• Problem with Gregorian Calendar hour of day in java

  hi, I'm using a Gregorian Calendar to set a specific date and time to an application using the set function of the Gregorian Calendar. When i use the getTime() method, it gives me the right output however when i try to access the Hour_Of_Day and Minute it gives a wrong number. Calendar time = new GregorianCalendar(); time.set(2010, Calendar.JANUARY, 1, 7, 20,0); hour = time.HOUR_OF_DAY; minute = time.MINUTE; The hour gives an output of 11 and the minute gives an a value of 12. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

• Changing a SUM returned NULL to zero

  I have a Stored Procedure as follows: CREATE PROC [dbo].[Incidents] (@SiteName varchar(200)) AS SELECT ( SELECT SUM(i.Logged) FROM tbl_Sites s INNER JOIN tbl_Incidents i ON s.Location = i.Location WHERE s.Sites = @SiteName AND i.[month] = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm, 0, GetDate()) -1,0) GROUP BY s.Sites ) AS LoggedIncidents 'tbl_Sites contains a list of reported on sites. 'tbl_Incidents containts a generated list of total incidents by site/date (monthly) 'If a site doesnt have any incidents that month it wont be listed. The problem I'm having is that a site doesnt have any Incidents this month and as such i get a NULL value returned for that site when i run this sproc, but i need to have a zero/0 returned to be used within a chart in SSRS. I've tried the using coalesce and isnull to no avail. SELECT COALESCE(SUM(c.Logged,0)) SELECT SUM(ISNULL(c.Logged,0)) Is there a way to get this formatted correctly? Cheers, Lee

• How to make Databinding type safe and support refactoring

  When I wish to bind a control to a property of my object, I have to provide the name of the property as a string. This is not very good because: If the property is removed or renamed, I don’t get a compiler warning. If a rename the property with a refactoring tool, it is likely the data binding will not be updated. I don’t get an error until runtime if the type of the property is wrong, e.g. binding an integer to a date chooser. Is there a design-paten that gets round this, but still has the ease of use of data-binding? (This is a problem in WinForm, Asp.net and WPF and most likely lots of other systems) I have now found "workarounds for nameof() operator in C#: typesafe databinding" that also has a good starting point for a solution.

• Chrome Browser: Cookie lost on refresh

  I am experiencing a strange behaviour of my application in Chrome browser (No problem with other browsers). When I refresh a page, the cookie is being sent properly, but intermittently the browser doesn't seem to pass the cookie on some refreshes.   I have a doubt in accessing some invalid data. How will the OS cause segmentation fault for a scenario like this? Suppose a date segment has some 100 bytes. This will be mapped and a page table entry will be created. But the page size is 4K. Consider the data segment is aligned with this page boundary. So at first consider accessing a valid data within the 100 bytes. So now the page table entry is in TLB. Next if you try to access some invalid data between the 100 and 4K, the entry is there in page table and will it be allowed to access the invalid data??? Thanks, Bala

  Hi I need to segment text using fullstops using PHP/Javascript.The problem is if I use "." to split text then abbreviations , date formatting (12.03.2010 ) or urls as well split-ed , which I need to prevent.There are many such possibilities , I might not be able to imagine. How to recognize that the "." is used as fullstop and nothing else ? When I googled I found about SRX http://www.lisa.org/fileadmin/standards/srx20.html , is any opensource PHP project segment text using these rules ?   Rails is great that it will support timezone overall in the application with Time.zone. I need to be able to support the timezone a user selects for a record. The user will be able to select date, time, and timezone for the record and I would like all calculations to be done with respect to the user selected timezone. My question is what is the best practice to handle user selected timezones. The model is using a time_zone_select and datetime_select for two different attributes timezone and scheduled_at. When the model saves, the scheduled_at attribute gets converted to the locally defined Time.zone. When a user goes back to edit the scheduled_at attribute with the datetime_select the datetime is set to the converted Time.zone timezone and not the timezone attribute. Is there a nice way to handle to the conversion to the user selected timezone?

  I expect this is an easy question. For some reason, I don't have a solution yet. I have an object set from django reversion: version_list. Each object in the set has a user id attached to it. How do I grab the user names that correspond to the user ID's? To try to be clearer, if each object in version_list has a name, date, and user id, how can I join the version_list set with the user table to figure out what user id goes with which name? This is done in the view, or the template?

  Hi People who talk about loggers here never talke about EventLog, I think this is good for windows system. Is it reliable, or I found it dead in some bad morning? Why not logging everything at SQLServer, I am creating E-Commerce website, if SQL server down the website will be down anyway. but I am worry about temporally connection failure, what do u think? Why everyone like files, it can be in great size, too big to handle, or maybe I will create another file when a file is too big, and I can create a file with a date. My first view works fine, but I don't know how to join it to the second table to achieve this result? I didn't make the tables, I just have to work with what I was given. Thanks in advance!

  I have two models, authors and articles: class Author(models.Model): name = models.CharField('name', max_length=100) class Article(models.Model) title = models.CharField('title', max_length=100) pubdate = models.DateTimeField('publication date') authors = models.ManyToManyField(Author) Now I want to select all authors and annotate them with their respective article count. That's a piece of cake with Django's aggregates. Problem is, it should only count the articles that are already published. According to ticket 11305 in the Django ticket tracker, this is not yet possible. I tried to use the CountIf annotation mentioned in that ticket, but it doesn't quote the datetime string and doesn't make all the joins it would need. So, what's the best solution, other than writing custom SQL?

  Hello all, Here's a dumb question which I can't find an answer to: I have a table which contains 20 fields, a few of which are date/time. I am interested in pulling all the fields. I would like to pull the datetime fields using the to_char function but don't want to individually list out all the other fields. Is there an easy way to do this? I tried select *, tochar(dtfield) as dt2 and select tochar(dtfield) as dt2, * and both give errors. Thanks for all your help! JC

I've looked up very similar problems, but none of the responses make any sense to me at all. How would I go about creating this queryset?

  I have created a widget for my Wordpress platform that displays the most popular posts of the week. However, there is an issue with it. It counts the most popular posts from Monday, not the past 7 days. For instance, this means that on Tuesday, it will only include posts from Tuesday and Monday. • Problem with truncation of floating point values in DBSlayer.

  When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect? • PHP mySQL database check

  Hi guys, I am having endless troubles with duplicate entries, so I need to check the database, and if a user has already entered that day, their entry will not be submitted and they will be redirected to a landing page that tells them they have already entered that day, and that they may only enter again tomorrow. The field I would like to check is the id_number field in the database, since each user has a unique id number, so basically, if a user with the same id number submitted on the same date they should be redirected to a landing page, how would I go about doing this? I am still new to a lot of this, so please be forgiving. Thanx in advance.

• Caching view-port based Geo-queries

  I have a web app with a giant Google Map in it. As users pan and zoom around on the map, points are dynamically loaded through AJAX call which include the viewport bounds (NE and SW corner coordinates) and some other assorted parameters. How do I cache these request for points? The problem is that the parameters are highly variable and (worst) not discrete i.e. floats with a lots of decimal places. I'm using ASP.NET-MVC/C#/LINQ2SQL/SQL-Server but the problem is not tied to that platform.
