Hi, I want to use Open GL ES 2.0 for a new game, but I have two questions. Q: The first is how do I set up perspective views in Open GL ES 2.0 - do I need to include Open GL ES 1.0 and use glOrtho, or is there a new way? Q: I want to use the 4th quadrant of a Cartesian co-ordinate system for my game and not use -0.5 to +0.5 for values on screen, how once the first question is answered can I achieve this? Minimalistic PHP template engine with caching but not Smarty?

There are loads of questions for "the right" PHP template engine, but none of them is focused on caching. Does anybody know a lightweight, high-quality, PHP 5 based template engine that does the following out of the box: Low-level templating functions (Replacements, loops, and filtering, maybe conditionals) Caching of the parsed results with the possibility to set an individual TTL per item, and of course to force a reload programmatically Extremely easy usage (like Smarty's) Modest in polluting the namespace (the ideal solution would be one class to interact with from the outside application) But not Smarty. I have nothing against, and often use, Smarty, but I am looking for something a bit simpler and leaner. I took a look at Fabien Potencier's Twig that looks very nice and compiles templates into PHP code, but it doesn't do any actual caching beyond that. I need and want a template engine, as I need to completely separate code and presentation in a way that a HTML designer can understand later on, so please no fundamental discussions about whether template engines in PHP make sense. Those discussions are important, but they already exist on SO.

Abstract Forms using WinForms

I’m trying to achieve a similar affect in a WinForms application as a master form does with ASP.NET. My initial thoughts on this were to create a base form and declare it as abstract, but the compiler doesn’t seem to let me do this. public abstract partial class Master : Form { public Master() { InitializeComponent(); } } So I have two questions: Why will the compiler not let me do this? Am I using the wrong syntax or is this a genuine restriction. Can anyone suggest a workaround or better way to do this? Quick Story: I started a new job where everyone funneled their questions to 'the geek'. Being an experienced developer, I can do most of my assignments without consultation with the geek - thinks such as how to select the top 10 rows in a table. Question: Is there a preferred way of handling these cases without offending the existing geek while ensuring the best solution gets implemented? My issue is the the existing geek is very young and makes a lot of mistakes, but still sounds authoritative because the other coders are just out of school and don't know better.

Hi all, Right now i have an asp.net 2.0 app which allows a user to search by the following fields Location (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Address (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) Zip (Required if there is nothing in idnumber field) **OR** IDNumber. (Required if there is nothing in any of the other fields) What i'd like to be able to do is validate this client side on button click and display a summary of errors. i.e. if a user leaves every criteria blank. I'd like to display "You must enter a IDNumber or "Location, Address, and Zip to continue" I've never used the Custom Validation control so here are some questions. 1) Is it able to do this? 2) Does anyone have an example of how to do this? When I add a reference to an assembly (living in the GAC) to web.config in an ASP.NET project, what does Visual Studio do? [This is related to an earlier question pertaining to BusinessObjects: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2379615/ ] When I add "CrystalDecisions.Enterprise" and "CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework" to the assemblies element in web.config, VS thinks long and hard about it, locking me out for a couple of minutes while it scrutinizes the newcomers. What is it doing during this time? I Googled this but came up empty. I can make some educated guesses (IntelliSense integration, perhaps?) but would ideally like to find some documentation describing exactly what's going on. Ultimately I'm hoping to learn why these BO references are making VS take several minutes to open my projects (I struck out on the SAP forums).

How to register a function in a driver code as its ISR

Following the feedback i got from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2683682/new-to-linux-kernel-driver-development/2683819 I have written a driver (.c file) by comparing it with an existing driver and "borrowing" heavily from its code. The driver is registered fine and init() and probe() are working fine. I am also able to access the peripheral device registers. :-) However i am a bit hazy about the IRQ/ISR. The peripheral-device is a input device and raises an interrupt on a GPIO pin. How do i move ahead from my current state ( init(), probe(), etc. ) to be able to handle the IRQ and execute my ISR function?? Many-Thanks in Advance

emacs indentation in asm mode

I am looking for the equivalent of c-indent-level and ruby-indent-level, for asm-mode. That is, I want to force the indentation to 4 spaces, and I want them to be replaced with blanks. What I've seen tells me it does not exist for asm-mode. Could someone please tell me this is wrong? I tried this also: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/69934/set-4-space-indent-in-emacs-in-text-mode , to no av. I have tried: (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-line-function 'insert-tab) (setq asm-indent-level 4) This works however: (custom-set-variables '(tab-stop-list (quote (4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 68 72 76 80 84 88 92 96 100 104 108 112 116 120)))) But I wonder if there is a way to define that for asm-mode only. What if I wanted to keep the default tab behaviour for other modes?

Hello! Couple of questions regarding Twill and Mechanize: 1) Is Twill still relevant as a web-automation tool? If yes, then why is not currently maintained? If no, has Mechanize matured further to support Twill-style simple scripting? Or is there another package that has stepped up to fill the gap? 2) I was able to very quickly setup a couple of test suites in python using Twill, but I'm a little confused on how to access the information that Twill spits out in my python program. That is, I can do showforms() and see the form values neatly listed and I can use fv to update the form values and submit. But how do I access one of those form values as a python var? I've came up with the following: Create JDBC CRUD backend ( S=1d, M=5d, H=10d ) Create JSP/Servlet frontend for a CRUD app ( S=1d, M=10d, H=20d ) Create Swing desktop frontend ( S=1d, M=15d, H=30d) Create ORM based CRUD etc. Create Webapp fronend with webframework etc Where.. S = Small complexity M = Medium complexity H = High complexity 1d = 1 day This is thought for a Java "enterprise" developer. The other profile I have is SOA Developer, but I could not pass beyond: Create webservice ( S=.5d, M=2d, H=7d ) Q.- What other activities should a Java Developer be able to do? StackOverflow Site Layout Problem in Chrome

I was cleaning up one of my questions here and noticed that Stack Overflow's comments were overflowing into the right column in Chrome. The question is, what's the difference in CSS handling between Chrome and Firefox. I don't have access to Safari, Opera, et al. Can someone tell me in which browsers the error manifests? Is it just me? Here's the layout error: (my apologies to Tim Down for covering up his name with my comment bubble) Since I have no natural skill for good layouts and the whole process makes me sad, I wonder if someone can diagnose the error on StackOverflow and make a recommendation on how to avoid it. Is this a consequence of embedding a div inside a td? Plus I admit it. It's fun to point out an error on one of the greatest sites ever.

Can an Aspect conditionally render parts of a JSP page ?

At present the jsp pages have normal authorize tags to conditionally render links and information etc. The website is on the intranet, and we're using Spring Security 2.0.4. Ive now got a business user who wants to allow all roles to access everything for the first few weeks, then gradually add the security back in as feedback is gathered from the business. Rather than go through every page, removing the authorize tags, only to have to put them back in, is is possible to configure these through an aspect, or is there any other way to externalize this into a config file ? I've found Spring's MethodSecurityInterceptor and the meta data tags, but these wouldn't give me the externalization. I've been on google for the last hour, and am now pretty sure this can't be done, but would love to find out I haven't been asking the right questions. Advice appreciated

Converting a JSP to a SharePoint webpart

We have a large number of Java based servlets/portlets running in a BEA portal that we want to convert into SharePoint 2007 webparts. Many of the portlets use user preferences but the implementations are split between preferences being handled by the portlet directly and stored in a separate database from the portal. Others are using the BEA WebLogic API for user preferences. Three questions: Has anyone gotten a Java Servlet/JSP (compiled against JRE 1.4.2 and running on Tomcat 4.1) to run as a SharePoint 2007 webpart? How large of an effort was it in general (as in, was it measured in days/weeks/months)? Would it be easier to rewrite the portlet as native webparts at least as far as user preferences are concerned?

Clojure lots of threads

I just got done watching Rick Hickey's "Clojure Concurrency" talk, and I have a few questions about threads. Let's say I have a situation with lots of Agents, let's say 10,000 of them running one machine. I'd rather not have 10,000 CPU threads running at once, but I don't want threads to be blocked by the actions of other threads. In this example I won't really be waiting for replies, instead each Agent will be sending a message or two, and then waiting until it gets a message. Best way to access database from android

I am working on a Android app and I have a dilemma. I have a list of Objects. I have to update each of these objects with a database. I have 2 methods: Method 1: I can loop through the Objects. For each object I can connect to the server, update it, and then move on to the next Object, and so forth. Method 2: I can store the Objects in a list, send the whole list to the server, update it on the server side, then return a list of updated objects. My questions are: Which method is faster? Which method is easier on the phone's battery? By the way, Method 1 is easier for me to code :). Thank you.
