  My site is i18n based on the following structure: mydomain.com/en mydomain.com/en/product/blue-widgets mydomain.com/fr mydomain.com/fr/product/blue-widgets The site is internationalised not localised, therefore i don't want to GEO target specific locals just target "french" or "english" speaking users. When submitting a sitemap to the search engines should i send one sitemap with links to all the different language versions or have one separate sitemap for each language. Is that even possible?

  When we define a property like public string Name {get; set;} dot net can make our properties code. but when we use public string Name {get;} public string Name {set;} we face with 'Hajloo.SomeThing.PropertyName.set' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern. Automatically implemented properties must define both get and set accessors. Actualy whay compiler can't determine the property and make code automatically ? what's happen ?

• ASP.net MVC [HandleError] not catching exceptions.

  In two different application, one a custom the other the sample MVC application you get with a new VS2008 MVC project, [HandleError] is not catching exceptions. In the sample application I have: [HandleError] public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { ViewData["Message"] = "Welcome to ASP.NET MVC!"; throw new Exception(); return View(); } public ActionResult About() { return View(); } } which is just the default controller with an exception being thrown for testing. But it doesn't work. Instead of going to the default error.aspx page it shows the debug information in the browser. The problem first cropped up in a custom application I'm working on which led me to test it with the sample application. Thinking it had something to do with changes I made in the custom application, I left the sample application completely unchanged with the exception (yuck) of the throw in the index method. I'm stumped. What am I missing?

  Iam running Zend with Apache and got to see a strange behaviour.... If i type http://127.0.0.1 in my browser url, it works fine, but after typing: http://localhost, i will get a file download window, saying file type as: application/x-httpd-php And in my httpd.conf file, i have the following under VirtualHost *:80 definition: ServerName localhost DocumentRoot E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Directory E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Perhaps some configuration problem... can anyone guide me..

  I'm a bit unsure about the Usage Information and Limits of Yahoo YQL. Per application limit (identified by your Access Key): 100,000 calls per day. Per IP limits: /v1/public/: 1,000 calls per hour; /v1/yql/: 10,000 calls per hour. Do I require an application/access key for the /v1/public/ interface, non of the examples uses one. If I don't need an application key and only access the /v1/public/ interface I only have do worry about the IP limits of 1,000 calls per hour, right?

  I've got this class: class Foo { public string Name { get; set; } } And this class class Foo<T> : Foo { public T Data { get; set; } } Here's what I want to do: public Foo<T> GetSome() { Foo foo = GetFoo(); Foo<T> foot = (Foo<T>)foo; foot.Data = GetData<T>(); return foot; } What's the easiest way to convert Foo to Foo<T>? I can't cast directly InvalidCastException) and I don't want to copy each property manually (in my actual use case, there's more than one property) if I don't have to. Is a user-defined type conversion the way to go?

• Custom QGraphicsItems not compiling and gives "object is private" error

  Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine. The sample code for that can be found here. Any idea what is wrong? Thanks in advance.

  Given a EF-Code First CTP5 entity layout like: public class Person { ... } which has a collection of: public class Address { ... } which has a single association of: public class Mailbox { ... } I want to do: PersonQuery.Include(x => x.Addresses).Include("Addresses.Mailbox") WITHOUT using a magic string. I want to do it using a lambda expression. I am aware what I typed above will compile and will bring back all Persons matching the search criteria with their addresses and each addresses' mailbox eager loaded, but it's in a string which irritates me. • How do I serve nested static content on Heroku?

  I have a rails application with static content in the public directory (e.g. public/index.html) and additional static content in nested subdirectories (e.g. public/one/two/index.html). All the static content is served correctly if I run it locally via script/server but when I upload it to Heroku the top-level page loads correctly but the nested content returns a 404. I've found a number of resources (for example this question) which discuss static content in rails but they all seem to assume a fairly simple structure with a single directory containing all the files. Is there any way I can fix this?

• UrlHelper and ViewContext inside an Authorization Attribute

  I have a scenario that I haven't been able to solve: I'm toying around with creating my own custom authorization attribute for mvc. The main bit of functionality I would like to add is to have the ability to change where the user gets redirected if they are not in a certain role. I don't mind that the system sends them back to the login page if they're not authenticated, but I would like to choose where to send them if they are authenticated but not allowed to access that action method. Here's is what I would like to do: public class CustomAuthorizeAttribute : AuthorizeAttribute { public string Action; public string Controller; protected override bool AuthorizeCore(System.Web.HttpContextBase httpContext) { // if User is authenticated but not in the correct role string url = Url.Action(this.Action, this.Controller); httpContext.Response.Redirect(url); } } And as an added bonus I would like to have access to ViewContext and TempData before I do the redirect. Any thoughts on how I could get instantiate a UrlHelper and ViewContext in the attribute?

Whenever I switch back to connecting at home, I have to re-enter the info for the static ip. How can I have the home network setting remember its static ip settings regardless of connecting to public dynamic network earlier?

  I've found recently that for some types of financial calculations that the following pattern is much easier to follow and test especially in situations where we may need to get numbers from various stages of the computation. public class nonsensical_calculator { ... double _rate; int _term; int _days; double monthlyRate { get { return _rate / 12; }} public double days { get { return (1 - i); }} double ar { get { return (1+ days) /(monthlyRate * days) double bleh { get { return Math.Pow(ar - days, _term) public double raar { get { return bleh * ar/2 * ar / days; }} .... } Obviously this often results in multiple calls to the same accessor within a given formula. I was curious as to whether or not the compiler is smart enough to optimize away these repeated calls with no intervening change in state, or whether this style is causing a decent performance hit. Before someone asks those questions: Private setters do make sense. The ambiguity also exists with custom namespaces (which is the problem I'm facing).
