  • Work firewall blocking Gmail IMAP port

    My work has a very over protective firewall. We use Google Apps for our email and so can access the web interface just fine. I use my laptop at work however (MacBook connected via WiFi through my AirPort Express), and prefer to use Sparrow to check my email. The problem is that our firewall blocks whatever port Gmail's IMAP server uses. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to work around this. I'm guessing I'll need to use an SSH tunnel or VPN, but I'm looking for specific instructions. I'd prefer to only route the IMAP stuff around the firewall as opposed to using a VPN full time. I have two computers at home (one PC, one Mac Mini) that are always on and could probably act as a server if needed.

  • php mail not arrives at gmail, not at local server

    The php mail function I am using does not work completely. It will sent mails to gmail easy enough. However, emails routed directly to my internally hosted exchange server are not getting through. The servers/domains are setup is as follows. URLs are registered with Network solutions (www.independentsservice.com & www.isco.net) NS directs all traffic to our ISP (Socket.net). Socket directs as follows: Mail to our local server FTP to our local server HTTP to our website hosted on Chihost.com Traffic to our local server goes through a Watchguard firewall which routes mail traffic to our locally hosted Exchange server. Is there some reason why exchange won't accept these emails? Thanks!

  • Postfix sends email to spam (gmail, hotmail)

    I recently installed a postfix + dovecot + dkim multi domain, multi user, multi alias mail server on my debian squeeze system. Everything works except for one big issue that basically makes the whole thing useless: Every single email sent by my server goes straight into spam. (gmail, hotmail) First thing i did is doing the well known allaboutspam test and all is checked (green) except for the BATV thing (yellow): Reverse dns: green HELO Greeting: green RBL: green BATV: yellow SPF: green DKIM: green URIBL: green SPAMAssassin: green Greylist: green I'm really confused and i can't see a way to solve this issue. Ask me any detail if you need.

  • Google and Gmail only work on one laptop and not the other two

    We have Comcast internet and everything was fine until recently. I am currently using my father-in-law's PC, and Gmail, Paypal, and Google all work fine. They don't work on my laptop or my husband's. We've reset the router/modem several times and nothing works. So we unplugged the main line outside and it fixed it for two weeks but now it's back to being stupid again. We've tried everything else and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

    Reason: I have a contact that I know is busy, but still want notifications so he is in "online"-mode and not DND-mode. I want to write "OK" to him, without having to disturb him (having him to open and look in skype to see if it was something important, which it is not). Question: Is there any way to send a message that won't trigger a notification at the receiver's end? Something like a "silent message".

    Hi all, In Mac, in skype when we add users to an existing chat, by clicking '+' button on top, a beak like window appears carrying a token field like control. When an user types some name in it and a match is found then a list appears carrying user icon , status icon and his/her name. Also the width of dynamic list is same as beak window.   • CSS absolute DIV causing other absolute DIV problems

    Hello, I have implemented a chat script which requires an absolutely positioned DIV to be wrapped around the pages content. This is to ensure the chat windows stay at the bottom. The problem is that because of the absolute positioning of this main wrapper, all other absolutely positioned elements (eg. Jquery Auto-completes, datepicker's etc) now scroll up and down with the page. Here is an example of the HTML: <body> <div id="main_container"> <div id="content">Elements like Jquery Autocompletes, Datepickers with absolute positioned elements in here</div> </div> The DIV "main_container" style looks like this: #main_container { width:100%; background-color:#ffffff; /* DO NOT REMOVE THIS; or you'll have issue w/ the scrollbar, when the mouse pointer is on a white space */ overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: scroll; height:100%; /* this will make sure that the height will extend at the bottom */ position:absolute; /* container div must be absolute, for our fixed bar to work */ } I hope there is a simple fix as the chat script is too good to get rid of.   • Using Off-The-Record and Trillian Astra together

    Does anyone know how to use Off-the-Record (OTR) with Trillian Astra? I've found the OTR for Trillian plugin here: http://trillianotr.kittyfox.net/ For the most part, it works and I can use OTR for chats with other people who initiate them or with people whose fingerprints I have. But I cannot initiate one myself to a user for whom I don't have a fingerprint. Other users have referred to using the OTR icon/menu to initiate an OTR chat, but there is no OTR icon or menu in the conversations window. I think this plugin was developed for a previous version of Trillian and not Astra (4.2). Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks in advance!
