• .net framework execution aborted while executing CLR sproc?

  I constructed a sproc that does the equivalent of FOR XML AUTO in SQL 2008. Now that I'm testing it, it gives me a really unhelpful error msg. Any idea what this error means? • String Comparison containing hyphens not matching

  I have a method in a url rewriting module that looks like this public bool Match(Uri url) { string x = url.PathAndQuery.ToLowerInvariant(); string y = RuleData.ToLowerInvariant(); return x.Contains(y); } However, it is not returning true for the following values: x = "/xx09-02-09xx"; y = "09-02-09"; but if I write a unit test with the raw strings, like below, it does return true [Test] public void Contains() { string x = "/xx09-02-09xx"; string y = "09-02-09"; Assert.IsTrue(x.Contains(y)); // this returns true } What could be the difference? The encoding? The culture? Have tried removing the ToLowerInvarient(), but that makes no difference have tried all the following in the Match method bool contains = x.Contains(y); bool contains1 = x.IndexOf(y) != -1; bool contains2 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) != -1; bool contains3 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) != -1; bool contains4 = x.IndexOf(y, StringComparison.CurrentCultureIgnoreCase) != -1; but none return true for those values, when run in the rewrite module. But they do in the unit test. So something about the strings is clearly different any ideas?

• How to Configure IIS 7.5 to Host Several Classic ASP Sites using 1 IP Address?

  We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and have 4-5 Classic ASP sites to install. The main site is stored in wwwroot and the other sites are stored in folders below wwwroot. We have 1 IP address for the server. How do I configure IIS to allow folks to browse/test the sites before domain names are pointed to te server? When I setup one of the sites in a subfolder of wwwroot and assign a separate port to it, I receive a message stating: Config Error Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'add' with unique key attribute 'value' set to 'index.asp' How do I remedy this error and permit IIS to render the site?

• Represent multiple Null/Generic objects in an ActiveRecord association?

  I have a Casefile model that belongs_to a Doctor. In additional to all the "real" doctors, there are several generic Doctors: "self-treated", "not specified", and "removed" (it used to have a real doctor, but no longer does). I suspect there will be even more generic values in the future. I started with special "doctors" in the database, generated from seed. The generic Doctors only need to respond to the "name" and "real_doctor?" methods. This worked with one, was strained with two, and now feels completely broken. I want to change the behavior and can't figure out how to test it, a bad sign. Creating all the generic objects for testing is also trouble, including fake values to pass validation of the required Doctor attributes. The Null Object pattern works well for one generic object. The "name" method could check casefile.doctor.nil? and return "self-treated", as demonstrated by Craig Ambrose. What pattern should I use when there are multiple generic objects with very limited state?

  Possible Duplicate: Using cd Command in Windows Command Line, Can’t Navigate to D:\ Look at the latter lines of the shell, the cd lines. Nothing's happening :( This is the Win8 shell. I used to have Win7 on C:\, and have since installed Win8 on D:. As you can see, the prompt is in C:\, and so I'm trying to move it to D:\ where it should be. And nothing's happening. How can I change the directory? (Bonus points to anyone who can tell be how to change the default shell directory.

• Best practice? Using DPM to backup VMs within each VM or through the host?

  We've got two Hyper-V hosts running multiple VMs (all flavors of Windows Servers). One of the VMs is running MS Data Protection Manager 2010, which runs beautifully (most of the time) and is connected to a separate NAS via iSCSI for the DPM storage. I noticed when I installed the DPM agent on the Hyper-V hosts, it enumerates the VMs in the DPM Protection listing. I don't want to burn through my storage space too fast with duplicate protection, so I was wondering: Is it recommended to back up VMs through the host, or is it better to install the DPM agent on each VM and backup as I would any other machine? It would seem as though most people (currently including me) do it the second way, but is there any advantage to including the entries under HyperV (Backup using Child Partition Snapshop)?

Additionaly that profile was created locally when a domain-user logged in, and I like to create a copy of that profile for a non-domain-user. Hope it's clear what my problem is.   Hello, we're moving from Solaris to Redhat Linux, and trying to duplicate our low-latency setup, that, on solaris, includes the ndd settings related to TCP NO DELAY, and NAGLE ALGORITHM. I got the impression that those parameters are not all configurable system-wide, but still found some info. we have configured our applications to run with no nagle algorithm, but that is not sufficient. we have found an interesting RH article talking presenting the tcp_delack_min parameter, however, when browsing /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ , I can't find it there. would it be safe to assume that simply "adding" the parameter as it's said on the doc would be enough, or rather that the option is not supported by this version (would be strange, as RH specify that it "can be performed on a standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation") ? any other idea / recommendation to improve latency further ? thanks

• jQuery show based on checkbox value at page load.

  I have an ASP MVC web app and on one of the pages there is a set of Main checkboxes with sub-checkboxes underneath them. The sub-checkboxes should only show up when the corresponding main checkbox is checked. I have the following code that works just fine as long as none of the checkboxes are checked when the page loads. $("input[id$=Suffix]").change(function() { prefix = this.id; if (!$(this).hasClass("checked")) { $("tr[id^=" + prefix + "]").show(); $(this).addClass("checked"); } else { $("tr[id^=" + prefix + "]").hide(); $(this).removeClass("checked"); } }); Now I need to check a database for the values of the main checkboxes. I get the values, and can check the boxes on page load. But when the page comes up, the sub-checkboxes are not displayed when the main checkbox is checked. Also, if the main checkbox is checked when the page loads, the sub-checkboxes are only displayed when the main chcekbox is unchecked (obviously because the above function only acts on .change()). What do you all suggest I try? If you need further explanation feel free to ask. edit: btw, all of this is in $(document).ready()

  Hi, I have a listing page that goes to an add page. The add page has a name textbox whose value is bound to a session scoped bean. The listing page has an add button that goes via an action method to the add page. This action method clears the object that the name textbox is bound to. I also have a cancel button on the add page, which is bound to an action method that again clears the value that the name textbox is bound to. If nothing is set to immediate, this all works fine. However, if I set the cancel button to immediate, if I enter values in the name field, and then click cancel, the action method is fired and clears the object in the backing bean and goes to the listing page. If I then click add, the action method clears the object again (ignore if it's best method or not) and then goes to the add page. I would now expect the add page's name textbox to be empty, but it's not?! Surely, since the add button is not immediate, the values should be re-bound and empty? • PostgreSQL insert on primary key failing with contention, even at serializable level

  I'm trying to insert or update data in a PostgreSQL db. The simplest case is a key-value pairing (the actual data is more complicated, but this is the smallest clear example) When you set a value, I'd like it to insert if the key is not there, otherwise update. Sadly Postgres does not have an insert or update statement, so I have to emulate it myself. I've been working with the idea of basically SELECTing whether the key exists, and then running the appropriate INSERT or UPDATE. Now clearly this needs to be be in a transaction or all manner of bad things could happen. However, this is not working exactly how I'd like it to - I understand that there are limitations to serializable transactions, but I'm not sure how to work around this one. Here's the situation - ab: => set transaction isolation level serializable; a: => select count(1) from table where id=1; --> 0 b: => select count(1) from table where id=1; --> 0 a: => insert into table values(1); --> 1 b: => insert into table values(1); --> ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "serial_test_pkey" Now I would expect it to throw the usual "couldn't commit due to concurrent update" but I'm guessing since the inserts are different "rows" this does not happen. Is there an easy way to work around this?

TrackHistory has each track added to it as a row whenever it is played ie. a track will appear in there many times. Ratings value will either be 1 or -1. What I'm trying to do is select the Track with the highest rating, that is more than 2 hours old, and if there is a duplicate rating for a track (ie a track receives 6 +1 ratings and 1 - rating, giving that track a total rating of 5, another track also has a total rating of 5), the track that was last played the longest ago should be returned. (If all tracks have been played within the last 2 hours, no rows should be returned) I'm getting somewhere doing each part individually using the link above, SUM(Value) and GROUP BY Track_Id, but I'm having trouble putting it all together. I have create one base class and all pages is inherited from that class. There i write following lines to set UICULTURE and culture 1. Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.Name; 2. Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name; Question: Suppose my browser language is Swedish(sv-SE) then this code will run because it find CurrentUICulture and CurrentCulture values as sv-SE. Now if suppose browser language is Swedish(sv) only, in that case values will be set as CurrentUICulture = sv; and CurrentCulture = sv-SE Now the problem is that user can able to view all text in Culture neutral resource file that i kept as english while all decimal saperators, currency and other will be appear in swedish. It looks confusing to usr. What would be right approach. I am thinking following solution. Please correct me? 1. i can create extra resource file for sv also. 2. I check value of CurrentUICulture in base class and if it is sv then replace it with sv-SE Please correct me which one is right approach or Is there any other good way of doing?

• Notepad Automatically Launches Upon Boot Up of my Windows 7 64-Bit Desktop PC

  Around 12 months ago, When my Windows 7 PC boots up, Notepad started to appear automatically on the desktop (as a duplicate ie one on top of the other), both displaying the same writing inside, and the name of the Notepad was: desktop-Notepad. [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787 I cant remember the exact details as its been so long now but a friend told me, this was due to a "hidden attribute" belonging to notepad becoming "unhidden"and therefore showing itself on the desktop at startup. He showed me a series of steps to either hide the attribute again or to delete it ( telling me that upon restart of my computer it would be recreated/regenerated.) I did indeed follow his guidance however after trying to hide it or delete it (it was never recreated after restart which supposedly it should have done) One notepad still is autolaunched with the text as shown above everytime I startup my PC. As I found this forum I thought I might try again for a solution to prevent notepad from launching. Thankyou

  I'm trying to read the response stream from an HttpWebResponse object. I know the length of the stream (_response.ContentLength) however I keep getting the following exception: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: size While debugging, I noticed that at the time of the error, the values were as such: length = 15032 //the length of the stream as defined by _response.ContentLength bytesToRead = 7680 //the number of bytes in the stream that still need to be read bytesRead = 7680 //the number of bytes that have been read (offset) body.length = 15032 //the size of the byte[] the stream is being copied to The peculiar thing is that the bytesToRead and bytesRead variables are ALWAYS 7680, regardless of the size of the stream (contained in the length variable).   PLEASE NOTE: I am reposting as the original was not answered correctly... I AM LOOKING FOR THE WHY - NOT THE SOLUTION - I KNOW THE SOLUTION, WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THE WHY! I have a perplexing issue that I can't seem to comprehend... I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction... I have two SQL statements: - the first enters information from a form into the database. - the second takes data from the database entered above, sends an email and then logs the details of the transaction The problem is that it a appears that a single quote is triggering a MySQL error on the second entry only!!! The first instance works without issue but the second instance triggers the mysql_error(). Does the data from a form get handled differently from the data captured in a form? • Escaping single quote in PHP when inserting into MySQL

  I have a perplexing issue that I can't seem to comprehend... I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction... I have two SQL statements: - the first enters information from a form into the database. - the second takes data from the database entered above, sends an email and then logs the details of the transaction The problem is that it a appears that a single quote is triggering a MySQL error on the second entry only!!! The first instance works without issue but the second instance triggers the mysql_error(). Does the data from a form get handled differently from the data captured in a form? The data in the table All_Tag_Relations stores tag relations for each tutor registered and each class created by a tutor. The tag relations are used for searching classes. But, I want the search to show all those classes such that all the search terms are present in the class name or its tutor name So that searching "Sandeepan class" (wtagrels.id_tag = 1,4) or "Sandeepan Nath" also returns the class with id_wc=1. And Searching. Searching "Bob First" should not return any classes. Please modify the above query or suggest a new query, if possible using MyIsam - fulltext search, but somehow help me get the result.

• Inside what the TexBox value is posted back? ViewState or post back data?

  In one article I was reading on ViewState, I saw a sentence saying that I should not fall into a mistake to believe that the value of a TextBox is stored in ViewState; it is stored in PostBack data. From here what I understand is when I post back a web form, the input controls values are stored in HTTP Request body. Not in the Viewstate. But as far as I know ViewState values are stored in an hidden field called __VIEWSTATE anyway. Then does it mean that __VIEVSTATE value is not posted in HTTP POST Request body as a postback data? Sounds nonesense to me. In another words, basically if I say the ViewState mechanism for such scenerio works like this, am I seeing it right or skipping something: You enter a value on an empty TextBox and submit the page The value of text box is posted back inside POST HTTP Request body. Nothing inside __VIEWSTATE at this point from the TextBox On the server side, the TextBox is created with the default value on OnInit method of the page The TrackChange property of ViewState is set to true. The posted back data of TextBox is loaded. Because it is different than the TextBox defalut value(because the user entered something), the ViewState of this text box is marked as DIRTY. The new value of the textbox is written into __VIEWSTATE hidden field From now on __VIEWSTATE hiddenfeild contains the last given value of the TextBox The page is sent to the user's browser having the __VIEWSTATE hidden field. • IE performance issues with offsetHeight and offsetWidth

  I have a site that grabs the response text from an AJAX call and does 'innerHTML' on a div that is going to contain it. After I do the 'innerHTML' I process the DIV by traversing the whole hierarchy of nodes and grabbing their [offsetWidth/offsetHeight] to do some operations with it. Why not css style width/height? because sometimes those values are not available since I don't control what is coming from the AJAX response, plus I want the real box dimensions including borders/scrolls/padding. On large injections (let's say 7,000 new DOM elements) IE takes way longer time than FF/Safari just to get this [offsetWidth/offsetHeight], actually if I wasn't doing injection but just render the contents of the HTML in the browser and processing it, it would be much faster. But that is not an option since I have to inject it on a div that will contain it. Anybody has deal with this kind of issue before? is there an alternative to innerHTML, I have try using documentFragment to inject and process and the move it to the div and still I don't see much gain. How can I get the values that are available with [offsetWidth/offsetHeight]? Thanks a bunch for any suggestions. Paul
