    Hi, I'm not quite sure what field to use when adding more than 30 days to a Java Calendar object. Is there any difference in between Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH and Calendar.DAY_OF_YEAR?   • Does clustered index on foreign key column increase join performance vs non-clustered ?

    In many places it's recommended that clustered indexes are better utilized when used to select range of rows using BETWEEN statement. When I select joining by foreign key field in such a way that this clustered index is used, I guess, that clusterization should help too because range of rows is being selected even though they all have same clustered key value and BETWEEN is not used. Considering that I care only about that one select with join and nothing else, am I wrong with my guess ?

Is there a way to throw up an error and prevent the keypress from actually outputting anything if the user tries to use any character other than numbers and letters? But I had a couple places in code using this. He recommended using just UpdateCash and sending in the ID for CAsh and field I want to update. Well the problem is I have 2 places in code using my original method. And those 2 places are updating 2 completely different fields in the Cash table. Before I was just able to get the existing Cash record and shove it into a Cash object, then update the properties I wanted to be updated in the DB, then send back the cash object to my method above. I need some advice on what to do here. I have 2 methods and they have the same signature. And I can't go too generic, for example: UpdateCashTransaction(int cashID, paypalTransactionID) What if we have different types of transactionIDs that the cash record holds besides just the paypalTransactionInfoID? such as the creditCardInfoID? Then what? Transaction doesn't tell me what kind. And furthermore what if you're updating 2 fields so you have 2 params next to the cashID param: UpdateCashTransaction(int cashID, paypalTransactionID, someOtherFieldIWantToUpdate) see my frustration? what's the best way to handle this is my boss doesn't like my first route?

  • Arbitrary Form Processing with Drupal

    I am writing a module for my organization to cache XML feeds to static files to an arbitrary place on our webserver. I am new at Drupal development, and would like to know if I am approaching this the right way. Basically I: Expose a url via the menu hook, where a user can enter in a an output directory on the webserver and press the "dump" button and then have PHP go to drupal and get the feed xml. I don't need help with that functionality, because I actually have a prototype working in Python (outside of Drupal).. Provide a callback for the form where I can do my logic, using the form parameters.     I've implemented a ReloadableResourceBundleMessageSource in my Spring MVC application which I use to display prettier error messages for binding exceptions. The problem I'm having is that, due to a company policy, these errors must be displayed in the following format: [inputData] is not a valid [fieldName]. The field name is accessible by default in my message properties file (as the {0} argument), but I can't figure out a way to display the invalid user input. Is this possible?
