• Loading dictionary for input method suggestion list

  Hi, For various reasons, i'm trying to write my own input keyboard. So far all is going well except that of creating the suggestions. I've found the latinIME algorithm, which is all good. However i'm having major difficulty working out how to load the dictionary in the first place. I've had a good look round the net, and found various suggestions, but no definitive answers, and i cant seem to get any of them to work. If anyone has any suggestions on how best to do it, or even better some sample code, that would be brilliant. Many Thanks James

• Performance of DirectX and Recent Windows Mobile Version

  I'm seeing very poor performance while using the managed DirectDraw wrappers for WindowsMobile. Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DirectX.Direct3D I would appear the biggest bottle neck is calling Device.Present() after building up the scene. When using the System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch and running this very trivial exmaple Using Sprites on MSDN I'm seeing it's taking approximately 150ms to call the Device.Present() method. I'm seeing this on my AT&T Tilt and on the emulator. In larger applications such as the UltimateGMan sample it's taking over a second to call this method. Does anyone have any experience with using DirectX on mobile devices? What am I missing? I would prefer to stay in the managed world but if I drop back into C++ would I see better performance?

  I need to copy the item that user just added (for example. myresume.doc or financial.xls) with the metadata (doc lib obtains the columns from content type, ct obtains the columns from site colum) and copy the item with metadata in a folder called "NativeFile". Every doc library has this folder. I know itemadded can be used but then I heard itemadded fires before user have a chance to complete the metadata for the item they just added. What are my options? • Relvance of 'public' contructor in abstract class.

  Is there any relevance of a 'public' constructor in an abstract class? I can not think of any possible way to use it, in that case shouldn't it be treated as error by compiler (C#, not sure if other languages allow that). Sample Code: internal abstract class Vehicle { public Vehicle() { } } The C# compiler allows this code to compile, while there is no way i can call this contructor from the outside world. It can be called from derived classes only. So shouldn't it allow 'protected' and 'private' modifiers only. Please comment.

• Weird compatibility problem with .Net 3.5 and 4.0 assemblies (NATUPnPLib)

  I'm having trouble getting NATUPnP 1.0 Type Library to work with Framework 3.5 in Visual Studio 2010. If I use .Net 4.0, it works just fine, but with .Net 3.5, NATUPNPLib's namespace looks excactly like NETCONLib's. For example this Port Forwarding Management Application sample from this site: http://pietschsoft.com/post/2009/02/05/NET-Framework-Communicate-through-NAT-Router-via-UPnP.aspx ..is using .Net 3.5, but I can't get it to compile in Visual Studio 2010 unless I change it to .Net 4.0. I haven't tried, but I bet in Visual Studio 2008 there would be no problems.

  Greetings all, I need help combining some htaccess rewrites, these crazy regular expressions screw with my head. So I have a folder structure something like this: /www/mysite.com/page/member/friends.php /www/mysite.com/page/video/videos.php /www/mysite.com/page/messages/inbox.php The URLs get rewritten to this: mysite.com/member/friends.php mysite.com/video/videos.php mysite.com/messages/inbox.php (Notice the /page/ folder is hidden in the url, but I keep it on the server for better file organization) The rewrite rules look something like this: (I'm new so correct me if they are flawed) RewriteRule ^video/(.*)$ /page/video/$1 [NC] RewriteRule ^member/(.*)$ /page/member/$1 [NC] RewriteRule ^messages/(.*)$ /page/messages/$1 [NC] Now, I also need to do a completely different rewrite to a file called lobby.php inside of the member folder: After the original rewrites, a sample url looks like: mysite.com/member/lobby.php?member=pws5068 I need a new rewrite to make it look like this: mysite.com/pws5068 Thank you for bearing with my super-long question here. How can I make this happen?

  I am getting the error message “The remote server returned an error: (501) Not Implemented.” when I try to use the HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() using the GET Method to get an email attachment from exchange. I have tried to change the HttpVersion and don’t think it is a permissions issue since I can search the inbox.   I need to read data in from a wav file in 24 bit pcm format, and convert to float. I'm using Python 2.7.2. The wave package reads the data in as a string, so what I've tried is: # read in entire wav file wdata = f.readframes(nFrames) # unpack into signed integers and convert to float data = array.array('f') for i in range(0,nFrames*3,3): data.append(float(struct.unpack('<i', '\x00'+ wdata[i:i+3])[0])) # normalize sample values data = data / 0x800000 This is quite a bit faster than my earlier approaches, but still quite slow. Can anyone suggest a more efficient method?

  I have the following function: f(n) = f(n - 1) + (n - 1) f(0) = 0 n >= 0 I have n declared on column A, and need the result of f(n) on column B. I'm trying to find the Excel formula equivalent for this function. Sample Result: A | B --+-- 0 | 0 or: A | B --+-- 1 | 0 or: A | B --+-- 4 | 6 but never: A | B --+-- 0 | 0 1 | 0 2 | 1 ... The biggest problem is, I can't simulate the value of f(n - 1). So referencing the previous row like the above example is invalid. I'm almost sure the answer is trivial, I just can't find it.

  Hello, I am using a code sample to connect to a webcam, and don't really understand the meaning of the variables passed to the SendMessage method. SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_SET_SCALE, -1, 0) SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_SET_PREVIEW, -1, 0) What does the -1 mean? To scale/preview or not to scale/preview? I'd prefer that zero/one would be used, zero meaning false, and have no idea what the -1 means. SendMessage(DeviceHandle, WM_CAP_EDIT_COPY, 0, 0); What does the zero mean in this case? Or does this message is simply void and the zero has no meaning, similar to the last zero argument? Btw, what DOES the last zero argument mean? Thank you very much in advance :)

  I'm looking for an algorithm that will help calculate a workday working time length. It would have an input date range and then allow subtracting partially or completely intersecting time range slices from that date range and the result would be the number of minutes (or the fraction/multiple of a day) left in the original date range, after subtracting out the various non-working time slices. For Example: Input date range: 1/4/2010 11:21 am - 1/5/2010 3:00 pm Subtract out any partially or completely intersecting slices like this: Remove all day Sunday Non-Sundays remove 11:00 - 12:00 Non-Sundays remove time after 5:00 pm Non-Sundays remove time before 8:00 am Non-Sundays remove time 9:15 - 9:30 am Output: # of minutes left in the input date range I don't need anything overly-general. I could hardcode the rules to simplify the code. If anyone knows of sample code or a library/function somewhere, or has some pseudo-code ideas, I'd love something to start with. I didn't see anything in DateUtils, for example. Even a basic function that calculates the number of minutes of overlap in two date ranges to subtract out would be a good start.

• Losing DateTimeOffset precision when using C#

  I have a SQL Server table with a CreatedDate field of type DateTimeOffset(2). A sample value which is in the table is 2010-03-01 15:18:58.57 -05:00 As an example, from within C# I retrieve this value like so: var cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT CreatedDate FROM Entities WHERE EntityID = 2", cn); var da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); DataTable dt =new DataTable(); da.Fill(dt); And I look at the value: MessageBox.Show(dt.Rows[0][0].ToString()); The result is 2010-03-01 15:18:58 -05:00, which is missing the .57 that is stored in the database. If I look at dt.Rows[0][0] in the Watch window, I also do not see the .57, so it appears it has been truncated. Can someone shed some light on this? I need to use the date to match up with other records in the database and the .57 is needed. Thanks! Darvis

  I was looking at some same code (a sample MS Visual Studio C++ project) recently with multiple build configurations (Release/Debug, Win32/x64). My question: What is the difference? I guess I understand Release/Debug (Release = finalized version of project, Debug = version used to run in debugger), but what things need to be considered when building different versions for Win32/x64 platforms? Is there any coding differences, or does this just affect how that same code is ultimately built into machine code? I know there are different library files depending on whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit system as well... Are all of these differences again just machine code? Would a 32-bit library file and its corresponding 64-bit library file be two files with exactly the same functions build from the same source code originally, and only differing in their machine code implementation? • IE6 extra padding on bottom

  I have a div tag styled through CSS. I set the padding to 10px (padding:10px), it works just as I wanted in Firefox and IE7, but in IE6 it adds additional padding at the bottom (about 2-3px I think). Anyone has idea about what's happening here? [update] I just noticed this, the div tag I'm talking about has a background-image. When I removed the background-image, the extra padding on the bottom disappears. Any ideas? • How to parse a Zend URL for parameters?

  I am trying to extract the GET parameters from a ZF REST URL. It's not the current request and I don't want to call the URL or execute the route, I just need the parameters. I'm looking for a utility function like parse_url(), but for the Zend REST format. Is there one, or do I have to reinvent the wheel? I've tried a few things like creating a new Zend_Controller_Request_Http but the parameters aren't being populated. It is a valid HTTP URL. Edit: Upon request, a sample Zend URL: http://localhost/index/index/param1/foo/param2/bar So I am just trying to get param1 and param2 out of this URL.

I have a following scenario in my MSSql 2005 database. zipcodes table has following fields and value (just a sample): zipcode latitude longitude ------- -------- --------- 65201 123.456 456.789 65203 126.546 444.444 and "place" table has following fields and value : id name zip latitude longitude -- ---- --- -------- --------- 1 abc 65201 NULL NULL 2 def 65202 NULL NULL 3 ghi 65203 NULL NULL 4 jkl 65204 NULL NULL Now, my requirement is like I want to compare my zip codes of "place" table and update the available latitude and longitude fields from "zipcode" table. And there are some of the zipcodes which has no entry in "zipcode" table, so that should remain null. And the major issue is like I have more then 50,00,000 records in my db. So, query should support this feature. I have tried some of the solutions but unfortunately not getting proper output. Any help would be appreciated...

• Hudson jobs won't call javac?

  Hi, I have just set up Hudson on my server. For some reason, my build will not call javac to compile my builds...? I have set the path to the JDK in the Manage Hudson area, and it seems to recognise it (doesn't give me a warning). Is there something else I'm supposed to do?
