  • Python 3-compatibe HTML to text converter preserving basic structure under permissive licence?

    I am looking for a relatively simple HTML to text converter which displays links and works on strings. So far I have tried lynx but performance is too bad, html2text which gives weird and verbose markdown output and is under GPLv3 which is too restrictive for my (BSD-licensed) project, http://effbot.org/librarybook/formatter-example-3.py using htmllib.HTMLParser with formatter.AbstractFormatter and a custom writer, however htmllib.HTMLParser is drpeceated and has been removed from Python 3. So is there any simple, performant, Python 3-compatible HTML to text converter under a permissive license such as MIT/BSD/Apache and the like? Edit: I dont just need something to strip HTML-Tags but also to preserve the basic structure of the HTML, that is output that somewhat resembles that of Lynx.

  • no DOM in wordpress admin

    I correctly inserted a javascript file into the wordPress admin with : wp_enqueue_script() I know that the script is loading. I tested it with an alert(). I then found that I am unable to access the DOM. When I tried : document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].addEventListener('load', function() {}); This error was: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'addEventListener' of undefined This is the first time I have used 'settings api' or inserted scripts into the WordPress admin.

  • Problem with number/type of arguments passed to an overloaded c++ constructor wrapped with swig.

    I am trying to wrap a c++ class (let's call it "Spam") written by someone else with swig to expose it to Python. After solving several problems, I am able to import the module in python, but when I try to create an object of such class I obtain the following error: foo = Spam.Spam('abc',3) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "Spam.py", line 96, in __init__ this = _Spam.new_Spam(*args) NotImplementedError: Wrong number of arguments for overloaded function 'new_Spam'. Possible C/C++ prototypes are: Spam(unsigned char *,unsigned long,bool,unsigned int,SSTree::io_action,char const *) Spam(unsigned char *,unsigned long,bool,unsigned int,SSTree::io_action) Spam(unsigned char *,unsigned long,bool,unsigned int) Spam(unsigned char *,unsigned long,bool) Spam(unsigned char *,unsigned long) Googling around, I realized that the error is probably caused by the type of the arguments and not by the number (which is quite confusing), but I still cannot identify. I suspect the problem lies in passing a string as the first argument, but have no idea on how to fix it (keep in mind that I know almost no c/c++).

  • PHP imap_search not detecting all messages in gmail inbox

    When I run a very simple imap_search on my GMail inbox, the search returns less messages than it should. Here is the script that anyone with a GMail account can run. $host = '{imap.gmail.com:993/imap/ssl}'; $user = 'foo'; $pass = 'bar'; $imapStream = imap_open($host,$user,$pass) or die(imap_last_error()); $messages = imap_search($imapStream,"ALL"); echo count($messages); imap_close($imapStream); This returns 39 messages. But, I've got 100 messages in my inbox, some in conversations, some forwarded from another account (SquirrelMail, FWIW). Can anyone duplicate these results, and/or tell me what's going on?   • iOS: Text translation from English to different language and visa-versa

    I want to translate English texts to different languages from my iPad App. These texts are generated dynamically from the front end website so I can use static mapping between English and other language. Basically I will receive line of text in English from the server and I want to convert it to iPad's Locale language settings and display it. Is there anyone I can achieve this?   • Django: How do I go about changing my simple app to use Ajax?

    I currently have a web page where the user enters some data and then clicks a submit button. I process the data in views.py and then use the same Django template to return and display the original data and the results. What I would like to do is try to give it a bit more of a modern look and feel. You know the sort of thing, the page doesn't refresh but displays a spinning disk until the results are displayed. I assume this means using Ajax? How difficult is it to modify a simple app like this to use Ajax? What is involved? What are the best tools to use? JQuery?

    I followed the Djangoappengine instructions. I used their django-testapp and copied the following folders in the django-testapp folder according to what I understood the instructions to say: django djangoappengine djangotoolbox I then started the dev server by running: manage.py runserver Then navigated to http://localhost:8000/ and got the "It worked!" page, which is great, but it says the following at the bottom: You're seeing this message because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file and you haven't configured any URLs. Get to work! I am an absolute beginner with Django and App Engine and Djangoappengine and Django-nonrel, so I am pretty lost. How do I configure URLs? Or a link to the how to will help. I took a look at the Django tutorial, but am unsure how much of it is relevant to Djangoappengine and Django-nonrel as a lot of the starting steps have to do with SQL databases. Basically some direction on how to get my app running will be great. Thanx much.

  • How do I change the size of the menus in Visual Studio 2008?

    Hi all. This is the weirdest thing: For some reason, when I'm running VS 2008 in XP, and I use the 'Advanced Appearance settings' control panel to change the Size of menu items in all applications, Visual Studio 2008 is unaffected by the change. (That's Control Panel - Display - Appearance tab - Advanced - select 'Menu' from the item drop-down, and change the Font size) Anyone else noticed this? Is anyone aware of a fix? Thanks in advance!

  • ctypes import not working on python 2.5

    Hi, I am trying to import ctypes, and I am using Python 2.5.5 installed using macports (on Mac OS X 10.6). I get an error saying "ImportError: No module named _ctypes" (see details below). As I understand it ctypes is supposed to come preinstalled for python 2.5.   • My PHP script for sending emails wont send

Now, all I really changed(other than the contents), is the receiver, to my email address. However, I'm not getting it in my inbox. Is there something else I need? Do I need to do something with the settings on the server(or have my school enable something)?

    DatabaseError at /admin/delmarva/event/ no such column: delmarva_event.eventdate I created a class in my models.py file: from django.db import models from django.contrib.auth.models import User class Event(models.Model): eventname = models.CharField(max_length = 100) eventdate = models.DateField() eventtime = models.TimeField() address = models.CharField(max_length = 200) user = models.ForeignKey(User) def __unicode__(self): return self.eventname and now when i try to view my events in my admin or my main_page it gives me the error that there is no eventdate. I tried syncing the db again but nothing changed. Also, I hashtagged eventdate out to see if I get a different error and then it states that delmarva_event.eventtime does not exist as well. I It is weird because it does not have a problem with eventname. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I'm trying to build a web browser using PyGTK and PyWebKit However, I'm pretty sure my question only concerns PyGTK I have a custom gtk.Notebook class, with an "add tab" button as the last tab. When I click it, it gives me the error /home/ruiqimao/workspace/PyBrowser/src/browser/__init__.py:161: GtkWarning: IA__gdk_window_get_cursor: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed gtk.main() twice.     Hi All I need to read a CSV file in python. Since for last row I receive a 'NULL byte' error I would like to avoid using for keyword but the while.   • Is it possible to use maven only for running selenium plugin?

    Our pom.xml currently contains both the build settings, as well as execution of selenium using selenium-maven-plugin. I would like to split it in to two pom files, one for the build and unit tests and the second one for executing selenium tests. (This way I could first build the project in Hudson, and after successful build execute Selenium tests using another project). Is it possible to configure maven to only execute the selenium-maven-plugin?
