• How do I trigger specific parts of a storyboard in WPF?

  I have several grids in my window. I have created a storyboard that moves them left by x pixels when a button is clicked. I want to make it so that when the button is clicked again those grids move another x pixels, however I'm unable to find out how to do this as it's not a common task on tutorials. I have tried creating a second storyboard to do this, however that won't work as then the grids will be back at their starting positions. One solution might be to create a third set of keyframes after the first two sets, and somehow pause the animation when it gets there, and resumes it again when the button is clicked, however I'm not sure how to pause a storyboard when it reaches a keyframe. This would also make reversing the grids difficult (using this approach http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/wpf/thread/ac54de71-f750-4940-91a2-231810308727/), as I'd like to make another button make the grids go the other way.

• Script.PostDeployment.sql not executing in CI build VS 2010

  I have a database project in VS 2010 (SQL 2008). The local Deploy Solution action works and executes all of the SQL in the Script.PostDeployment.sql file. When I check changes in, the Build Definition for the continuous integration server executes. The database is deployed into the CI environment, but the PostDeployment script doesn't get executed. I wasn't able to find anything specific to this particular scenario. I also expect I'll need to provide additional information unless this is a trivial problem that I missed somewhere. Additional Information: The build is executing vsdbcmd.exe to deploy. The deployment manifest references the PostDeployment.sql file and it's present in the path with the rest of the files. • Best practice to send secure information over e-mail?

  I have to send sensitive information (name, address, social security number etc.) collected from a website, that has been entered by a user, to an e-mail address. What is the best course of action to make the information secure and easy to extract on the receiver side? Edit: I will be using ASP.NET for the website, not sure what it has for capabilities on this matter. Edit: If I decide to store the information in a database and just send a mail when a new entry has been made, would this be better? And create some secure way to dump the information instead.

  Hi all. I'm trying to get the green box that appears on the second click of a tri-state checkbox to be red, and also to fill up the box. In our website objects are users, teams, companies, channels and groups (please don't ask why there are groups and teams - it is complicated for me too, but teams are releated to user's talent) Users, teams, channels, companies and groups have all their own tables.   I want to write my own network simulator, for fun and for personal challenge. I hope to learn both new programming techniques, and a little bit more about networking. Previous object-oriented attempts ended very quickly, but I've recently downloaded and played with Microsoft's Axum (a new version was released today) and their Concurrency and Co-ordination Runtime. As I come from a very OO dominant background, I had never heard of Actor-oriented programming before; now it seems I've had my head in the sand until Scala and F# brought the paradigm to me. My questions are: a) is actor-oriented programming a better choice than object-oriented programming for this task, and if so b) where is a good place to start learning actor-oriented design?

• Client / Server application for Video BroadCasting on LAN

  I m much of a newbie to client/server applications and networking.I am currently starting up a project in which we are planning to create an application or something like a website accessible only to clients in that LAN network.We want the server to upload videos so that the clients can view them whenever they want.Also the clients can upload videos.Also we want some kind of registration to provide authentication to avoid bogus videos.Also additional features that can be added on later like comment section,ratings,Groups etc. Basically what we want is to build mini-youtube but with one major difference , we want the application to be LAN based. This is the idea behind the project.But we dont know where to start from as we are new to this stuff and also we have like 1 year to work on the project.Please guide me as to what all softwares i'll be needing to get this working !

• Entity Framework 4.0 Unit Testing

  Hi, I've implemented unit testing along the lines of this article with a fake object context and IObjectSet with POCO in EF4. http://blogs.msdn.com/adonet/archive/2009/12/17/test-driven-development-walkthrough-with-the-entity-framework-4-0.aspx But I'm unsure how to implement a couple of methods on my fake object context for testing. I have CreateQuery and ExecuteFunction methods on my object context interface so that I can execute ESQL and Stored Procedures but I cant (easily) implement them in my fake object context. An alternative would be to use a test double of my repository instead of a double of my object context as suggested here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/adonetefx/thread/c4921443-e8a3-4414-92dd-eba1480a07ad/ But this would mean my real repository isnt being tested and would seem to just bypass the issue. Can anyone offer any recommendations?

• Help with variables and new lines, and quoting in a bash script

  I would like to automate the following svn command. Note this command produces the desired results on my system - Ubuntu 10.04, svn 1.6.6, bash shell, when issued from the command line: svn ci -m $'Added new File: newFile.txt\nOrig loc: /etc/networking/newFile.txt' /home/user/svnDir/newFile.txt I would like to run that command in a bash script, assuming that the original full path to the file is contained in the variable $oFileFull, and the filename is in $oFileName. The script is executed from the svn directory. I need to allow for the possibility that the file name and or path contain spaces. so the line inside my shel script might look like: svn ci -m$'Added new file: ${oFileName}\nOrig loc: ${oFileFull}' ${oFileName} But I want the variables (which may contain spaces) expanded before the command is executed, and I cannot figure out how to do this while enclosing the svn comment in single quotes which is necessary in order to get the new line in the subversion comment log. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to properly quote and assemble this command. Any help appreciated.

• Should I uniform different API calls to a single format before caching?

  The problem is that I am recreating the social media widget/icons on http://about.me/bluedaniel (thats me). Anyhow there can be up to 6 or 7 different API calls on the page and obviously I am caching them, at the moment with Memcached. The question is, as they arrive in various formats and sizes (fb-json, linkedin-xml, wordpress-rss etc), should I universally format/convert them before storing it in the cache. At present I have recreated the html widget and then stored that, but I worry about saving huge blocks of html in the cache as it doesn't seem that smart.

• Android Source code download error

  Hi all I have followed the instructions on the Android website on how to download the latest android source code files but it gives errors when i run this command: repo init -u git://android2.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git It gives the following error: Getting repo ... from git://android.git.kernel.org/tools/repo.git android.git.kernel.org[0: 199.6.1.176]: errno=Connection refused android.git.kernel.org[0: 130.239.17.12]: errno=Connection refused fatal: unable to connect a socket (Connection refused) On checking forums for its resolution, i was told that port 9418 was being blocked. I use Ubuntu 10.04 and ensured that the firewall wasnt blocking the port and also enabled the port and the above IP addresses. I also spoke to the networking peeps who ensured that no traffic from the internet is being blocked. I would be glad if i could get directions on how to proceed next. Many thanks as you respond. • Is Amazon SQS the right choice here? Rails performance issue.

  I'm close to releasing a rails app with the common networking features (messaging, wall, etc.). I want to use some kind of background processing (most likely Bj) for off-loading tasks from the request/response cycle. This would happen when users invite friends via email to join and for email notifications. I'm not sure if I should just drop these invites and notifications in my Database, using a model and then just process it with a worker process every x minutes or if I should go for Amazon SQS, storing the messages and invites there and let my worker retrieve it from Amazon SQS for processing (sending the invites / notifications). The Amazon approach would get load off my Database but I guess it is slower to retrieve messages from there. What do you think?

  I want to make a small utility to programmatically deactivate the AirPort of my mac. I have networking problems which couldnt be resolved by expensive experts. I need to deactivate and reactivate the mac AirPort once every half hour. So a little utility which does that automatically would be great. I think I wouldn't need an UI for this either. Just the most simple possible kind of application to automatically stop and start the AirPort. Maybe even apple automator code?

The problem I'm having is when and how to apply this. There are three potitional spots in my opinion. When the serial port object is define: private SerialPort comport = new SerialPort(); The Event handler: comport.DataReceived += new SerialDataReceivedEventHandler(port_DataReceived); Or when reading the data: string data = comport.ReadExisting(); No matter where I add it. I seem to get errors. How would one use Encoding?

  I have a data view webpart of some other list on my Dispform.aspx page. I have added edit and create new links in it. Create new item link is workin fine but when I m clicking on edit, its showing me error: No item exist at http:....listname/Dispform.aspx?ID=1&Source=http://...listname/Allitems.aspx. It may have been deleted or renamed by other user. I found this post related to it. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/e368d7c7-8878-4f74-a62b-9ebad50c6b9a But now in my case the problem is I don't wanna customize Allitems.aspx, and what I have understood in the above post guys have suggested that to change the query string.I can only customize DispForm.aspx. Now the query string which is passing by default is ID=@ID from Allitems.aspx to DispForm.aspx...and I have to use this ID query string variable in my parameter if I m passing it on to the next page. • Setting up separate ctags db's for C/C++ standard libs, boost, and third party libs

  I want to set up separate ctags databases for various libraries in /usr/include/ for use with OmniCppComplete. The idea is to be able to pull in only the libraries needed for a particular project in the target language - C or C++. For example, I'd like to have one database for the standard C libraries, one for system libraries that might be used by either C or C++ programs ( sockets / networking comes to mind ) one for the standard C++ libs / STL / Boost, and then other databases for various third party libraries such as QT or glib. Then I could pull something in simply by typing set tags+= ~/.vim/somelib.tags in vim. I assume that everything related to the C++ stdlib and STL are in the /usr/include/c++ and that Boost is all in /usr/include/boost. Unfortunately it seems that the standard C libs and system libs are just kind of dumped directly into /usr/include/ with a variety of other stuff. How can I get a list of which files and directories belong to which libs? I'm on Ubuntu 8.04.

  Hi, A lot of interesting code/projects are implementations of protocols, eg SNMP. How are projects like these, which depend on implementing a certain format, developed? Is the process something like get the guidelines of the protocol and then implement code which follows it. For example, XML-RPC is about transmitting XML docs between client/server, so the documentation on this protocol must outline the structure of the XML documents and then the way the transportation between client and server works, so the coder will implement this sort of functionality (xml doc construction, networking between the client and server). Projects I am thinking of (not to develop) are C# libraries which can interpret .PSDs, make VHDs, etc. So if I was to develop a C# app to implement .AI files (Illustrator files), what would be the steps I would look at (such as contacting Adobe, etc)? Is this the way such projects are developed?

  Just came across FlockDB graph database. Details at github /flockDB. Twitter claims it uses FlockDB for the following: Twitter runs FlockDB on a large cluster of machines. we use it to store social graphs (who follows whom, who blocks whom) and secondary indices at twitter. At first glance, setup and trying it doesn't look straight forward. Have anyone already used it / setup this? If so, please answer the following general queries. What kind of applications is it better suited for? (Twitter claims it is simple and very rough, it remains to see what it meant though) How is FlockDB better than other graph db / noSQL db. Have you setup FlockDB, used it for a application? Early advices any? Note: I am evaluating the FlockDB and other graph databases mainly for learning them. Perhaps, I will build an application for that.

So I decided to use Spring Security OAuth plugin. I have configured the plugin. Now I want user can access both via normal local account and also the OAuth authentication. • Any reason why I shouldn't use couchdb for message passing or realtime activity streams?

  While using ampq or xmpp (rabbitmq or ejabbered that could have couchdb as backends) seems like a good fit to deliver real time updates about friend state in a social gaming platform where updates are small but frequent, I can't help but think why wouldn't couchdb be a good platform to deliver such updates? The main advantage I could think of is its ability to filter updates based on friends and availability of changes api, which makes developing such an application and managing it (including replication) quite easy compared to ampq or xmpp where you have to think about how to manage the pubsub nodes and who is subscribed to them at any point in time. However, I can't help but think this is too good to be true, I can't find information on what couchdb's shortcomings are. Somehow, it feels like using MySQL for message passing which is why I am hesitant to using it. Anyone have any experience in using couchdb for such applications? would you recommend another platform to use?

  Hi, I'm currently trying to develop a message-oriented networking framework and I'm a bit stuck on the internal mechanism. Here are the problematic interfaces : public interface IMessage { } public class Connection { public void Subscribe<TMessage>(Action<TMessage> messageCallback); public void Send<TMessage>(TMessage message); } The Send method does not seem complicated, though the mechanism behind Subscribe seems a bit more painful. Obviously when receiving a message on one end of the connection, I'll have to invoke the appropriate delegate. Do you have any advice on how to read messages and easily detect their types ? By the way, I'd like to avoid to use MSMQ.
