• Stereo mix causing inaudible input in XP?

  I'm trying to record some of my work process in Camtasia using the stereo mix input. However, my headset microphone is quiet at the best of times, and no matter what combination of input and output volume settings I use, my voice is consistently inaudible. Know of a good fix for this? Should I be looking for a decent audio mixer--and if so, do you know of one that's as effective as it is free?

I can manually set it (System Preferences - Language & Text - Input Sources), and there's a nice option that lets me use different input sources for different documents, but I'd like to bind it to a key under zsh to easily swap between Qwerty and Dvorak layouts (I'm learning Dvorak, and having the option to switch easily would be sensational).

• Skype Raw API (NOT COM API) send message problem

  In converting this CONSOLE example to a full windows dialog implementation I have run into a very "simple problem". SendMessage() (line 283) is returning zero, GetLastError reveals 0x578 - Invalid window handle. http://read.pudn.com/downloads51/sourcecode/windows/multimedia/175678/msgapitest.cpp__.htm (https://developer.skype.com/Download/Sample...example_win.zip) C++ 2005 Studio express edition instructions http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=54549 The previous call using HWND_BROADCAST works and Skype replies as expected, so I know Skype is installed and working properly. The handle I use is the wParam value from the Skype Reply message, as in the code. This is non zero, but I am not sure if there is a way to test it other than with SendMessage. The compiled app from this C++ code example (see zip download) does actually work so I am stumped. I do encode the message with UTF8, and I create an instance of the COPYDATASTRUCT in my app, populate it then call SendMessage() with the COPYDATASTRUCT pointer in lparam. Skype does not respond nor does it obey. Am I missing something obvious here?

• Fade HTML element with raw javascript

  It's my second question of the day related to the same problem, so I apologize for that. I was able to put together a function to "fade out" an element, and it works just fine, my problem is that when I try to reverse it, so the element "fades in" it does not work. I've tried to change the obvious, but I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. My "problem" is this: First I need to make a (non-ssl) connection to the FTP, then tell it to do a ssl connection (AUTH SSL), and I would guess I then need to make a new connection - something like: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(FtpServer, FtpPort); SslStream sslStream = new SslStream(client.GetStream(), false, new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate), null); try { sslStream.AuthenticateAsClient("foobar"); } catch (AuthenticationException e) { MessageBox.Show("Authentication failed - closing the connection."); client.Close(); return; } Taken from msdn. I keep dying on handshake failed due to unexpected packet format (which I've tried googling, but all say it's because the author has connected to a wrong port), which I take as: The connection is not ssl until AUTH SSL is send to it. • PHP Regex to remove nested form elements but not input elements

  I'm modifying a PHP script that I have and it is currently outputting a nested form. Something like: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <p>stuff here here, this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <div>stuff here possibilly</div> Username: <input type="text" name="user" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <p>otherstuff this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> </form> Nested form's are a no-no (IE hates them and basically causes the form to stop working), so I need to remove the nested form lines, but not the form items. I need to remove the nested: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> and </form> but not the outer <form and </form> or the input or submit stuff. Is this possible to do with regex? Note, the reason I just want to regex out the form rather than find the problem is because I know it will take some significant re-working to get rid of the double form... the regex solution is quick for now.

• Converting raw bytes into audio sound

  In my application I inherit a javastreamingaudio class from the freeTTS package then bypass the write method which sends an array of bytes to the SourceDataLine for audio processing. Instead of writing to the data line, I write this and subsequent byte arrays into a buffer which I then bring into my class and try to process into sound. My application processes sound as arrays of floats so I convert to float and try to process but always get static sound back. I am sure this is the way to go but am missing something along the way. I know that sound is processed as frames and each frame is a group of bytes so in my application I have to process the bytes into frames somehow. Am I looking at this the right way? • Inconsistent height of text input elements between Firefox and WebKit

  OK, I realize that this is something of an eternal question, but here goes: I've got a single text input, <input type="text" name="whatever" /> and I've specified its font-family, font-size and padding. Yet, even on the same machine (my Mac, let's say), the input has a different height in Firefox (3.6) than it does in Chrome or Safari. Specifically, Firefox adds a little bit more padding below the text. And no, specifying height in pixels doesn't achieve consistency either. Is there any way to achieve text input height consistency across Gecko- and WebKit-based browsers (let alone IE and Opera) without resorting to JavaScript? And if I must use JavaScript, has someone already devised a jQuery plugin or something to easily do this? Update: Here's what not to do. The jqTransform plugin lets you skin form elements and promises that they'll look the same across browsers. Here's how the demo input looks in Chrome 5 on my Mac: and here's how the same input looks in Firefox 3.6.4: I haven't altered these screenshots in any way, just cropped them. Now, my first reaction is, "Ugh, I don't want to support Firefox." But there are currently more Firefox users than Safari and Chrome users combined, so that's not an option. Someone, please help! I just want my forms to look the same across modern, standards-compliant browsers! And by "look the same," I'm not talking about the outline on selection or anything like that; I'm just talking about having the same width, height, and text placement!

  I would like to make an app that will download videos files that can be played later. At first i thought I could have a UIWeb view and then try to access the cache of it and get the file that way but unfortunately i don't have access to that. After trying that my next thought would be get the direct link to the video file. Essentially what download helper does on fire fox. Any idea of where i could look at for help or any body have any better idea? Is there any stringByEvaluatingjavascript that might be of use or is there away to access the cache on a webview in your own app? Thanks for any help!

• Prevent Text Input expanding in IE

  Hi, I am having a problem with an input field in IE. The code is for a portlet and widths need to be dynamic as the user can place the portlet on any of the three columns in the page which all have different widths. As always it works fine in FF but not in IE. In order to make the width dyanaic I have set width="100%". Data to populate the text input comes from a DB. When the page is rendered if there is a long URL the text input expands to fill the contents in IE but in FF it just stays the same width (ie 100% of the TD that it lives in). How can I stop IE from changing the width in order to fit the contents. Setting the width to a fixed width of 100px fixes the issue but I need to have the width as a percentage in order to accommodate the layout of the portlet wherever it is put in on the page. I have tried overflow:hidden and word-wrap:break-word but I cant get either to work.   Having had a quick look at the Flex docs I can't seem to find any reference to providing audio content to be played from a custom (possibly encrypted - don't worry, it's not that evil) container format. Is this possible and if so, could someone point me in the right direction. Or if that's not possible, some way to hook into the disk/network (disk is much more important in this case) I/O of the sound playing mechanism to provide a supported container in memory from a custom wrapper.

The required behaviour is as follows: I have a link(with a ajax link embedded) xyz.com/admin#page1 When I go to the above page, I should be redirected to the login page, if I am not logged in. After I log in, I should be taken back to xyz.com/admin#page1 For this I need to store the url in session when I visit any page. I've tried this with Intel v10 and MSVC 9.0 and they all seem to work as expected. I believe this should be nothing more than a bitwise compare. If I replace the if-statement with the following: if (static_cast<long long int>(lst[i]) != static_cast<long long int>(d)), and add "-Wno-long-long" I get no errors in any of the optimization modes when run. If I add std::cout << d << std::endl; before the "return 1", I get no errors in any of the optimization modes when run. Is this a bug in my code, or is there something wrong with GCC and the way it handles the double type?

  I have a problem with jquery submit button onclick and default event. What I want to do is replace an click event on submit button if it has one, and get an dialog box to show up, on clicking yes the dialog should start that default onclick event if submit button has one defined, if it hasn't than the default event should happen (button submits form), .submit() function does not work for me in any case cause I need to send this button also through a form and if button wasn't clicked .submit() sends form data without submit data.
