• ASP.NET GridView sorting on method data

  Hi, I'm binding a GridView to a domain model object, this domain model object has a method for working out a formatted value to display on the grid. I'd like to use this method for my display value, which is fine, but I'd also like to be able to sort on the value returned by that method. My sort expression can only take in a property/field at the moment. Help please! What do I need to do to get this to work? I'm using an SPGridView actually, but that doesn't make a lot of difference to my problem. Thanks.

I guess it's because of KVC. But what exactly does "no-parameter" mean? Is that any method which does not take a parameter?   I'm using Google Map APIv2. On my webpage I've a sidebar containing a list of markers with onclick event executing showDetails method, that looks like: GMarker.prototype.showDetails=function() { map.panTo(this.getLatLng()); this.openInfoWindowHtml(this.details); }; The problem is that i cannot both panTo and openInfoWindowHtml in one method, it pans but won't open tooltip and when i change method to: GMarker.prototype.showDetails=function() { this.openInfoWindowHtml(this.details); map.panTo(this.getLatLng()); }; it opens tooltip but won't center map to the marker's anchor coordinates. Even using wait function doesn't solve my problem. What am I doing wrong?

• How can I break from a method prematurely that's being called by NSTimer

  Basically I'm writing a metronome app, but I'm using a sound file that, depending on the BPM, might not be finished playing when the "play" method is called again. For example, if the sound file is 0.5 seconds long, but the BPM is 200, the "play" method needs to be called every 0.3 seconds. I'm not overly familiar with NSTimer, but it appears that if it is supposed to fire before the previous invocation has completed, it doesn't, and just waits for the next time around. I could be completely wrong about that though. What I need to do is have the previous invocation end prematurely, and have the "play" method called again when the time is supposed to fire. Any help would be appreciated!

  Hi, The following method does not apply the wpf changes (background = red) until the 2nd method (DoWork) exits: private void change() { Background = Brushes.Red; Dispatcher.BeginInvoke((Action) DoWork); } DoWork() takes several seconds to run and I don't really want to put it into a thread, as this code will be used in several places and will probably interact will the Dispatcher thread at various intervals. I've tried calling the Invalidate...() methods, but to no avail. The BeginInvoke() was added to see if the delay would allow the background change to be applied before the logic was called. Typically, the logic would be part of this method. Btw, most of the logic is performed on a different thread and shouldn't block the Dispatcher thread?! Can someone please help? Thanks

  Hi All I am learning Java through BlueJ I would like to add a removeLot method to the Auction Class in BlueJ Chpt 4. This involves also returning the lot with the given number or null if there is no such lot. If you enter , say 5 lots and then use the remove method, this codes removes whichever lot you specify. However if you enter a new lot after using the removeLot method - an internal error message comes up regarding lotnumbering . Any ideas?   I want to have an extension method for XElement/XAttribute that allows me to apply a "ValueOrDefault" logic - perhaps with various slightly different implementations: ValueOrNull, ValueOrDefault, NumericValueOrDefault (which validates if the value is numeric), but I want to constrain these methods so that they can only work with ValueTypes or String (i.e. it does not really make sense to use any other reference types. Is it possible to do this with one implementation of each method, or will I have to have one where the constraint is "Structure" and one where the constraint is "String" - if I combine Structure and String in the generic constraint, I get the error : 'Structure' constraint and a specific class type constraint cannot be combined. Why does it compile after the original exception specification is included in the override? What have I misunderstood?

• Using iterateFunc to call objective c method

  Using spacemanager, I need to perform an action on select bodies after each step, so I figured that defining my own C function for iterateFunc would be the way to go. Everything works great, except I'm not sure how to then call an obj c method in the same class. In other words, an obj c class contains both the c function replacing iterateFunc, and the method that needs to be called. I don't see how to tell the c function what 'self' is, such that I can call the method. As far as i can tell, there's no way to pass in any extra info to the new iterateFunc. Any ideas, or a better way to go about things?

• Prevent Method call without Exception using @PreAuthorize Annotation

  Hi all. We are using Spring Security 3. We have a custom implementation of PermissionEvaluator that has this complex algorithm to grant or deny access at method level on the application. To do that we add a @PreAuthorize annotation to the method we want to protect (obviously). Everything is fine on that. However the behavior that we are looking for is that if a hasPermission call is denied, the protected method call only needs to be skipped, instead we are getting a 403 error each time that happens.   I have a wrapper class for the Bitmap .NET class called BitmapZone. Assuming we have a WIDTH x HEIGHT bitmap picture, this wrapper class should serve the purpose of allowing me to send to other methods/classes itself instead of the original bitmap. I can then better control what the user is or not allowed to do with the picture (and I don't have to copy the bitmap lots of times to send for each method/class). My question is: knowing that all BitmapZone's are created from a Bitmap, what do you find preferrable? Constructor syntax: something like BitmapZone bitmapZone = new BitmapZone(originalBitmap, x, y, width, height); Factory Method Pattern: BitmapZone bitmapZone = BitmapZone.From(originalBitmap, x , y, width, height); Factory Method Pattern: BitmapZone bitmapZone = BitmapZone.FromBitmap(originalBitmap, x, y, width, height); Other? • C# method generic params parameter bug?

  Hey, I appears to me as though there is a bug/inconsistency in the C# compiler. This works fine (first method gets called): public void SomeMethod(string message, object data); public void SomeMethod(string message, params object[] data); // .... SomeMethod("woohoo", item); Yet this causes "The call is ambiguous between the following methods" error: public void SomeMethod(string message, T data); public void SomeMethod(string message, params T[] data); // .... SomeMethod("woohoo", (T)item); I could just use the dump the first method entirely, but since this is a very performance sensitive library and the first method will be used about 75% of the time, I would rather not always wrap things in an array and instantiate an iterator to go over a foreach if there is only one item. Splitting into different named methods would be messy at best IMO. Thoughts?

Does it mean this single method implementation is sufficient for inheriting all the three Interfaces? How can I implement the method of all the three interfaces and CALL THEM? I know it can done using explicit implementation but I'm not able to call them. :(

  Hey All, Okay, so I have a viewController method that has some elements created with interface builder and some I coded myself. I created a view in the IB...lets call it viewOne. I created a loop that creates buttons (through code) and places them on a separate view (viewTwo). This is done in a class method. However, I want the view I made to be opened everytime one of the buttons is clicked. So I did: [button addTarget:self action:@selector(woogoo:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The woogoo class does the following: +(void) woogoo:(id)sender { //back button [self.view addSubview:viewOne] } However, the program crashes when a button is clicked. I did try making woogoo an instance method but it also crashes in this case too. All I want to do is show viewOne when a button is clicked. Any ideas what I can do?

  Hello, I'm working on C++ project that is supposed to run on both Win32 and Linux, the software is to be deployed to small computers, usually working in remote locations. Recently, our client has requested that we introduce access control via password protection. We are to meet the following criteria : Support remote login Support remote password change Support remote password retrieval Support data retrieval on accidental/purposeful deletion Support secure storage I'm capable of meeting the "remote" requirements using an existing library, however what I do need to consider is a method of storing this data, preferably in a way that will work on both platforms and will not let the user see it/read it, encryption is not the issue here - it's the storage method itself. Can anyone recommend a sage storage method that could help me meet those criteria?
