  This is the first iPhone application i am working on. To use the application, the user has to login to our server. I am done with that part. Now the problem i am facing is how to logout the user from the server, deallocate all the memory and start afresh without quitting the app. After the user logs out, i want the exact same things to happen as in applicationdidfinishlaunching method. But i dont know how to go about it. The app has a tab bar which is set up in mainWindow.xib.

  I am creating a Spanish application in C# which will help first year students at my high school. I want to create a "custom keyboard" for characters that cannot be easily typed (Á É Í Ó Ú Ñ Ü ¡ ¿ á é í ó ú ñ ü). • Why do external Java libraries paths have to be refreshed in eclipse between starts?

  For my school projects, I use the joda-time API for generating timestamps that are used for file names and logging. Getting eclipse to recognize the library is no problem. However, when I start eclipse between reboots, I get the red X in the project tree because the external API cannot be found, even though the file path has not changed. So each time, I have to go to the Libraries tab in Build Path to re-target the API. Frankly, this is getting to be a PIMA. So is there any way to have the path be permanent, so I don't have to do the Build Path rigmarole all the time?

• Linking Boost to my C++ project in Eclipse

  I'm trying to get the Boost library working in my C++ projects in Eclipse. I can successfully build when using header-only libraries in Boost such as the example simple program in the "Getting Started" guide using the lambda header. I cannot get my project to successfully link to the regex Boost library as shown later in the guide. Under my project properties - c/c++ build - settings - tool settings tab - libraries, I have added "libboost_regex" to the Libraries box, and "C:\Program Files\boost\boost_1_42_0\bin.v2\libs" to the Library search path box since this is where all the .lib files are. I've even tried adding "libboost_regex-mgw34-mt-d-1_42.lib" to the libraries box instead of "libboost_regex" since that is the exact file name, but this did not work either. I keep getting an error that says "cannot find -llibboost_regex" when I try to build my project. Any ideas as to how I can fix this?

• Do I have to remove VS 2010 beta1 in order to get a web app to work on asp.net 2.0?

  I think the title is enough :). I have VS 2010 beta1 installed, and I wish to run an asp.net mvc application on my local IIS. The problem is, the asp.net 4.0 runtime is selected by default for all the web sites, when I try to change it to asp.net 2.0, I get the following error message: I click yes, then ok, and when I get back to the ASP.NET tab of my site's properties, I see the 4.0 version is selected back again! Do I have to remove VS 2010 in order to get this to work? (hopefully not) Ps: I'm using windows XP and IIS 5.1

• FORTRAN function returning an array causes a segfault (calling from C++)

  Basically, here's my problem. I'm calling someone else's FORTRAN functions from my C++ code, and it's giving me headaches. Some code: function c_error_message() character(len = 255) :: c_error_message errmsg(1:9) = 'ERROR MSG' return end That's the FORTRAN function. My first question is: Is there anything in there that would cause a segfault? If not, then second: What does that return? A pointer? I'm trying to call it with the following C statement: char *e = c_error_message_(); That causes a segfault. c_error_message(); That too causes a segfault. I declared c_error_message_() earlier on with the following code: extern"C" { char* c_error_message_(); } Would declaring a function with a different return type than the actual return type cause a segfault? I'm at a loss. Thanks for any replies.

• Process for linking static ObjC libraries in XCode

  I'm trying to link to a static library and I keep getting linker errors. I've found a few sites that post examples but I have not been able to see what I am doing wrong. First I create a project that will link to my lib add existing files find my .xcodeproj file select "Copy items into destination groups folder"... Select my host project as Add To Targets. Then I add a direct dependency to my host app expand targets double click MyHost.app click + under direct dependencies select my lib Then I set build flags double click MyHost application icon in Groups and Files. click the build tab then I set the OtherLinerFlag to -ObjC then I set Header Search Paths to my header file location for my static library. I pass the compile stage but any classes in my static lib cause linker error: literal-pointer@_OBJC@_cls_refs@SomeClass in MyHost.o thanks!

  i'm trying to get a tab bar effect not unlike russel quinn's 'creative review' app. the tabbar swipes across, which i have figured out, but the tabbar style itself is unlike anything i've seen on the iphone (though it looks so simple!). it has square buttons with a space between, and each button has a select/active/inactive state. i'm having a hard time seeing how this can be tabbar, but i don't know any other way. can someone explain this? here's the example :: http://bit.ly/c8CeBC. any help is appreciated.

• Memory leak while using emoticons on CRichEditCtrl

  I'm developing a text editor class (for a chat application) based on CRichEditCtrl (MFC) with emoticon support. After i load the emoticon's bitmap, I use the function OleCreateStaticFromData to insert it into CRichEditCtrl. After that i just delete the bitmap object allocated by myself. I can verify (using a GDIView utility) that all resources i allocate have been properly released. This works perfectly: the bitmap (emoticon) is drawn on the CRichEditCtrl window and is handled just like a character. My problem is that I don't know how to deallocate the memory (internal) allocated by OleCreateStaticFromData to manage the bitmap (emoticon). The memory allocated for any emoticon used is never released, even if i delete the CRichEditCtrl object. I'd like to know how to fix that issue. Is that a MFC's issue or i'm doing something wrong ? • Bash PS1 settings - how to get the current folder back as the terminal title

  Hi all. I recently added these lines to my ~/.bashrc file to show the current branch if i'm in a git working folder, and it works nicely for that. However, what i've lost is that the current folder name used to be shown in the tab for the terminal i have open, and now it isn't: it always just says 'Terminal'. Can i get that back and still keep the git stuff? Here's the lines in question - it's the second one that's the issue, as commenting out just the second line fixes the problem. source /etc/bash_completion.d/git PS1='\h:\w$(__git_ps1 "\[\e[32m\][%s]\[\e[0m\]")$ ' I've been looking at explanations of the options for PS1 but can't see anything about the terminal window's title in there. • Code/Approach Golf: Find row in text file with too many columns

  Given a text file that is supposed to contain 10 tab-delimited columns (i.e. 9 tabs), I'd like to find all rows that have more than 10 columns (more than 9 tabs). Each row ends with CR-LF. Assume nothing about the data, field widths, etc, other than the above. Comments regarding approach, and/or working code would be extremely appreciated. • count(*) is it really expensive ?

  I have a page where i have 4 tabs displaying 4 different reports based of different tables. Now i get row count of each tabled using select count() from table query and display number of rows available in each table on the tabs. Now with each page post back 5 count() queries are executed (4 to get counts and 1 for pagination) and 1 query for getting report. Now my question is should is count(*) query really expensive that i should keep the row counts (at least which are displayed on tab) in view state of page instead of queering each time? How much expensive it is ?

• How to navigate through folders without opening a new buffer in Emacs?

  (I don't know if it is important, but I am using Aquamacs - and yeah, I am a newbie) When I want to open a file I use C-x C-f and usually just chose my home folder. From there I go clicking on folders until I find the file I want. I really don't like thought that each new file I open creates a new buffer. This is especially annoying because I am using Aquamacs with the window (tab) option enabled. I know I could simply get rid of the window option, but I quite like it, except of course for when I open a file and a zillion tabs are created. So my question is: is there a way to disable the new buffer creation when "navigating" through folders? Thanks :)

To navigate, Right click on 'Mycomputer' - Properties - Advanced tab - click on SETTINGS of 'Startup and recovery' = 2nd displayed check box. The value thought to be in c:\boot.ini file, but it has value of other timeout 'Time to display other operating systems'. After some searching, i found that 'c:\windows\bootstat.dat' file holds the timeout value for 'Time to display recovery options when needed'... but, i am not able to decode the .dat file or edit that file.. any suggestions would he helpful for me.. • Any "trick" to use some keys to launch an application?

  Hello, I am currently developing an free application (TaskOS ) that allow users to have multitasking and switch easily between applications on their mobile ( like alt+tab in Windows ) That work pretty well and user can launch my application by a long press on the "search" button" by adding this line in the manifest: <action android:name="android.intent.action.SEARCH_LONG_PRESS" /> I also succeed to allow to the users to Use the camera button ( they can of course disable that in application settings) and the way to do that is slighlty different: <receiver android:name=".CameraPressed"> <intent-filter android:priority="10000"> <action android:name="android.intent.action.CAMERA_BUTTON"/> </intent-filter> I am now wondering if there are other ways to launch easily my task switcher?   I am using Eclipse and SVNSubversion as a repository for a Java project. After updating the local repository and starting Eclipse, an error (in the Problems tab) appeared stating that a specific prop-base file was missing from the build path. Being inexperienced, I have accidentally deleted the prop-base file icon from the project build-path library section. Since then the numbers of errors have grown exponentially... What should I do? Updating the local repository and/or starting a new Eclipse project from the same source did not solve the problem, does anyone have an idea?

  I am having problems finding any other information than the docs for how to save the tab order for my UITabBarController, so that the user's customization is saved for next app launch. I have searched online, but have been unable to find any blog posts or articles that goes through the proper code for doing this. I realize I have to use the delegate methods for the UITabBarController (didEndCustomizingViewControllers:) but I am not sure how I best approach persistance in terms of saving the state of the order the user wants the tabs in. But if I where to try and use it on a data frame: a <- data.frame(rep("a",4), 1:4,1:4, c(1,NA,NA,NA)) a t(apply(a, 1, LOCF)) # will make a mess It will turn my data frame into a character matrix. Can you think of a way to do LOCF on a data.frame, without turning it into a matrix? (I could use loops and such to correct the mess, but would love for a more elegant solution) Cheers, Tal

• Can you Export/Import Flex (4) Data Services?

I'm working in flashbuilder 4 (flex4?), and am being asked to create the client-side data services integration 'layer' in a flex app. There is another team working on the actual UI/Presentation. Both parts must be deployed in a single swf. If I use the data/services wizard to build out my service connections (and generate the ActionScript), is it possible to export these 'connections' so that they can easily be imported into another project? Or must they be defined through the wizard all over again? The other team wants to be able to see the connections appear in the new project's Data/Services inspector (IDE Tab). Thanks!
