  I actually have two questions, both are probably simple, but for some odd reason I cant figure it out... Like, for example, a normal JSON feed would have something like: {'item':{'blah':'lorem'},'item':{'blah':'ipsum'}} the JS would be like console.log(item.blah) to return lorem then ipsum in a loop How do I do it when i dont know the first item of the object? • java.util.BitSet -- set() doesn't work as expected

  Am I missing something painfully obvious? Or does just nobody in the world actually use java.util.BitSet? The following test fails: @Test public void testBitSet() throws Exception { BitSet b = new BitSet(); b.set(0, true); b.set(1, false); assertEquals(2, b.length()); } It's really unclear to me why I don't end up with a BitSet of length 2 and the value 10. I peeked at the source for java.util.BitSet, and on casual inspection it seems to fail to make sufficient distinction between a bit that's been set false and a bit that has never been set to any value... (Note that explicitly setting the size of the BitSet in the constructor has no effect, e.g.: BitSet b = new BitSet(2);

• Error in R for missing object

  I have several nested functions, some of which as called in lapply clauses. In the process, sometimes I don't set a default for a parameter and instead check if it was supplied using the missing function. I'm getting a strange error right now when I'm not passing a value for a parameter, it has no default, yet missing resolves to FALSE. And when I try to use or check the parameter in any other way (using length, exists, etc.), I get an error: Error in try(length(x)) : argument "data" is missing, with no default Has anyone experienced this failure of the missing function before?

  Hi. A "quicky": how can I get the size (width) of a NSString? I'm trying to see if the string width of a string to see if it is bigger than a given width of screen, case in which I have to "crop" it and append it with "...", getting the usual behavior of a UILabel. string.length won't do the trick since AAAAAAAA and iiiiii have the same length but different sizes (for example). I'm kind of stuck. Thanks a lot.

• getView only shows Flagged Backgrounds for drawn Views, It does not show Flagged Background when scroll to view more items on list

  I am trying to create a listview that receives a flagged list of items to indicate a status to the user. I have been able to create the flag display by using a yellow background (see image at bottom). In Theory, the flagged list can have many flagged items in it. However in my app, only the first three flagged backgrounds are shown. I believe this is because they are initially drawn to the screen. The Flagged background that are not drawn initially to the screen do not show. I'd like to know how to get the remaining flags to show in the list. ListView Recycling: The backgrounds in the listView are being recycled in getView(). This recycling goes from position 0 to position 9. I have flags that need to match at positions 13, 14 and so on. Those positions are not being displayed. listView.getCheckedItemPositions() for multiple selections: This method will not work in my case because the user will not selected the flags. The flags are coming from the server. setNotifyOnChange() and/or public virtual void SetNotifyOnChange (bool notifyOnChange): I'm not adding new data to the list, so I don't see how this method would work for my program. Does this method communicate to getview when it is recycling data? I was unable to find an answer to this in my research. public void registerDataSetObserver: This may be overkill for my problem, but is it possible to have an observer object that keeps track of the all the positions in my items list and in my flag list no matter if the view is recycled and match them on the screen? • WebKit and Opera won't load from this server when it's in a frame

  This site loads fine in Firefox, but in WebKit browsers (Safari and Google Chrome) it won't load the frame, and in Opera I get this error: "The Web site does not permit its content to be displayed in a frame. It must be displayed in a separate window.". I don't expect to be able to actually fix this, as I don't have control over the frames page (only the content of the frame), but my question is: why? The content of the frame loads fine by itself, and saving the frames page and changing the src of the frame to http://w3.org/ loads fine. I did a bit of searching based on the Opera error, and it seemed to suggest it had to do with redirecting. That URL does indeed redirect, but if I change it to http://mini.milli.no/tonje/main (which doesn't redirect), it still doesn't work. Even Apache directory listings don't work - which to me suggests it's server related. But how can a server do that? To be total clear, I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3, and I tested with Safari 4.0.5, Chrome 5.0.375.55, Opera 10.53, and Firefox 3.6.3. Basically, the newest of all of those things currently.

• Parsing language for both binary and character files

  The problem: You have some data and your program needs specified input. For example strings which are numbers. You are searching for a way to transform the original data in a format you need. And the problem is: The source can be anything. It can be XML, property lists, binary which contains the needed data deeply embedded in binary junk. And your output format may vary also: It can be number strings, float, doubles.... You don't want to program. You want routines which gives you commands capable to transform the data in a form you wish. Surely it contains regular expressions, but it is very good designed and it offers capabilities which are sometimes much more easier and more powerful. Something like a super-grep which you can access (!) as program routines, not only as tool. It allows: joining/grouping/merging of results inserting/deleting/finding/replacing write macros which allows to execute a command chain repeatedly meta-grouping (lists-tables-hypertables) Example (No, I am not looking for a solution to this, it is just an example): You want to read xml strings embedded in a binary file with variable length records. Your tool reads the record length and deletes the junk surrounding your text. Now it splits open the xml and extracts the strings. Being Indian number glyphs and containing decimal commas instead of decimal points, your tool transforms it into ASCII and replaces commas with points. Now the results must be stored into matrices of variable length....etc. etc. I am searching for a good language / language-design and if possible, an implementation. Which design do you like or even, if it does not fulfill the conditions, wouldn't you want to miss ? EDIT: The question is if a solution for the problem exists and if yes, which implementations are available. You DO NOT implement your own sorting algorithm if Quicksort, Mergesort and Heapsort is available. You DO NOT invent your own text parsing method if you have regular expressions. You DO NOT invent your own 3D language for graphics if OpenGL/Direct3D is available. There are existing solutions or at least papers describing the problem and giving suggestions. And there are people who may have worked and experienced such problems and who can give ideas and suggestions. The idea that this problem is totally new and I should work out and implement it myself without background knowledge seems for me, I must admit, totally off the mark.

  Hello, I have imported a swf (not created with Flex, i.e. non-framework) into a Flex application. Once loaded, I would like to access movieclips within that imported swf. Looking at Adobe's docs (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=controls_15.html), it seems straightforward; however, their examples are between a Flex app and an imported swf (created with Flex). Like their example, I'm trying to use the SystemManager to access the imported swf's content; however, I receive the following error: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@58ca241 to mx.managers.SystemManager. Is this error occurring because I'm importing a non-framework swf into a framework swf? Thanks in advance for any assistance.   Ok, I understand perl hash slices, and the "x" operator in Perl, but can someone explain the following code example from here (slightly simplified)? sub test{ my %hash; @hash{@_} = (undef) x @_; } Example Call to sub: test('one', 'two', 'three'); This line is what throws me: @hash{@_} = (undef) x @_; It is creating a hash where the keys are the parameters to the sub and initializing to undef, so: %hash: 'one' = undef, 'two' = undef, 'three' = undef The rvalue of the x operator should be a number; how is it that @_ is interpreted as the length of the sub's parameter array? I would expect you'd at least have to do this: @hash{@_} = (undef) x length(@_);

I know how to set it, but I'd prefer to calculate the proper width because its contents changes. • ASP.NET MVC WAP, SharePoint Designer and SVN

  All, I'm starting a new ASP.NET MVC project which requires some content management capabilities. The people who will be managing the content prefer to use SharePoint Designer (successor to FrontPage) to modify content. I'd like to allow them to keep doing that. The issues are: Since I'd like this to be a WAP, not a website project, how can I allow them to see their changes in action without requiring them to have Visual Studio on their local machines? Can I specify a "default" action for a controller so that given a url like /products/new_view_here Can I let them save pages (views) and see them in the browser without having to go through the check-in/build/deploy process? I'd like their changes to be stored in SVN; SharePoint designer seems to only support Visual SourceSafe (ugh) directly. The ideas I've come up with so far are Write an HTTP handler that implements the FrontPage Server Extensions protocol. This sounds time consuming, but I haven't yet looked at the protocol spec. However, it would allow me to perform whatever operations I want on the server side, including checking files into SVN. Ditch the WAP in favor of a website project. I do not like having the source present on the server, however. Also, will MVC work in a website project? Surely someone has tackled this problem before?

• Discussion - Allowing / blocking user access to pages (Client Side Only!) - Javascript / Jquery

  TLDR Using plain HTML / Javascript (Client Side) I want to prevent viewing of certain pages. The user will have to type a username and password and depending on that they get access to different pages. Answers can NOT include server side whatsoever It does not matter if they can break it easily. There is no sensitive information etc. Also the target audience will not have access to internet OR probably know what a cookie is... At some point the user will have to type username / password.(I can define the cookie here) Currently I thought of using cookies to set a cookie for each page to say "true" / "false" but that would get messy with so many cookies. Or setting an array within a cookie for each page? I have div field "#Content" which as it looks encompasses all of my content on the page so blocking out content will be as simple as replacing it with ("sorry you don't have access") etc. For Example: $.cookie("Access","page1, page2, page3"{ expires: 1 }); I am looking for anyway to do this does not have to be with cookies. Would be nice to get a discussion of different ways this can be done. So the question is: What do YOU think would be a good way to go about doing this with client side validation?
