  • Windows RDP cannot connect to x64 server from XP SP3+ [closed]

    Hi all, I have a strange problem that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere online. The issue has to do with using Windows RDP to connect to our servers. Here is what works: -XP/Vista client (any SPs) connecting to 32-bit Server 2003 machine -XP (SP2 and lower) client conecting to 64-bit Server 2003 machine Here is what does not work: - XP SP3+/Vista client connecting to 64-bit Server 2003 machine It appears that the issue is that XP SP3 and Vista clients cannot connect to x64 Server 2003 boxes. After entering the username/password, we get an error message saying the below, and the connection drops: To log on to this remote computer, you must have Terminal Server User Access persmissions on this computer. By default, members of the Remote Desktop Users group have these permissions. If you are not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group or another group that has these persmissions, or if the Remote Desktop User group does not have these permissions, you must be granted these permissions manually. The issue is that the user is a member of the Administrators group, which has permission. Also, logging in using the same username, but from an XP SP2 machine, has no problems at all.     I have a 64-bit processor in my PC, but because of worries over application compatibility, up until now I have been using 32-bit Ubuntu (and 32-bit Vista because Dell wouldn't sell me 64-bit with my PC). Is it possible for me to install 64-bit Ubuntu alongside 32-bit ubuntu and 32-bit Windows Vista, so I can choose between them at boot and share data, and without uninstalling my 32-bit Ubuntu? My partitions are as follows Drive 1: 10 GB Vista recovery partition (E:), 240 GB Windows NTFS parition (230 GB used, C:). Drive 2: 167 GB Windows NTFS Partition (130 GB used, D: ), 8 GB swap partition, 13 GB / partition (6 GB used), 62 GB /home partition (20 GB used).

    I am working with SkyDrive for a while now and it is GREAT! The only downside is that I am syncing my laptop and my desktop and that they don't have the same files. Example: For recording, I have Cubase installed on my laptop. This programme creates a folder "Cubase LE" in "My Documents". "My Documents" is being sync'd. This means, that on my desktop a folder will appear, named "Cubase LE". But it is not needed there at all! So what I'm looking for is an option to disable some folders from being sync'd. Can this be done? Like, right-clicking on a folder and selecting an option "Don't sync with SkyDrive". Thanks.

  • Automatically starting svnserve on Snow Leopard

I have installed Subversion onto my iMac running Snow Leopard, but am having trouble getting svnserve to start up automatically. As I understand it (I'm still fairly green with OSX), the best way to do that is to utilize launchd. To that end, I have created the following .plist file in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder.     Is there a way to add a keyboard shortcut for a terminal command in OSX. Basically most of the times i open the terminal app in MAC in order to ssh into a certain server foo. What I want to do is add a keyboard shortcut (say ^k) so that on a terminal when I do that, it runs "ssh foo" in the terminal. Thanks PS: I think if there is something for the xterm in linux then it should work for the terminal too. So this might not be an OSX specific question. PS2: I want the shortcut to do carriage return with the "ssh foo". If its just "ssh foo", then I can write an alias in .bashrc. My goal is to minimize the number of keystrokes I've to do at the end of the day.

  • Why can't I install apps on Windows 8 using specific dial-up modem connections?

    This problem has persisted since I first tried out Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and also affects Windows 8, Windows 8.1 Preview, and Windows 8.1. Specifically, the problem occurs when I try to install apps from the Windows Store on a Globe Tattoo Broadband or Smart Bro dial-up connection (two common ways of connecting to the internet in the Philippines). I can confirm that this isn't a problem with my copy of Windows or my Microsoft account because I was able to install any app on other connections like public WiFi. This problem has persisted on three different dongles and two different computers. So why can't I install apps on those two specific types of connections?

    I have a (text) file containing a list of web site addresses. I know that I can open the file in an editor and then copy-paste the addresses to the browser address bar. That means, if I have ten addresses in that file, I will need ten copy-paste operations, which must be tedious. But is there a way to ask the browser (preferably Google Chrome or Firefox) to open all of them in one go in different tabs? I am using Ubuntu, if that is related in any way to the solution you provide.

  • USB Mouse and Keyboard not working in Linux 4 Tegra

    I am a new person in Tegra Linux development. I have Tamontem NG Evaluation board with Tegra 3 Chip. I installed L4T sample file system from NVIDIA tegra Resources (https://developer.nvidia.com/linux-tegra) and installed the file system as described in the documentation provided in NVIDIA site. Already these was an SD card with L4T running. i dont want to change the boot loader. So I copied the boot.scr.uimg to root (/) folder and uImage to boot(/boot/) and it starts booting from the existing SD card. After that while booting, some errors occurred in some Bluetooth devices (there is no bluetooth device in the board). So I disabled Bluetooth by giving the following command sudo mv /etc/init/bluetooth.conf /etc/init/bluetooth.conf.noexec Now the problem is that mouse and keyboard are not working. So i cannot login. Even though i installed desktop, the mouse and keyboard are not working. But mouse and keyboard are enumerating. lsusb command is showing the USB mouse and keyboard. The installed file system is Ubuntu 13.04. Linux Kernel version is 3.1 What to do. Please help.Thanks in Advance.

    I had installed on my computer as a dual-boot: Debian Squeeze and Windows XP, so I decided to install Windows 8 just to test and then I would remove it and install in its place Debian Wheezy as dual-boot with Windows XP, that was already installed. During the Debian Wheezy installation, I deleted the Windows 8 partition to install Debian W. on its place. The problem is, that after the installation finished I rebooted the computer and on the grub menu was written: Debian Wheezy and Windows 8 (loader) - this Windows 8 (loader) is a boot manager as grub, and after the Win8 installation I was capable of choose between Win8 and WinXP. And when I select Windows 8 (loader) it says the Windows 8 is corrupted and is not possible to boot Windows XP. So, after that, I would like to know, how can I get Windows XP on the grub menu? Because I know its there (the Windows XP), but I can not boot it from grub. Observation: I already tried update-grub, but it only finds Debian W. and Windows 8.
