  • Search for files after a relative date using Windows search

    I am looking for a way to save a search that includes a relative date. Specifically I am looking for a way to save a search that matches files that have a modification date that is 7 days ago. I have read the Windows Search Advanced Query Syntax document and I am not seeing a way to say 7 days ago. The numbers and ranges section does mention that relative dates are possible. The problem is that the relative dates described there do not fit the criteria I need. The lastweek almost looks like what I want except if I run a query like after:lastweek on a Monday it will only show my file that have been modified since Sunday at 12:00. The lastweek/lastmonth seem to relative to the start of the week/month which is not what I need. Multi-word relative dates: week, next month, last week, past month, or coming year. The values can also be entered contracted, as follows: thisweek, nextmonth, lastweek, pastmonth, comingyear. One nice thing about saved searches is that they are stored as an XML document and the file format is documented. I am not seeing how to form a correct value for a datetime. If I was able to understand this format, I suspect I could use a text editor and created a saved search that does what I want.   • Linux and GeForce 8400 dual monitor

    I'm trying to install a linux distribution on my PC. I have a GeForce 8400 GS with two connected monitors. I tried with Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 9.10 (both 64 and 32 bit) and the live cd cannot boot properly. I don't get a visible error on Ubuntu, it simply hangs up during the boot. With Fedora I get this error: [drm] Modeset on unsupported output type [drm] Table 0x0000 not found for 1/1 using first I tried to disconnect one of the two monitor and was able to install on my HD and boot from there, but if I try to connect the second monitor again I cannot boot. Do I need to install something else? (a driver for my video card for example).

  • Mac OS X Terminal get in Macintosh HD? For using Git and Github

    I wanted to get started with using Git and Github especially for installing Web software to my htdocs directory. htdocs is the folder in which you put all your websites that then run by using MAMP -- Apache server, PHP, MySQL and stuff. This not the real problem though, the problem is I am in the terminal and see this: imac-van-jeroen-*******-2:~ JeroensiMac$ And using cd ~ or cd .. just results back in the line above, which is usual. The problem is that all my applications and everything really is not on my user but in the Macintosh HD. Macintosh HD/applications, or Macintosh HD/applications/MAMP/htdocs/ I want to be in the Terminal and go to my Macintosh HD (is this referred to as being superuser?). I want to know if this is just my fault for installing everything on my Macintosh HD instead of Macintosh HD/users/JeroensiMac/~. Also I would like to know if its possible at all, and I am just missing something. And If I am not doing anything wrong is it safe to use Git(Github) with directories in my Macintosh HD?

    I connected my TI-89 to my Windows 7 system, and apparently it is not plug-and-play. There was a link to a Windows configuration setting made available that gave the option to automatically search their windows site for drivers and automatically install them each time i connect an unrecognized device. Well, I selected that link with the intention of it being temporary and just that one time. That didnt work and the location/install of a driver was not successful. How can I reset that setting to not automatically install whatever drivers it thinks might be fitting? I cannot find that configuration setting when I looked for it recently.

    I have a Vista x64 machine on a fairly fast Internet connection and either buggy drivers for the onboard Ethernet or faulty onboard Ethernet hardware. If I sustain too high a throughput on the Ethernet connection the network connection within Windows fails and I have to restart the machine to restore connectivity. I don't believe I can fix this issue (I'm erring towards faulty hardware) but would like to mitigate the effects by limiting my network throughput. I'm in a position where I would like to download a 5GB file from the Internet (a game install via Steam) and am certain that as this will take a few hours I will not be able to complete the download before my network connection within Windows fails. From downloading content through a BitTorrent client I have found that by limiting the download throughput to around 150 kilobytes per second I can maintain a steady network connection. I can't directly limit the throughput of the download through the Steam client and would instead like to find out how I can limit the throughput of my Ethernet connection within Windows. Any suggestions on how I can achieve this?

    Just installed gvim on windows 7 for the first time, and I'm having a problem opening some files. When I open files (I'm doing this through NERDTree,) vim seems to flash up a cmd window for a few second before closing it (too quickly to make out the contents,) and I end up with a C:/Program folder, and a /Files/vim/vimfiles/doc/ in the directory of the file I just opened. I can see it's trying to access C:/Program Files/vim/vimfiles/doc, which is where vim is installed, however it's choking on the space, and I'm not familiar enough with gvim to work out why. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.

    Is there any way to speed up GIMP's startup time on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit 1.6 [Dual] Intel Processors? On XP [different computer], it loads in less than 3 seconds. On Vista, it takes 20 seconds: 2 Seconds (other - fonts, brushes, etc) 18 Seconds (extension-script-fu) It just freezes at extension-script-fu. Looking at ProcessExplorer (or Task Manager, whatever), I see that it's not taking any CPU. EDIT: it does seem to be taking 50% of the CPU. It gets stuck for about 18 seconds, then starts working again, and the actual GIMP program pops up [...finally]. I have the latest stable version running (I think). I tried it with XP SP2 Compatibiliy mode and/or Run As Administrator, but that didn't help. EDIT: One way would be to disable script-fu. Does anyone know how to disable it at startup? (NOTE: Just wanted to point out that the title and the tags are the same. :D )

  • YouTube videos not working

    I have a problem with watching YouTube videos. It says: "An error occurred, please try again later". I've tried loading different videos and that's what it says to all the videos I try to watch. I've tried using another browser, clearing cache + cookies etc, but none of that really worked out. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium, I use Google Chrome as my browser. And the YouTube videos was able to be watched earlier. I suspect that it has something to do with the PC, since I've got YouTube working on my laptop earlier.     I would like to use vsftpd with virtual users and pam_pwdfile.so. I installed vsftpd and added two users (ramon and dragon) via htpasswd to my file /etc/vsftpd.passwd. I can login with the user "ramon", but not with the user "dragon". Any ideas?

Tried -vf, it says there is no rotate. If I try to do it in VLC it simply does not rotate and kills the audio (did the vlc encoding EVER work? Every single freakin video I throw at it gets fu****d up in some way -_- ) I'm on a MAC and don't have iWork. Any ideas?   • Installing MySQL 5.5 manually on Ubuntu 10.04 server, errors about "/tmp/mysql.sock"

    I've set up an Ubuntu server and wanted to install MySQL 5.5. I've been following these MySQL documentation steps. I have libaio dev installed. Everything went fine until I ran bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql & It runs into an issue and never returns to the shell. The output of mysqld_safe is logging to /usr/local/mysql/data/host_name.err. When I checked that file, it was complaining about /tmp/mysql.sock. I can unfortunately describe just parts of the error, since before I started right now it deleted all the files I've started installing back then by mistake. Should I change the socket to /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.socket after copying the .cnf file to /etc? I've also checked the /var/run/mysqld directory and there is no mysqld.socket. How do I proceed?
