• When gaming computer freezes with a blank screen and a buzzing sound

  I have a problem with random freezes when playing games. Sometimes it's fine for hours, other times it dosn't last even one. I tried googling around and I found recomendations to update my graphics drivers and to test for overheating. The graphics drivers haven't helped worked and Furmark created a consistant heat higher than I get during a crash. I even tried running a game using the Linux dual boot and WINE, that crashed too. Here are the tempreture logs leading up to the latest crash. The GPU dosn't hit 80, and I've hit 90 with no crash on firmark.   We use a service that allots us X number of requests per IP and has allows us to setup 5 IPs with such a limit (I know.. it seems stupid they could not just up the limit 5x on one IP). Pretend I have a linux box with the following address on the internet: 66.249.90.104 - that is an Google IP and not mine... so feel free to try to hack into it :) I setup apache+mod_proxy as a forwarding proxy (ProxyRequests On). i.e. you can setup firefox to use 66.249.90.104:8080 as a proxy, and all firefox traffic comes out as 66.249.90.104. So far so good. Problem: Now I add more alias interfaces so the total looks like this: eth0: 66.249.90.104 eth0:1 66.249.90.105 eth0:2 66.249.90.106 eth0:3 66.249.90.107 eth0:4 66.249.90.108 I run apache+mod_proxy (single apache instance) which binds to all interfaces, but no matter which address I connect to use the forwarding proxy, all traffic goes out to the internet as 66.249.90.104 I have also tried running 5 different apaches, each binding to its own interface only, but that still sends the outbound request through 66.249.90.104. I was hoping to get it to work as follows: I connect to 66.249.90.108 and make a proxy request, and it goes out as 66.249.90.108. I connect to 66.249.90.107 and make a proxy request, and it goes out as 66.249.90.107. etc. Has anyone else had to deal with this issue? The fall back solution would be to just run apache on 5 separate boxes, but I would prefer it to all work on one box. Thanks!

  I have a remote linux server accessible through SSH only. My goal is to host multiple Virtual Machines on this host server using VirtualBox. The host server has 1 IP address, so NAT will be used to route to the VMs for example 10022 will forward to server1:22 and 20022 will forward to server2:22. I have installed VirtualBox and copied a pre-configured CentOS VM to the host server. I start the VM, but cannot establish a connection to the server for example ssh -p 10022 127.0.0.1 times out. I've tried many things: Method 1: Copied existing .vdi, attached to new VM Method 2: Imported .Ova VM (thought it would help any MAC re-init issues?) NAT network type, tried natnet1 192.168/16 and 10.0/16 VBoxManage modifyvm "hermes.awoms.com" --natnet1 "192.168/16" Port forwarding with and without specifying VM ip in modifyvm --natpf1 command VBoxManage modifyvm "hermes" --natpf1 "guestssh,tcp,,10022,,,22" VBoxManage modifyvm "hermes" --natpf1 "guestssh,tcp,,10022,192.168.0.15,22" I can't see if VM is even booting (VBoxHeadless "hermes" --start & runs with no errors) I can't tell if VM is getting an IP address Is there anything else I can do to get more information from VirtualBox or the VM starting up when the only access I have is SSH?

  In my apartment, the management provides the building with a network connection. I have my computer plugged into the ethernet coming out of the walls, and my friend who also lives in the apartment building has his computer connected to a separate ethernet jack. As far as I know our two computers are not within a LAN, and ipconfig shows that we only have external ip addresses. The problem, then, appears when we attempt make direct communication between our computers. I have some hosting server set up on my machine, and my friend is unable to connect to it via my ip address. Other people who do not live in the apartment can connect fine.   I'm a bit of a VPN newbie, so please go easy on me ... I'm trying to use the VPN trunking capabilities of the DrayTek Vigor 2930 firewall to bond two IPSec VPN connections to a Cisco ASA 5520 device and I'm getting myself tied in knots and hope someone here with more knowledge / experience can help. I have a remote site with two ADSL connections and the DrayTek box. The main office site has the Cisco ASA device. I am able to setup a single IPSec connection between the two sites on either of the ADSL connections' public IP addresses, but as soon as I try to use the VPN bonding, nothing works. The VPN tunnels are both still up, but the traffic is getting lost somewhere. I suspect it's due to the ASA not knowing how to route the traffic back over the VPN - one minute, traffic from my remote office's network is coming from public ip address #1, the next it's coming from public address #2 and it doesn't know what to do. Well, that's my newbie impression of what's going wrong, but I don't really know: If this is really what's happening If what I'm trying to do (bond two VPN connections from a single remote network to improve the bandwidth / resiliency) is possible with the kit I've got Could anyone help?

  We have a set up where the browser makes an http request to Box A which in turn makes an http request to Box B. What we're encountering is that Box A waits for Box B to respond for two minutes then the users sees: The page cannot be displayed Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed. Try the following: * Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion. * Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped. * Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link. Technical Information (for support personnel) * Error Code: 404 Not Found. The requested item could not be located. (12028) Watching the logs on Box B we see that it takes 5 minutes to do the work requested. The problem is that the apache time outs on both boxes are set 1200 (20m), not 120 (2m). Any ideas where to look?

I think I understand what is causing it but I don't know how to solve it (Don't know what they mean by "Edit the Hadoop server's configuration file so that it includes its NIC's address."). The other post that they link says that the configuration files should refer to the machine's externally accessible host name. I think I got this right as every hadoop configuration file refers to "master" and the etc/hosts file lists the master by its private IP address. How can I solve this? Edit: I have 5 nodes: master, slavec, slaved, slavee and slavef all running debian.   Hello all, I have a problem with a vpn connection on Windows XP SP3 that appears to be related to an account (maybe privilleges or an option that I have missed). When connecting using my account, which is a domain administrator account it will connect to through the vpn fine. However, using an account created for another person they receive Error 691: Username or Password is not valid for this domain. On the domain controller (windows 2003) I see a logon successful message: User DOMAIN\user was granted access.   I've purchased a Squid appliance that I'm attempting to implement, however the lack of documentation has left me a bit high and dry. Forgive me if this is a silly question, but this is my first attempt at implementing Squid. From what I can ascertain from the documentation (or lack thereof), the users connect to DansGuardian first at port 8080 where the filtering is done, at which point it forwards it to the Squid appliance at port 3128. The traffic is then sent to the internet. The setup I have is as follows Gateway (MikroTik router) : 192.168.88.1 Squid/DansGuardian :192.168.88.100 Client : 192.168.88.238 Client --- Gateway --- Proxy --- Internet I have set up a simple NAT rule to forward all traffic from the client machine (for testing purposes) to go to the DansGuardian. The traffic seems to get there, although I see a lot of SYN_RECV w/ a netstat -antp command on the virtual appliance machine. From this I gather that the traffic is NOT being routed back to the client machine.
