  • Does this game have a solution

    Hi, I am developing a simple game using Java swing. I want to know whether this particular game has a solution in the following scenario. If I am convinced that theoretically a solution cannot be arrived at this point, I will throw a notification to the user. 3x3 4x4 The objective of this game is to fill numbers from 1 to 8 (or 1 to 15) using the one space available to push the numbers to that empty space. Every time I end up with the combination shown above. I just want to convince myself that there is no way to attain the proper solution from the above scenario. Please help.     I have a php variable that comes from a form that needs tidying up. I hope you can help. The variable contains a list of items (possibly two or three word items with a space in between words). I want to convert it to a comma separated list with no superfluous white space. I want the divisions to fall only at commas, semi-colons or new-lines. Blank cannot be an item. Here's a comprehensive example (with a deliberately messy input): Variable In: "dog, cat ,car,tea pot,, ,,, ;;(++NEW LINE++)fly, cake" Variable Out "dog,cat,car,tea pot,fly,cake" Can anyone help?

    My application is already working it can detect the xml file and prompt the content of the xml file but sometimes it will prompt "Root element is missing", and sometimes also it is okay but when I open the xml file, it is ok, it has contents on it. How to solve this issue.     HI, I have the following configuration: Server : windows 2003 server (32 bit) java version: 1.5_0_22 I get the following error when executing from command line ( my code is based off eclipse wihch gives the same error) java -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Xmx512m Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. The server has over 20GB physical memory with over 19 GB free right now. It does not give an error upto -Xmx486m I have read other articles about contiguous memory space. There is hardly anything running on this server. Can I validae this in any way? Thanks

    I've created a link in Sharepoint using the Content Editor Web Part. My link uses html to open up an email with the fields to, cc, subject, and body filled out. However, in the cc section I need a number sign (#) for a mailbox. When I use the html code & #35;(minus the space) my entire code crumbles. Everything starting at the "&" disappears. However, just for kicks I tried & pound;(minus the space) and the code works for a european pound sign. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions?

    So i've got a 1.6 emulator running. I have a receiver with action power connected and disconnected filters. when i connect to the emulator through telnet and issue the power ac on or power ac off command, logcat shows: 01-11 21:33:01.096: ERROR/BatteryService(67): Could not open '/sys/class/power_supply/usb/online' 01-11 21:33:01.104: ERROR/BatteryService(67): Could not open '/sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_vol' 01-11 21:33:01.104: ERROR/BatteryService(67): Could not open '/sys/class/power_supply/battery/batt_temp' and my receiver does not get activated. It was working just fine yesterday and now it does not. I tried reinstalling the AVD, and also deleted and reinstalled the SDK from the SDK manager. Works fine in my 2.2 emulator. Any ideas?

  • What is the effect on record size of reordering columns in PostgreSQL?

    Since Postgres can only add columns at the end of tables, I end up re-ordering by adding new columns at the end of the table, setting them equal to existing columns, and then dropping the original columns. So, what does PostgreSQL do with the memory that's freed by dropped columns? Does it automatically re-use the memory, so a single record consumes the same amount of space as it did before? But that would require a re-write of the whole table, so to avoid that, does it just keep a bunch of blank space around in each record? Thanks! ~S

    I have a long string of comments that I'd like to split into multiple lines. It's currently displayed as <%= Html.Encode(item.important_notes) %> I've played with using .Substring to split it, but can't figure out how to prevent it from splitting in the middle of a word. Instead of characters 1-100 on line 1 and 101-200 on line 2, I'd like to do something like character 1 through the last space before character 100 on line one. That character through the last space before the next 100 characters on line 2, etc. What is the best way to do this? EDIT: using ASP.NET-MVC

    I am trying to use textwrap to format an import file that is quite particular in how it is formatted. Basically, it is as follows (line length shortened for simplicity): abcdef <- Ok line abcdef ghijk <- Note leading space to indicate wrapped line lm Now, I have got code to work as follows: wrapper = TextWrapper(width=80, subsequent_indent=' ', break_long_words=True, break_on_hyphens=False) for l in lines: wrapline=wrapper.wrap(l) This works nearly perfectly, however, the text wrapping code doesn't do a hard break at the 80 character mark, it tries to be smart and break on a space (at approx 20 chars in). I have got round this by replacing all spaces in the string list with a unique character (#), wrapping them and then removing the character, but surely there must be a cleaner way? N.B Any possible answers need to work on Python 2.4 - sorry!

  • How to map to Windows Server shares in Linux (Ubuntu) easily?

    I know how to get connected to a Windows share easy enough, and I've read how to change the fstab file to get it to mount at boot. The real question here is...can I create a few shortcuts on a common user desktop so that regardless of who logs into Ubuntu machine they can open that shortcut and it will open the Windows share? I would also need to allow AD credentials during login, so a link to that will help as well, but I'm sure I can search google for that part.

  • Window scrolling up when jquery dialog opens up

    I am trying to open a modal jquery dialog using jquery 1.4 and jquery-ui-1.8rc3.custom.js The dialog opens up with no issues, in all browsers, but in IE 7 and 6, after the dialog opens up, the window scrolls itself to the buttom... I tried scrolling the window up back to the modal position but is very inconsistent. was using the following line of code after opening up the modal window.scrollTo($('selector').dialog('option', 'position')[0],$('selector').dialog('option', 'position')[1]); One weird thing I am noticing is that after I open the modal, the page becomes huge... as if some extra things adds up on the bottom .... and it eventually scrolls to the bottom.
