• Drupal Adding Span inside A tags in Nice Menus

  I am trying to add drop down menus to a drupal theme which uses text sliding door CSS rounding. The current version uses a primary links injection of the span into the a tags, which works fine. But doesn't support drop down menus. I have tried every angle I could find to edit the drupal function menu_item_link which is used by nice menus to build the links. E.g. I looked at the drupal forum for two days and no joy. • iPhone dev - viewDidUnload subviews

  I'm having a hard time undestand a couple of the methods in UIViewController, but first I'll say what I think they are meant for (ignoring interface builder because I'm not using it): -init: initialize non view-related stuff that won't need to be released in low memory situations (i.e. not objects or objects that can't be recreated easily). -loadView: create the view set the [self view] property. -viewDidLoad: Create all the other view elements -viewDidUnload: Release objects created in -viewDidLoad. didReceiveMemoryWarning: Low-memory situation, release unnecessary things such as cached data, if this view doesn't have a superview then the [super didReceiveMemoryWarning] will go on to release (unload) the view and call -viewDidUnload. -dealloc: release everything -viewWillAppear:, -viewDidAppear:, -viewWillDisappear:, -viewDidDisappear: self-explanatory, not necessary unless you want to respond (do something) to those events. I'm not sure about a couple of things. First, the Apple docs say that when -viewDidUnload is called, the view has already been released and set to nil. Will -loadView get called again to recreate the view later on? There's a few things I created in -viewDidLoad that I didn't make a ivar/property for because there is no need and it will be retained by the view (because they are subviews of it). So when the view is released, it will release those too, right? When the view is released, will it release all its subviews? Because all the objects I created in -viewDidLoad are subviews of [self view]. So if they already get released why release them again in -viewDidUnload? I can understand data that is necessary when the view is visible being loaded and unloaded in these methods, but like I asked, why release the subviews if they already get released? EDIT: After reading other questions, I think I might have got it (my 2nd question). In the situation where I just use a local variable, alloc it, make it a subview and release, it will have a retain count of 1 (from adding it as a subview), so when the view is released it is too. Now for the view elements with ivars pointing to them, I wasn't using properties because no outside class would need to access them. But now I think that that's wrong, because in this situation: // MyViewController.h @interface MyViewController : UIViewController { UILabel *myLabel; } // MyViewController.m . . . - (void)viewDidLoad { myLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 40, 10)]; [myLabel setText:@"Foobar"]; [[self view] addSubview:myLabel]; } - (void)viewDidUnload [ // equivalent of [self setMyLabel:nil]; without properties [myLabel release]; myLabel = nil; } In that situation, the label will be sent the -release message after it was deallocated because the ivar didn't retain it (because it wasn't a property). But with a property the retain count would be two: the view retaining it and the property. So then in -viewDidUnload it will get deallocated. So its best to just always use properties for these things, am I right? Or not? EDIT: I read somewhere that -viewDidLoad and -viewDidUnload are only for use with Interface Builder, that if you are doing everything programmatically you shouldn't use them. Is that right? Why?

  We have a third party application that accept calls using an XML RPC mechanism for calling stored procs. We send a ZIP-compressed dataset containing multiple tables with a bunch of update/delete/insert using this mechanism. On the other end, a CLR sproc decompress the data and gets the dataset.   I'm trying to expand my sons interest from Warcraft 3 programming into C++ to broaden his horizons to a degree. We are planning on porting a little game that he wrote. The context goes something like this. There are Ships and Missiles, for which Ships will use Missiles and interact with them A Container exists which will hold 'a list' of ships. A Container exists which will hold 'a list' of planets. One can apply a function over all elements in the Container (for_each) Ships and Missles can be created/destroyed at any time New objects automatically insert themselves into the proper container. One must have a ship, in order to access the list of ships. One must have a missile in order to be able to access the list of missiles. That feels awkward. My question boils down to "Is there a better way to do this?" Automatic object container creation Automatic object insertion Container access without requiring an object in the list to access it. • How do I make a simple image-based button with visual states in Silverlight 3?

  At my previous company, we created our RIAs using Flex with graphical assets created in Flash. In Flash, you could simply lay out your graphics for different states, i.e. rollover, disabled. Now, I'm working on a Silverlight 3 project. I've been given a bunch of images that need to serve as the graphics for buttons that have a rollover, pressed, and normal state. I cannot figure out how to simply create buttons with different images for different visual states in Visual Studio 2008 or Expression Blend 3. Here's where I am currently. My button is defined like this in the XAML: <Button Style="{StaticResource MyButton}"/> The MyButton style appears as follows: <Style x:Key="MyButton" TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="Button"> <Image Source="/Assets/Graphics/mybtn_up.png" Width="54" Height="24"> <VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="FocusStates"> <VisualState x:Name="Focused"/> <VisualState x:Name="Unfocused"/> </VisualStateGroup> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates"> <VisualState x:Name="Normal"/> <VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/> <VisualState x:Name="Pressed"/> <VisualState x:Name="Disabled"/> </VisualStateGroup> </VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> </Image> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> I cannot figure out how to assign a different template to different states, nor how to change the image's source based on which state I'm in. • MVC SiteMap - when different nodes point to same action SiteMap.CurrentNode does not map to the correct route

  Setup: I am using ASP.NET MVC 4, with mvcSiteMapProvider to manage my menus. I have a custom menu builder that evaluates whether a node is on the current branch (ie, if the SiteMap.CurrentNode is either the CurrentNode or the CurrentNode is nested under it). The code is included below, but essentially checks the url of each node and compares it with the url of the currentnode, up through the currentnodes "family tree". The CurrentBranch is used by my custom menu builder to add a class that highlights menu items on the CurrentBranch. The Problem: My custom menu works fine, but I have found that the mvcSiteMapProvider does not seem to evaluate the url of the CurrentNode in a consistent manner: When two nodes point to the same action and are distinguished only by a parameter of the action, SiteMap.CurrentNode does not seem to use the correct route (it ignores the distinguishing parameter and defaults to the first route that that maps to the action defined in the node). Example of the Problem: In an app I have Members. A Member has a MemberStatus field that can be "Unprocessed", "Active" or "Inactive". To change the MemberStatus, I have a ProcessMemberController in an Area called Admin. The processing is done using the Process action on the ProcessMemberController. My mvcSiteMap has two nodes that BOTH map to the Process action. • Android Alert Dialog Extract User Choice Radio Button?

  Apologies for any coding ignorance, I am a beginner and am still learning! I am creating a quiz app which reads questions off a SQL database and plots them as points on a google map. As the user clicks each point, an alert dialog appears with radio buttons to answer some question. My radiobuttons are in CustomItemizedOverlay file and when I click submit, I want to be able to send the user choice back to the database, save it and return to the user if their answer is correct. My question is this, how do I pass the user choice out once the submit button has been clicked? I tried making a global variable to read what was selected to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated!   I need to create board game that can be dynamically change. Its size can be 5x5, 6x6, 7x7 or 8x8. I am jusing JavaFX with NetBeans and Scene builder for the GUI. When the user choose board size greater than 5x5 this is what happens: This is the template on the scene builder before adding cells dynamically: To every cell in the GridPane I am adding StackPane + label of the cell number: @FXML GridPane boardGame; public void CreateBoard() { int boardSize = m_Engine.GetBoard().GetBoardSize(); int num = boardSize * boardSize; int maxColumns = m_Engine.GetNumOfCols(); int maxRows = m_Engine.GetNumOfRows(); for(int row = 0; row < maxRows ; row++) { for(int col = maxColumns - 1; col >= 0 ; col--) { StackPane stackPane = new StackPane(); stackPane.setPrefSize(150.0, 200.0); stackPane.getChildren().add(new Label(String.valueOf(num))); boardGame.add(stackPane, col, row); num--; } } boardGame.setGridLinesVisible(true); boardGame.autosize(); } The problem is the stack panes's size on the GridPane are getting smaller. I tried to set them equal minimum and maximum size but it didn't help they are still getting smaller. I searched on the web but didn't realy find same problem as mine. The only similar problem to mine was found here: Dynamically add elements to a fixed-size GridPane in JavaFX But his suggestion is to use TilePane and I need to use GridPane because this is a board game and it more easier to use GridPane when I need to do tasks such as getting to cell on row = 1 and column = 2 for example. The problem is that even if validation fails (i.e. the Model.validate method returns a value) the post/put request is still sent to the server. This contradicts what is explained in the Backbone.js documentation. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong.
