  • How can I use offline access with the Facebook javascript SDK?

    - by Tony
In the Facebook javascript api there is a login function in which you specify extended permissions: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/FB.login One of these permissions is offline access. So I can save the facebook user's session key and assume it will not expire for a long time. The question I have is simple - how do I use the session key? I understand that the session key will last longer, but I don't understand how to use it in the Facebook API. For one of my products, a user must restart his/her browser and I would like to recognize them when they restart. The problem is that they are logged out of facebook, so they must login on my site again where I would rather just use offline access. Sample code would be great! Thanks

  • How to build an easy Rails authentication with OpenID and OAuth1.0a-2.0?

    - by Andrei
Hi, I'am looking for an easy authentication for my users mostly via facebook, but keeping OpenID and other OAuth alternatives as well. For the case if something will go very bad, I will ask my users to optionally provide their email address, which should be obtained via OpenID or OAuth if possible. The same thing is about their name. I am a newbie in Rails, so I started with Railscasts.com #160 (authlogic) and #170 (authlogic and OpenID), however, I had some problems trying to sign in with my Google Account. As I understand, it will take some effort to adjust #170 for my objectives. On the other hand, there is gem authlogic_rpx which will possibly provide me the needed functionality (see http://rails-authlogic-rpx-sample.heroku.com/signin). What would you do? Is it reasonable to put one more step (RPX) in the authentication logic?

  • Using Qt's XML library for simple operation

    - by David Powers
I basically want to use the XML parser from Qt in my existing project. I have only used Qt once before, and that was with Qt Designer, and I am not having much luck finding anything on Google about how to just use the XML library. I have downloaded a web page that has one large list, and I want to parse it and add each list item to a c++ list. I found this sample code on Ubuntu forums... http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9112973&postcount=6 I want to use that except I need to know what exactly I need to add to the project to get access to it. One other small question is QDomDocument seems to be for files (makes sense) but I have the XML in a string. What part of the XML library works for contents of a string?

  • What's a good way to create an Event Calendar

    - by iFloh
Hi, I want to create an Event Calendar for my iPhone App. In a first instance the Event Calendar is supposed to list the Events and have a Details View with additional info. It is also supposed to contain an action to trasfer a specific event to the iPhone Calendar. First thoughts go towards using a UITableView where I make the event dates as sections. Since the Calendar is supposed to span many month I am unsure whether this really is the best way to go about it. Any suggestions? Do you probably know some sample code that I might use ? thanks in advance

  • Home Pages in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Maxim Z.
I'm trying out ASP.NET MVC, but, after reading a huge tutorial, I'm slightly confused. I understand how Controllers have Actions that URLs are routed to, but how do home pages work? Is the home page its own controller (e.g. "Home") that has no actions? This sounds correct, but how is it functionality implemented without Actions (no Actions means no methods that call the View Engine)? In other words, my question is this: how are home pages implemented (in terms of Controllers and Views)? Could you please provide sample code?

  • Getting Raw XML From SOAPMessage in Java

    - by Daniel Lew
I've set up a SOAP WebServiceProvider in JAX-WS, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the raw XML from a SOAPMessage (or any Node) object. Here's a sample of the code I've got right now, and where I'm trying to grab the XML: @WebServiceProvider(wsdlLocation="SoapService.wsdl") @ServiceMode(value=Service.Mode.MESSAGE) public class SoapProvider implements Provider<SOAPMessage> { public SOAPMessage invoke(SOAPMessage msg) { // How do I get the raw XML here? } } Is there a simple way to get the XML of the original request? If there's a way to get the raw XML by setting up a different type of Provider (such as Source), I'd be willing to do that, too.

  • Urban Airship - not receivng push notifications on device?

    - by Silent
I just installed everything to my app and tried to push, but no messages appear. The token for my device is saved so that's working. When I push, the website says it sent, but no message are received on the device. Right now I'm using a production certificate for push notifications, with a developer provision and not the distribution certificate. I tried cleaning the build and reinstalling but no luck since an extra app was installed from the same one. I used the code that is on the sample file tutorial, I think that's all the details. Don't know what to do next.

  • Concurency issues with scheduling app

    - by Sazug
Our application needs a simple scheduling mechanism - we can schedule only one visit per room for the same time interval (but one visit can be using one or more rooms). Using SQL Server 2005, sample procedure could look like this: CREATE PROCEDURE CreateVisit @start datetime, @end datetime, @roomID int AS BEGIN DECLARE @isFreeRoom INT BEGIN TRANSACTION SELECT @isFreeRoom = COUNT(*) FROM visits V INNER JOIN visits_rooms VR on VR.VisitID = V.ID WHERE @start = start AND @end = [end] AND VR.RoomID = @roomID IF (@isFreeRoom = 0) BEGIN INSERT INTO visits (start, [end]) VALUES (@start, @end) INSERT INTO visits_rooms (visitID, roomID) VALUES (SCOPE_IDENTITY(), @roomID) END COMMIT TRANSACTION END In order to not have the same room scheduled for two visits at the same time, how should we handle this problem in procedure? Should we use SERIALIZABLE transaction isolation level or maybe use table hints (locks)? Which one is better?

  • SOLR date faceting and BC / BCE dates / negative date ranges

    - by Nigel_V_Thomas
    Date ranges including BC dates is this possible? I would like to return facets for all years between 11000 BCE (BC) and 9000 BCE (BC) using SOLR. A sample query might be with date ranges converted to ISO 8601: q=*:*&facet.date=myfield_earliestDate&facet.date.end=-92009-01-01T00:00:00&facet.date.gap=%2B1000YEAR&facet.date.other=all&facet=on&f.myfield_earliestDate.facet.date.start=-112009-01-01T00:00:00 However the returned results seem to be suggest that dates are in positive range, ie CE, not BCE... see sample returned results <response> <lst name="responseHeader"> <int name="status">0</int> <int name="QTime">6</int> <lst name="params"> <str name="f.vra.work.creation.earliestDate.facet.date.start">-112009-01-01T00:00:00Z</str> <str name="facet">on</str> <str name="q">*:*</str> <str name="facet.date">vra.work.creation.earliestDate</str> <str name="facet.date.gap">+1000YEAR</str> <str name="facet.date.other">all</str> <str name="facet.date.end">-92009-01-01T00:00:00Z</str> </lst> </lst> <result name="response" numFound="9556" start="0">ommitted</result> <lst name="facet_counts"> <lst name="facet_queries"/> <lst name="facet_fields"/> <lst name="facet_dates"> <lst name="vra.work.creation.earliestDate"> <int name="112010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="111010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="110010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="109010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="108010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="107010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="106010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="105010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="104010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="103010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="102010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="101010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="100010-01-01T00:00:00Z">5781</int> <int name="99010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="98010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="97010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="96010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="95010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="94010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <int name="93010-01-01T00:00:00Z">0</int> <str name="gap">+1000YEAR</str> <date name="end">92010-01-01T00:00:00Z</date> <int name="before">224</int> <int name="after">0</int> <int name="between">5690</int> </lst> </lst> </lst> </response> Any ideas why this is the case, can solr handle negative dates such as -112009-01-01T00:00:00Z?

The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. • How can I know the IP address of a remote host by using UDP broadcast message?

    - by khera-satinder
Hi All, I am developing an embedded system and very new to this TCP\IP. My problem is that once I installed my board in a local network and this board will acquire its IP address dynamically, it has to communicate with a client application running on one of the PC(other than DHCP server) in the network. To communicate with this new board the client application is required to know the IP address of the board. What is the way to know the IP address of the board? Will UDP broadcast work for this purpose? If yes please, explain in detail as I am unable to understand it. Please provide me some sample code in C if possible. Regards, Satinder

  • Trying to get Package Version Information to display in an "About" message.

    - by user313135
Hello, I have been struggling with getting the versionName for a running application from the PackageInfo Object type. I have constructed a Parcelable Interface with all of the fields associated with the PackageInfo Object type. The primary input for that interface method is a Parcel object. I cannot seem to figure out how to correctly associate these Parcelable, Parcel, and PackageInfo objects. Is there any sample code out there that I can look at? Doesn't seem like it should be that difficult but it seems to be stumping me. Thanks Jazz

  • How do I keep a scanner from throwing exceptions when the wrong type is entered? (java)

Here's some sample code: import java.util.Scanner; class In { public static void main (String[]arg) { Scanner in = new Scanner (System.in) ; System.out.println ("how many are invading?") ; int a = in.nextInt() ; System.out.println (a) ; } } if i run the program and give it an int like 4then everything goes fine. if, on the other hand, i answer too many it doesn't laugh at my funny joke. instead i get this: (as expected) Exception in thread "main" java.util.InputMismatchException at java.util.Scanner.throwFor(Scanner.java:819) at java.util.Scanner.next(Scanner.java:1431) at java.util.Scanner.nextInt(Scanner.java:2040) at java.util.Scanner.nextInt(Scanner.java:2000) at In.main(In.java:9) is there a way so that i can make it so that it either ignores entries that aren't ints or re prompts with "how many are invading?"? i'd like to know how to do both of these.

  • Backbone.js Adding Model to Collection Issue

    - by jtmgdevelopment
I am building a test application in Backbone.js (my first app using Backbone). The app goes like this: Load Data from server "Plans" Build list of plans and show to screen There is a button to add a new plan Once new plan is added, add to collection ( do not save to server as of now ) redirect to index page and show the new collection ( includes the plan you just added) My issue is with item 5. When I save a plan, I add the model to the collection then redirect to the initial view. At this point, I fetch data from the server. When I fetch data from the server, this overwrites my collection and my added model is gone. How can I prevent this from happening? I have found a way to do this but it is definitely not the correct way at all. Below you will find my code examples for this. Thanks for the help. • How can I shift html-text in the JButton to the left?

    - by Roman
    I use HTML to put text into a JButton. In this way I can play with colors and text size. What I do not like is the distance from the left border of the button and the text (this separation is too large). Is there a way to decrease this distance? I think it should be some parameter in the style of the HTML code. Sample of the code: JButton btn = new JButton("<html><span style='color:#000000; font-size: 11pt;'>" + label + "</span></html>");

  • UITableView setting standalone delegate object?

    - by fuzzygoat
Hi have setup a sample application using a UITableView. Initially I did this by conforming my controller to and , added a tableView in IB and connected "datasource" & "delegate" to Files Owner. It all works so thats good. What I have been trying out is creating my own class for the delegate. I created a new class and added and , but quickly found I could not connect the tableViewdataSource / delegate. To solve this I added an "Object" (NSObject) in IB and set it to my new class. I then connected the dataSource and delegate outlets to this object. It sort of works, the app runs and displays the tableView, but when I try and scroll the table the app crashes. Can I ask if I am going about this the right way? gary
