• Good experiences with bulk rate SMS providers?

  We're a pretty popular service, our users are currently sending 100000+ SMS messages (projected 180k this month, and continuing to grow) per month. We're currently using a primary domestic provider that doesn't provide bulk rates and doesn't provide short code access. We're using a few backup providers as well for max redundancy, but aren't thrilled by 'em. We're ideally looking for a service that provides good bulk rates/incentives, good uptime/redundancy/reputation, easy API-integration (including respectable error codes!) ;). Right now, we're looking primarily for a domestic US SMS solution, but aren't averse to using the same provider for both International & US. For those of you using bulk SMS right now - what are your recommendations, experiences, etc. in the bulk SMS domain? It sounds like I'm looking for a golden unicorn here, I know, but any data/recommendations/warnings you've got are helpful!

• Deploy multiple instances of an EAR (representing versions) to Glassfish

  I basically want to be able to deploy multiple versions of the same EAR file to the same server (Glassfish instance?) , and have a unique path to each version separating them. From my reading on this it appears that multiple EARs deploy to the root of the web server namespace so that they can coexist if they do not have colliding context-root's of WAR's. In my case I'd rather have that instead of everything going under "/", I'd like to be able to brand a given EAR-file build to ALWAYS deploy under a given path like "/foo-20100319" or "/foo-CUSTOMER-20010101". This can easily be done with a single WAR file just by renaming it. I do not need or want them to disturb each other. It is my understanding that this remapping is outside the scope of the application.xml file, so I found that http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-7693/beayr?a=view says that I can specify web-uri and context-root, but I am not certain that what I wish to do, can be specified with these in Glassfish. How should I approach this? I have full control over the build process. (I have found http://stackoverflow.com/questions/877390/deploying-multiple-java-web-apps-to-glassfish-in-one-go but I am not certain how to apply this to what I need).

• What resolution can the eeePC 1001HA/1101HA handle with an external monitor plugged in?

  I would like to buy a new Eee PC 1001HA or 1101HA. I know the max display resolution is: 1024x600 for eeePC 1001 1366x768 for eeePC 1101 But what's the maximum resolution of the graphic board when connecting these two computers to an external LCD monitor? Let's say the external monitor supports a full HD resolution of 1920x1080. Are these eeePC graphic boards able to go up to such resolution? It's really incredible to me how such a useful piece of information is missing everywhere on every ASUS website. EeePCs are very well suited to be connected to external monitor, so I can't believe how difficult is to find out this information. I downloaded the manual, but it's not in there either. So I'm hoping somone has got one and knows the answer.

• Problems with zend-tool reporting that providers are not valid

  I have recently setup XAMPP 1.7.3 and ZendFramework 1.10.4 on a new computer and many of the commands that I normally use now fail. Here are the steps I used to setup and test ZF. First I added the ZF library folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\library) to the include path in php.ini. Then I added the ZF bin folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\bin) to my Path system variable. To test that everything is configured correctly I ran the command "zf show version" from the command line. The result is "Zend Framework Version: 1.9.6". Immediately something appears to be wrong. The file that is downloaded is "ZendFramework-1.10.4.zip" and the reported version is 1.9.6. I have re-downloaded the latest version (1.10.4) and removed old copy. Still the incorrect version number problem persisted. Having done some research there is a bug in the ZF knowledgebase that version 1.10.3 reports a wrong version number. So that may explain the version number problem. Moving forward I tried to run some zf-tool commands and certain commands reports that the action or provider is not valid. • x11vnc is slow, but using only 10% of available bandwidth

  I am using x11vnc over 15Mbit/s network with 20ms latency. When the screen is changing a lot x11vnc is slow - for example when I switch a tab in a browser, it takes almost two seconds until the view is fully redrawn. The strange thing is that max connection speed of x11vnc is even during slow redrawing only about 10% of the available bandwidth. Why is x11vnc not using available bandwidth to speed the redrawing up? For example scp is using 100% of available bandwidth without problems. How can I identify what is the bottleneck for x11vnc on my system? So far I think: 10% network usage = network is not a bottleneck fb read rate: 601 MB/sec = reading fb is not a bottleneck Any ideas how can I further profile x11vnc and find out what is causing a slowdown? For example is there any switch for x11vnc to show how much data it is handling and how long it takes to grab a screen, process and compress it and send it over the network?

• Ubuntu VM Guest - Samba Service Not Accessible from VM Host via Hostname

  I have a Windows 7 Workstation with a Ubuntu 10.10 VM running in Virtual Box 3.2.12 r68302. I recently updated Samba and winbind, and since the update, I am unable to access the machine via it's hostname (\mystique) from the VM Host. I can access it by the "Host-only" IP (\192.168.56.101) and the DHCP Assigned IP address (\10.1.1.20) and I can connect to the webserver on the machine via it's hostname (http://mystique/). As stated, accessing this machine via it's hostname worked fine prior to the update, but has since stopped working. I have added the hostname to the smb.conf for the netbios name, to no avail. • Windows 2008 server hosting in Europe

  Hi, I'm searching for a Windows 2008 server in Europe, preferably in Germany or UK or anything with good routing to Denmark (as its where the primary traffic will be generated from). The server will be used as web server (asp.net mvc, php), mail server and database server. We are running a few sites with around 200 concurrent users, which isn't much, but we intend to expand in the near future and the server should be easy to scale in form of adding more RAM and HDD space - if its possible. I think a virtual server may be the best choice - hyper-v or virtuozzo? - considering cost vs specs - but i'm open to suggestions. The max budget is in the range of $1000-1200/year. You guys have any suggestions? Let me know if you need further info.

• MX Record Propagation

  How long does it take a change in MX records to propagate? Is the MX record TTL the max time it will take or do we also need to wait for all DNS records to propagate? We are changing our mail server from Exchange 2003 to Exchange Online. Our current MX records (at Network Solutions) have a 1 & 2 hour TTL (primary and backup MX respectively). When we change the MX records to point to Exchange Online should all MX records worldwide be updated within 2-4 hours or should we assume the traditional 48 hours for DNS to propagate? I assume that once all MX records propagate that all new incoming email will be directed to the new server.

• How can I track down what part of pfsense is blocking website access?

  I've got a PFSense firewall/gateway on our network. Everything works great except for the fact that I cannot access one specific website. Pfsense is running the following packages Country Block LightSquid nmap notes squid squidGuard Strikeback I can access every single website I've ever tried aside from one that we need for business use (http://bridalnetwork.ca) here's the traceroute frodo:~ chase$ traceroute bridalnetwork.ca traceroute to bridalnetwork.ca (192.197.103.73), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 rohan (192.168.5.1) 6.618 ms 1.662 ms 9.207 ms 2 * * * 3 * * rohan (192.168.5.1) 7.225 ms !H 4 rohan (192.168.5.1) 5.314 ms !H 5.701 ms !H 7.573 ms !H frodo:~ chase$ How can I figure out what the reason behind the blockage is? note: this has been tested on every computer on the network with the same results. ps: the pfsense box is 'rohan' (192.168.5.1) Here's what I get with Squid enabled and here's what I get with Squid disabled

  I've been following this guide which uses this default.vcl. However, when starting Varnish I get the following error: * Starting HTTP accelerator [fail] storage_malloc: max size 1024 MB. • Jersey / ServletContext and resource loading on startup.

  Hello, I'm kind of new in web development with Java. I am developing a web service and I've chosen REST / Jersey for it. I want to init some stuff on startup of the service and to keep them all along the life of the service. First question : Is the constructor of the Jersey Servlet a good place to do that ? Basically, what I want to do is to load a config.ini file located in my WEB-INF directory. Following this help, I understand I need a ServletContext to load my file as a resource. However, it is not clear to me how to get this ServletContext in a Jersey Servlet, as it is not really an instance of a servlet, but rather a POJO with some annotations. I wanted to try this tip, but the attribute "context" is null in the constructor. I think that Jersey might populate it after the constructor. Right ? So how is the right way to do this ? • AVAudioPlayer making noise when playing multiple sounds at the same time

  I am having an issue where AVAudioPlayer is introducing noise into playback ONLY when I play multiple sound files at the same time. If I play them each individually, they all sound perfect. But, if I play sound clip B while sound clip A is still playing, the speakers start crackling like there is noise. I have tried both m4a files AND caf files and both make the same noise, so it has to be something with how I am implementing this method or a quirk with AVAudioPlayer. They forwarded me an email from another company complaining about something to do with a "TCP sweep of port 22". • Sustaining Dual Channel among many RAM modules

  I'd like to know what are the factors that need to be set in order to sustain the Dual Channel mode. In a mobo with 4 DDR3 slots: Do I have to put pair of chips? Eg: If I put 3 identical chips only, will I have Dual channel or not? If I put 4 Ram chips that aren't from of same ventor/model, will I have the same latency among them (the highest of all)? Also, will I sustain Dual Channel mode? If one Ram has max frequency of 1033 and the other 3 chips are of 1300, will I have 1033Mhz for all chips and Dual Channel mode on? What if I put 2x4Gb and 2x8Gb chips (latency, Dual Channel)? Can I put 4Gb chips in slots 1 and 3 and 8Gb in slots 2 and 4 and still have dual channel mode enabled? (Some of the questions might sound silly but their answers aren't that clear to me) (Also, assume that there aren't any bottlenecks because of other parts on the system)

• Auto-Attach EBS-volume to a New Spot Instance?

  I am experimenting with EC2 spot instances, and am needing some data to be retained between terminations. Now as I understand it, when the current price goes above my max. bid, it will be automatically terminated. I assume any init scripts I have will be run on shutdown so I can push data off to the EBS before unmounting. My question is, how can I automatically mount the same EBS volume on the new spot instance once the price goes down, since it won't have any of my init scripts that I would've loaded onto the root volume the first time? Do I have to create a custom AMI, or is there some other way to achieve this?

But what happen when motherboard for a desktop that supports( and had install) more RAM than the procesor can handle?(aka:procesor Max Memory Size). Is there any advantage to have a MB that hold a bigger RAM capacity than the CPU? If so, how can this be translate using in a program like Adobe After Effects, RAM preview? thanks

• Draw a column graph with no space between columns

  I am using the WPF toolkit, and am trying to render a graph that looks like a histogram. In particular, I want each column to be right up against each other column. There should be no gaps between columns. There are a number of components that you apply when creating a column graph. (See example XAML below). • Passing char * into fopen with C.

  Hey there, I'm writing a program that passes data from a file into an array, but I'm having trouble with fopen (). It seems to work fine when I hardcode the file path into the parameters (eg fopen ("data/1.dat", "r");) but when I pass it as a pointer, it returns NULL. • Unusual request URL in ASP.NET health monitoring event

  I’m seeing a rather strange occurrence in the request information section of an ASP.NET health monitoring email I hope someone can shed some light on. This is a publicly facing website which runs on infrastructure at an Indian hosting provider. Health monitoring is notifying us of server errors via automated email but every now and then the requested URL appears as a totally different website. For example: Request information: Request URL: http://www.baidu.com/Default.aspx Request path: /Default.aspx User host address: 221.13.128.175 User: Is authenticated: False Authentication Type: Thread account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE Obviously the site in question is not Baidu and obviously this attribute is not the referrer either; the “Request URL” value is the path which has generated the error. The IP address is located in Beijing (coincidental given the Baidu address?) and in this instance it looks like the SQL server backend was not accessible (I haven't included the entire error message for security's sake). What would cause the request URL attribute to be arbitrarily changed to that of another site? I’ve never seen this occur in a health monitoring event before. Thanks!

  I am writing a webservice, that when called should build a C# project. I'm using the framework 2 reference, Microsoft.Buld.Engine and Microsoft.Build.Framework. If you look under the '<Import>' section .csproj file, by default it has: <Import Project="$(MSBuildToolsPath)\Microsoft.CSharp.targets" /> which I then changed to: <Import Project="$(MSBuildBinPath)\Microsoft.CSharp.targets" /> My code to build the csproj is: Engine buildEngine = new Engine(Path.Combine(Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("SystemRoot"), @"Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727")); FileLogger logger = new FileLogger(); logger.Parameters = @"logfile=c:\temp\build.log"; buildEngine.RegisterLogger(logger); bool success = buildEngine.BuildProjectFile([Path_Of_Directory]+ "ProjectName.csproj"); buildEngine.UnregisterAllLoggers(); The success variable returns a false because the build faild. I then check the build.log file and this is the error I recieve: *Build started 3/17/2010 11:16:56 AM. ______________________________ Project "[Path_Of_Directory]\ProjectName.csproj" (default targets): Target GetFrameworkPaths: Could not locate the .NET Framework SDK. The task is looking for the path to the .NET Framework SDK at the location specified in the SDKInstallRootv2.0 value of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework. You may be able to solve the problem by doing one of the following: 1.) Install the .NET Framework SDK. 2.) Manually set the above registry key to the correct location. • tomato firmware unstable when I am connected to Chromecast

  I have an Asus RT-N12D1, and I installed the tomato firmware by shibby ( version tomato-K26-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-112-Max.trx). However I found that the connection can be really unstable. Whenever I stream youtube videos on TV via Chromecast ( I tried both the cast from iPad and Win7, both can reproduce the problem), the router will frequently restart itself, leading to a loss of connection and subsequent reconnection. I want to get this problem fixed, but I don't know how. Is there anyway where I can troubleshoot what is the real problem, or is there anyway I can collect enough log information so that I can then present to the original developer for a fix ( maybe)?

I found some may example to boot from pxe using TFTP server, and here is an example: default xenserver-auto label xenserver-auto kernel mboot.c32 append xenserver/xen.gz dom0_max_vcpus=1-2 dom0_mem=752M,max:752M com1=115200,8n1 console=com1,vga --- xenserver/vmlinuz xencons=hvc console=hvc0 console=tty0 answerfile=http://[pxehost]/answerfile.xml remotelog=[SYSLOG] install --- xenserver/install.img The problem is that ipxe uses different syntax, I could not figure out how to convert this configuration to work on ipxe. Here is my ipxe file so far: #!ipxe echo "XEN Server is booting up" initrd http://server-ip/pxe/xen/boot/xen.gz kernel http://server-ip/pxe/xen/boot/pxelinux/mboot.c32 boot Can any one supply the correct configuration?
