  • MVC model flow?

    I am setting up an application using the MVC model and I have a query regrading the flow of information from the UI to the data model. What I need to do is place data from the UI in the model, what I have done is write a method in the view which collects the required data in an object and then passes it to the model. The model then takes ownership of the data so that the view can release its ownership. Does this sound sensible?

  • 3ds collada UV mapping problem in Papervision

    Hi everyone, as I briefly explained in the title, my prblem concerns texturing a collada export in papervision. Basically I was exporting collada models from Cinema 4d with its uv map. I was able to see everything, but the texture was not displaying properly (hidden polygons). So I decided to try with 3dsMax. I used the same code to display the texture : var materials:MaterialsList = new MaterialsList(); var torusMaterial:BitmapFileMaterial = new BitmapFileMaterial("model/tex.png"); torusMaterial.precise = true; materials.addMaterial(torusMaterial, "ID1"); Again, I can see every elements, but this time my model uses only one pixel of my texture. So if I use a red texture and if I color only the pixel at the left bottom corner in green, all my model will be green. Any advice about how to properly wrap the texture around a 3ds export model ?   • Multipart question: Mapping between xml and Json using xpath

    This is a JSON mapping question from a json newbie. Currently i'm reading xml using xpath in C#, and the xpath are returning either the element or attribute node values, as is the schema's want. I want to write out some of the returned values into a json formatted file. I know i can faneigle the xpath expression to return the element or attribute names, so I can built the appropriate name/value json structure before serialization, but I was I'm wondering if their was some way of doing a mapping between the xml and json. The xml schema is fairly big, so potentially the mapping will be big, meaning a ton of cumbersom coding to make it work. Is their any way to automap somehow? I was planning to use json.net, which seems flexible enough, although their may be a better approach. Any help would be appreciated. Bob.

  • Table Disobeys W3C Box Model, Ie8 Ignores Fixed Table Width !

    Hi, I'm having hard time with tables and column widths. Update: I'm using XHTML Strict 1.0. The page is: http://www.pro-turk.net/try The first problem I have is, I have a column with a fixed width of 100px and 4px padding, but it disobeys my padding depending on the value. The column width (as the distance between two borders according to W3C Box Model) is 156 px even if padding is 0 or 4. Only the position of the text changes. According to W3C Box Model ( available at www.pro-turk.net/box_model.png ), borders and paddings aren't included in WIDTH attribute, so why does it render wrongly ? The second problem is, when you look the page I gave with IE8, the first cell in the second row has 150px fixed width, but ie shows it about 50% of the total table width regardless of what i say.

  • Vim: different key mapping for different window

    My .vimrc file has filetype mappings for different filetypes such as : autocmd FileType sh map gf ... autocmd FileType ruby map gf ... While rewriting a program from one language to another, I have 2 splits, one with a shell script and one with ruby. I would assume that "gf" would take on its mapping based on filetype. However, it can only hold one mapping at a time. Is there any way to declare a mapping only for the existing file/window. I tried ":windo" and ":bufdo" but they work for all windows or buffers.

    I have a typical definition/instance situation in my data modeling. I'm trying to store the content_type of a GenericForeignKey in another model (the definition model) like so: class IndicatorFieldInstance(models.Model): definition = models.ForeignKey(IndicatorField) object_id = models.PositiveIntegerField() content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey(definition.content_type, 'object_id') indicator_instance = models.ForeignKey(IndicatorInstance) I've also tried it like this: content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey('definition__content_type', 'object_id') Neither of these methods seem to work. Is it possible to achieve this? For reference, here's the definition model: class IndicatorField(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length='255') content_type = models.ForeignKey(ContentType) indicator = models.ForeignKey(Indicator) Thanks, Pete

    Hi I have the definition for my manytomany relationship on one model but want to display the field on the form of my other model.   • Which type of Rails model association should I use in this situation?

    I have two models/tables in my Rails application: discussions and comments. Each discussion has_many comments, and each comment belongs_to a discussion. My discussions table also includes a first_comment_id column and last_comment_id column for convenience and speed. I want to be able to call discussion.last_comment for the last comment model, but the following (in my discussion model) isn't working to make this happen: has_one :first_comment, :class_name => "Comment" has_one :last_comment, :class_name => "Comment" When I call discussion.last_comment, the following SQL is run: SELECT * FROM `comments` WHERE (`comments`.discussion_id = 1) LIMIT 1 It's using the discussions.id column to join against comments.discussion_id, when I want it to join discussions.last_comment_id against comments.id. Am I using the wrong type of association here? Thanks for your help!

    In the model, I have: public ObservableCollection<Item> Items { get; private set; } In the ViewModel, I have a corresponding list of ItemViewModels: public ObservableCollection<ItemViewModel> ItemViewModels ... In the XAML, I will bind (in this case a TreeView) to the ItemViewModels property. My question is, what goes in the "..." in the ViewModel shown above? I am hoping for a line or two of code to binds these two ObservableCollections (providing the type of the ViewModel to construct for each model object). However, what I'm fearing is necessary is a bunch of code to handle the Items.CollectionChanged event and manually updates the ItemViewModels list by constructing ViewModels as necessary. Thanks! I am using attribute-based mapping to map my database fields to my Linq to SQL entities. I also need to make use of Linq to SQL's On[Property]Changed methods so I can perform change-auditing of database tables within my application. Whereas the documentation explains how to do this when using Linq to SQL's ORM and dbml files (i.e. by writing partial classes), it is not clear how to do with when using attribute-based mapping or when using XML-based mapping. It would be very helpful if someone could describe how to do this.

  • Why can't I register a custom model binder for a List<int>?

    I have an action that looks like public ActionResult GetUsers(List<int> userIds) {//do stuff} The list of userIds can become quite long, so I want to use Json.Net to deserialize it. To do so I created an IModelBinder implementation, which works fine for other objects, but never gets called for a List. The IModelBind looks like this public class JsonBinder : System.Web.Mvc.IModelBinder { public object BindModel(System.Web.Mvc.ControllerContext controllerContext, System.Web.Mvc.ModelBindingContext bindingContext) { //Do model binding stuff using Json.Net } } And I register this model binder with this line ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(List<int>), new JsonBinder()); However the JsonBinder is never called. Why is this? Should I be using a ValueProvider?

  • Disable default Gnome Shell Super Key Mapping

    Gnome Shell by default uses the Super (Windows) key to display the activities overview. But I'd prefer to use the Super key to invoke Synapse. Right now I have to press Super+Super+Spacebar in order to invoke Synapse which is annoying (Super+Spacebar is the binding to invoke Synapse). Is there any way to remove the default Gnome Shell mapping? In the keyboard shortcuts system settings, only the Alt+F1 binding appears for the activities overview action.

    Recently when trying to access a Wordpress blog from a my network I get this error: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. If I request that URL from another connection (ie: remote desktop into another network and try from there), it works perfectly. Anyone got suggestions/ideas on why from my network the site errors, but from others it loads?

I can manually set it (System Preferences - Language & Text - Input Sources), and there's a nice option that lets me use different input sources for different documents, but I'd like to bind it to a key under zsh to easily swap between Qwerty and Dvorak layouts (I'm learning Dvorak, and having the option to switch easily would be sensational).
