  • DL380 G7: Not able to access ILO on DL380 via ssh from a client

    I have problem where I can't access my ILO(ssh to ILO IP) thru client which is in different network.I am able to ping ILO IP thru this clinet but ssh access is not possible. Is it possible to have ssh to ILO IP from a client which is in different network? FYI, from the same client I can do ssh to server application IP but ssh to this server ILO IP is not possible. Kindly help? Some more info added: ILO IP address is 10.247.172.70 and its VLAN is different than Client VLAN. Client IP address is 10.247.167.80. ping to ILO IP from this client is possible but not ssh. I can do ssh to ILO IP if I try to do it from the server(hostname:node1) having ILO port or from the other node of this cluster itself,So ssh login is enabled.   • Problems mounting HPUX LVM+VXFS filesystem on Linux

    I have a physical disk from a HPUX system that I need to access from a Debian Linux for ia64 system. From the hpux-lvm-tools project I have the tools to access the HPUX LVMs (Linux LVM has a different format) and I also have the freevxfs driver. I know beforehand that the disk has three partitions, and that the biggest one contains LVM volumes, and some of those are VxFS filesystems.   • RAID5 on SmartArray P410i online resize

    I have P410i+256M Cache without battery backup. My RAID5 was build over 3*136GB disks, now all disks were replaced to a 3*300GB array. How can I extend it to use the whole space? HPacucli doesn't allows that, I think this might be because no battery is present. I have a redundant power supply. All data is mirrored over DRBD to a secondary server, so I can try to resize with a chance of loss of data in case of power failure, but I prefer to have an online resize.

  • Laptop harddisk produces clicking sound

    This happens when I am booting up into windows, shutdown or things in which I access the harddrive excessively. It doesn't happen all the time. I have checked it with "Crystal disk Info" and it displays no problem, and shows HDD to perfectly fine. Should I be worried about my HDD? I have Hitachi HDD in laptop. Some times my harddrive temps reach upto 43C while watching movies or playing games. What are the normal temps, which are safe for HDD to operate and increase the lifetime of HDD. Thanks

  • Parity Initialization after putting in two new disks

    All my firmware is up to date on the server and the controllers. Storage crashed over the weekend. I rebooted it and it detected that I put in two new disks last week (I did check that both disk completed the rebuilding process last week). After it booted into the OS I see that it gave me an information message. After 18 hours it is at 54% so it is looking healthy. But I need to replace 5 more disk in the msa. Should I wait for this message to finish before replacing more disks? 785 Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on Logical Drive 1 (15.0 TB, RAID 5). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve.

  • Issue with Capslock key on Laptop

    For some reason my laptop has a mind of its own and the Caps Lock tends to come on whenever it feels like it. I thought it was an software issue from that reasoning, but I later cleared the OS and then reinstalled it hoping to fix the problem, but it didn't. Not only does it do that it also comes on and off whenever the letters A, S, and left shift key are pushed. So I assummed it was a keyboard issue and that the keyboard needs to be replaced, but it has one of those touch pad cap lock buttons also, because even when I press that button it tends to not react. So how can that be fixed with a keyboard replacement or is that connected still?   • Procurve Primary VLAN

    I'm trying to depreciate usage of VLAN 1 on my ProCurve switches; 1 is unused. I understand that VLAN 1 must exist, but I want to remove it from all ports, especially trunks between switches. The problem I have is that stacking does not seem to work without VLAN 1. I have changed the primary VLAN and management VLAN on all the switches: (config)# primary-vlan 42 (config)# management-vlan 42 (config)# no vlan 1 untagged 25 Port 25 is the link between the 2 switches I'm testing with; the stack master and a member switch; I only want tagged traffic between the switches, no untagged frames. show stacking on the master shows all members as "UP" but I can not telnet any of them: Telnet failed: Connection timed out. All switches have manually assigned (static) IP addresses on VLAN 42, and all exist in the same /25 subnet, as does my desktop. I can telnet the switches directly from my desktop to the individual switch IP addresses, just not from the master switch. Do I need to reboot the switches to have the primary-vlan change take effect? Or is there something else I'm missing?

  • Move OS from RAID5 array to RAID 1 arrays

    I want to give a last boost to my old ProLiant ML350 G5 server which just needs to be reliable for a few more year only ! With a defined budget of about 1500$ (I do not have more), i plan to replace the CPU (+ adding a second one), the battery cache of my raid controller (E200i), double the RAM, and change all hard drives. I have 7 HDD (SAS 10krpm, 72Gb) + 1 spare in RAID5, and my system is all FULL (no empty tray, full disks). in my current RAID5 array, I have 2 partitions: - 1 OS partition, 20Gb - 1 data partition, 350 Gb I plan to replace these 8 disks with : - 2 x 300Gb SAS 15krpm in RAID 1 (= 1 partition for OS) - 2 x 2Tb SATA 7.2krpm in RAID 1 (= 1 partition for DATA) My biggest constraint is that I have only 01 day to upgrade my server. Therefore, I'm looking for cloning all my files (OS + data partition) to my new arrays, i.e : - the OS partition shall be cloned to the RAID1 "2x300Gb array" - the data partition shall be cloned to the RAID1 "2x2Tb array" My second problem is that I need to physically remove all the old hard drives before inserting the new ones. I'm running Windows Server 2003 R2, and even if MS support will expire soon, I cannot buy a new licence and spent time in configuration. Obviously, with 1500$, I cannot also buy a new server that I could start configuring from now ! Thought about ASR (NTBackup), but I have no floppy drive (and do not really want to invest in one !) Thought about a clonezilla clone, and read this interesting link : Windows Server 2003 - move C: partition to a new SAS disk , but i'm not so confident in using Clonezilla with RAID5. What should be the best option to quickly and easily (if possible!) "copy/paste" my OS (so no need to reinstall and reconfigure all) and DATA / programs / services, etc... ? Thanks for your comments

  • Raid5 is off on my Lefthand P4500

    I have 1 cluster with serveral p4500. There is HW Raid5 and the Raid5 is split on: first 6 is one raid 5, and the other 6 is one raid 5. There were two disk that came up with a fault. I replaced both disk in same Raid5. Now the storagesystem says that Volumes is unaccessable and the Raid5 of the P4500 is down. How can I get the lefthand up and working again? Ive tried to put the old disk in the P4500 again, but this does not help. I also tryed to restart the disk shelf as well. Do you have any idea? Or something to get it to work again?

  • Can different drive speeds and sizes be used in a hardware RAID configuration w/o affecting performance?

    Specifically, I have a RAID 1 array configuration with two 500gb 7200rpm SATA drives mirrored as logical drive 1 (a) and two of the same mirrored as logical drive 2 (b). I'd like to add two 1tb 5400rpm drives in the same mirrored fashion as logical drive 3 (c). These drives will only serve as file storage with occasional but necessary access, and therefore, space is more important than speed. In researching whether this configuration is doable, I've been told and have read that the array will only see the smallest drive size and slowest speed. However, my understanding is that as long as the pairs themselves aren't mixed (and in this case, they aren't) that the array should view and use all drives at their actual speed and size. I'd like to be sure before purchasing the additional drives. Insight anyone?

  • Why I'm unable to use up/down arrows in my BIOS?

    My BIOS is loading and when I wanted to change anything, the up/down arrows aren't working. What might be the problem? I want to change boot options, but I'm unable to select the boot from CD option. My BIOS version is f2.3. Do I need to upgrade it? I need my system for 2 more months continuously and I'm afraid if there might be some problem upgrading. But anyway, what might be the cause for this behavior?     I need to check if I Filesystem exists, and if it does exist there is 300 MB of space in it. What I have so far: if [ "$(df -m /opt/IBM | grep -vE '^Filesystem' | awk '{print ($3)}')" < "300" ] then echo "not enough space in the target filesystem" exit 1 fi This throws an error. I don't really know what I'm doing in shell. My highest priority is AIX but I'm trying to get it to work for HP and Sun too. Please help. -Alex

  • Problems with mounting .ISO files

    I'm using Precise, with GNOME. I've attempted to install some retro, multi-cd games (KOTOR1) via .ISO images and WINE, but I can't get the ISO's to mount correctly. First I tried GMountISO, which showed a read-only warning but worked - until I went to unmount. When the installation program asked for CD 2 I couldn't unmount from the /cdrom folder because neither GMountISO or umount from terminal could detect the mount. After a reboot, I changed to GISOMount (different somehow, I guess?), but when I attempt to mount the ISO I get an error window explaining the syntax of the mount command and, which is also what I get when I attempt to use mount from terminal. After checking /media from terminal on a lark I see the disc mounted there twice over, but umount won't recognize it, even when I specify the full path sudo umount /media/KOTOR_1.iso. It cleared up upon reboot. Can someone please assist? UPDATE :: Thanks for the quick response. What's weird, is the images are like stuck in limbo... I installed ubuntu 10.04 ( without AMD graphics driver) it was working fine, but when I installed AMD graphics drivers AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver, than the problem started from then When I boot I was get black screen. Than I thought to upgrade from ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 using the bootable pen drive but was getting black screen than read on some forums that was because of the switchable graphics, than upgraded ubuntu 12.04 by setting to "nomodeset". It was working, again thought to install graphics driver AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver, again after installing this, when I boot I am getting blank scree . Can anyone help me to inatall ubuntu 12.04 along with AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver. Any help is highly appreciated.

    I recently created a virtual windows xp with Virtual Box OSE. The sound and video seem to be working just fine. However, it does not recognize the webcam which I use to video chat with yahoo messenger. I use Windows to have video chats with my daughters who live in another country. Since I did not want to go back to windows, I decided to try installing windows in a virtual machine. But when I tried using it yesterday, everything worked perfectly except for the webcam. I was not able to make the webcam work. I tried to download the drivers for it, but since my laptop is HP Pavilion g4-1287la, Core i3, none of the drivers I tried worked. I got the same error every time I tried to install them, something like: This driver cannot be installed in this machine

  • HP 6735s Brightness hotkey problem; where is brightness panel?

    I have installed ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop hp 6735s. The screen is often too dark and i want to make it brighter, although the hotkeys Fn+F7/F8 are not working. I have tried some things: Firstly it appears that sometimes they are in fact working, after reboot they either work and continue to do so or they don't. I've read about a brightness applet; but where can i find or install it? I have tried some grub options; acpi_osi=Linux and acpi_backlight=vendor but nothing changes. I don't want to add another question but since it might be related: my laptop also gets quite hot, i'm having doubts whether ubuntu connects to the available sensors and cooling plans (or how does it work???); sensors (or psensor) only shows 2 sensors both named temp1. Any help is greatly appreciated! Paul

  • How do I mount an HP Touchpad (Cyanogen Mod 9)?

    I've recently installed Cyanogen Mod 9 on my HP Touchpad tablet, but I'm encountering problems when trying to access it from my Ubuntu laptop (Ubuntu 11.10, Gnome-Shell, Nautilus). I've first tried accessing it via PTP as suggested here. Ubuntu will recognize the Touchpad as a digicam and only grant me access to two directories: "DCIM" and "Pictures". I then tried accessing the tablet via MTP using this post on OMGUbuntu!. Ubuntu will connect to the tablet, but only grant me access to a folder named "Playlists". I'm a bit clueless as to what I'm doing wrong and would very much appreciate any help or hints. Many thanks!
