• Why did numbered list stop working after I hit Enter?

  I have a numbered list like: 1.0 Excel 2010 1.1 Introduction to Excel 2010 1.1.A. A general overview of Excel 2010, geared towards beginners 1.1.B. There are 3 videos in this series I put the cursor at the end of the last line on 1.1.B and hit Enter. The next line should begin with 1.1.C but nothing appears when the cursor returns to the next line. Another example, if I put the cursor at the end of 1.1.A and hit enter, I should get a new 1.1.B and the original 1.1.B should be renamed to 1.1.C. After hitting enter, a new 1.1.B doesn't appear and the previous 1.1.B drops all the way to the next page. So the next bullet number that should come up doesn't come up. I tried Microsoft Fix It to reset the Registry and that didn't work either. This is very frustrating. Does anybody know how to fix this?

  Hi Blog Readers,Every now and then I seem to have one of those low life Viagra sellers using my domain for spam emailing people.I have done everything I can think of to try and prevent then from doing this, but they seem to keep doing it. • Tomcat can't talk to MySql after outage

  I missed a payment for my server and hey suspended my account for a day or so. When they brought the server back up all my data was in tact but for some reason Tomcat can't make a JDBC connection to my MySql server. They both run on the same machine and hence I have a bind address of 127.0.0.1. It's strange because I have reset the machine of my own accord before without issue but clearly something has been reset in the downtime. I followed this guide (Just the bits which don't concern S3, I am not on Amazon infrastructure) originally and everything worked as expected. I'm very new to being a SysAdmin and I'm not sure what to try, how would you go about diagnosing this issue? • Permission based Authorization vs. Role based Authorization - Best Practices - 11g

  In previous blog posts here and here I have alluded to the support in OWSM for Permission based authorization and Role based authorization support. Recently I was having a conversation with an internal team in Oracle looking to use OWSM for their Web Services security needs and one of the topics was around - When to use permission based authorization vs. role based authorization? As in most scenarios the answer is it depends! There are trade-offs involved in using the two approaches and you need to understand the trade-offs and you need to understand which trade-offs are better for your scenario. Role based Authorization: Simple to use. Just create a new custom OWSM policy and specify the role in the policy (using EM Fusion Middleware Control). Inconsistent if you have multiple type of resources in an application (ex: EJBs, Web Apps, Web Services) - ex: the model for securing EJBs with roles or the model for securing Web App roles - is inconsistent. Since the model is inconsistent, tooling is also fairly inconsistent. Achieving this use-case using JDeveloper is slightly complex - since JDeveloper does not directly support creating OWSM custom policies. Permission based Authorization: More complex. You need to attach both an OWSM policy and create OPSS Permission authorization policies. (Note: OWSM leverages OPSS Permission based Authorization support). More appropriate if you have multiple type of resources in an application (ex: EJBs, Web Apps, Web Services) and want a consistent authorization model. Consistent Tooling for managing authorization across different resources (ex: EM Fusion Middleware Control). Better Lifecycle support in terms of T2P, etc. Achieving this use-case using JDeveloper is slightly complex - since JDeveloper does not directly support creating/editing OPSS Permission based authorization policies.

  Hi guys, just a quick question, I'm kind of confused. I've had set-up my own certification authority and I can create requests and signed them. But, I'm not sure, what I need to give to Apache, currently I've got: CA Private key CA Certificate Website Private key Website Certificate Website Certificate Request (I think I do not need it, but just to be clear) Until today I was using snakeoil certificate, but I've decided to have more SSL services, than CA looks as good solution, so my Apache was configured well, but now I am not sure what I shall provide to apache in following rules: SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/Website Private Key SSLCertificateFile /path/to/CA Certificate But than I got [Mon Dec 27 12:09:33 2010] [warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `EServer' does NOT match server name!?   So recently I have had to make the transition from the SharePoint 2007 codebase to SharePoint 2010 codebase. Needless to say there hasn't been much difficulty in the changeover. However in a set of code that I was playing around with and transitioning I did find one change that might cause some pain to others out there that have been programming against the PublishingWeb object in the Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing namespace. The 2007 snippet of code that work just fine in 2007 looks like: using (SPSite site = new SPSite(url)) using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb()) {      PublishingWeb publishingWeb = PublishingWeb.GetPublishingWeb(web);     publishingWeb.ExcludeFromNavigation(true, itemID);     publishingWeb.Update(); } The 2010 update to the code looks like: using (SPSite site = new SPSite(url)) using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb()) {     PublishingWeb publishingWeb = PublishingWeb.GetPublishingWeb(web);     publishingWeb.Navigation.ExcludeFromNavigation(true, itemID); //--Had to reference the Navigation object.     publishingWeb.Update(); } The purpose of the code is to keep a page from showing up on the global or current navigation when it is added to the pages library. However you see that the update to the 2010 codebase actually makes more "object" sense. It specifies that you are technically affecting the Navigation of the Publishing Web, instead of the Publishing Web itself. • Windows server 2008 r2 console stuck at "waiting for user profile service"

  Hi, I have a windows 2008 R2 server, running on dell poweredge t300. Using hyper-v to run a windows 2008 R2 server also. Suddenly, today, my virtual console (on the virtual copy of windows 2008 server r2) will not let me login as administrator. It starts to login but then sticks at the message: Please wait for the User profile Service and is unresponsive to keypresses (incl ctrl-alt-del). The only way out is a crash. It starts up in safe mode without networking ok but not in safe mode with networking. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated Thanks

• Small change in MVVM Light Toolkit templates for Blend 4 RC

  Ah, the joy of new releases… You will find that the MVVM Light Toolkit works fine with Visual Studio 2010 RTM and Blend 4 RC except for a few adjustments: Blend templates The path to the Expression Blend 4 project templates changed. If you start Expression Blend 4 RC now, you will likely not see the MVVM Light templates in the New Project dialog.   New Project dialog with MVVM Light To restore the templates, follow the steps: Open Windows Explorer Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Expression (or simply type My Documents in Windows Explorer and then open the Expression folder). Change the name of the “Blend 4 beta” folder into “Blend 4”. That’s it, you should now see the templates in the New Project dialog in Blend 4. Note that since the new name is “Blend 4”, I hope that I won’t need to do the same exercise when Blend 4 RTM is released! Windows Phone 7 templates Since the Windows Phone 7 tools are not ready yet for Visual Studio 2010 RTM and Blend 4 RC, the templates in the Silverlight for Windows Phone folders will not work. You will get an error if you try to create a new such project in the newly released environment. I hesitated to remove these templates from the current packages, but honestly that is a lot of trouble for a very short time before the tools for Windows Phone 7 are released (note: I don’t have any information as to when these tools will be released). In the mean time, just don’t create a WinPhone7 application. Reminder: If you want to write code for Windows Phone 7, you need to keep the Visual Studio 2010 RC as well as Expression Blend 4 beta.
