  • Trying to test space in filesystem on Unix

    I need to check if I Filesystem exists, and if it does exist there is 300 MB of space in it. What I have so far: if [ "$(df -m /opt/IBM | grep -vE '^Filesystem' | awk '{print ($3)}')" < "300" ] then echo "not enough space in the target filesystem" exit 1 fi This throws an error. I don't really know what I'm doing in shell. My highest priority is AIX but I'm trying to get it to work for HP and Sun too. Please help. -Alex

  • Problems with mounting .ISO files

    I'm using Precise, with GNOME. I've attempted to install some retro, multi-cd games (KOTOR1) via .ISO images and WINE, but I can't get the ISO's to mount correctly. First I tried GMountISO, which showed a read-only warning but worked - until I went to unmount. When the installation program asked for CD 2 I couldn't unmount from the /cdrom folder because neither GMountISO or umount from terminal could detect the mount. After a reboot, I changed to GISOMount (different somehow, I guess?), but when I attempt to mount the ISO I get an error window explaining the syntax of the mount command and, which is also what I get when I attempt to use mount from terminal. After checking /media from terminal on a lark I see the disc mounted there twice over, but umount won't recognize it, even when I specify the full path sudo umount /media/KOTOR_1.iso. It cleared up upon reboot. Can someone please assist? UPDATE :: Thanks for the quick response. What's weird, is the images are like stuck in limbo...     My dropbox syncing is incredibly slow... I am using dropbox from the ubuntu repository on an almost fresh ubuntu installation. I would like to avoid to install the package from the dropbox website for the reasons explained here Dropbox Upgrade Is someone having the same problem? How can I solve? I installed ubuntu 10.04 ( without AMD graphics driver) it was working fine, but when I installed AMD graphics drivers AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver, than the problem started from then When I boot I was get black screen. Than I thought to upgrade from ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 using the bootable pen drive but was getting black screen than read on some forums that was because of the switchable graphics, than upgraded ubuntu 12.04 by setting to "nomodeset". It was working, again thought to install graphics driver AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver, again after installing this, when I boot I am getting blank scree . Can anyone help me to inatall ubuntu 12.04 along with AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver. Any help is highly appreciated.

It tells me "no device detected". I checked that it is enabled in the BIOS settings.     I recently created a virtual windows xp with Virtual Box OSE. The sound and video seem to be working just fine. However, it does not recognize the webcam which I use to video chat with yahoo messenger. I use Windows to have video chats with my daughters who live in another country. Since I did not want to go back to windows, I decided to try installing windows in a virtual machine. But when I tried using it yesterday, everything worked perfectly except for the webcam. I was not able to make the webcam work. I tried to download the drivers for it, but since my laptop is HP Pavilion g4-1287la, Core i3, none of the drivers I tried worked. I got the same error every time I tried to install them, something like: This driver cannot be installed in this machine

  • HP 6735s Brightness hotkey problem; where is brightness panel?

    I have installed ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop hp 6735s. The screen is often too dark and i want to make it brighter, although the hotkeys Fn+F7/F8 are not working. I have tried some things: Firstly it appears that sometimes they are in fact working, after reboot they either work and continue to do so or they don't. I've read about a brightness applet; but where can i find or install it? I have tried some grub options; acpi_osi=Linux and acpi_backlight=vendor but nothing changes. I don't want to add another question but since it might be related: my laptop also gets quite hot, i'm having doubts whether ubuntu connects to the available sensors and cooling plans (or how does it work???); sensors (or psensor) only shows 2 sensors both named temp1. Any help is greatly appreciated! Paul

    i have a hp dv6 6154tx with an integrated Intel GPU and a discrete ATI GPU (Radeon Mobility HD 6490M (1 GB DDR5)). -Problems: when i install ubuntu 12.10 using wubi, my laptop starts heating, fans start to run fast (to much of noise), and battery goes really low Any attempt to install catalyst drivers (from ati official site and also proprietary drivers) fails , as after reboot when i login everything is gone like no unity no desktop and sometimes black screen appears. even bumblebee and jupiter didnt help.... :( So PLEASE, PLEASE can somebody post the real solution to my problems i.e.(inc battery life and stop fan noise and heating). (i want to install ubuntu only using wubi)

    I just recently bought a HP DV6T-7000 Quad Edition. It has an Intel HD 4000 and a Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 2GB with Optimus. I read that I could use bumblebee to make optimus work, so I installed it. I also installed bumblebee-nvidia and nvidia-current from the ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates ppa. I rebooted, but when I tried to run anything with optirun, the computer would wait ten seconds or so, then do a hard shutdown. I got no log messages from bumblebee, Xorg, or optirun, either. I have purged and reinstalled bumblebee, bumblebee-nvidia, and nvidia-current. I have also set the turned off power management in the bumblebee.conf file to no avail. I am out of ideas about this, and I need both options. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    My printer was working under 9.x. It is a an hp photosmart C3100 series. When I open the Admin- printing. no local printers are found. I try to add via other (My local choices are Serial and other). I have tried many uri's - ipp://localhost:631/ipp, http://localhost/ipp, localhost, 127.0.0.1, etc... None have worked. Under the networked I have tried JetDirect, using localhost and 127.0.0.1 and port 631. I have tried many options under IPP with different variants in the host trying to verify a printer. No luck. I tried LPD/LPR with localhost and tried the probe. no luck. I tried the cups admin via localhost:631 and that didn't work. On the old version its simply found the local printer, I might have picked the driver, I can't remember but it was the photosmart c3100 series that was working. I just can't get 10.4 to print.

Again, my question are: Is there an environment variable that will cause pdksh to behave like ksh93? Failing that: Is there an option on pdksh to get the required behavior?

I have used sort() method of dictionary but it doesnt give expected result. It just sort according to alphabatical order. In expected sorting order 1st priority should be to small letter then to capital letter then to number.

These jerks are not letting me concentrate or work properly. This happens even when I'm just typing in notepad while no other application is running.     I've configured the following on a cisco router: aaa authentication login default group radius local ! radius-server host x.x.x.x auth-port 1012 acct-port 1013 radius-server host y.y.y.y auth-port 1012 acct-port 1013 radius-server retransmit 1 radius-server timeout 3 radius-server key 7 xxxxxxxxx I'd like to be able to specify some radius options in order to add information about the type of connection for which a user is being authenticated, i.e. I'd like the radius server to receive in the Cisco Router's Radius Access Request information about the connection being SSH or Telnet.. I'd like to find something that automatically adds this info in the access request, without specific configurations on VTY lines dedicated to SSH and to Telnet. Any idea about that?

  • Need to hookup HP dv7-3085dx with Nvidia GeForce GT 230M to my Dell 30 inch LCD 3007WFP at max resol

    I recently bought an HP laptop (dv7-3085dx) (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv7-3085dx/4505-3121_7-33776108.html) which is supposed to have a pretty good video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M). The card is supposed to output a max resolution of 2560x1600 which is also the max resolution of my monitor (http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/02/dell_3007wfp_on_dell_2001fp_action_8_megapixel_desktop.html). Now I bought an HDMI to dual link dvi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKLYDK/ref=oss_product) cable...this is after Best Buy's 70 dollar hdmi to dvi (perhaps it was 'single' link?) didn't give me the best resolution. In windows 7, when I try to set the max resolution for my 30 in monitor, I only get 1280x800...which is absurd. The monitor is great, I love the laptop and the video card supposedly supports such resolutions. So I can't figure out why I'm not getting better resolution (by the way, when i "detect" my monitor in windows 7, it is shown correctly as DELL 3007WFP!).

I want to track the usage like: Who (IP Address) initiated the print task Time Status: Success or Failure How many Pages Color or Gray Scale etc. I checked the manuals and nothing about this requirement is available. The built-in control panel log displays only last 10 activities. Is there a way to track these information? Is there an API avaialble so that I can make an application myself?

  • Can I run Linux on the HP Mini from Verizon Wireless, with a built-in 3G modem, and connect using the built in modem?

    I apologize if my question made little sense, I am very tired at the moment. Anyway, Recently I purchases the HP Mini from Verizon Wireless. It runs on the Intel Atom processor and came with Windows 7 Starter Edition, which is quite possibly the worst and most restrictive OS I have ever used. I plan on installing CRUX, after doing a little research on minimal, free, Linux operating systems, as I am working on web programming using Python, among other things. My only worry is that, because my HP Mini uses a built in wireless card (and I have no wifi connection, only a 3G connection) that has a "mobile access" connection to Verizon wireless, I am not sure if after installing CRUX that I would still be able to connect using this option. I have never used Linux before, and am hoping this will work. So if anybody has experience with this...please answer, can I connect to vzw 3G with linux, using an internal mobile access card...

    I picked up some infiniband cards off ebay for development/testing purposes. I was hoping that there would be some drivers available under windows 7, but it doesn't seem to be recognised by the OFED software which would seem to contain windows drivers.
