  • SQL Server Transactions how can I commit my transaction

    I have SQL Server 2005 stored procedure. Someone one is calling my stored procedure within a transaction. In my stored proc I'm logging some information (insert into a table). When the higher level transaction rolls back it removes my insert. Is there anyway I can commit my insert and prevent the higher level rollback from removing my insert? Thanks

    I have an Oracle SQL query as part of a stored proc: DELETE FROM item i WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM item_queue q WHERE q.n=i.n) AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM tool_queue t WHERE t.n=i.n); A bit about the tables: item contains about 10k rows with an index on the n column item_queue contains about 1mil rows also with index on n column tool_queue contains about 5mil rows indexed as well I am wondering if the query/subqueries can be optimized somehow to make them run faster, I thought that deletes were generally fairly fast

  • Why do I get access denied to data folder when using adb?

    I connected to my live device using the adb and the following commands: C:\>adb -s HT829GZ52000 shell $ ls ls sqlite_stmt_journals cache sdcard etc system sys sbin proc logo.rle init.trout.rc init.rc init.goldfish.rc init default.prop data root dev $ cd data cd data $ ls ls opendir failed, Permission denied I was surprised to see that I have access denied. How come I can't browse around the directories using the commandline like this? How do I get root access on my phone?

    Is there a way to configure the directory where core dump files are placed for a specific process? I have a daemon process written in C++ for which I would like to configure the core dump directory. Optionally the filename pattern should be configurable, too. I know about /proc/sys/kernel/core_name_format, however this would change the pattern and directory structure globally. Apache has the directive CoreDumpDirectory - so it seems to be possible.

    I'm writing for an atmel at91sam9260 arm 9 cored single board computer [glomation gesbc9260] Using request_mem_region(0xFFFFFC00,0x100,"name"); //port range runs from fc00 to fcff that works fine and shows up in /proc/iomem then i try to write to the last bit of the port at fc20 with writel(0x1, 0xFFFFFC20); and i segfault...specifically "unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address fffffc20. I'm of the mind that i'm not allocating the right memory space... any helpful insight would be great...

This is how my Stored Proc returns the result set. What resources would you suggest for getting up-to-date on the current state of java technologies? How about learning how to approach DRY (don't repeat yourself) without the use of metaprogramming? Or how to approach various scenarios where a ruby developer is used to passing in a function (proc/lambda/block) as an argument (callbacks, etc)?

    I am looking to alter a stored procedure if a condition exists. I want to leave the stored procedure as is if the condition is not met, so drop/create is not really an option. Trying to put the contents of ALTER PROC inside an IF block is throwing up errors for me. Any thoughts?

  • CPU ordering in Linux (with hyper threading)

    I'm curious what the CPU ordering is in Linux. Say I bind a thread to cpu0 and another to cpu1 on a hyperthreaded system, are they both going to be on the same physical core. Given a Core i7 920 with 4 cores and hyperthreading, the output of /proc/cpuinfo has me thinking that cpu0 and cpu1 are different physical cores, and cpu0 and cpu4 are on the same physical core. It works when SQL Server has already started but does not work when the proc is set to autoexec, via sp_procoption.

  • How do I rename a process on Linux?

    I'm using Python, for what it's worth, but will accept answers in any applicable language. I've tried writing to /proc/$pid/cmdline, but that's a readonly file. I've tried assigning a new string to sys.argv[0], but that has no perceptible impact. Are there any other possibilities? My program is executing processes via os.system (equivalent to system(3)) so a general, *NIX-based solution using an additional spawning process would be fine.
