• ftp connection problem, vsftp server, active mode

  I have a server that runs vsftpd to handle ftp connections. One of my users have a notebook with Total Commander and WinSCP installed. Both ftp clients fail right after the connection is established to the server and it tries to download the directory listing with the following error message: Timeout detected. Could not retrieve directory listing PORT command successful. Consider using PASV. Error listing directory '/'. The weird thing is: the notebook works perfectly ok with other ftp servers. My ftp server also works well with other clients. In fact, this user also has a pc running on the same LAN as the notebook and the pc works well with the ftp server. We use PORT ftp connection mode. Passive mode works well but is not an option at this point. I would post more technical details but I don't even know what this problem is related to. Anyway, below is the server side tcpdump for the failed connection attempt. There's no further communication between the client and the server after the last line of log. • Terrible sound listening to Radio 1 on iPlayer specifically

  Just recently while listening to radio 1 online, the sound quality has become horrible, sounds all crackly and underwater. I've tried reinstalling Flash, and radios 2/3/4 sound fine.   I'm trying to measure would it be better to have prefork or worker mpm apache module for the server I'm working on, which is Amazon X-Large 15 GB memory 8 EC2 Compute Units (4 virtual cores with 2 EC2 Compute Units each) and that will run a Magento website with about 50 active users at once. Site serves a lot of images and about 45 requests per page. Images sometimes hang, so it seems worker would be a better option? Thanks

  I have migrated about 45 mailboxes at this point from our single instance of Exchange 2003 to a High Availability Exchange 2010 environment successfully. However one mailbox moved successfully and the user is able to send and receive e-mail internally and externally with no problems but they do not show up in the Global Address List. The OAB is owned by an Exchange 2010 mailbox server. What am I missing?

  I am using the lib ssh2 module with PHP and calling the function ssh2_fingerprint() to get the keys fingerprint. According to all resources on the internet, I can get the fingerprint of a public key by executing: ssh-keygen -lf id_rsa.pub Which outputs something like: 2048 d4:41:3b:45:00:49:4e:fc:2c:9d:3a:f7:e6:6e:bf:e7 id_rsa.pub (RSA) However, when I call ssh2_fingerprint($connection, SSH2_FINGERPRINT_HEX) in PHP with the same public key I get: dddddba52352e5ab95711c10fdd56f43 Shouldn't they match? What am I missing?

• Innotop and Monit to kill thread using too much resources

  Instead of restarting the whole MYSQL process, sometimes I just want to kill the offending thread instead of making everything go down. Usually the spike in CPU is when a bot is crawling the first pages of pagination of my site (over 70.000 paginated results, 45 items per page). Is there a way I could do this automatically using monit and innotop? I couldn't find relevant information on Google, that's why I'm asking here. If these two tools aren't par to the task, which ones should I use?

• Triple monitor setup in linux

  I'm hoping there are some xorg gurus out there. I'm trying to get a three monitor setup working in linux. I have 2 lcd monitors and a tv, all different resolutions. I'm using 2 video cards; a 9800 GTX and 7900Gt. I've seen a lot of different posts about people trying to make this work, and in every case, they either gave up, or Xinerama magically solved all their problems. Basically, my main problem is that I cannot get Xinerama to work. Every time I turn it on in the options, my machine gets stuck in a neverending boot cycle. If I disable Xinerama, I just have three Xorg screens, but I can't drag windows from one to the other. I can get the 2 lcds on Twinview, and the tv on a separate Xorg screen no problem. But I don't really like this solution. I'd rather have them all on separate screens and stitch them together with Xinerama. Has anyone done this? Here's my xorg.conf for reference. p.s. This took me all of 30 seconds to set up in Windows XP! p.s.s. I've seen somewhere that maybe randr can solve my problems? But I'm not quite sure how? • EC2 Instance of Wordpress not mapping URLs correctly

  I'm using an AWS EC2 micro instance to run a wordpress blog. I've successfully mapped a subdomain to the Elastic IP for the micro instance. After a few minor changes, the URL I mapped to the Elastic IP (blog.example.com) opens up the wordpress home page but whenever I click on any of the wordpress links the domain changes to the AWS public DNS for that instance (http://ec2-123-45-678-910.compute-1.amazonaws.com/wordpress/). How do I fix the URLs so that they all follow the subdomain I have setup?

• Galaxy Tab 3 producing continuous LightSensor error in LogCat

  I am using a Galaxy Tab 3 as a test device for writing an android app. As such I'm interested in the output of the LogCat which is being filled with these error level messages. The device itself appears to work correctly, apps which rely on the light sensor correctly respond to it and the number in the error itself goes down if the light sensor is obscured. If I wasn't using it to develop apps I wouldn't even be aware of the issue but I believe it is an issue with the device itself not my app: simply plugging the tab 3 into the computer and using Eclipse - ADT to look at the LogCat without any app running leads to these errors being shown. I know I could filter the LogCat to ignore these errors but inconvenience aside; they concern me. A sample of the log cat is below (it generates errors continuously). This is on verbose so it includes some debug level (D/) messages as well as the error level messages (E/). • Streaming from a second computer

  I play games on my laptop, and they run at about 30-45 fps, which is bearable for me. But when I try to stream, the frame rate drops to 20 or lower, which is unplayable for me. I have a second computer though (a Mac, the laptop is Win7), and I'm wondering if there is anyway to stream the game content (onto Twitch.tv) from my laptop using my Mac. • Outlook 2007 Does Not Accept Login Credentials, OWA Webmail Does. Troubleshooting Advice?

  I am trying to connect Outlook 2007 to Exchange (Hosted Exchange from Rackspace). Soon, I will need to roll this out for our entire office. With the Exchange account added to Outlook, Outlook starts up and asks for the user's username and password. Unfortunately, it doesn't like the password I use for it. I can confirm this username (email address) and password combo works by using Outlook WebMail, and another user (in another network/office) confirmed the Exchange account does work within his Outlook client. In my network/office, I can confirm that an Outlook 2007 client (under Windows 7) can connect to the Hosted Exchange server from Rackspace. However, I have not been able to get Outlook 2007 (under Windows XP SP3) to connect to the very same Exchange server Outlook 2007 (under Windows 7) can connect to. Outlook continuously prompts me for the username and password and does not accept the correct combination. Now, regarding the Outlook client that cannot connect/login to Exchange: The user has full admin rights on the workstation We do not run a domain controller/LDAP The firewall on the workstation has been disabled Real time file scanning in Microsoft Security Essentials has been disabled There are no virus scanning applications that would interface with Outlook or an email server. The Exchange account is setup to run on a newly created Outlook profile The network firewall does not log any blocked attempts A packet capture at the router reveals communication between the workstation and the Exchange server or proxy (though, this is SSL encrypted, so I don't know what the computers are saying) I have applied a fix (Added DWORD value of 0 for DefConnectOpts under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\RPC) that was recommended to make RPC function when the workstation does not have a default gateway set. Workstation is configured as DHCP. This fix did nothing, and it may be worth noting the RPC subkey was not present until I added it. RPC service is running on the workstation The program is not running under any compatibility mode. Side note: Outlook 2007 installs with compatibility mode for XP enabled by default in windows 7. Outlook 2007 will not even try to connect to exchange if this compatibility mode is checked. In windows xp, I tried checking compatibility mode for windows 2000, and was unable to connect to exchange as well. Here is the specific configuration I've used in a blank outlook profile: Microsoft Exchange Server: ##MASKED##-MBX-C18.mex07a.mlsrvr.com Username: (Full Email Address: [email protected]) Password: ##MASKED## Outlook Anywhere: Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP Exchange Proxy Settings: Proxy Server: mex07a.emailsrvr.com Check "Connect using SSL only" Under "Only connect to proxy servers...", enter: msstd:mex07a.emailsrvr.com Check "On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP" Check "On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP" Proxy authentication settings: Basic Authentication Notes: mex07a.mlsrvr.com and mex07a.emailsrvr.com may look incorrect at first glance, but this is not a typo - these instructions were handed down from rackspace and are confirmed to be working, just not on this workstation. I have tried to use the RpcPing utility but must have been using it wrong. I got as far as "Bad Interface Descriptor". It would seem to me getting Outlook and Exchange to work together would be a breeze, especially since everything is done over port 80 with web services. Unfortunately, the user is stuck with WebMail access only, because Outlook won't accept the Exchange credentials. Do you have any ideas of other things I could try to debug this issue further? • WPF Some styles not applied on DataTemplate controls

  Hi, I am trying to learn something about WPF and I am quite amazed by its flexibility. However, I have hit a problem with Styles and DataTemplates, which is little bit confusing. I have defined below test page to play around a bit with styles etc and found that the Styles defined in <Page.Resources> for Border and TextBlock are not applied in the DataTemplate, but Style for ProgressBar defined in exactly the same way is applied. • Geting SelectList to MVC view using AJAX/jQuery

  Hi all. I have a C# MVC application which is populating a dropdown based on a date selected. Once the date is selected I am sending it to an action via AJAX/jQuery. The action gets a list of items to return for that date. Here is where my problem is. I have done it previously where I render a partial view from the action and pass it the SelectList as the model. However, I really just want to do it inline in the original view, so I'm hoping there is some way I can return the SelectList and from there do some magic Javascript/JQuery to put it into a dropdown. Has anybody ever done this before? If so, what do I on the client end after calling the load() to return the SelectList? I've done something like this previously, when I was just returning a string or other value to be rendered as straight text: $("#returnTripRow").load("/Trip.aspx/GetTripsForGivenDate?date=" + escape(selection)); But I'm not sure how to intercept the data and morph it into am Html.DropDown() call, or equivalent.
