Centralized sudo sudoers file?

I am the admin of several different servers and currently there is a different sudoers file on each one. This is getting slightly out of hand as quite often I need to give someone permissions to do something with sudo but it only gets done on one server. Is there an easy way of editing the sudoers file just on my central server and then distributing it by SFTP or something like that to the other servers in an easy way? Mostly wondering how other sysadmins solve this problem, since the sudoers file doesn't seem to be remotely accessible with NIS, for example. Operating system is SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 64-bit, but it shouldn't matter. EDIT: Every machine will, for now, have the same sudoers file. EDIT2: The accepted answer's comment was the closest to what I actually went ahead and did. I am right now using an SVN-supported puppet-installation and after a few headaches, it's working very well.

javascript addEventListener onStateChange not working in IE

Hi, I have two colorbox popup boxes which show a youtube video in each. When they're finished playing, I'm trying to have them automatically close the colorbox window. This code below works perfect in firefox, but in IE I can't get addEventListener to work. I've tried attachEvent with no success. Can anybody offer any suggestions as to how to solve this? It seems simple but I'm exhausted trying to find a solution. Set predefine form value (webbrowser control)

Hi I want to load my windows form: web browser thats using the webbrowser control, It would load a web page, and load my defination and search for elements that has been define, it will then assign the default values and these values can not be changed by the end user. Example If my application finds "FirstName" it would always assign the value "John" If my application finds "LastName" it would always assign the value "Smith" (these values should not be changed by the end user). Getting FC11 to run under VMware Server, converted from physical machine

I have a FC11 installation that I have converted to a VMware disk image to run om my VMware Server. I converted it with qemu-img, as the VMware Converter software apparently only converts Linux hosts to VMware Infrastructure servers. The disk image boots fine (grub is loaded and boots the kernel) but it seems like the disk is not found by the kernel, and the boot process stalls. Hotplugging USB devices work (the kernel prints debug information) and I'm able to press keys (Ctrl-Alt-Delete for instance). The VMware guest OS is set to RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 (32 bit), and I have tried both the LSI Logic, LSI Logic SAS and VMware Accelerated SCSI SCSI controllers, to no avail. I'm able to boot an installer disk and get into rescue mode and mount the filesystem, so my question is, what do I need to do to the guest kernel / initrd image to make it recognize the virtual disk?

Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core with AD Role having GUI Admin Console

I would like to setup a machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core and install following server roles: Active Directory Domain Services Active Directory Federation Services Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (I'm not sure whether I actually need this one - see note below) I'm obviously going to install Enterprise Edition. Question Can I have an AD administration graphical user interface to manage Active Directory on Server Core machine? I would really like to have it, because I'm not so keen to do stuff using power-shell, because I've never managed AD as well, so a GUI would be much more helpful, because I could at least visualize it a bit better and maybe understand AD structures. Note: I'm setting up development environment machine as well and installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 on in so it would use this AD machine.

ISA Server Route Add Question

Hi All, I have a situation where I have and ISA 2006 server (on Win2k3) that has an internal and an externaly facing NIC's. All works fine but I need to add a couple of routes for the following reason: Our monitoring software is on a different network. Our Terminal server is on a different network. Currently, access to the internet, through this proxy server, from the terminal server fails. Also, monitoring of the ISA server via a remote monitor or the installed agent talking to the remote monitor (BMC) also fails. The default enterprise rule on ISA blocks the traffic as I beleive it doesn't trust / know about those networks. Here is my routing table: I need to add a couple of address, but this one being the main one: 192.168.245.137 / mask 255.255.255.192 / gateway 192.168.245.129 But I can't get it to work. Routing is not my strong point but at the moment have no one else available to help. Can you offer any assistance? Please ask if you need more info

Hyper-V Manager right clicking on remote VM causes MMC error

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise Server with SP1 that I log into and use to manage virtual machines running on multiple HyperV servers on our domain. Sometimes when I right click on a remote VM the HyperV Manager will crash and display the following error message: If I use the Actions menu on the lower right it works just fine, but for some reason right clicking cause MMC to stop working. x-dom-event-stream in Opera 10 Only Working on First Event

I have a python script (in the CherryPy framework) that sends Event: and data: text as this Opera blog post describes to a client browser. The javascript that recieves the x-dom-event-stream content is almost identical to what they show in the blog post. However, the browser displays only the first event sent. Anyone know what I'm missing? I tried a few older versions of Opera and found that it works in Opera 9.52 but not in any newer versions. What did they change? Windows Server 2008 R2 - What now?

So I installed Windows Server 2008 R2, I have Exchange 2010 running for some mail. I installed BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express for kicks. This server runs dns/dhcp for 2 laptops. But what now? It has 200g's free on the main drive and a 150g external that I have mapped as a network drive. I am not sure what else to do with this thing. It was my main station but since my laptop is nicer I am running it headless and using the lcd monitor for it as a second monitor for the laptop when I am at home.

How to use new disk space after extend attached SAN disk

I have extended the space of my SAN vDisk from 1TB to 1.2TB, but Windows Explorer doesn't show the new size. After resize the vdisk in the SAN Manager, the Disk Management utility shows the 200GB unallocated space, then I resized the partition to use the unallocated space to get a 1.2TB partition, the process was succesfully, but in the Windows File Explorer the disk still have 1TB of total space. Win version: Windows Storage Server Enterprise 2007. Do I need to restart the server? How can I use the new extra space without rebooting?

Linq to XML: create an anonymous object with element attributes and values

I'm new to Linq and I'm trying to query a XML document to find a list of account managers for a particular user. (I realize it might make more sense to put this in a database or something else, but this scenario calls for a XML document). <user emailAddress='[email protected]'> <accountManager department='Customer Service' title='Manager'>[email protected]</accountManager> <accountManager department='Sales' title='Account Manager'>[email protected]</accountManager> <accountManager department='Sales' title='Account Manager'>[email protected]</accountManager> </user> I trying to create a list of objects (anonymous type?) with properties consisting of both XElement attributes (department, title) and values (email). I know that I can get either of the two, but my problem is selecting both. I am getting a JS error and what to know what it means and how to solve it. advanced xml? multi level .. php parsing

hi my knowledge of xml and php is somewhat basic but have been able to parse a simple xml document (one level) ~ <numbers> <number>1</number> <number>2</number> </numbers> i'm attempting to parse an xml document from a website providing the latest market prices for gold bullion. I think i'm going to need a paid professional but want to give it a shot the xml file looks like this: <envelope> <message type="MARKET_DEPTH_A" version="0.1"> <market> <pitches> <pitch securityClassNarrative="GOLD" securityId="AUXLN" considerationCurrency="GBP" > <buyPrices> <price actionIndicator="B" quantity="0.153" limit="23477" /> </buyPrices> <sellPrices> <price actionIndicator="S" quantity="0.058" limit="23589" /> </sellPrices> </pitch> </pitches> </market> </message> </envelope> and simply i have no idea how to access the values within the "headings". (whatever the term is) sounds like i'm asking for someone to do it for me, which I don't want, but I don't know what to search for ~ it doesn't look like a regular xml structure to me. thanks!

Cisco FC SAN switch decision

I've got to buy a bunch of FC SAN switches in the next week or so, I have to, and want to, buy Cisco MDSs. Servers are HP BL490c G6's in C7000 chassis with Virtual-Connect Flex-10 ethernet interconnects and VC FC interconnects (Emulex HBAs btw), all running ESX 3.5U4 (for now). I think I've only really got two choices; MDS 9509's with dual-supervisors with a single 48-port 4Gb FC card MDS 9222i's with single supervisor and the built-in 18-FC-port/4-GigE-FCIP-port option Both have the same functionality (I think, buying the enterprise licence btw), both have plenty enough performance and adequate ports for now and the next three years. The 9222i's are about 55% the price of the 9509's - logic says get the 'i's but will I really miss the dual-supervisors? I've got lots of 9509's with dual-supervisors that I'm very happy with but I'm not sure I've every benefitted from the dual-sups in the past and they are nearly twice the price - but if I don't buy them and miss them I can't retrofit them later. What are your thoughts?

Hi all, I'm trying to develop a firefox toolbar ;) so my structure is In the options.xul is an PrefWindow which i'm opening over an <toolbarbutton oncommand="esbTb_OpenPreferences()"/> function esbTb_OpenPreferences() { window.openDialog("chrome://Toolbar/content/options.xul", "einstellungen", "chrome,titlebar,toolbar,centerscreen,modal", this);} so in my preferences i can set some checkboxes which indicates what links are presented in my toolbar. So when the preferences window is Closed or the "Ok" button is hitted I want to raise an event or an function which updates via DOM my toolbar. So this is the function which is called when the toolbar is loaded. Detecting browser capabilities and selective events for mouse and touch

I started using touch events for a while now, but I just stumbled upon quite a problem. Until now, I checked if touch capabilities are supported, and applied selective events based on that. Like this: if(document.ontouchmove === undefined){ //apply mouse events }else{ //apply touch events } However, my scripts stopped working in Chrome5 (which is currently beta) on my computer. I researched it a bit, and as I expected, in Chrome5 (as opposed to older Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc.) document.ontouchmove is no longer undefined but null. At first I wanted to submit a bug report, but then I realized: There are devices that have both mouse and touch capabilities, so that might be natural, maybe Chrome now defines it because my OS might support both types of events. So the solutions seems easy: Apply BOTH event types. Right? Well the problem now take place on mobile. In order to be backward compatible and support scripts that only use mouse events, mobile browsers might try to fire them as well (on touch). So then with both mouse and touch events set, a certain handler might be called twice every time. What is the way to approach this? Is there a better way to check and apply selective events, or must I ignore the problems that might occur if browsers fire both touch and mouse events at times?

Linux: Schedule command to run once after reboot (RunOnce equivalent)

I'd like to schedule a command to run after reboot on a Linux box. I know how to do this so the command consistently runs after every reboot with a @reboot crontab entry, however I only want the command to run once. After it runs, it should be removed from the queue of commands to run. I'm essentially looking for a Linux equivalent to RunOnce in the Windows world. Windows 2008R2 two node failover cluster creation fails

We have just installed two Windows 2008R2 Enterprise machines with identical hardware. When running the cluster validation everything is ok. When creating the cluster it fails with the following error: An error occurred while creating the cluster. An error occurred creating cluster 'CLUSTER04'. The parameter is incorrect The logfile on the first node where we are running our config from, does not show any errors. On the second node we get: The Cluster service is shutting down because quorum was lost. This could be due to the loss of network connectivity between some or all nodes in the cluster, or a failover of the witness disk. I've double checked and all communication between the servers are fine. Even when creating a one node cluster it gives the error. There are other failover clusters we have setup without any issues.

Retrieving image from database using Ajax

I'm trying to read image from database with Ajax, but I could not read the xmlhttp.responseText to the img src. The image is saved as binary data in database and also retrieved as binary data. I'm using Ajax in JSP, because I want to give the user the ability to upload images and I will view the last uploaded image, on mouse over action the Ajax will be activated and get the image back, the problem is in reading the img from the response. PHP SOAP error: Method element needs to belong to the namespace

I'm unable to retrieve data from an XML document, any help is greatly appreciated. I'm using PHP 5.2.10 and the WSDL url is an internal link within my company. VB.Net Validate an xml against a schema (strange problem)

I have written a small XML validator, that takes in an XML file and an XML schema and validates the XML files against that schema. It works well, except for an XML file, with this content: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xc:program xmlns:xc="http:\\www.something.com\Schema\XC10" xc:version="4.0.22.0" > <xc:namespaceDecls> <xc:namespaceDecl xc:namespaceDeclURI="urn:swift:xsd:abc"> <xc:namespaceDeclPrefix>n</xc:namespaceDeclPrefix> </xc:namespaceDecl> </xc:namespaceDecls> </xc:program> I tried to validate this XML file against a bunch of different schemas. No matter which schema I select, this XML file comes out as valid. What is it that I am missing? Here is the relevant piece of code: 'Create a schema cache and add the given schema to it. Group Policy Task Schedule deployed to User Configuration not working, works when in Computer Configuration?

I added a Scheduled Task on my Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller in the Group Policy Manager: MyDomain Policy User Configuration Preferences Control Panel Settings Scheduled Tasks Basic Task, like starting notepad, when user unlocks his workstation. This should show up in the client workstation's task scheduler, but it dosn't. No errors or anything like that. If I use the "Computer Configuration" instead of "User Configuration" the task appears, and I'm able to run the task. I've tried the gpupdate /force followed by gpresult and checked the report, but it dosn't contain the GPO Scheduled Tasks I created? (again, does show up when using "Computer Configuration".) The issue is that I have to run the application in the current users context, and only on a specific Employee OU, and thereby limit this task only to Employee Workstations and not apply the application when the same employee log on to internal servers and such. Primary domain dontroller is a Windows 2008 R2, workstations Windows 7 Enterprise. What am I doing wrong ?

I'd like to find an example for streaming large xml documents. for example, given the following huge xml document: <Books> <Book> <title>Book-1</title> </Book> <Book> <title>Book-2</title> </Book> <Book> <title>Book-3</title> </Book>  <Book> <title>Book-N</title> </Book> </Books> How should I proceed to loop (streaming) over x-N documents like <Books> <Book> <title>Book-x</title> </Book> </Books> and treat each document with a xslt ? is it possible with xproc ?

Why would the boot screen be displayed on the external monitor?

Why would the boot screen be displayed on the external monitor? This is not really a problem, I'd just like to know the reason behind this. If I boot without an external monitor both the BIOS settings and the boot screen are displayed on the built-in LCD monitor. However, when I boot with a monitor attached, the boot screen and the BIOS settings are displayed on the external monitor. There isn't any setting available regarding this in the BIOS setup (as opposed to my Thinkpad T42 where there is an option regarding this). System specification ASUS K53SV laptop DELL IN2030M monitor (connected via VGA) Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64bit
