  SUMMARY : I have a view where I need to replace the term link "taxonomy/term" by my view link, because the view uses arguments to find content with terms how can I put in link argument the term which is display : [term_name1] link "display_view/term_name1", [term_name2] link "display_view/term_name2" I used [tid] field to put argument in link display_view/[tid] but it only display the first term, and not the real term (for example if multiple taggs it only display the first) and put all the terms in one single link : [term_name1 term_name2] link "display_view/term_name1" so why [tid] or [tid_1] don't run ? is there another field, or do I need php ? really need help ! :) DESCRIPTION : Hello, I made a view table to display store content it display : user name, title, taxonomy term to type (book, disc...), taxonomy term for taggs (subject of objects) for example : USER | TITLE | TERM TYPE (only one) | TERM SUBJECTS (taggs) user1 | James Brown disc | disc | soul jamesbrown user2 | rolls book | book | cars rolls travel so I display different types of terms and in subjects it can have a multiple because it's taggs I use arguments so it can have display for example only store from an user, or from an taxonomy (for examples only the disc, or the disc about soul) so I can link display_view/argtermtype/argtermsubject (I separate the type and subject) MY NEED : what i want is the terms of the view don't redirect on taxonomy/term but on my view so I have to : change the link of terms in view to redirect on display_texts/all/all replace [all] with the [term] argument MY PROBLEM : I can't have the right field of terms displayed in the links of terms in fields, I : checked "Output this field as a link" put the link "display_view/[tid]" for term type and "display_view/all/[tid]" for term subjects NOT checked "Link this field to its term page" what it does : [tid] put in link FOR ALL THE LINE the SAME TERM and it put all the terms in one single link ! that's to say, it creates the links : USER | TITLE | TERM TYPE (only one) | TERM SUBJECTS (taggs) user1 | James Brown disc| [disc] display_texts/disc (ok !) | [soul jamesbrown] (BAD only one link!) display_texts/all/disc (BAD it's not the new term !) what I need : USER | TITLE | TERM TYPE (only one) | TERM SUBJECTS (taggs) user1 | James Brown disc| [disc] display_texts/disc| [soul] display_texts/all/soul [jamesbrown] display_texts/all/jamesbrown) MY QUESTION : so how can I put in argument the term which is display ? My question isn't if you should use an intermediate variable or not, as that depends on the code and can sometimes be a good design decision and sometimes a terrible one. The question is - when would you choose one method over the other? What factors would you consider when deciding whether to use an intermediate step? (I'd assume length and understandability of the fully inlined code would have something to do with it...)

  Hi to all, I'm using Hibernate in a Java application, and i feel that something could be done better for the management of parent/child relationships. I've a complex set of entities, that have some kind of relationships between them (one-to-many, many-to-many, one-to-one, both unidirectional and bidirectional). Every time an entity is saved and it has a parent, to estabilish the relationship the parent has to add the child to its collection (considering a one-to-may relationship). For example: Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); Child c = new Child(); c.setParent(p); p.getChildren().add(c); session.save(c); session.flush(); In the same way, if i remove a child then i have to explicitly remove it from the parent collection too. Child c = (Child) session.load(Child.class, cid); session.delete(c); Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); p.getChildren().remove(c); session.flush(); I was wondering if there are some best practices out there to do this jobs in a different way: when i save a child entity, automatically add it to the parent collection. If i remove a child, automatically update the parent collection by removing the child, etc. For example, Child c = new Child(); c.setParent(p); session.save(c); // Automatically update the parent collection session.flush(); or Child c = (Child) session.load(Child.class, cid); session.delete(c); // Automatically updates its parents (could be more than one) session.flush(); Anyway, it would not be difficult to implement this behaviour, but i was wondering if exist some standard tools or well known libraries that deals with this issue. • Which single IoC/DI container would you recommend using and why?

  I'm asking this question because it's a good way to gauge how the community at large feels about the various containers/frameworks and why. Also, whilst my expertise may lie in .Net development, I am very interested in which frameworks are popular (and why) in other languages. If I feel the need to start digging into Java for instance, then I'd like to hit the ground running with good (comfortable) knowledge that I'm starting in the right direction. Does Ruby even need one with all its magnificent dynamicism? I have my own opinions on the .Net front, and will probably add my own personal favourite in an answer below, but I'm interested in all languages and opinions here. With all that in mind, could you please state only one IoC/DI framework that you use and recommend with the language of choice (Java/Ruby/.Net/Smalltalk etc.) and your reasoning for your choice, and if someone has already answered your particular flavour, then you can just vote it up and add comments to it so that anyone looking for advice in future and see which frameworks are more than likely to work for them once they read your reasoning. I'm hoping that over time, the best ones will bubble up to the top. I realise that this question doesn't have only one correct answer, so I won't be choosing one - the community will decide which framework gets the most votes and why. Of course, if you really feel strongly opposed to a particular brand, you could take the reputation hit and vote it down too, and this question can serve as a true wiki-style entry for research into this field. • Adjust CSS of all cells of a specific table without giving each cell a unique id?

  Is there any way to modify the CSS properties of one table's cells based on the table's ids, rather than specific child ids? I would like to change one table's appearance (giving each cell a colored border, for instance) one way, and another table another way, but I'd like to avoid specifying an id for each cell. To be clear, I don't need to individually access each cell in the table - I just want to set all of the properties of "child" cells of various tables.

  We are running several ASP.NET applications (one per customer) based on our custom framework (which just extend ASP.NET). Each web application use its own database (Initial Catalog in the term of connection string). Now we would like to add workflow capability to the applications (to our framework respectively). The particular workflows will be the same for all the applications only some initial settings of each workflow can vary, e.g. in one application the e-mail will be send to the user X, but in other application to the user Y. The question is if we can install one workflow engine (with one database for persistence) and share this for all workflows in all web applications. If so, how then workflow engine get knows the particular workflow belongs to which web application? Should we store some application identifier somewhere in workflow? Thanks for suggestions!

  I've started working on a simple XML pull-parser, and as I've just defuzzed my mind on what's correct syntax in XML with regards to certain characters/sequences, ignorable whitespace and such (thank you, http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_elements.asp), I realized that I still don't know squat about what can be sketched up as the following case (which Validome finds well-formed very much; note that I only want to use xml files for data storage, no entities, DTD or Schemas needed): <bookstore> <book id="1"> <author>Kurt Vonnegut Jr.</author> <title>Slapstick</title> </book> We drop a pie here. <book id="2">Who cares anyway? <author>Stephen King</author> <title>The Green Mile</title> </book> And another one here. <book id="3"> <author>Next one</author> <title>This time with its own title</title> </book> </bookstore> "We drop a pie here." and "And another one here." are values of the 'bookstore' element. "Who cares anyway?" is a value related to the second 'book' element. How are these processed, if at all? Will "We drop a pie here." and "Another one here." be concatenated to form one value for the 'bookstore' element, or are they treated separately, stored somewhere, affecting the outcome of the parsing of the element they belong to, or...?

• Why does TabStop stop working??

  I have a project that uses a series of auto-generated user control instances. The user-control itself exists, but I populate a panel with a series of these user controls, one for each item in my collection. Each user control displays a ton of information, but only ONE text field is editable. All of the other fields have TabStop set to false, and are marked as ReadOnly. The tab order of each user control is set at the time it is created so that the tab-key goes from one field to the next (or ... it's supposed to). When I have TWO fields on my user control whose TabStop is set to true, everything works great. But if I only have ONE field whose TabStop is true, the tab key stops working, and I have to physically CLICK on the next user control for it to gain focus. What's up? Has anyone else seen this behavior? Am I doing something stupid as usual?

  I have a series of points which I will turn into a line on a graph. What I want is to give the area under the graph a gradient fill. It would look somewhat similar to a Bloomberg graph like this; My question really has three parts; First, how should I fill only the area under the graph? Second, how do I fill that with a gradient? Finally, if I have multiple lines on the same graph any area under more than one line should have a greyscale gradient fill, how would you set this up? My biggest problem is deciding on the data structures to use, I could use many multiple sided shapes (One for each line/ data series) and then tell the brush to draw; Transparent if it's not in any shape The colour of one series if it's in one shape (Alpha relative to height to give grad) Black if it's in multiple shapes (Alpha relative to height to give grad) Then I'd draw the shapes' boundaries in white afterwards. • PHP next MySQL row - how to move pointer until function checks true?

  I have a PHP script which takes a value from a row in my MySQL database, runs it through a function, and if it determines it's true returns one value, and if it's false, it needs to go to the next value in the database and check that one until eventually one returns true. I think I need to use mysql_fetch_assoc, but I'm not really sure in what way to use it... I wish I could post my code to be more specific, but it's a lot of code and most of it has no bearing on this issue...

• Why does Git display certain new folders when checking out old revisions?

  Hey all - I'm still learning the ropes of Git (love it!) but the other day I noticed some behavior I just do not understand. We have, in essence, three folders that got moved into the repository at different times (one immediately after we created the repo, one a little while later, and one just recently). Recently, I had to get some code out of an old revision. I used git checkout <old SHA1 hash> to pull up one of our first checkins, when I noticed Git showed the old folder (as it should), as well as the newest folder (which got added to the repo long after the checked out commit was made). But it did not show the second folder. What would cause Git to display the newest folder with the old revision?

• C#: Access 32-bit/64-bit DLL depending on platform

  Hi, we use a self-written 32bit C++ DLL from our C# applications. Now we've noticed that when the C# applications are run on a 64bit system, the 64bit runtime is automatically used and of course the 32bit DLL can not be accessed from the 64bit runtime. My question is: is there a way of using the 32bit DLL? If not, if I created a 64bit version of the DLL, would it be easily possible to let the application choose which one to P/Invoke to? I'm thinking of creating two helper classes in C#: One that imports the functions from the 32bit DLL and one that imports from the 64bit DLL, then creating a wrapper class with one function for each imported function that calls either the 32bit importer or the 64bit importer depending on the "bittyness" of the OS. Would that work? Or is there another easy way to do things?

  Hi! I have UIScrollView with lots of UIImageView inside. In the loadView method I assign some temporary image for each of subview UIImageView images and starts several threads to async download images from internet. Each thread downloads and assign images as follows: NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:URL]; UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; img_view.image = img; Here is the problem - I expects picture will changed after each image downloaded by I can see only temporary images until all images will downloads. UIScrollView still interact while images downloads - I can scroll temporary images inside it and see scrollers and nothing blocks run loop, but downloaded images doesn't updates.. What I tried to do: Call sleep() in the download thread -- not helps. Call setNeedsDisplay for each ImageView inside ScrollView and for ScrollView -- not helps. What's wrong ? Thanks. Update. I tried some experiments with number of threads and number of images to download. Now I'm sure -- images redraws only when thread finished. For example - if I load 100 images with one thread -- picture updates one time after all images downloads. If I increase number of threads to 10 -- picture updates 10 times -- 10 images appears per update. One more update. I fixed problem by staring new thread from the downloading threads each time one image downloaded and exit current thread (instead of download several images in one thread in the cycle and exit thread only when all downloaded). Obviously it's not a good solution and there must be right approach.

  Hi!  Does anyone have a real-world experience in building such a project? I'd like to move away questions about "is it good idea or not", but focus on possible solutions. I see one simple way - HTTP GET/POST + xml/json - and one more elegant - AJAX/DWR. As for the first one - I understand that it is possible, but needs quite a lot coding. As for second way - is it possible to use Java DWR engine with PHP front-end? Is DWR language-independent for client side (as it uses just JavaScript)?  Would it be a problem, that client page was generated by one web server (for example, apache+php) and served on server-side by another (for example, tomcat)? I suspect, that Tomcat will complain about sessions. Can this problem be fixed with allowing cross-domain AJAX? Thank you in advance. Denis.

• How do I repeat part of an image using background-position and CSS sprites?

  I would like to create some buttons with dynamic width using CSS sprites and background-position but I'm not sure if what I want is possible.. I would like the button to have a left-side, middle, and right-side, with the middle repeating as required. Ideally I would like this to be made up of one image of 11px wide so the left and right sides are both 5px wide and the middle is 1px repeated. Is there some way I can define in CSS to use the one centre pixel of the image and repeat if for the required (unknown) width? Normally I've used two images to achieve similar results - one for the sides and a second image of 1px width for the middle, but if there's some way of combining them into one image I would prefer to use that.

  I want to know how do you manage your vim plugins. As it is, One of the biggest fun of using is that one can easily try many interesing new plugins, just download it and unzip it in under ~/.vim. But if you try too often and try too much, you might get trouble as confilct of key mapping , in compatitble script version, dpendency between different plugin ..... Then you want to remove some plugin ,kind of like rollback your vim to a sound condition. But, the rollback could be very painful . cus for some "giant" plugin, like perl-support ( it's great plugin, anyway), will consist of many vim scripts which spread in different dirctories. To remove single one giant plugin will be anoying, not too mention if you remvoe many plugin at one time. In a word , I'm looking for good practice for managing vim plugins.

The thing that i do not get is..how to deal with classes. I mean main Page has one controller classes that control 6 buttons? • Connect two UIScrollView's together

  Here's a tricky iPhone problem I've been working on. I have three UIScrollViews on a page, one that only scrolls horizontally, one that only scrolls vertically, and one that scrolls both horizontally and vertically. I want to lock the views together, so that the horizontal location of the horizontal only scrollview matches the horizontal location of the main scrollview, and the vertical scrollview likewise, so that dragging the main scrollview around controls the horizontal and vertical scrollviews. Problem is, I'm completely stumped. I've looked around inside the apple documentation, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this officially. One thought that I had was to somehow "clone" any touch on any of the scrollviews to a point on the other two, but I have no idea how to do this. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd very much appreciate it.

• showing description from a carousel, not working when more than 1 carousel on page

  Hi I'm having a problem with a carousel i'm trying to set up. the problem is it doesn't seem to work well when there is more than one carousel on a page. Everytime i hover over an icon the description(which is in a div outside over the main carousel area) is displayed in both carousel, when it should only be displayed in one, how can i change it so that it only shows up in one at a time? here is the link with the code
