• kvm memory changes via virsh not propagating to vm

  Hi I just started using kvm on rhel6 and after creating a vm I tried to increase the memory but the changes I amde in the xml file do not propogate to vm, even after bouncing vm and restarting libvert? • Mercurial Remote Subrepos

  I'm trying to set up my Mercurial repository system to work with multiple subrepos. I've basically followed these instructions to set up the client repo with Mercurial client v1.5 and I'm using HgWebDir to host my multiple projects. I have an HgWebDir with the following structure: http://myserver/hg fooproj mylib where mylib is some collection of common template library to be consumed by fooproj. The structure of fooproj looks like this: fooproj doc/ src/ .hgignore .hgsub .hgsubstate And .hgsub looks like: src/mylib = http://myserver/hg/mylib This should work, per my interpretation of the documentation: The first 'nested' is the path in our working dir, and the second is a URL or path to pull from. So, let's say I pull down fooproj to my home folder with: ~$ hg clone http://myserver/hg/fooproj foo Which pulls down the directory structure properly and adds the folder ~/foo/src/mylib which is a local Mercurial repository. This is where the problems begin: the mylib folder is empty aside from the items in .hg. With 2 seconds of investigation, one can see the src/mylib/.hg/hgrc is: [paths] default = http://myserver/hg/fooproj/src/mylib which is completely wrong (attempting a pull of that repo will give a 404 because, well, that URL doesn't make any sense). Logically, the default value should be what I specified in .hgsub or it would get the files from the repository in some way. None of the Mercurial commands return error codes (aside from a pull from within src/mylib), so it clearly believes that it is behaving properly (and just might be), although this does not seem logical at all. What am I doing wrong?

I followed these steps: Made the model class : Person with one property for now - @property (readwrite, assign) int salary; In the application delegate class I initialized a mutable array : personArray with certain objects like this: Person *person1 = [[Person alloc] init]; person1.salary = 5000; Person *person2 = [[Person alloc] init]; person2.salary = 15000; Person *person3 = [[Person alloc] init]; person3.salary = 7000; Person *person4 = [[Person alloc] init]; person4.salary = 9000; Person *person5 = [[Person alloc] init]; person5.salary = 11000; personArray= [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:person1, person2, person3, person4, person5,nil]; In IB I dropped a NSArrayController object, set its mode as Class - Person, added key salary in attribute pane. Then in bindings pane, binded contents array to ApplicationDelegate class with model key path set to self.personArray. Dropped a NSTextField on window. Binded its value to ArrayController object. Assigned controller key as - arrangedObjects. Assigned Model key path to @avg.salary When I executed the application I found no value being displayed in the text field. • URL Encoding using C#

  I have an application which I've developed for a friend. It sends a POST request to the VB forum software and logs someone in (with out setting cookies or anything). Once the user is logged in I create a variable that creates a path on their local machine. c:\tempfolder\date\username The problem is that some usernames are throwing "Illegal chars" exception. For example if my username was mas|fenix it would throw an exception.. Path.Combine( _ Environment.GetFolderPath(System.Environment.SpecialFolder.CommonApplicationData), _ DateTime.Now.ToString("ddMMyyhhmm") + "-" + form1.username) I don't want to remove it from the string, but a folder with their username is created through FTP on a server. And this leads to my second question. If I am creating a folder on the server can I leave the "illegal chars" in? I only ask this because the server is Linux based, and I am not sure if Linux accepts it or not.. EDIT: It seems that URL encode is NOT what I want.. Here's what I want to do: old username = mas|fenix new username = mas%xxfenix Where %xx is the ASCII value or any other value that would easily identify the character.

• Nginx + PHP-FPM executes script, but returns 404

  I am using Nginx + PHP-FPM to run a Wordpress based site. I have a URL that should return dynamically generated JSON data for use with the DataTables jQuery plugin. The data is returned properly, but with a return code of 404. I think this is a Nginx config issue, but I haven't been able to figure out why. The script 'getTable.php' works properly on the production version of the site which is currently using Apache. Anyone know how I can get this to work on Nginx?   I have a classic ASP page - written in JScript - that's using Scripting.FileSystemObject to save files to a network share - and it's not working. ("Permission denied") The ASP page is running under IIS using Windows authentication, with impersonation enabled. If I run the following block of code locally via CScript.exe: var objNet = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network"); WScript.Echo(objNet.ComputerName); WScript.Echo(objNet.UserName); WScript.Echo(objNet.UserDomain); var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); var path = "\\\\myserver\\my_share\\some_path"; if (fso.FolderExists(path)) { WScript.Echo("Yes"); } else { WScript.Echo("No"); } I get the (expected) output: MY_COMPUTER dylan.beattie MYDOMAIN Yes If I run the same code as part of a .ASP page, substituting Response.Write for WScript.Echo I get this output: MY_COMPUTER dylan.beattie MYDOMAIN No Now - my understanding is that the WScript.Network object will retrieve the current security credentials of the thread that's actually running the code. If this is correct - then why is the same user, on the same domain, getting different results from CScript.exe vs ASP? If my ASP code is running as dylan.beattie, then why can't I see the network share? And if it's not running as dylan.beattie, why does WScript.Network think it is?

• Spaces and backslashes in Visual Studio build events

  I have an application that is supposed to aid my project in terms of pre- and post-build event handling. I'm using ndesk.options for command line argument parsing. Which gave me weird results when my project path contains spaces. I thought this was the fault of ndesk.options but I guess my own application is to blame. I call my application as a post-built event like so: build.exe --in="$(ProjectDir)" --out="c:\out\" A simple foreach over args[] displays the following: --in=c:\my project" --out=c:\out" What happened is that the last " in each parameter was treated as if it was escaped. Thus the trailing backslash was removed. And the whole thing is treated as a single argument. Now I thought I was being smart by simply escaping the first " as well, like so: build.exe --in=\"$(ProjectDir)" --out=\"c:\out\" In that case the resulting args[] look like this: --path="c:\my project" --out="c:\out" The trailing backslash in the parameters is still swallowed and the first parameter is now split up. Passing this args[] to ndesk.options will then yield wrong results. How should the right command line look so that the correct elements end up in the correct args[] slots? Alternatively, how is one supposed to parse command line arguments like these with or without ndesk.options? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance

• One Model to Rule Them All - VS2010 UML, ADO.NET Entity Data Model, and T4

  I worked on a fairly large project a while back where we modeled the classes in Enterprise Architect and generated the (partial) POCO classes (complete with model-driven business rule validations), persistence (NHibernate mapping file) and DDL. Based on certain model attributes we could flag alternate generation strategies or indicate that a particular portion would be entirely hand-coded. There was a good deal of initial investment, but it paid large dividends over the lifetime of a 15 developer, 3 year project. I'm investigating doing something similar with the current Microsoft technology stack. The place I'm stuck is that class modeling is done with the VS 2010 UML tools, but logical data modeling is done with Entity Data Modeler. Is it a reasonable path to use VS 2010 UML as the "single source of truth" and code generate the edmx files based on the class model? That's the inverse of the common path to create the entity model and use a POCO generator to generate classes. However, a good class model can be used to generate much more than just the properties so I tend to view it as a better choice than the entity model.

• Windows 7 Standy/Hibernate Freeze/Lockup

  I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on a MSI U100 Netbook which often experiences a lockup or freeze whilst hibernating or shutting down. I have a friend with an Asus netbook running Windows 7 who has experienced the same issue. This happens to me perhaps 1-2 times a week, and is frustrating as hell because it will just sit there running flat out (the fan goes to max after a while) until the battery dies if I don't notice it first. Just wondering if anyone has had any similar issues or might be able to point me in the right direction. The freeze occurs when the screen has faded to black. The HDD light flickers for a few moments then just sticks on solid. I haven't been able to isolate any apps which may be causing this either. It will be fine one standby, and lock up the next with no new apps open. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers, Kyle

  I have a home built NAS, and I need to slightly reconfigure some of my drive usage. I have an mdadm RAID1 composed of two 3TB drives. Each drive has one ext3 partition that uses the entire drive. I need to shrink the ext3 partition on both drives, and add a second 8GB or so ext3 partition to one, and swap partition of equal size to the other. I think I have the steps figured out, but wanted some confirmation. Resize the mdadm RAID resize2fs /dev/md0 [size] where size is a little larger than the currently used space on the drive Remove one of the drives from the RAID mdadm /dev/md0 --fail /dev/sda1 Resize the removed drive with parted Add the new partition to the drive with parted Restore the drive to the RAID mdadm -a /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 Repeat 2-5 for the other device Resize the RAID to use the full partition mdadm --grow /dev/md0 -z max Is there anything I've missed, or haven't considered?

• How should I host a site that could potentially get a short spike in traffic of 1000%+

  This is a purely theoretical question, but what if I had a site that would normally only get a couple thousand hits a day, but for a few days each month that could shoot to several hundred thousand or even several million hits over the period of 1-3 days. The site would be pretty bare-bones (as in, 2-3 total pages with 1-2 max MySQL queries on each page and some PHP), so bandwidth wouldn't be the issue, but sheer volume taking down the site would be the main concern. Cloud hosting seems like the best way to go, but would something like Amazon EC2, MediaTemple, or something else be the right choice in this case?

I've tried to simplify what I'm doing by using just forename and surname and just 3 records, 2 for 1 person and 1 for another. In reality though there are more than 300,000 records. Example of results with qs.Id = 1. QuestionSetId Forename Surname ------------------------------------------------------- 1 Bob Jones Example of results with qs.Id IN (1, 2, 3). QuestionSetId Forename Surname ------------------------------------------------------- 3 Bob,Bob,Frank Jones,Jones,Smith What I would like to see for qs.Id IN (1, 2, 3). QuestionSetId Forename Surname ------------------------------------------------------- 1 Bob Jones 2 Bob Jones 3 Frank Smith So how can I make the 2nd example return a separate row for each set of name and address information? I realise the current way the data is stored is "questionable" but I cannot change the way the data is stored. I can get sets of individual answers but not sure how to combine the others.   I'm using munin to monitor my server. I've been able to write plugins for it, but only if the graph type is GAUGE. When I try COUNTER or DERIVE, no data is logged or graphed. If I change DERIVE to GAUGE, it works as expected. munin-run bandwidth2 outputs the contents of /var/log/zen.log I've been all over the (sparse) docs for munin plugins, and can't find my mistake. Modifying an existing plugin didn't work for me either.
