• Deploying Application with mvc in shared hosting server

  We have created an MVC web application in asp.net 3.5, it runs absolutely fine locally but when we deploy it on godaddy hosting server (shared hosting), it shows an error which is related to trust level problem. We contacted godaddy support and they say, that we only support medium trust level application. So how to convert my application in medium trust level. Do I need to make changes to web.config file. • Outputing value of TrueClass / FalseClass to integer or string/

  Hello. I'm trying to figure out if there is an easy way to do the following short of adding to_i method to TrueClass/FalseClass. Here is a dilemma: I have a boolean field in my rails app - that is obviously stored as Tinyint in mysql. However - I need to generate xml based of the data in mysql and send it to customer - there SOAP service requires the field in question to have 0 or 1 as the value of this field. So at the time of the xml generation I need to convert my False to 0 and my True to 1 ( which is how they are stored in the DB). Since True & False lack to_i method I could write some if statement that generate either 1 or 0 depending on true/false state. However I have about 10 of these indicators and creating and if/else for each is not very DRY. So what you recommend I do? Or I could add a to_i method to the True / False class. But I'm not sure where should I scope it in my rails app? Just inside this particular model or somewhere else?

• Need some help/advice on WCF Per-Call Service and NServiceBus interop.

  I have WCF Per-Call service wich provides data for clients and at the same time is integrated with NServiceBus. All statefull objects are stored in UnityContainer wich is integrated into custom service host. NServiceBus is configured in service host and uses same container as service instances. Every client has its own instance context(described by Juval Lowy in his book in chapter about Durable Services). If i need to send request over bus I just use some kind of dispatcher and wait response using Thread.Sleep().Since services are per-call this is ok afaik. But I am confused a bit about messages from bus, that service must handle and provide them to clients. For some data like stock quotes I just update some kind of statefull object and and then, when clients invoke GetQuotesData() just provide data from this object. But there are numerous service messages like new quote added and etc. At this moment I have an idea to implement something like "Postman daemon" =)) and store this type of messages in instance context. Then client will invoke "GetMail()",recieve those messages and parse them. Problem is that NServiceBus messages are "Interface based" and I cant pass them over WCF, so I need to convert them to types derieved from some abstract class. Dunno what is best way to handle this situation. Will be very gratefull for any advice on this. Thanks in advance.

Object_Pointer ist definied as access all Object. From my understanding the type Object is Node, therefore Object_Ptr is access all Node. What is gnat complaining about? I guess my understanding of Ada generics is flawed and I am not using System.Address_To_Access_Conversions correctly. EDIT: I compiled my code with "gnatmake -gnatG" to see the generic instantiation: package address_node is subtype btree__clear__address_node__object__2 is btree__node; type btree__clear__address_node__object_pointer__2 is access all btree__clear__address_node__object__2; function to_address (value : btree__clear__address_node__object_pointer__2) return system__address; end address_node; btree__node is the mangled name of the type Node as defined above, so I really think the parameter type for to_address() is correct, yet gnat is complaining (see above).

• Converting an integer to a boxed enum type only known at runtime

  Imagine we have an enum: enum Foo { A=1,B=2,C=3 } If the type is known at compile-time, a direct cast can be used to change between the enum-type and the underlying type (usually int): static int GetValue() { return 2; } ... Foo foo = (Foo)GetValue(); // becomes Foo.B And boxing this gives a box of type Foo: object o1 = foo; Console.WriteLine(o1.GetType().Name); // writes Foo (and indeed, you can box as Foo and unbox as int, or box as int and unbox as Foo quite happily) However (the problem); if the enum type is only known at runtime things are... trickier. It is obviously trivial to box it as an int - but can I box it as Foo? (Ideally without using generics and MakeGenericMethod, which would be ugly). Convert.ChangeType throws an exception. ToString and Enum.Parse works, but is horribly inefficient. I could look at the defined values (Enum.GetValues or Type.GetFields), but that is very hard for [Flags], and even without would require getting back to the underlying-type first (which isn't as hard, thankfully). But; is there a more direct to get from a value of the correct underlying-type to a box of the enum-type, where the type is only known at runtime?

  hi everyone, i am trying to convert a timestamp of the format: 2009-09-12 20:57:19 and turn it into something like '3 minutes ago' with php. I found a useful script to do this, but I think its looking for a different format to be used as the time variable. • Django-South introspection rule doesn't work.

  I'm using Django 1.2.3 and South 0.7.3. I am trying to convert my app (named core) to use Django-South. I have a custom model/field that I'm using, named ImageWithThumbsField. It's basically just the ol' django.db.models.ImageField with some attributes such as height, weight, etc. While trying to ./manage.py convert_to_auth core I receieve South's freezing errors. I have no idea why, I'm Probably missing something...   Hi there, I need to find out if anything exists between two nodes. My XML looks like this: <event value1="1" value2="2" value3="3" <info="some info here"/> Line 1.</lb> Line 2.</lb></lb> Line 3.</lb> Line 4.</lb> </event> My goal is to convert the </lb> nodes to </br> HTML tags using XSLT. There is one additional requirement to fulfill though. In case there is one </lb> directly following another </lb> I want to output only one </br>. My XSLT looks like this: <xsl:template match="lb"> <xsl:if test="not(preceding-sibling::lb[1])"> <br/> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> The problem with the XSLT above is that it works correctly for line 1 only as the text between both nodes is ignored. Maybe someone here can help.

• AJAX - querying a search engine and returning the number of results

  Right, so basically I need to query a selection of search engines in an AJAX app. As there is a number of different search engines - there's no search engine specific API I can use either. My main problem is getting the number of results returned by the search. So far, I have decided it is probably best to use a regexp from the returned search query HTML, and then convert the string of characters to an integer. However, this method just doesn't feel.. clean to me. It seems a bit rough around the edges and I think it could do with improving! I guess not being 100% confident with regular expressions doesn't help; but it just feels like it could be improved. Any ideas on how to implement this would be great cheers! It doesn't seem like that an exotic thing to do, so I was wondering if perhaps any of you guys have done this before and would have a few tips? Note: This is an AJAX app at the moment, but I may be re-writing this functionality in a different app soon - which won't be AJAX. I'm confident I can transfer any AJAX implementation to the other language though.

  I'm writing some C at the moment and because I like whitespace sensitive syntax, I'd like to write it like this: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) printf("Hello, world!") return 0 Instead of this: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { printf("Hello, world!"); return 0; } Does anybody know of a tool that will convert the former into the latter? Edit: I've really no interest in arguing with those that think this is a bad idea. By all means continue to think that, you have your reasons. But at least know this: I'm aware Python is a whitespace sensitive language but I have not used it. Why would I? I know Ruby already. Also know: I am not just learning C for the first time and I have used PHP and JavaScript for more than four years, so I am not requesting this out of some personal difficulty, lack of familiarity with block syntax, or dogmatic affiliation. I am also aware of what would be involved in writing one of these and that's not beyond my ability but I don't want this enough to justify spending the time writing one.

• al32utf8 in oracle and SQL Server and DB2 pulling data

  I have a non-utf8 oracle database running on 11.1.0.7. We need to support greek characters. So we have two options: use nvarchar, nclob fields for those fields that need greek (it is not all fields). We have tested this and gotten it to work with java coding. convert Oracle to AL32UTF8 database. I am not asking how to do this. I got this from the Oracle Site/Oracle Support. I know what is involved, lossy data, etc, increasing the size of the database. My question is we have users to our system that connect to our database with database links but work on SQL Server and IBM DB2 databases. I do not have access to those databases and I do not have experience with them. If they are not in UTF-8 databases what happens when they pull UTF8 data? I would assume that English/Ascii characters are fine and the greek will end up as junk data. I also ran Oracle Character set scanner (oracle command line utility you use to get info about the affects of a character set conversion). It says that my database will crease in sizez by about 20%. Does this have an affect on users with 3rd party databases? These are customers of our data and there is a limit to how much access I can have to them to run tests. Any information you have would be welcome.

If I convert the dates using as.date to variable x, and do the GAM plot, I get an error. It works fine with the raw day numbers. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index Am I right when I say that, currently, Linq to NHibernate does not support ToLower()? And if so, is there an alternative that allows me to search for a string in the middle of another string that Linq to NHibernate is compatible with? For example, if the user searches for kap, I need it to match Kapiolani, Makapuu, and Lapkap.

  I have a SQL db storing passwords that were encrypted through a .NET application, that I need to decrypt through a ColdFusion app. I just can't seem to get things set upproperly for the CF decryption to work. • mysql image disable print download

  Hi, We use a Flex AIR client and a WAMP server. Tiff images are stored in MySQL. Currently, I can download the image from AIR client and it prompts for a download dialog. Things are fine till this point. We got a new requirement. Requirement is that only some users can print the image which gets downloaded. For other users, they should not be able to print the tiff image. Wondering how to accomplish this. One idea, not sure if its efficient, is to convert the image requested to pdf at the server side, disable print option there(hope there are API's available) and send back the pdf. Please let me know btter ideas. Also, is there a way to prevent file download dialog from popping up everytime the file is requested for download? Can we just get the file stream to the client and manipulate it to open with a particular viewer or write it to pdf... Please help.

• Generic list typecasting problem

  Hello, I'm new to C# and am stuck on the following. I have a Silverlight web service that uses LINQ to query a ADO.NET entity object. e.g.: [OperationContract] public List<Customer> GetData() { using (TestEntities ctx = new TestEntities()) { var data = from rec in ctx.Customer select rec; return data.ToList(); } } This works fine, but what I want to do is to make this more abstract. The first step would be to return a List<EntityObject> but this gives a compiler error, e.g.: [OperationContract] public List<EntityObject> GetData() { using (TestEntities ctx = new TestEntities()) { var data = from rec in ctx.Customer select rec; return data.ToList(); } } The error is: Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.List<SilverlightTest.Web.Customer>' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityObject>'. • Delphi: Fast(er) widestring concatenation

  i have a function who's job is to convert an ADO Recordset into html: class function RecordsetToHtml(const rs: _Recordset): WideString; And the guts of the function involves a lot of wide string concatenation: while not rs.EOF do begin Result := Result+CRLF+ '<TR>'; for i := 0 to rs.Fields.Count-1 do Result := Result+'<TD>'+VarAsString(rs.Fields[i].Value)+'</TD>'; Result := Result+'</TR>'; rs.MoveNext; end; With a few thousand results, the function takes, what any user would feel, is too long to run. The Delphi Sampling Profiler shows that 99.3% of the time is spent in widestring concatenation (@WStrCatN and @WstrCat). Can anyone think of a way to improve widestring concatenation? i don't think Delphi 5 has any kind of string builder. And Format doesn't support Unicode. And to make sure nobody tries to weasel out: pretend you are implementing the interface: IRecordsetToHtml = interface(IUnknown) function RecordsetToHtml(const rs: _Recordset): WideString; end; Update One I thought of using an IXMLDOMDocument, to build up the HTML as xml. But then i realized that the final HTML would be xhtml and not html - a subtle, but important, difference.   I have a list of DrawObject[]. Each DrawObject has a Rectangle property. Here is my event: List<Canvas.DrawObject[]> matrix; void Control_MouseMove ( object sender, MouseEventArgs e ) { IEnumerable<Canvas.DrawObject> tile = Enumerable.Range( 0, matrix.Capacity - 1) .Where(row => Enumerable.Range(0, matrix[row].Length -1) .Where(column => this[column, row].Rectangle.Contains(e.Location))) .????; } I am not sure exactly what my final select command should be in place of the "????". Also, I was getting an error: cannot convert IEnumerable to bool. I've read several questions about performing a linq query on a list of arrays, but I can't quite get what is going wrong with this. Any help? Edit Apologies for not being clear in my intentions with the implementation. I intend to select the DrawObject that currently contains the mouse location.
