licenses the customer has purchased. Is this possible somehow with a Java application? I implemented a "solution" which relied on multi-cast UDP communication between the running instances of the application but this didn't work because on most networks this kind of communication is blocked by security measures. Is there a better way? I don't even mind if it requires JNI/JNA. N.B. The solution does not have to be that sophisticated or highly secure.

  • How to handle redirections with codeigniter?

    - by SinneR
    Hi, im having problems starting a codeigniter project, the problem is that when i do something in a controller and then i want a page to display the result, an example: i have a form to add a item to the database, i get all the data in the controller and save it to database and then i want (if all went well) to redirect to the main page with a success msg, i was doing this with $this->load->view('admin', $data); the problem is that the url keeps saying admin/addItem so everytime the page gets refreshed it adds another item, now i found the: redirect('admin','refresh'); but this only helps me when i dont need to display any msg because this function dont allow to send a $data var. Any ideas? Probably this is really easy to fix but i cant find a way to handle the flow of the application the way i want, any help is apreciated. thanks ;)

  • Return from jQuery Ajax Method

    - by Lijo
    I have a button named searchReportButton. On this button click, I need to check session value from server using a ajax web method "Error.aspx/CheckSessionExpiry".This is done in checkSession javascript function. The checkSession is not returning anything now - instead it is handling the required operation based on the result (redirecting to error page). I need to return the result of ajax web method to the Main Caller. How can we do this return? Main Caller searchReportButton.click(function () { checkSession(); //Remainging Code }); Helper function checkSession() { var win = 101; $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "Error.aspx/CheckSessionExpiry", data: '{"winNumber": "' + win + '"}', contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: handleSessionResult } ); } Result Helper function handleSessionResult(result) { if (result.hasOwnProperty("d")) { result = result.d } if (result == "ACTIVE") { window.location.href("Error.aspx"); return false; } //alert(result); }

  • Getting Results from a Web SQL database

    - by andrew8088
    I'm playing around with the new Web SQL databases. Is there a way to return results from a SELECT statement? Here's my example: function getTasks (list) { db.transaction(function (tx) { list = list || 'inbox'; tx.executeSql("SELECT * FROM tasklist WHERE list = ?", [list], function (tx, results) { var retObj = [], i, len = results.rows.length; for ( i = 0; i < len; i++ ) { retObj[i] = results.rows.item(i); } return retObj; }); }); } The getTasks function is returning before the success callback does; is there a way to get the results out of the executeSql method, or do I have to do all the processing within the callback?

  • How can I use Javascript to access sub-elements?

    - by Steve
    I am dynamically creating forms dynamically according to a users actions. It is an entry-box and a two "buttons" for each instance. Each instance will be wrapped in a unique div tag. What I tried to do without success is when I dynamically create the "button" I attach a function with the input variable containing the div of its instance. This a brief excerpt: var newDivClass = document.getElementById("instance"+1); button1.innerHTML = "<a href=\"#\" onclick=\"buttons("+newDivClass+");\" id=\"button1\"> Button1 </a>"; function buttons(selected) { //I want this to select the first instance //of button1 found within div newDivClass selected.getElementById("button1"); //I also tried //this.getElementById("button1"); //selected.getChildren[0]; } The problem appears to be in passing newDivClass to the the actual function.

  • How to encode content to send them via jquery to a php file?

    - by phpheini
    I am trying to send a form to a php file via jquery. The problem is, that the content, which has to be sent to the php file, contains slashes (/) since there is bb code inside. So I tried the following: $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "create.php", data: "content=" + encodeURIComponent(content), cache: false, success: function(message) { $("#somediv").html(message); } }); In the php file I use rawurldecode to decode the content and get my bb codes back which I can then transform into html. The problem is as soon as I put the encodeURIComponent() it will ouput: [object HTMLTextAreaElement] What does that mean, where is my mistake? Thanks for your help! phpheini

  • Getting an Ajax response from Zend Framework Controller

    - by JavaLava
    I'm doing an Ajax request on one of my views to a Controller but I am unable to send back a response to the Ajax method. In the snippet below, I am trying to send the word 'hellopanda' back but in the alert message, I'll get data as an object. View : $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "localhost/some-activity", data: dataString, success: function(data) { alert( "Data is: " + data); //do something with data }, error: function(data){ alert( "Data is: " + data); //do something with data }, onComplete: function(){ } }); Controller: public function someActivityAction(){ //do stuff echo "hellopanda"; } I'm pretty sure the echo is the problem. Any insights on to how to do a proper response to the view would be greatly appreciated.

  • Advanced Registry Monitoring

    - by RyanTimmons91
    I'm attempting to create a small utility to watch for the creation (or modification) of a specific registry key, and to kill the process responsible for causing that registry modification. I have had success in watching the changes to the registry via a class called 'RegistryMonitor', however it does not give you any information on what process initiated the registry call, through some googling I found that a library called 'EasyHook' should be able to do what I want, but all the documentation states that its designed for a per-application hook. The program itself is a temporary security patch, until our vendors come out with an official security update. As best I can tell there isn't a way to do exactly what I want to accomplish from C#, which is the only language I can comfortable write, test and execute software in. Any help on this would be appreciated I'm considering watching the registry changes via the program I already have, then if the change is discovered (the pc is already infected) running RKill and locking down the PC to prevent the issue from getting any worse

  • $.each - wait for jSON request before proceeding

    - by GaaayLooord
    I have an issue with the below code: the jQuery.each is speeding on without waiting for the JSON request to finish. As a result, the 'thisVariationID' and 'thisOrderID' variables are being reset by the latest iteration of a loop before they can be used in the slower getJSON function. Is there a way to make each iteration of the the .each wait until completion of the getJSON request and callback function before moving on to the next iteration? $.each($('.checkStatus'), function(){ thisVariationID = $(this).attr('data-id'); thisOrderID = $(this).attr('id'); $.getJSON(jsonURL+'?orderID='+thisOrderID+'&variationID='+thisVariationID+'&callback=?', function(data){ if (data.response = 'success'){ //show the tick. allow the booking to go through $('#loadingSML'+thisVariationID).hide(); $('#tick'+thisVariationID).show(); }else{ //show the cross. Do not allow the booking to be made $('#loadingSML'+thisVariationID).hide(); $('#cross'+thisVariationID).hide(); $('#unableToReserveError').slideDown(); //disable the form $('#OrderForm_OrderForm input').attr('disabled','disabled'); } }) })

  • why does the data property in an jquery ajax call override my return false?

    - by user315709
    hi, i have the following block of code: $("#contact_container form, #contact_details form").live( "submit", function(event) { $.ajax({ type: this.method, url: this.action, data: this.serialize(), success: function(data) { data = $(data).find("#content"); $("#contact_details").html(data); }, }); return false; } ; when i leave out the data: this.serialize(), it behaves properly and displays the response within the #contact_details div. however, when i leave it in, it submits the form, causing the page to navigate away. why does the presence of the data attribute negates the return false? (probably due to a bug that i can't spot...) also, is the syntax to my find statement correct? it comes back as "undefined" even though i use a debugger to check the ajax response and that id does exists. thanks, steve

Somewhere in that function, this line is called: var divContent = getDataAsyncHtml(dialogDiv.attr("winHref")); I'm not sure why the .ajax is not being invoked once it hits my getDataAsyncHtml function. Do I need a function() ? function getDataAsynHtml(urlWithContent) { alert("urlWithContent: " + urlWithContent); // jQuery async request $.ajax( { url: urlWithContent, success: function(data) { return $('.result').html(data); alert('Load was performed.'); } }); }

  • call .js file after ajax load

  • C++ file including C header file

    I need to include a C header file in my C++ project but g++ throws "not declared in this scope" errors. I read that i need to use extern "C" keyword to fix it but it didn't seem to work for me. Here is a dummy example triggering this error. main.cpp: #include <iostream> extern "C" { #include "includedFile.h" } int main() { int a = 2; int b = 1212; std::cout<< "Hello World!\n"; return 0; } includedFile.h #include <stdint.h> enum TypeOfEnum { ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR = INT32_MAX, }; The error thrown is : $> g++ main.cpp In file included from main.cpp:4:0: includedFile.h:7:9: error: ‘INT32_MAX’ was not declared in this scope FOUR = INT32_MAX, I saw on this post that I may need #define __STDC_LIMIT_MACROS without any success. • Run ajaxed javascript

    - by user1905698
    I know this has been covered a few times, but I'm completely a noob when it comes to javascript so I have no idea what I'm doing. I am running a javascript that sends variables to a php file and that info is ajaxed into the current page using innerhtml. Here is that part of the code... `function givingHistory(dyear,did) { var divname="giving" + dyear; $.ajax({ url: 'finance/givinghistory.php', type: 'POST', data: { year: dyear, id: did }, success: function(givedata) { document.getElementById(divname).innerHTML = givedata; } }); } ` In the givedata function response from the php file there is a call to another javascript function that is already loaded in my common .js file (so both javascript functions are loaded when the page loads). How do I get the onClick that is added via innerhtml to work? Inside the php file, I check to see if id = a php session variable. If it does it spits out the text that includes the onClick.

  • Normalization two types of customers into one table

    - by JDewzy
    I am trying to model a sales situation where you can sell to a person or to a business with a contact person. I cannot figure out the proper way to do this. It seems like 2 tables would be incorrect. But how do I model a Customer table that can be a business or a person? Would I just have a boolean for "business" and an additional "business_name" field that would default to Null. But then I have to do an if/then on the columns and that seems like poor design. Any advice, direction, or links is appreciated.

  • Network Logon Issues with Group Policy and Network

    - by bobloki
    I am gravely in need of your help and assistance. We have a problem with our logon and startup to our Windows 7 Enterprise system. We have more than 3000 Windows Desktops situated in roughly 20+ buildings around campus. Almost every computer on campus has the problem that I will be describing. I have spent over one month peering over etl files from Windows Performance Analyzer (A great product) and hundreds of thousands of event logs. I come to you today humbled that I could not figure this out. The problem as simply put our logon times are extremely long. An average first time logon is roughly 2-10 minutes depending on the software installed. All computers are Windows 7, the oldest computers being 5 years old. Startup times on various computers range from good (1-2 minutes) to very bad (5-60). Our second time logons range from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. We have a gigabit connection between each computer on the network. We have 5 domain controllers which also double as our DNS servers. Initial testing led us to believe that this was a software problem. So I spent a few days testing machines only to find inconsistent results from the etl files from xperfview. Each subset of computers on campus had a different subset of software issues, none seeming to interfere with logon just startup. • Creating a dynamic, extensible C# Expando Object

    - by Rick Strahl
    I love dynamic functionality in a strongly typed language because it offers us the best of both worlds. In C# (or any of the main .NET languages) we now have the dynamic type that provides a host of dynamic features for the static C# language. One place where I've found dynamic to be incredibly useful is in building extensible types or types that expose traditionally non-object data (like dictionaries) in easier to use and more readable syntax. I wrote about a couple of these for accessing old school ADO.NET DataRows and DataReaders more easily for example. These classes are dynamic wrappers that provide easier syntax and auto-type conversions which greatly simplifies code clutter and increases clarity in existing code. ExpandoObject in .NET 4.0 Another great use case for dynamic objects is the ability to create extensible objects - objects that start out with a set of static members and then can add additional properties and even methods dynamically. The .NET 4.0 framework actually includes an ExpandoObject class which provides a very dynamic object that allows you to add properties and methods on the fly and then access them again. For example with ExpandoObject you can do stuff like this:dynamic expand = new ExpandoObject(); expand.Name = "Rick"; expand.HelloWorld = (Func<string, string>) ((string name) => { return "Hello " + name; }); Console.WriteLine(expand.Name); Console.WriteLine(expand.HelloWorld("Dufus")); Internally ExpandoObject uses a Dictionary like structure and interface to store properties and methods and then allows you to add and access properties and methods easily. As cool as ExpandoObject is it has a few shortcomings too: It's a sealed type so you can't use it as a base class It only works off 'properties' in the internal Dictionary - you can't expose existing type data It doesn't serialize to XML or with DataContractSerializer/DataContractJsonSerializer Expando - A truly extensible Object ExpandoObject is nice if you just need a dynamic container for a dictionary like structure. However, if you want to build an extensible object that starts out with a set of strongly typed properties and then allows you to extend it, ExpandoObject does not work because it's a sealed class that can't be inherited. I started thinking about this very scenario for one of my applications I'm building for a customer. In this system we are connecting to various different user stores. Each user store has the same basic requirements for username, password, name etc. But then each store also has a number of extended properties that is available to each application. In the real world scenario the data is loaded from the database in a data reader and the known properties are assigned from the known fields in the database. All unknown fields are then 'added' to the expando object dynamically. In the past I've done this very thing with a separate property - Properties - just like I do for this class. But the property and dictionary syntax is not ideal and tedious to work with. I started thinking about how to represent these extra property structures. One way certainly would be to add a Dictionary, or an ExpandoObject to hold all those extra properties. But wouldn't it be nice if the application could actually extend an existing object that looks something like this as you can with the Expando object:public class User : Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic.Expando { public string Email { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public bool Active { get; set; } public DateTime? ExpiresOn { get; set; } } and then simply start extending the properties of this object dynamically? Using the Expando object I describe later you can now do the following:[TestMethod] public void UserExampleTest() { var user = new User(); // Set strongly typed properties user.Email = "[email protected]"; user.Password = "nonya123"; user.Name = "Rickochet"; user.Active = true; // Now add dynamic properties dynamic duser = user; duser.Entered = DateTime.Now; duser.Accesses = 1; // you can also add dynamic props via indexer user["NickName"] = "AntiSocialX"; duser["WebSite"] = "http://www.west-wind.com/weblog"; // Access strong type through dynamic ref Assert.AreEqual(user.Name,duser.Name); // Access strong type through indexer Assert.AreEqual(user.Password,user["Password"]); // access dyanmically added value through indexer Assert.AreEqual(duser.Entered,user["Entered"]); // access index added value through dynamic Assert.AreEqual(user["NickName"],duser.NickName); // loop through all properties dynamic AND strong type properties (true) foreach (var prop in user.GetProperties(true)) { object val = prop.Value; if (val == null) val = "null"; Console.WriteLine(prop.Key + ": " + val.ToString()); } } As you can see this code somewhat blurs the line between a static and dynamic type. You start with a strongly typed object that has a fixed set of properties. You can then cast the object to dynamic (as I discussed in my last post) and add additional properties to the object. You can also use an indexer to add dynamic properties to the object. To access the strongly typed properties you can use either the strongly typed instance, the indexer or the dynamic cast of the object. Personally I think it's kinda cool to have an easy way to access strongly typed properties by string which can make some data scenarios much easier. To access the 'dynamically added' properties you can use either the indexer on the strongly typed object, or property syntax on the dynamic cast. Using the dynamic type allows all three modes to work on both strongly typed and dynamic properties. Finally you can iterate over all properties, both dynamic and strongly typed if you chose. Lots of flexibility. Note also that by default the Expando object works against the (this) instance meaning it extends the current object. You can also pass in a separate instance to the constructor in which case that object will be used to iterate over to find properties rather than this. Using this approach provides some really interesting functionality when use the dynamic type. To use this we have to add an explicit constructor to the Expando subclass:public class User : Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic.Expando { public string Email { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public bool Active { get; set; } public DateTime? ExpiresOn { get; set; } public User() : base() { } // only required if you want to mix in seperate instance public User(object instance) : base(instance) { } } to allow the instance to be passed. When you do you can now do:[TestMethod] public void ExpandoMixinTest() { // have Expando work on Addresses var user = new User( new Address() ); // cast to dynamicAccessToPropertyTest dynamic duser = user; // Set strongly typed properties duser.Email = "[email protected]"; user.Password = "nonya123"; // Set properties on address object duser.Address = "32 Kaiea"; //duser.Phone = "808-123-2131"; // set dynamic properties duser.NonExistantProperty = "This works too"; // shows default value Address.Phone value Console.WriteLine(duser.Phone); } Using the dynamic cast in this case allows you to access *three* different 'objects': The strong type properties, the dynamically added properties in the dictionary and the properties of the instance passed in! Effectively this gives you a way to simulate multiple inheritance (which is scary - so be very careful with this, but you can do it). How Expando works Behind the scenes Expando is a DynamicObject subclass as I discussed in my last post. By implementing a few of DynamicObject's methods you can basically create a type that can trap 'property missing' and 'method missing' operations. When you access a non-existant property a known method is fired that our code can intercept and provide a value for. Internally Expando uses a custom dictionary implementation to hold the dynamic properties you might add to your expandable object. Let's look at code first. The code for the Expando type is straight forward and given what it provides relatively short. Here it is.using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Dynamic; using System.Reflection; namespace Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic { /// <summary> /// Class that provides extensible properties and methods. It only provides the indexer and Contains() and GetProperties() methods, that work against the Properties dictionary AND the internal instance. The reason for not implementing IDictionary is that a) it doesn't add much value since you can access the Properties dictionary directly and that b) I wanted to keep the interface to class very lean so that it can serve as an entity type if desired. Implementing these IDictionary (or even IEnumerable) causes LINQ extension methods to pop up on the type which obscures the property interface and would only confuse the purpose of the type. IDictionary and IEnumerable are also problematic for XML and JSON Serialization - the XML Serializer doesn't serialize IDictionary<string,object>, nor does the DataContractSerializer. The JavaScriptSerializer does serialize, but it treats the entire object like a dictionary and doesn't serialize the strongly typed properties of the type, only the dictionary values which is also not desirable. Hence the decision to stick with only implementing the indexer to support the user["CustomProperty"] functionality and leaving iteration functions to the publicly exposed Properties dictionary. Note that the Dictionary used here is a custom PropertyBag class I created to allow for serialization to work. One important aspect for my apps is that whatever custom properties get added they have to be accessible to AJAX clients since the particular app I'm working on is a SIngle Page Web app where most of the Web access is through JSON AJAX calls. PropertyBag can serialize to XML and one way serialize to JSON using the JavaScript serializer (not the DCS serializers though). The key components that make Expando work in this code are the Properties Dictionary and the TryGetMember() and TrySetMember() methods. The Properties collection is public so if you choose you can explicitly access the collection to get better performance or to manipulate the members in internal code (like loading up dynamic values form a database). Notice that TryGetMember() and TrySetMember() both work against the dictionary AND the internal instance to retrieve and set properties. This means that user["Name"] works against native properties of the object as does user["Name"] = "RogaDugDog". What's your Use Case? This is still an early prototype but I've plugged it into one of my customer's applications and so far it's working very well. The key features for me were the ability to easily extend the type with values coming from a database and exposing those values in a nice and easy to use manner. I'm also finding that using this type of object for ViewModels works very well to add custom properties to view models. I suspect there will be lots of uses for this - I've been using the extra dictionary approach to extensibility for years - using a dynamic type to make the syntax cleaner is just a bonus here. What can you think of to use this for?
