  • Regex for recursive "wiki-style" lists

    I'm trying to create a Regular Expression to match "wiki style" lists as in (using preg_replace_callback() ): * List Item 1 * List Item 2 *# List Item 2.1 *# List Item 2.2 * List Item 3 Asterisks denote Unordered Lists while Number-Signs denote Ordered Lists. I'm trying to get this so it can match infinite depth and so that * and # can be mixed. I tried the following expression (and variations of it): /\s([*#]{1,}) ([\S ]+)\s/si But it doesn't seem to want to work. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a better way of accomplishing this?

    Hi Everyone, i'm just a begginer in perl, and very urgently need to prepare a small script that takes top 3 things from an xml file and puts them in a new one. Here's an example of an xml file: <article> {lot of other stuff here} </article> <article> {lot of other stuff here} </article> <article> {lot of other stuff here} </article> <article> {lot of other stuff here} </article> What i'd like to do is to get first 3 items along with all the tags in between and put it into another file.     Regular expressions have always been my pet peeves. Every time I think that I finally got it I have a new problem ! I want to catch url like this : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/99/104 http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla1/99 and eventually : http://www.mydomain.com/boutique/blabla-1/bla-bla2/product1/99/104/55/ after a lot of tries and errors I came up with this which seems to work with http://www.gskinner.com/RegExr/ but not in apache ^.*/boutique/([a-zA-Z-]*)(/?[a-zA-Z-]*)/?([0-9]*)/?([0-9]*)/?$ boutique.php?c1=$3&c2=$4 (I was only working with the first two url so far) MY apache rewrite log debug files are helpless : pass through /Users/iko/Sites/mysite/boutique.php I'm only interrested in getting the ids. Any help we'll be welcomed ! Thank you.

    In JavaScript: "ab abc cab ab ab".replace(/\bab\b/g, "AB"); correctly gives me: "AB abc cab AB AB" When I use utf-8 characters though: "aß aß? ?aß aß aß".replace(/\baß\b/g, "AB"); the word boundary operator doesn't seem to work: "aß aß? ?aß aß aß" Is there a solution to this?

Only the half of them matches, I guess that's because of the space wich count only once. So I tried to double every space before processing, but in some case it's not enough.     Hi, all. I'm looking for a way to replace the bullet character in Greasemonkey. I assume a Regular Expression will do the trick, but I'm not as well-versed in it as many of you. For example, "SampleSite.com • Page Title" becoming "SampleSite.com Page Title". The issue is that the character has already been parsed by the time Greasemonkey has gotten to it, and I don't know how to make it recognize the symbol. I've tried these so far, but they haven't worked: newTitle = document.title.replace(/•/g, ""); newTitle = document.title.replace("•", ""); //just for grins, but didn't work anyway

  • Using Regex to remove Carriage Returns in a CSV file in Notepad++

    I have a CSV file I need to clean up. This is a one-time thing so I'd like to do it in Notepad++ if possible. The CSV file has two fields, one of which is wrapped in quotes. I'd like to remove any Carriage Returns from within the quoted field. I was trying to use this pattern but can't get it quite right... (.*)\"(.*)\n(.*)\"(.*) Also correct me if I am wrong, but I presume the "replace with" value would be something along the lines of: \1\2\3\4 Thanks in advance. I'm also open to alternate solutions such as a quick and dirty PERL script.

    I have a long string in javascript like var string = 'abc234832748374asdf7943278934haskhjdasfhjkdfas83421def8923487234897234897'; I am trying to match like abc234832748374 and def8923487234897 - that is - I have tried like string.match(\abc[^abc]|\def[^def]|) but that doesnt get me both strings because I need numbers after them ? Basically I need abc + 8 chars after and def the 8-11 chars after ? How can I do this ?

    Any time I want to replace a piece of text that is part of a larger piece of text, I always have to do something like: "(?P<start>some_pattern)(?P<replace>foo)(?P<end>end)" And then concatenate the start group with the new data for replace and then the end group. Is there a better method for this?

    The list of valid XML characters is well known, as defined by the spec it's: #x9 | #xA | #xD | [#x20-#xD7FF] | [#xE000-#xFFFD] | [#x10000-#x10FFFF] My question is whether or not it's possible to make a PCRE regular expression for this (or its inverse) without actually hard-coding the codepoints, by using Unicode general categories. An inverse might be something like [\p{Cc}\p{Cs}\p{Cn}], except that improperly covers linefeeds and tabs and misses some other invalid characters.

    I have fews combinations of strings that I need to bring in to one pattern, that is multiple spaces should be removed, double hyphens should be replaced with single hypen, and single space should be replaced with single hyphen. I have already tried this expression. $output = preg_replace( "/[^[:space:]a-z0-9]/e", "", $output ); $output = trim( $output ); $output = preg_replace( '/\s+/', '-', $output ); But this fails in few combinations. I need help in making all of these combinations to work perfectly: steel-black steel- black steel black I should also remove any of these as well "\r\n\t".

    Hello, I am using the following Rewrite URL: RewriteRule /([^/?.]+) /somedir/somefile.aspx\?Name=$1 [NC,L] which works great for my use, but I need to restrict it to only act on text that does not contain a filename... for example, if I use the url www.somedomain.com/SomeName it works fine, but it also fires if I use www.somedomain.com/TestPage.aspx So I am not sure if I need an additional Rewtire rule, or if the current one can be modified to disallow any text with an extension, for example. Any help with this regular expression would be greatly appreciated.

    I am using gsub in Ruby to make a word within text bold. I am using a word boundary so as to not make letters within other words bold, but am finding that this ignores words that have a quote after them. For example: text.gsub(/#{word}\b/i, "<b>#{word}</b>") text = "I said, 'look out below'" word = below In this case the word below is not made bold. Is there any way to ignore certain characters along with a word boundary?

    I'm trying to run a unix regEXP on every log file in a 1.12 GB directory, then replace the matched pattern with ''. Test run on a 4 meg file is took about 10 minutes, but worked. Obviously something is murdering performance by several orders of magnitude. Find: ^(?!.*155[0-2][0-9]{4}\s.*).*$ -- NOTE: match any line NOT starting 152[0-2]NNNN where in is a number 0-9. Replace with: ''. Is there some justifiable reason for my regExp to take this long to replace matching text, or is the program I am using (this is windows / a program called "grepWin") most likely poorly optimized?
