  I am going to use a small SQLite database to store some data that my application will use. I am trying the following code: 0 use strict; 10 my @frame_events = (((1) x 10), ((1) x 10)); 20 print "$frame_events[1][1]\n"; but it gives the following error: Can't use string ("1") as an ARRAY ref while "strict refs" in use at ./dyn_pf.pl line 20. This syntax only seems to initialize a 1d array as print "$frame_events[1]\n" works. Though perl doesn't give any error during the assignment.

  Is there a way I can reset the style of a certain character sequence? I'm using the listings package to display source code and the prebreak property to display a escape character \ to indicate that the current lines was broken. The problem is that sometimes the backslash is colored because of the syntax highlighting used. I want to add a condition that if the parameter of @IsPrestigeFeatured = 0 then update all of the other rows < PropertyId in the IsprestigeFeatured column to 0 and if @IsPrestigeFeatured = 1 then IsprestigeFeatured = 1 where propertyId = PropertyId.   I need to make a little JS app to scroll automatically through a list of URLs. I've chosen to have the functionality in a pop-up, for various reasons. The syntax to change the opening window's URL is: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example.com"; This works fine with one URL, but if two statements are called, only one is executed. I experimented with an alert statement between two of the above statements, and the alert event made the second statement function properly: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example1.com"; alert("hello world"); window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example2.com"; Question is: does anyone know how to get the first and second window.opener statements to work, without the intervening alert();? Also, how can I add a pause between the two statements, so that the second executes a couple of seconds after the first? Thanks so much!

• Pipe less to emacs

  When viewing piped output to Less, sometimes I'd like to be able to view it in Emacs in order to get syntax highlighting and use emacs commands for searching, marking, copying, etc. I see that Less has a v command that can be used to open the currently viewed file in $EDITOR. Unfortunately this doesn't work when viewing piped input. Also, I don't know how to get Emacs to display stdin as a read-only document. So, is it possible to set up Less with something like v but that pumps the current buffer into Emacs as a read-only file? Thanks.

And as a read/write test, to me it looks a bit pointless to read the same integer over and over (if I understand well what's going on in the Stream Read/Write) Wouldn't it be better to read int's from the previously written file and just read and write ints on the same place? Is there a better way to illustrate it? I've been breaking my head about a lot of these things for a while and I just can't get the whole picture..

  Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. Questions: To get started, I set up a local directory and do git clone git://github.com/mikl/drupal.git ... Will this clone all of the branches? Or will it only clone master? The web front-end for github gives me a "drop down" menu that allows me to switch branches ... Does changing this drop-down actually change which branch I will be grabbing when I run git clone? If I want a new copy of this repository on my local machine, but I am interested in only two branches of this repository and I want to ignore all the rest, what command do I use to ensure I clone only those two branches and nothing else (assume one of the branches is master)?

  I'd like to go through a binary file my teacher gave me line by line to check addresses on the stack and the contents of different registers, but I'm not extremely familiar with using gdb. Although I have the C code, we're supposed to work entirely from a binary file. Here are the commands I've used so far: (gdb) file SomeCode Which gives me this message: Reading symbols from ../overflow/SomeCode ...(no debugging symbols found)...done. Then I use : (gdb) disas main which gives me all of the assembly. I wanted to set up a break point and use the "next" command, but none of the commands I tried work. Also, the site says to run the following commands: $ mkdir ets $ cd ets # and copy ets.py here $ python ets.py clone Typing those lines in Python Shell gives me the message: "SyntaxError: invalid syntax" As you can see, I'm new to Python, and I don't know what I'm doing.   Short version: How do I set a Git remote's HEAD ref to point to something besides "master"? My project has a policy not to use a "master" branch (all branches are to have meaningful names). Furthermore, the canonical master repository is only accessible via ssh://, with no shell access (like GitHub or Unfuddle). My problem is that the remote repository still has a HEAD reference to refs/heads/master, but I need it to point to a different branch. This is causing two problems: When cloning the repo, there this, warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout. That's confusing and inconvenient. The web-based code browser depends on HEAD as a basis for browsing the tree. I need HEAD to point to a valid branch, then.

I think I have to use <sysproperty key="java.library.path" value="/some/path"/> but it doesnt work. I cannot make the syntax work. The only thing I have Googled and found is sysproperty in conjunction with <java classname> but that doesnt make any sense to me. I am not sure if this is relevant, but I am using ant to create a ear and deploying this ear in JBoss.

• Playing around with Eclipse features - Project files are now hidden?

  I don't even remember how, but somehow I managed to make all of my project's source files hidden in Eclipse's Package and Project Explorer panels. Go figure. 'Show Filtered Children (alt+click)' temporarily reveals the files, and only in Package Explorer can I double-click to reopen them from this view. They go back into hiding after I select another item, though. Plus, now I'm getting other annoyances, such as all of the folded non-hidden trees altogether expanding when I click on any item, and the entire file folder tree of my project now being shown in these panels (including my .svn subversion folders... which shouldn't be any of Eclipse's business, presently). Long story short, my Package/Project Explorers' just blew up on me, and I want to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance. P.S. What's a good guide I can use to learn my way around this silly contraption, anyway?

  I'm trying to get a stored procedure to work using the following syntax: select count(sl.Item_Number) as NumOccurrences from spv3SalesDocument as sd left outer join spv3saleslineitem as sl on sd.Sales_Doc_Type = sl.Sales_Doc_Type and sd.Sales_Doc_Num = sl.Sales_Doc_Num where sd.Sales_Doc_Type='ORDER' and sd.Sales_Doc_Num='OREQP0000170' and sl.Item_Number = 'MCN-USF' group by sl.Item_Number having count (distinct sl.Item_Number) = 0 In this particular case when the criteria is not met the query returns no records and the 'count' is just blank. I need a 0 returned so that I can apply a condition instead of just nothing. I'm guessing it is a fairly simple fix but beyond my simple brain capacity. Any help is greatly appreciated. Wally
