• Keeping track of threads when creating them recursively

  I'm currently working on some code for my Programming Languages course. I can't post the code but I'm permitted to talk about some high level concepts that I'm struggling with and receive input on them. Basically the code is a recursive DFS on a undirected graph that I'm supposed to convert to a concurrent program. My professor already specified that I should create my threads in the recursive DFS method and then join them in another method. Basically, I'm having trouble thinking of how I should keep track of the threads I'm creating so I can join all of them in the other method. I'm thinking an array of Threads but I'm unsure how to add each new thread to the array or even if that's the right direction.

• How does Scrum work when you have multiple projects?

  I'm fairly well read in the benefits and processes of Scrum. I get the ideas on the backlog, burndown charts, iterations, using user stories, and other various concepts of the Scrum "framework". With that said... I work for a web development firm that manages multiple projects at one time, with six team members that make up the "production team". How does Scrum work with having multiple projects? Do you still just schedule an iteration for a single project in a certain amount of time and the entire team works on it, and then you move on to the next project with a new iteration when that iteration is completed? Or is there an "agile" way in managing multiple projects with their own iterations with only one team at the same time?

• What tools do people use to make programming tutorial videos?

  Hi folks, I'm wanting to make some yee-run-o-the-mill tutorial video's about some programming concepts and stuff i've been doing. Nothing special ... lots of peeps been doing it. What tools are people using to record and edit these videos? What resolutions / fonts / sizes do people generally use/set? The only tool I've had experience with is Camtasia - and i didn't mind it. But i've seen vid's (or live demo's) where people zoom in to code sections.. how do they do that? For final editing, do most people just do some simple power point presentation with some video snippets mashed in. cheers!

  I'm working in AutoCAD using the ObjectARX .Net API. Is there a way to either create text using lines/curves/polylines, or explode an existing text object into lines/ect? Prefereable I would like to be able to generate linework based on an exsiting AutoCAD text style. Edit: I was able to find the source for the TxtExp command here . However its in AutoCADs own Lisp language, and I can't make heads or tails of it.

The interview is not particulary hard, just some questions about .Net and C# plus an algorithm to code. I tried C# in a Nutshell but it goes in too much detail for what I want to achieve. I'm more looking for a good yet small book that explains the important concepts of the .Net framework and C#, I already know the details, just want formal explanations so I'm confident when answering. • Detecting crosses in an image

  I am working on a program to detect the tips of a probing device and analyze the color change during probing. The input/output mechanisms are more or less in place. What I need now is the actual meat of the thing: detecting the tips. In the images below, the tips are at the center of the crosses. I thought of applying BFS to the images after some threshold'ing but was then stuck and didn't know how to proceed. I then turned to OpenCV after reading that it offers feature detection in images. However, I am overwhelmed by the vast amount of concepts and techniques utilized here and again, clueless about how to proceed. Am I looking at it the right way? Can you give me some pointers? • How to resize an image smoothly (with resampling) using Windows API calls?

  I need to resize images and resample them so they don't end up all jagged (I think that's called aliasing). I found some code (sorry, lost the link) that does this in pure VB6 code but it's a bit slow (2-5 seconds) and I'm displaying pictures in real time so I need something faster. I seem to recall seeing some examples of doing this with the GDI+ library. An example in VB6 would be ideal, but I can probably work with a simple example with Windows API calls in another language.

  I have looked at a couple of books and all I have looked at were just discussing the technicalities of OOP. By technicalities I mean, here's a concept, here's some code, now get working. I have yet to see a book that discusses the architectural process, what are the ways of doing this, why doing this is bad, how to actually incorporate design patterns in a real-world project, etc. Can you recommend a good resource or book? I am mainly programming with PHP but a language-agnostic book/resource would do :)

For a compiled language like C, people usually give the explanation of "Code is compiled to assembly which is assembled and linked into a binary executable. The executable is then loaded into memory and the CPU interprets it." My question is how does the CPU know where to look for the next instruction to execute? Is it a memory address stored in one of the registers?

• How can Domain driven design be combined with aspect oriented programming?

  I'm doing research and one point I want to cover is "What is the relationship between Domain-driven Design and Aspect oriented programming?" I know that a main principle in DDD is separation of concerns and I understand that. What I'm not really certain is, whether aspects in AOP acts like "sub domains" in our domain in DDD. Are these two concepts, basically the same thing. I mean, If I develop an application following AOP and DDD, at the end of the day will it be true that "a sub domain" == "an aspect". I will also appreciate any other opinions what is the common between AOP and DDD.
