• C#/WPF FileSystemWatcher on every extension on every path

  I need FileSystemWatcher, that can observing same specific paths, and specific extensions. But the paths could by dozens, hundreds or maybe thousand (hope not :P), the same with extensions. The paths and ext are added by user. Creating hundreds of FileSystemWatcher it's not good idea, isn't it? So - how to do it? Is it possible to watch/observing every device (HDDs, SD flash, pendrives, etc.)? Will it be efficient? I don't think so... . Every changing Windows log file, scanning file by antyvirus program - it could realy slow down my program with SystemWatcher :(

• Is it possible to find out what FlashBuilder is doing during compilation?

  I've found that Flash Builder 4 (formerly Flex Builder) has trouble working with large projects. After a certain point, builds seem to take longer and longer. I've tried many different ways of improving build time including: Moving embedded resources into externally linked projects. Using -incremental. Tweaking the .ini jvm settings including memory and -server. Turning off automatic build (I'd prefer not to have to do this, because one of the main reasons for using an IDE is to be told about errors as you make them). Deleting the project and re-checking out from the repository. While some of these may help a bit, the performance is still annoyingly slow. I feel if I knew what was taking so long I could refactor my projects to build faster. Is there some setting that tells FlashBuilder to let me see what parts of the build process take so much time?

• Record demo and save as AVI for upload to YouTube?

  Hello I need to record the demo of a program in Windows, and save this into an AVI file so that I can upload it to YouTube. I tried Wink for this, but unless I overlooked it, it saves files as Flash (FLV), which YouTube refused. Is there an open-source alternative? I don't need something hardcore, just a tool that will let me save a demo, and insert a couple of slides where the demo stops to let the user read stuff and click on a button to resume watching. I'm trying to make a media Download bar for Chrome Browser like Real Player's one ( a DLL plugin ): Whenever you open a web-page which contents "media stream" like Youtube..., it will show a download bar at the left-top corner of the flash player - allow you to download this video/song to your computer. I know it use NPAPI to catch the media stream but how? Which method do I have to use? Is there any document for me? I have never worked on a NPAPI-project before. • Can Uploadify send e-mail on complete?

  Uploadify is a jQuery/Flash plugin for uploading multiple files. It's working great, except I can't figure out how trigger e-mail when all files are complete. If I try to add something like <% SendEmail(); %> to the onAllComplete parameter, it just sends the e-mail when the page loads. Is there a way to do this within the handler recommended here or from this post? Or is there some way to trigger a post in the onAllComplete parameter?

  some week in the future i will have job to create php web app that will work as billing process. As the client and my team agree upon, the web app will only deploy in their internal server.   I am trying to get some Javascript working in my Rails app. I want to have my index page allow me to edit individual items on the index page, and then reload the index page upon edit. • Pre-load audio files at the client-side for later use

  I'm building an online test which implements audio (mp3) using the native audio player (i.e. non Flash-based). The test shows one question at a time and loads each subsequent question asynchronously. Some questions have an accompanying audio file, others don't, and the audio files can be several MB in size. So what I'm hoping to do is to preload the audio files client-side at the start of the test and then move these into place when the relevant question comes up. So far I've tried loading an audio file into a QuickTime player, then when that question comes up I use jQuery's clone(true) method to copy this into a part of the page which is displayed. However, when I do this the QuickTime player has to reload the audio file from source. Same is true for Windows Media Player. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can preload the audio client-side and then call it forward when needed?

  Wild question here. Is it possible to access the copy buffer on the web. What I mean is. Can I go into Photoshop. Select a piece of a photo. Copy that piece and paste it into some element. That something would be like a Java applet or Flash or Silverlight or anything. I am just wondering if it is possible and if someone could point me in a direction. Since a few google searches have only found where you can copy files and paste via a Java applet.

  Hi, i've started to use sIFR3. I don't know how to turn on smoothing of font. Do i need to change it in my font.swf file? In FF3 it work perfect, everything is okay, but when i turn on my IE8, nothing changes. Even live example doesn't work (http://work.likeaninja.co.uk/sifr/demo/). What's going on? My Flash Player is "WIN 10,1,51,95" (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html). I thinks it's beta, but it shouldn't change anything. Help!

• Accessing contents of a file in a web-application without uploading.

  As far as I can tell, it is impossible to access the content of files on the user's computer in a web application without first uploading to the server, then re-downloading to user, unless some sort of plug-in is used. (Flash, etc.) Ideally, the user would upload the file directly to localstorage and then scripts would have a chance to process/display/validate/filter without the user having to wait on an upload. Are there any features in upcoming web standards such as html5 that will allow this? If not, why has there been no effort to make this possible, and how can I work around it without getting stuck with plugins?

• How do I load multiple FLV files, with the same COMPLETE event handler?

  When loading files with the Loader in ActionScript 3, I am able to inspect the event attribute on the complete event handler to determine what the URL is for the file that has completed downloading. Loader exposes a variable in the event handler attribute: event.target.url which I means that when the handler returns, I can easily determine which file is loading. However, my client has sent numerous FLV files built in After Effects that constitute the UI elements of a Flash application built for them. Loading FLV files require the use of URLLoader, and this does not appear to expose the name of the file being loaded. So I either need to convert the FLV's to SWF, so I can load them as normal. Is there a way to determine the URL inside the onComplete event handler fired by URLLoader?

• HTA value update freezes when file copy starts

• how to preform an activity at the android lock screen?

  I would like to perform an activity at the key guard screen, but the only way I can find to do so is to disable the key guard, do my activity, then re enable the key guard. This would be ok if it didn't cause the key guard screen to flash off and on (disable makes it disappear then re enable brings it back). I am wondering how I can perform an activity with it still being displayed? Kinda like how when the alarm goes off it shows a pop-up which is displayed over the key-guard screen?

• Which video format(s) should a webapp serve?

  I need to put up a few videos on a Webapp and I'm a bit lost. My requirements are: DRM is not a concern at all it should work on the iPhone (and iPad) and on the main browsers (Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera). it is not a problem at all if the video doesn't play on Linux (because it's a video/screencast of a Windows/OS X software targetted at, well, Windows and OS X users) it is not a problem at all if it also works on Linux (I'm a Linux user myself) Can a unique format be served (like H.264) and play without any additional work on my part or do I need to convert the videos to different formats and have the webapp serve different video formats depending on the browser used? Should I use the "video" tag of HTML5 when I detect an HTML5 capable browser? What's the "safest" bet here? I take it that Flash is out of the equation seen that iPhone/iPad is a requirement.

  I saw a flash website and was curious to now if this is something possible to build using Jquery, obviously not the entire thing. I was more looking to fade out div1 and div2 with a button click. This is the example site: www.justinfarrellyconstruction.com Example: If i come to the homepage and click the portfolio button the Gallery Div will fade out then fade in another image. • Java file delete on NFS drive

  Hey guys. I am trying to delete a file on a NFS drive. I have had other problems manipulating files on remote drives such as moving a file - however i got around it by not using the conventional method i.e renameFile but instead properly using input and output streams. However using the File.delete() returns false , and I have heard suggestions on using the apache commons io FileUtils class - however it just throws an IO exception. Does anybody have any suggestions on a way to delete a file on a network mounted drive using java? Thanks

• Visual Studio (2005 & 2008) Compile Completed Alert?

  Does anyone know of any kind of plugin or alert system which will let me know when my compiles are completed? Some of the solutions I work with are gigantic and sometimes the compiles can take 5-20 minutes (depending on the PC). Thus I would like to do something else in the meantime, but I don't want to keep checking back to see if the compile is done. Is there any way to have a windows alert, or flash the screen when the compile is done? It would let me browse the internet whilst waiting for the compile to finish without worrying that its been complete and I'm just wasting time.

• Developing web app, question for mobile developers

  I'm going to develop a web app that I expect some people will also end up wanting to view on their phones. The UI will be fairly straightforward (no frames, just CSS/HTML). May have a bit of Flash, but not for the first version. My question is, for testing viewing of the web app on mobile devices what devices would you recommend that I test on (and thus, most likely, have to purchase)? Windows Mobile iPhone Android Other? or can I use emulators for any/all of these? Note that I'm not developing a platform (android, iPhone) specific app, just a web application that I expect will also be accessed from a mobile phone. I apologise if this seems like a niave/stupid question, but this hobby project is totally away from my commercial experience and I just don't know the answers to these questions, hence asking here. • Should I move client to Lamp or develop on Wamp?

  I have never developed for WAMP, the hosting guy for my new client says they are using Windows servers, they can setup PHP and MySQL for me, but they cannot switch to a *nix server. He said there are some nuances from PHP on *nix Vs. win. So my question is, if I have never programmed PHP on win, should I go through the hassle of switching hosts (since they cannot do *nix themselves), or are the differences slight enough that it shouldn't be too big a problem for me? (side note: the state of the clients website has no effect since it is a static all-flash site and is going to be completely rebuilt) Thanks!
