• Editing source from a Visual Studio 9 solution in Visual Studio 2010

  I work in a large team, and not everybody has upgraded from VS 2008 to VS 2010, though I have. I have a maintenance bug in a VS 2008 project, and have been told that I cannot upgrade the project file. Is there a way for me to make the changes I need to make within VS10 without upgrading the project (including compiling, using the debugger, etc.), or do I need to re-install VS 2008?

• what does macosx-version-min imply?

  When I pass compiler flag "-mmacosx-version-min=10.5", what does it mean? I think it implies the result binary is x86, not ppc, but is it 32 bits or 64 bits? I'm compiling on snow leopard, so default output binary is 64 bits. I'm not passing -universal, it's not 32bit-64bit universal binary, I think.

  The following code works when running the NetBeans IDE. this.getFrame().setIconImage(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("PlagiaLyzerIcon.png")); However, once it was built into Jar file, the icon was gone. Anyone has idea what's the problem? I realized I've to put the icon image on the root directory, however, after compiling into JAR, the icon gone. Thanks for any help..

  I have the code: unsigned int length = strlen(somestring); I'm compiling with the warning level on 4, and it's telling me that "conversion from 'size_t' to 'unsigned int', possible loss of data" when a size_t is a typedef for an unsigned int. Why!?

  I manage project for JNI for both compilers: MSVC++ 8.0 and 9.0, my cpp file contains following implementation: extern "C" { JNIEXPORT jlong JNICALL Java_context_ServiceProviderContext_StartServiceProvider (JNIEnv * env, jclass, jstring jspath){ ..... } With help of depends.exe utility I can see that MSVC 8.0 successfully exports function as it is expected: Java_context_ServiceProviderContext_StartServiceProvider But compiling under MSVC 9.0 gets me crazy it exports like ignoring extern "C" at all. depends.exe shows me: _Java_context_ServiceProviderContext_StartServiceProvider@12 Does anybody know what exactly in 9.0 project that causes this behavior?

To be blunt the person needs to show the application on the simulator and is not capable of compiling the source code and I don't have the time to produce the instructions. What I want to do is provide them with the .app (or another) file and have them install it in the simulator just like they can do with any real iPhone Device. Does anyone know how I can do this?

  I am looking into the possibility/feasibility/resources for building a cross compiler which takes a procedural or Object Oriented language like C, or Java and compiling it into SQL. I understand that the advantage of SQL code is performing set operations which is fundamentally different from procedural languages which generally process 1 at a time. • Silverlight project fails to compile

  I have a Silverlight 3 project in VS2008. Today, for whatever reason, I get an error when compiling. Configuration system failed to initialize It reports the error on Line 1, Column 1 for every .xaml file in the project. I did a repair on VS2008, reinstalled all the Silverlight 3 bits (e.g. SDK, VS2008 tools and the Controls Toolkit), but the problem still persists. Am I missing something simple?

  I am using CCNET on a sample project with SVN as my source control. CCNET is configured to create a build on every check in. CCNET uses MSBuild to build the source code. I would like to use the latest revision number to generate AssemblyInfo.cs while compiling. How can I retrieve the latest revision from subversion and use the value in CCNET? When compiling the code with version "1.6.0_16" with the flag -Xlint I get the following warning: warning: [cast] redundant cast to javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement<java.lang.Boolean> [javac] this.r = ((JAXBElement<Boolean> ) value); What does the warning mean, should I be worried? As I have generated and not written the code, what can I do to get rid of this specific warning?
