  • Preparing a MySQL INSERT/UPDATE statement with DEFAULT values

    - by Raveren
Quoting MySQL INSERT manual - same goes for UPDATE: Use the keyword DEFAULT to set a column explicitly to its default value. This makes it easier to write INSERT statements that assign values to all but a few columns, because it enables you to avoid writing an incomplete VALUES list that does not include a value for each column in the table. Otherwise, you would have to write out the list of column names corresponding to each value in the VALUES list. So in short if I write INSERT INTO table1 (column1,column2) values ('value1',DEFAULT); A new row with column2 set as its default value - whatever it may be - is inserted. However if I prepare and execute a statement in PHP: $statement = $pdoObject-> prepare("INSERT INTO table1 (column1,column2) values (?,?)"); $statement->execute(array('value1','DEFAULT')); The new row will contain 'DEFAULT' as its text value - if the column is able to store text values. Now I have written an abstraction layer to PDO (I needed it) and to get around this issue am considering to introduce a const DEFAULT_VALUE = "randomstring"; So I could execute statements like this: $statement->execute(array('value1',mysql::DEFAULT_VALUE)); And then in method that does the binding I'd go through values that are sent to be bound and if some are equal to self::DEFAULT_VALUE, act accordingly. I'm pretty sure there's a better way to do this. Has someone else encountered similar situations?

  • Confused over behavior of List.mapi in F#

    - by James Black
I am building some equations in F#, and when working on my polynomial class I found some odd behavior using List.mapi Basically, each polynomial has an array, so 3*x^2 + 5*x + 6 would be [|6, 5, 3|] in the array, so, when adding polynomials, if one array is longer than the other, then I just need to append the extra elements to the result, and that is where I ran into a problem. Later I want to generalize it to not always use a float, but that will be after I get more working. So, the problem is that I expected List.mapi to return a List not individual elements, but, in order to put the lists together I had to put [] around my use of mapi, and I am curious why that is the case. This is more complicated than I expected, I thought I should be able to just tell it to make a new List starting at a certain index, but I can't find any function for that. type Polynomial() = let mutable coefficients:float [] = Array.empty member self.Coefficients with get() = coefficients static member (+) (v1:Polynomial, v2:Polynomial) = let ret = List.map2(fun c p -> c + p) (List.ofArray v1.Coefficients) (List.ofArray v2.Coefficients) let a = List.mapi(fun i x -> x) match v1.Coefficients.Length - v2.Coefficients.Length with | x when x < 0 -> ret :: [((List.ofArray v1.Coefficients) |> a)] | x when x > 0 -> ret :: [((List.ofArray v2.Coefficients) |> a)] | _ -> [ret]

  • Cannot show scene with Cocos2D when using UITabBarController

    - by gw1921
Hi I'm new to Cocos2D but am having serious issues when trying to load a cocos scene in one of the UIViewControllers mixed with other normal UIKit UIViewControllers. My project uses a UITabBarController to manage four view controllers. Three are normal UIKit view controllers while one of them I want to use cocos2D for (to draw some sprites and animate them). The following is what I've done so far. In the applicationDidFinishLaunching method, I initialize cocos2D to use the window and take the first tabbarcontroller view: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { if( ! [CCDirector setDirectorType:CCDirectorTypeDisplayLink] ) { [CCDirector setDirectorType:CCDirectorTypeDefault]; } [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setPixelFormat:kPixelFormatRGBA8888]; [CCTexture2D setDefaultAlphaPixelFormat:kTexture2DPixelFormat_RGBA8888]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setDisplayFPS:YES]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] attachInView: window]; [[[CCDirector sharedDirector] openGLView] addSubview: tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Then in the third UIViewController code (where I want to use cocos2D) I do this (note: the view is being loaded from a NIB file which has a blank UIView and nothing else):\ - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // 'scene' is an autorelease object. CCScene *myScene = [CCScene node]; // 'layer' is an autorelease object. MyLayer *myLayer = [MyLayer node]; // add layer as a child to scene [myScene addChild: myLayer]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] runWithScene: myScene]; } However all I see is a blank white view and nothing else. If I call the following in viewdidLoad: [[CCDirector sharedDirector] attachInView: self.view]; The app crashes complaining that CCDirector is already attached. Please help!

  • ActiveRecord table inheritence using set_table_names

    - by Jinyoung Kim
Hi, I'm using ActiveRecord in Ruby on Rails. I have a table named documents(Document class) and I want to have another table data_documents(DataDocument) class which is effectively the same except for having different table name. In other words, I want two tables with the same behavior except for table name. class DataDocument < Document #set_table_name "data_documents" self.table_name = "data_documents" end My solution was to use class inheritance as above, yet this resulted in inconsistent SQL statement for create operation where there are both 'documents' table and 'data_documents' table. Can you figure out why and how I can make it work? >> DataDocument.create(:did=>"dd") ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'data_documents.did' in 'where clause': SELECT `documents`.id FROM `documents` WHERE (`data_documents`.`did` = BINARY 'dd') LIMIT 1 from /Users/lifidea/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.2/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract_adapter.rb:212:in `log' from /Users/lifidea/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.2/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:320:in `execute' from /Users/lifidea/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.2/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:595:in `select' from /Users/lifidea/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.2/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/database_statements.rb:7:in `select_all_without_query_cache' from /Users/lifidea/.gem/ruby/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.2/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/query_cache.rb:62:in `select_all'

  • C - Complicated pointer declarations - help understanding

    - by Emmel
In my burgeoning new self-education in the C language, I've come across a set of declarations that I do not understand how to read. I'd love for someone to break these down. I'll explain at the bottom where I got these examples from. 1. char (*(*x())[])() "x: function returning pointer to array[] of pointer to function returning char" - huh? 2. char (*(*x[3])())[5] "x: array[3] of pointer to function returning pointer to array[5] of char" - come again? 3. char **argv This I understand. "Pointer to pointer to char." But what I don't understand is -- what's the use case for a pointer to a pointer? Follow-up question: does anyone every use declarations this complex or is this just academic fun on the part of the authors of the examples I got this from? These examples are from section 5.12 of the K&R book. This is the first time I'm genuinely stumped by an explanation, in an otherwise well-written classic. Thanks.

  • How to create an Universal Binary for iTunes Connect Distribution?

    - by balexandre
I created an app that was rejected because Apple say that my App was not showing the correct iPad window and it was showing the same iPhone screen but top left aligned. Running on simulator, I get my App to show exactly what it should, a big iPad View. my app as Apple referees that is showing on device: my app running the simulator (50% zoom only): my code in the Application Delegate is the one I published before - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // The default have the line below, let us comment it //MainViewController *aController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView" bundle:nil]; // Our main controller MainViewController *aController = nil; // Is this OS 3.2.0+ ? #if __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MAX_ALLOWED >= 30200 if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) // It's an iPad, let's set the MainView to our MainView-iPad aController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView-iPad" bundle:nil]; else // This is a 3.2.0+ but not an iPad (for future, when iPhone/iPod Touch runs with same OS than iPad) aController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView" bundle:nil]; #else // It's an iPhone/iPod Touch (OS < 3.2.0) aController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView" bundle:nil]; #endif // Let's continue our default code self.mainViewController = aController; [aController release]; mainViewController.view.frame = [UIScreen mainScreen].applicationFrame; [window addSubview:[mainViewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } on my target info I have iPhone/iPad My question is, how should I build the app? Use Base SDK iPhone Simulator 3.1.3 iPhone Simulator 3.2 my Active Configuration is Distribution and Active Architecture is arm6 Can anyone that already published app into iTunes Connect explain me the settings? P.S. I followed the Developer Guideline on Building and Installing your Development Application that is found on Creating and Downloading Development Provisioning Profiles but does not say anything regarding this, as I did exactly and the app was rejected.

  • Memory leak at Autorelease pool in Iphone sdk

Hi guys, I am getting leak at [pool release]; My code here is: #pragma mark UISearchBarDelegate delegate methods - (void)performSearch:(UISearchBar *)aSearchBar { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; artistName= [aSearchBar.text stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]; if ([artistName length] > 0) { [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES; LyricsAppDelegate* appDelegate = (LyricsAppDelegate*) [ [UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; artistsList=[appDelegate doSearch:artistName ]; [theTableView reloadData]; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO; [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } else { [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } [NSThread exit]; [pool release]; } - (void)searchBarSearchButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)aSearchBar { @try { [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(performSearch:) toTarget:self withObject:aSearchBar]; [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } @catch (NSException * e) { NSLog(@"\n caught an exception"); } @finally { } } Here I am getting leak at [pool release]; in performSearch method. How can I solve this. Anyone's help will be much appreciated. Thank you, Monish.

  • AVAudioPlayer working in Simulator, but not on device

    - by cannyboy
My mp3 playing code is: NSError *error; soundObject = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:audioPathString] error:&error]; if (soundObject == nil) NSLog(@"%@", [error description]); soundObject.delegate = self; soundObject.numberOfLoops = 0; soundObject.volume = 1.0; NSLog(@"about to play"); [soundObject prepareToPlay]; [soundObject play]; NSLog(@"[soundObject play];"); The mp3 used to play fine, and it still does on the simulator. But not on the device. I've recently added some sound recording code (not mine) to the software. It uses AudioQueue stuff which is slightly beyond me. Does that conflict with AVAudioPlayer? Or what could be the problem? I've noticed that as soon as the audiorecording code starts working, I can't adjust the volume on the device anymore, so maybe it blocks the audio playback?. EDIT The solution seems to be to put this in my code. I put it in applicationDidFinishLaunching: [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory: AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayAndRecord error: nil]; UInt32 audioRouteOverride = kAudioSessionOverrideAudioRoute_Speaker; AudioSessionSetProperty (kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideAudioRoute,sizeof (audioRouteOverride),&audioRouteOverride); The first line allows both play and record, whilst the other lines apparently reroute things to make the volume louder. All audio code is voodoo to me.

  • How to set the position of a sprite within a box2d body?

    - by Frank
    Basically I have 2 polygons for my body. When I add a sprite for userData, the position of the texture isn't where I want it to be. What I want to do is adjust the position of the texture within the body. Here's the code sample of where I am setting this: CCSpriteSheet *sheet = (CCSpriteSheet*) [self getChildByTag:kTagSpriteSheet]; CCSprite *pigeonSprite = [CCSprite spriteWithSpriteSheet:sheet rect:CGRectMake(0,0,40,32)]; [sheet addChild:pigeonSprite z:0 tag:kPigeonSprite]; pigeonSprite.position = ccp( p.x, p.y); bodyDef.position.Set(p.x/PTM_RATIO, p.y/PTM_RATIO); bodyDef.userData = sprite; b2Body *body = world->CreateBody(&bodyDef); b2CircleShape dynamicCircle; dynamicCircle.m_radius = .25f; dynamicCircle.m_p.Set(0.0f, 1.0f); // Define the dynamic body fixture. b2FixtureDef circleDef; circleDef.shape = &dynamicCircle; circleDef.density = 1.0f; circleDef.friction = 0.3f; body->CreateFixture(&circleDef); b2Vec2 vertices[3]; vertices[0].Set(-0.5f, 0.0f); vertices[1].Set(0.5f, 0.0f); vertices[2].Set(0.0f, 1.0f); b2PolygonShape triangle; triangle.Set(vertices, 3); b2FixtureDef triangleDef1; triangleDef1.shape = &triangle; triangleDef1.density = 1.0f; triangleDef1.friction = 0.3f; body->CreateFixture(&triangleDef1);

  • Anything speaking against the bitnami.org Ruby/Rails/Redmine Stack?

    - by Pekka
I am looking to set up a Redmine server on a Windows virtual machine on my local workstation. (Background in this related question.) I have zero knowledge of Ruby nor Rails, and while Redmine may be the opportunity to dip into those platforms somewhat, my first goal is to get it running as quickly and easily as possible. For that, I am eyeing the Bitnami Redmine Package. It promises point-and-click install, and a self-contained environment with everything you need. Apart from the learning factor, are there any serious limitations this method implies? Any serious cutdowns in customizability? I will be wanting to customize the template right away, for example, and install plugins. The package looks o.k. to me but before I install it, I was curious to know whether anybody would advise against it and why. Edit: The first impression is great. From 0 to a working Redmine installation in twelve minutes! Wow.

  • convert string to date and write back into NSMutableArray

    - by padatronic
I have a NSMutableArray I get by loading a plist into it. The date field comes in as a string and i want to change it into a nsdate. I can change an nsstring into an nsdate. My array is an array of objects like the one below; { Date = "1/1/2009" Description = "Have you ever looked at a badger and thought i wonder how far you could fire that out of a cannon? Well this talk is for you"; File = "http://www.badgerCannon.org.uk/mp3/070310pm.mp3"; Series = "The Badger planet"; Speaker = "Will Ferell"; Title = "Is it a bird, is it a plane? no its a badger"; } I loop through and pull out the date and convert it from a NSString to a NSDate. I try writing it back in using the code; [[self.MediaDataArray objectAtIndex:i] replaceObjectAtIndex:0 withObject:Date]; but it errors and i am pretty sure it is because i am not putting it back into the array in the same format, ie just as a date not as date = "date". But lets face it i don't really know! Am i barking up the wrong tree? Please help, i have got the coding equivalent of writters block, or alternatively am just being really stupid! thanks in advance

  • Implementing the tree with reference to the root for each leaf

    - by AntonAL
Hi, i implementing a products catalog, that looks, like this: group 1 subgroup 1 subgroup 2 item 1 item 2 ... item n ... subgroup n group 2 subgroup 1 ... subgroup n group 3 ... group n The Models: class CatalogGroup < ActiveRecord::Base has_many: catalog_items has_many :catalog_items_all, :class_name => "CatalogItem", :foreign_key => "catalog_root_group_id" end class CatalogItem < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :catalog_group belongs_to :catalog_root_group, :class_name => "CatalogGroup" end Migrations: class CreateCatalogItems < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :catalog_items do |t| t.integer :catalog_group_id t.integer :catalog_root_group_id t.string :code t.timestamps end end For convenience, i referenced each CatalogItem to it's top-most CatalogGroup and named this association "catalog_root_group". This will give us the simple implementation of search request, like "show me all items in group 1". We will have a deal only with CatalogModel.catalog_root_group The problem is - this association does't work. I always get "catalog_root_group" equals to nil Also, i have tried to overcome the using of reference to root group ("catalog_root_group"), but i cannot construct appropriate search request in ruby ... Do you know, how to do it ?

  • Is this a tableView issue or a CoreData Issue

    - by monotreme
I have a CoreData-driven navigation app and I'm trying to figure out why It's crashing. I've got a hierarchy which is 3 view Controllers deep, all related by coredata relatioships, like this. TableViewA =relationship= TableViewB =relationship= TableViewC I'm honestly a novice at core data and I think my problem lies in the fetched results controller. I have one in TableViewA and another in TableViewB, and no matter how deep I go, the console always cites TableViewB's fetched results controller methods after a crash. Is this the problem? What's happening specifically is if I launch my app and drill down into the hierarchy of one record, let's call it Record1, I can delete sub records to my hearts content. Gone! no problem! But the second I go back to TableViewA and drill down into a different record, let's call that one Record2, and try to delete it's subrecords my app crashes, with the console citing this code from TableViewB as the problem. - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { // The fetch controller is about to start sending change notifications, so prepare the table view for updates. [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } When I go into the debugger, the specific method it always has a problem with is: if (![x.managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } Just a confirmation of my idiocy with CoreData is all I'm looking for I think. Oh and how many ManagedObjectContexts should I have in an app of this type. I've been told I should have separate ones for adding content, which then should re-integrate into the main one. Is this true? Thanks!

  • displaying music current time & duration from AVFoundation

    - by msb
    I have a view-based iphone application that has a single play-pause button that plays an mp3 file. At the time of invoking my doPlayPauseButton() method, I 'd like to show the current time and total duration of this mp3 through the AVAudioPlayer instance I've created, called myAudioPlayer. I have placed two labels at the UI and i'm trying to assign the currentTime and duration properties to these label when the playing begins but my attempts have failed. Here's my play/pause loop, any help would be appreciated: -(IBAction) doPlayPauseButton:(UIButton *)theButton { if(myAudioPlayer.playing) { [myActivityIndicatorView stopAnimating]; myActivityIndicatorView.hidden = YES; //I think I need a myAudioPlayer.currentTime call of some sort for my labels. [myAudioPlayer pause]; [theButton setTitle:@"Play" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [myTimer invalidate]; } else { [myActivityIndicatorView startAnimating]; myActivityIndicatorView.hidden = NO; myTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1.0 target:self selector:@selector(doTimer) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; [myAudioPlayer play]; [theButton setTitle:@"Pause" forState:UIControlStateNormal];

  • Looking for streaming xml pretty printer in C/C++ using expat or libxml2

    - by Mark Zeren
I'm looking for a streaming xml pretty printer for C/C++ that's either self contained or that uses libxml2 or expat. I've searched a bit and not found one. It seems like something that would be generally useful. Am I missing an obvious tool that does this? Background: I have a library that outputs xml without whitespace all on one line. In some cases I'd like to pretty print that output. I'm looking for a BSD-ish licensed C/C++ library or sample code that will take a raw xml byte stream and pretty print it. Here's some pseudo code showing one way that I might use this functionality: void my_write(const char* buf, int len); PrettyPrinter pp(bind(&my_write)); while (...) { // ... get some more xml ... const char* buf = xmlSource.get_buf(); int len = xmlSource.get_buf_len(); int written = pp.write(buf, len); // calls my_write with pretty printed xml // ... error handling, maybe call write again, etc. ... } I'd like to avoid instantiating a DOM representation. I already have dependencies on the expat and libxml2 shared libraries, and I'd rather not add any more shared library dependencies.

  • In the iPad SplitView template, where's the code that specifies which views are to be used in the Sp

    - by Dr Dork
In the iPad Programming Guide, it gives the following code example for specifying the two views (firstVC and secondVC) that will be used in the SplitView... - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { MyFirstViewController* firstVC = [[[MyFirstViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FirstNib" bundle:nil] autorelease]; MySecondViewController* secondVC = [[[MySecondViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SecondNib" bundle:nil] autorelease]; UISplitViewController* splitVC = [[UISplitViewController alloc] init]; splitVC.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:firstVC, secondVC, nil]; [window addSubview:splitVC.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } but when I actually create a new SplitView project in Xcode, I don't see any code that specifies which views should be added to the SplitView. Here's the code from the SplitView template... - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch rootViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; // Add the split view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:splitViewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } Thanks in advance for all your help! I'm going to continue researching this question right now.

  • Custom UITableViewCell changing indexPath While Scrolling ?

    - by Chris
I have a custom UITableViewCell which I created in Interface Builder. I am successfully Dequeuing cells, but as I scroll, the cells appear to begin calling different indexPaths. In this example, I am feeding the current indexPath.section and indexPath.row into the customCellLabel. As I scroll the table up and down, some of the cells will change. The numbers can be all over the place, but the cells are not skipping around visually. If I comment out the if(cell==nil), then the problem goes away. If I use a standard cell, the problem goes away. Ideas why this might be happening? // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell = (UITableViewCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"CalendarEventCell"]; if (cell == nil) { NSLog(@"Creating New Cell !!!!!"); NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"CalendarEventCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = (UITableViewCell *)[nib objectAtIndex:0]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; } // Set up the cell... • Add double tap action (presentModalViewController) to UISCOLLVIEW

    - by R.J.
I have been wrestling this issue for a while now and cannot seem to get the following "touchesEnded" method to execute within a UISCROLLVIEW. I have read on many of the forums that UISCROLLVIEW will take control of all touch events unless it is subclassed, but I cannot seem to get the code right (still new to the SDK). Basically I have a scrollview made uo with several UIIMAGEVIEW's and currenlty have scrolling with paging (much like the photo app). I have been studying the SCROLLING MADDNESS example without success. All I want to do is anywhere in the UISCROLLVIEW have the user double tap to presentModalViewController back to my info page (i.e.) (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSSet *allTouches = [event allTouches]; switch ([allTouches count]) { case 1: {// One finger touch UITouch *touch = [[allTouches allObjects] objectAtIndex:0]; if ([touch tapCount] == 2) {InfoButtonViewController *scroll = [[InfoButtonViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; scroll.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:scroll animated:YES]; [scroll release]; } } } } Any code assistance would be greatly appreciated. The UISCROLLVIEW is implemented as follows (let me know if I need to provide additional details). Thank you in advance... MyViewController.h @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { } @end

  • DRY Authenticated Tasks in Cocoa (with distributed objects)

    - by arbales
I'm kind of surprise/infuriated that the only way for me to run an authenticated task, like perhaps sudo gem install shi*t, is to make a tool with pre-written code. I'm writing a MacRuby application, which doesn't seem to expose the KAuthorization* constants/methods. So.. I learned Cocoa and Objective-C. My application creates a object, serves it and calls the a tool that elevates itself and then performs a selector on a distributed object (in the tool's thread). I hoped that the distributed object's methods would evaluated inside the tool, so I could use delegation to create "privileged" tasks. If this won't work, don't try to save it, I just want a DRY/cocoa solution. AuthHelper.m //AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges of this. AuthResponder* my_responder = [AuthResponder sharedResponder]; // Gets the proxy object (and it's delegate) NSString *selector = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:argv[3]]; NSLog(@"Performing selector: %@", selector); setuid(0); if ([[my_responder delegate] respondsToSelector:NSSelectorFromString(selector)]){ [[my_responder delegate] performSelectorOnMainThread:NSSelectorFromString(selector) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; } RandomController.m - (void)awakeFromNib { helperToolPath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingString:@"/AuthHelper"]; delegatePath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingString:@"/ABExtensions.rb"]; AuthResponder* my_responder = [AuthResponder initAsService]; [my_responder setDelegate:self]; } -(oneway void)install_gems{ NSArray *args = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"gem", @"install", @"sinatra", nil]; [NSTask launchedTaskWithLaunchPath:@"/usr/bin/sudo" arguments:args]; NSLog(@"Ran AuthResponder.delegate.install_gems"); // This prints. } ... other privileges tasks. "sudo gem update --system" for one. I'm guessing the proxy object is performing the selector in it's own thread, but I want the current (privileged thread) to do it so I can use sudo. Can I force the distributed object to evaluate the selector on the tool's thread? How else can I accomplish this dryly/cocoaly?

  • is there a way to show Uitableviewcell selection on limited frame?

    - by Rahul Vyas
    i have a uitableview cell added some labels something like this - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; UIImage* myImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"AccessoryForDealsMain.png"]; UIImageView *MyimageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:myImage]; MyimageView.contentMode=UIViewContentModeScaleToFill; cell.accessoryView=MyimageView; [MyimageView release]; UILabel *BluePatti = [[UILabel alloc] init]; BluePatti.frame=CGRectMake(0,0,4,44); BluePatti.backgroundColor = BLUEPATTI;//[UIColor blueColor]; UILabel *BlackLine = [[UILabel alloc] init]; BlackLine.frame=CGRectMake(3,0,1, 45); BlackLine.backgroundColor = BLACK_LINE; [BluePatti addSubview:BlackLine]; [BlackLine release]; [cell.contentView addSubview:BluePatti]; [BluePatti release]; UILabel *Seperator = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; Seperator.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:234/256.0 green:234/256.0 blue:234/256.0 alpha:1.0]; //[UIColor lightGrayColor]; Seperator.frame = CGRectMake(4,43,316,1); [cell.contentView addSubview:Seperator]; [Seperator release]; } if(indexPath.section==5) { cell.textLabel.text=[self.GenderCellData objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.textColor=CELL_TEXT_COLOR; cell.textLabel.font=CELL_FONT; } else { cell.textLabel.text=@"Cells"; cell.textLabel.font=CELL_FONT; } return cell; } now when i touch cell it shows blue selection above all subviews.How do i change selection frame and colour?

  • pass Validation error to UI element in WPF?

    - by Tony
I am using IDataErrorInfo to validate my data in a form in WPF. I have the validation implemented in my presenter. The actual validation is happening, but the XAML that's supposed to update the UI and set the style isn't happening. Here it is: <Style x:Key="textBoxInError" TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="true"> <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={x:Static RelativeSource.Self}, Path=(Validation.Errors)[0].ErrorContent}"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Red"/> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> The problem is that my binding to Validation.Errors contains no data. How do I get this data from the Presenter class and pass it to this XAML so as to update the UI elements? EDIT: Textbox: <TextBox Style="{StaticResource textBoxInError}" Name="txtAge" Height="23" Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="0" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Center" Width="150"> <TextBox.Text> <Binding Path="StrAge" Mode="TwoWay" ValidatesOnDataErrors="True" UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged"/> </TextBox.Text> The validation occurs, but the style to be applied when data is invalid is not happening.

  • How can I test this SQL Server performance Utility?

    - by Martin Smith
As part of my MSc I need to do a three month project later this year. I have decided to do something which will likely be useful for me in the workplace and spend the time getting to understand SQL Server internals. The deliverable for this project will be a performance advisor looking at a variety of different rules. Some static such as finding redundant indexes, some more dynamic such as using XEvents to find outlying invocations of stored procedure execution times when certain parameters are passed. I am struggling to come up with a good way of testing this though. I can obviously design a "bad" database and a synthetic workload that my tool will pick up issues on but I also need to demonstrate that it has real world utility. Looking at the self tuning database literature it is common to use TPC benchmarks but I've had a look at the TPCC site and it looks very time consuming to implement and not that good a fit to my project's testing needs in any event (I would still be able to "rig" it by the decisions I made on indexing or physical architecture). Plan A would be to find willing beta tester(s) but in the event that isn't possible I will need a fallback plan. The best idea I have come up with so far is to use the various MS sample applications as examples of real world applications. e.g. http://msftdpprodsamples.codeplex.com/ http://www.asp.net/community/projects/ Does anyone have any better suggestions?
