• Failed to Kill Process in SQL 2008

  I have a process with the following information, and i execute the kill process to kill this id, and it return me "Only user processes can be killed." SPID:11 Status:BACKGROUND Login:sa HostName: . BlkBy: . DBName: SAFEMIG Command:CHECKPOINT Normally, all the session to login to this server, it should have a HostName which display our PC name, but this connection is with a dot, so not sure who is executing what process that have this connection. I execute "dbcc inputbuffer(11)" It return me"EventType= No Event, Parameters = 0 and EventInfo=Null" Appreciate for any help\advice on this problem!

  hi, I have methods which return interface and some methods which accepts interface as parameters. I am trying to use Net DataContractSerializer but I am getting following error... The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:id. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 120. XML 'Element' 'http://tempuri.org/:id' does not contain expected attribute 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/:Type'. The deserializer has no knowledge of which type to deserialize. Check that the type being serialized has the same contract as the type being deserialized.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Please help me how to resolve this error.... • How does Hadoop perform input splits?

  Hi, This is a conceptual question involving Hadoop/HDFS. Lets say you have a file containing 1 billion lines. And for the sake of simplicity, lets consider that each line is of the form <k,v> where k is the offset of the line from the beginning and value is the content of the line. Now, when we say that we want to run N map tasks, does the framework split the input file into N splits and run each map task on that split? or do we have to write a partitioning function that does the N splits and run each map task on the split generated? All i want to know is, whether the splits are done internally or do we have to split the data manually? • Which method of creating javascript objects is better?

  I've seen objects defined in two different ways, which function similarly, but are, of course, fundamentally different. You can do it either like this: var myobject = {property: 'hello', act: function() { this.property += ' world'; }}; and like this: function myobject() { this.property = 'hello'; this.act = function() { this.property += 'world'; } } The second method could create objects like so var newobj = new myobject(); but you could do something similar using the first notation by making the object the return value of a function. The new keyword has the advantage of being able to pass parameters that can be used to initialize the properties of the object, but you could just as easily add an init function to the first kind of object. Just wondering if besides these two differences, if there was a fundamental difference that made one method definitely better than the other method.

• Add columns to SqlWebEventProvider

  In an asp.net application, we'd like to use the SqlWebEventProvider to log any Event that occurs during the application lifetime. The problem is that we think that the table aspnet_WebEvent_Event doesn't provide enough columns and should log more information (we need to keep the Logged user). I'm aware that this information could be stored in the "Details" column but it wouldn't then be really simple to filter the results and build reports. So I'm searching for a simple solution to add a column. I wish I could derive SqlWebEventProvider but the methods used to build the stocked procedure parameters are private (PrepareParams() and FillParams()). Any simple solution that doesn't imply to rewrite the entire Provider class ?

• jQuery UI sortable issue with helper Y offset value being same as scroll offset on FireFox only

  I have a problem with a jQuery UI 1.7.2 sortable list in Firefox, IE7-8 work fine. When I'm scrolled down a bit, the helper element seems to have an offset of the same height that I'm scrolled down from the mouse pointer which makes it impossible to see which item you originally started dragging. How do I fix this or work around the issue? If there is no fix what is a really good alternative drag-able plugin?   I've been programming in Asp.Net MVC for quite some time now and to expand a little bit beyond the .Net world I've recently began learning Python and Django. I am enjoying Django but one thing I am missing from Asp.Net MVC is the automatic routing from my urls to my controller actions. In Asp.Net MVC I can build much of my application using this single default route: routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); In Django I've found myself adding an entry to urls.py for each view that I want to expose which leads to a lot more url patterns than I've become used to in Asp.Net MVC. Is there a way to create a single url pattern in Django that will handle "[Application]/view/[params]" in a way similar to Asp.Net MVC? Perhaps at the main web site level?

  i went to the root dir of my website in iis 6. right clicked properties and went the documents tab. i wanted to add a document extension to the list. when i clicked apply i received an inheritance override (UNCPassword and DefaultDoc) pop up showing many dnn files. i clicked cancel in both pop ups and then okay to apply the new document extension. now all my pages only pull up the home page information in dotnetnuke. the url changes in the address bar but only home page information is displayed. what could i have done to break dotnetnuke? are there some inheritance parameters needed? if so can i revert? thanks in advance.

• Trouble making OAuth signed requests

  Hello, I am able to successfully make non-authenticated and protected calls to the Netflix API. I am having a little trouble making signed requests to the catalog, however. Using the OAuth Test page, it is clear to me that my Base String is correct. My request URL is also correct, except for the oauth_signature. The oauth_signature is the only thing that differs. If I understand correctly, the only difference between a protected call and a signed call is that there are no tokens involved, and that I am appending on call parameters (such as term). So, I am using the exact same code that I use for my protected calls that I am for my signed calls, except my signature key ONLY contains my shared secret (with an ampersand sign on the end of it). It does not use the access token. Am I missing something here? Where else can I be going wrong? Thanks!

  I have a VB6 app. I am trying to figure out what command line parameters got passed into the application. If I type in ? Command$ into the Immediate window, it prints out the command line params fine. Same, if I place Command$ into the Watch window. However, if I assign the Command$ function to a string: Dim s as string s = Command$ the s variable will be empty. What am I missing here? I should mention that the code in question is located not in the main form, but in a DLL 2 levels down (e.g. the form calls DLL1, then DLL1 calls DLL2).

• Launching an external application from within a NPAPI Plugin

  I am trying to work out why an NPAPI plugin I have written, which works fine in terms of performing operations triggered via Javascipt calls, cannot use CreateProcess() or ShellExecute() to launch an application from a path specified via the Javascript call. I can seemingly use either of these methods and they return success, i.e. no error code. But the application just does not launch. I have tried modifying the parameters used when calling them, to create new process group etc. But seemingly with no effect. I know this may seem like a bit of a security risk, but for the very specific purpose we wish to use it for it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks.

• retain drop down value page posting back to itself asp.net

  I have an aspx page that has... if (!IsPostBack) { PopulateBrand(); in the Page_Load. This PopulateBrand() simply populates my drop down. That works great and on post back it retains the value. The problem I'm having is that there is also a link on the page that is posting back some parameters to this page. What is happening is that when this is clicked it's falling through this !IsPostBack section and wiping out my drop down values that I had selected and repopulating it. How can I prevent this and just retain what I selected when this page is posting back to itself when the link is clicked? Thanks.

  I have an update method in my users controller that I call from a HTTPService in Flex 4.
