  • How do I lock the layout of my android program to one orientation

    I'm trying to write a program that needs smooth orientation sensor samples as the phone is rotated all around. Every time the orientation of the phone is changed, it interrupts the data and freezes the program while the layout changes. How can I lock it in one orientation (landscape or portrait, it doesn't matter)? I assume it has something to do with android:layout in the xml file, but I can't find anything online.

Companies such as RealQuest offer reports as a subscription service, but I'm looking to download the raw data, preferably in XML format (I don't want to parse the output since the presentation could change without notice). Are there any such services available?

    When developing applications how much focus/time do you place on an application’s style vs. functionality. Battleship gray apps drive me insane. On the other hand maximizing a business application’s "style" can tax time and financial resources. Applications need to be appealing to resell or meet basic customer expectations, but defining a healthy medium can be difficult. What would you say are reasonable "standards" for allocating develop time/resources should be dedicated to stylizing a business application?

But I dont want the rest of the application to care that I'm using this or be polluted by anything entity frameowrk specific.     I'm using the sfGuardDoctrine plugin, and I would like to customize the form validation messages. How could I acomplish this? I can't find anything in the documentation. The only way I have found is to copy sfGuardValidatorUser.class into /apps/frontend/lib/validator, but I would like to know if there is some way to just override the error message, not override the entire validator...

    Without writing a custom ant task is there a way to use a timeout on a regular ant target? To give some background info ... we are using the delete task to remove all contents of a given directory. Sometimes this directory is massive with lots of generated folders and files. We wanted to have that task say timeout after 5 minutes. I could not find anything online anywhere ... any ideas?

    Hi.... I've an iPad app that supports all orientation... my problem was on the start up of the application. In case of landScapeRight and landScapeLeft and portrait(top home button) the views shows correctly but when the app start in portrait (bottom home button) the views show in landscape mode... I've implemented the - (void) willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation When I change the apps orientation the views shows correctly.

  • appstore launch request unable to complete

    I am trying to launch an appstore page with either of the calls: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myappname/id999999999?mt=8"]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.itunes.com/apps/myappname"]]; Both of these urls work when I enter them in a browser. However, from both simulator and device, I get a "Your request could not be completed" error dialog right after it appears to try to launch the appstore. Is there something obvious that I'm doing wrong?

    Hi, I'm trying to develop an online application where the user writes some text and the software sings it back to the user. I can currently generate the audio file with the words spoken by the computer using espeak, but I have no idea how to make it sound like a song, how to add rhythm to it. I'm able to change the pitch and tempo using rubberband, but that's as far as I've gotten. Does anyone have a clue how to make this happen?

    Several MS apps support the concept of chords, like "CTRL+X,Y" which means "holding down CTRL, press X, then Y". Is this a bespoke thing they (and other companies) implement, or is it built into any APIs?     I have a online survey running in Silverlight. Out of more than 1000 onetime users, there are three users than cannot open a combobox on the first page. The control seems disabled and don't react on mouseclick. Since it is one-time user, they don't wan't to help me with debugging and I cannot reproduce the problem myself. Any ideas why 1000 users have no problem, and 3 are experiencing all controls like they were disabled?

    I'm currently writing SDK documentation for one of our products, but for obvious reasons I don't want to talk about the essentials of OOP. Does anyone know any good online teaching material that explain (aimed at absolute beginners) concepts such as classes, inheritance, constructors, instances etc.? Preferably urls that are likely to survive for a couple of years to come... It's a DotNET SDK and we're including only VB and C# samples, so C++ or Delphi or Lisp material is not that useful.
