• Python Mechanize unable to avoid redirect when Post

  I am trying to crawl a site using mechanize. The site provides search results in different pages. When posting to get the next set of results, something is wrong and the server redirects me to the first page, asking mechanize to update the SearchSession Cookie. I have been debugging the requests using Firefox and they look quite the same, and I am unable to find the problem. Any suggestion? • Servlet/JSP Flow Control: Enums, Exceptions, or Something Else?

  I recently inherited an application developed with bare servlets and JSPs (i.e.: no frameworks). I've been tasked with cleaning up the error-handling workflow. Currently, each <form> in the workflow submits to a servlet, and based on the result of the form submission, the servlet does one of two things: If everything is OK, the servlet either forwards or redirects to the next page in the workflow. If there's a problem, such as an invalid username or password, the servlet forwards to a page specific to the problem condition. For example, there are pages such as AccountDisabled.jsp, AccountExpired.jsp, AuthenticationFailed.jsp, SecurityQuestionIncorrect.jsp, etc. I need to redesign this system to centralize how problem conditions are handled. So far, I've considered two possible solutions: Exceptions Create an exception class specific to my needs, such as AuthException. Inherit from this class to be more specific when necessary (e.g.: InvalidUsernameException, InvalidPasswordException, AccountDisabledException, etc.). Whenever there's a problem condition, throw an exception specific to the condition. Catch all exceptions via web.xml and route them to the appropriate page(s) with the <error-page> tag. enums Adopt an error code approach, with an enum keeping track of the error code and description. The descriptions can be read from a resource bundle in the finished product. I'm leaning more toward the enum approach, as an authentication failure isn't really an "exceptional condition" and I don't see any benefit in adding clutter to the server logs. Plus, I'd just be replacing one maintenance headache with another. Instead of separate JSPs to maintain, I'd have separate Exception classes. I'm planning on implementing "error" handling in a servlet that I'm writing specifically for this purpose. I'm also going to eliminate all of the separate error pages, instead setting an error request attribute with the error message to display to the user and forwarding back to the referrer. Each target servlet (Logon, ChangePassword, AnswerProfileQuestions, etc.) would add an error code to the request and redirect to my new servlet in the event of a problem. • Deserializing Metafile

  I have an application that works with Enhanced Metafiles. I am able to create them, save them to disk as .emf and load them again no problem. I do this by using the gdi32.dll methods and the DLLImport attribute. However, to enable Version Tolerant Serialization I want to save the metafile in an object along with other data. This essentially means that I need to serialize the metafile data as a byte array and then deserialize it again in order to reconstruct the metafile. The problem I have is that the deserialized data would appear to be corrupted in some way, since the method that I use to reconstruct the Metafile raises a "Parameter not valid exception". At the very least the pixel format and resolutions have changed. Code use is below. The saved file is then deserialized again using a BinaryFormatter and the dataArray retrieved from the object. If this same method is used to save the original Metafile before it is serialized everything is OK. So something is happening to the data during serialization/deserializtion. Indeed if I check the Metafile properties in the debugger I can see that the ImageFlags, PropertyID, resolution and pixelformats change. Original Format32bppRgb changes to Format32bppArgb Original Resolution 81 changes to 96 I've trawled though google and SO and this has helped me get this far but Im now stuck. Does any one have enough experience with Metafiles / serialization to help..? EDIT: If I serialize/deserialize the byte array directly (without embedding in another object) I get the same problem.

• NSMutableString leaks on append or replaceOccurrencesOfString

  Hello Folks, I know similar questions have been asked time and time again but I ask that you please bear with me as I cannot seem to find an answer that helps. My application has leaks that are driving me out of my mind. Actually, they are not reported as leaks using Leaks, but my net bytes in ObjectAlloc goes up and up and up and never stops, eventually leading to a crash if it goes on long enough (not very long). The problem occurs with NSMutableStrings. I think there is either something fundamental I don't understand about them, or I am facing another problem that I am having difficulty tracking down but keeps hiding behind the NSMutableStrings. Specifically, I am noticing that whenever I append to or perform a replace on a NSMutableString, ObjectAlloc reports what appear to be mismatches in malloc/frees behind the scene when resizing the NSMutableString. I'm sorry to say this is the second time I'm facing this problem - the first time I messed around for hours and hours and finally the problem went away (magic!) but I don't really know why. When I look at the code below (and believe me, I've stared at it for hours) I cannot see the problem. I look at the code and think to myself that I should be fine because I'm releasing the only object for which I am responsible (aString) and that NSMutableString should be taking care of cleaning up after any resizing it does. In the second example, just so you know in case it helps, the string being passed in comes from an ASIHTTPRequest object (it's the responseString) and I don't do anything at all with it. It's being called simply like so ([self DoStuff2:[request responseString]]) and I don't free the request myself either (I'm using a ASINetworkQueue and I assume that the requests are destroyed for me (I tried and caused errors because the request was already being release somewhere else). Also, I know it shouldn't do anything, but I even tried wrapping the code in autorelease pools, which of course did nothing. I should mention that this code is being run inside of an NSOperation. I thought that perhaps I am experiencing problems because NSOperations should create an autorelease pool for themselves, but I've tried that to no avail. Not related to NSMutableString, but I find I also have similar problems using the NSString componentsSeparatedByString method. Sometimes the memory used by the array that gets the separated components is never released. Hmmm...strings in general seem to be somewhat problematic for me it seems. I would appreciate ANY help anyone can provide. If you require more info, I'll be glad to add it. I do promise you that I've struggled with this (and other problems) for weeks and every problem I encounter I research hard and long until I find a solution - this is not an idle request, but a true cry for help! I've written so much code and now I'm trying to seal some small leaks etc and I notice this problem. Honestly, I cannot believe how memory management in Objective C can stump me so at times...I've read Apple's memory mgmt docs many times and I thought I thoroughly understood it and I try to be diligent about releasing objects I own, but sometimes I find myself wondering if I truly understand...I would like to put this to bed once and make sure I understand all this fully - to have this sort of question/problem after writing thousands of lines of code is more than a little scary/embarrassing/annoying. So again, if anybody has any insight, I'd be grateful.   I'm having an issue where when I publish my modspecs to pdf (XSL-FO). My tables are having issues, where the content of a cell will overflow its column into the next one. How do I force a break on the text so that a new line is created instead? I can't manually insert zero-space characters since the table entries are programmatically entered. • Why is my PHP query executing twice on page load?

  I am newish to PHP and I seem to be having an issue with an insert statement that executes twice when I open this page to view a document. In the database the 2nd insert is 1 second later. I am unsure if it is a favicon issue as my upload page uses an insert query and it executes once. (I would prefer a solution where the request URL is not getting parsed). Is there a way to dynamically provide a default-value for a paramter? Something like a hook? It uses PHP to upload the files and sends back a status message which gets displayed in a status box to the user.   I'm making a DataGridView with a series of Checkboxes in it with the same labels horizontally and vertically. Any labels that are the same, the checkboxes will be inactive, and I only want one of the two "checks" for each combination to be valid. Basically, how do I get the "right" address with the right boolean value so that my flipping algorithm will work?

• How to save a large nhibernate collection without causing OutOfMemoryException

  How do I save a large collection with NHibernate which has elements that surpass the amount of memory allowed for the process? I am trying to save a Video object with nhibernate which has a large number of Screenshots (see below for code). Each Screenshot contains a byte[], so after nhibernate tries to save 10,000 or so records at once, an OutOfMemoryException is thrown. Normally I would try to break up the save and flush the session after every 500 or so records, but in this case, I need to save the collection because it automatically saves the SortOrder and VideoId for me (without the Screenshot having to know that it was a part of a Video). What is the best approach given my situation? Is there a way to break up this save without forcing the Screenshot to have knowledge of its parent Video?   I've got an issue with the BasicAuthProvider in ServiceStack. POST-ing to the CredentialsAuthProvider (/auth/credentials) is working fine. • Animated background image in a hidden <div> doesn't load or loads not animated

  Hello, I have spent the whole day trying to make a script which on "submit" hides the form and shows hidden with animated progress bar. The problem is that Internet Explorer doesn't show animated gif images in hidden divs. The images are static. I visited many websites and found a script which uses: document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundImage = 'url(/images/load.gif)'; Finally, my script works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera but... Google Chrome doesn't display the image at all. I see only div text. After many tests I discovered the following: the only way to see the background image in Google Chrome is to include the same image somewhere in the page (outside of hidden div) with 1px dimensions: <img src="/images/load.gif" width="1" heigh="1" /> This did the trick but... after this dirty solution Microsoft Explorer for some reason shows the image as static again. So, my question is: is there any way how to force Gogle Chrome to show the image? Thanks.   Hey guys, I need a little help.. iv'e been developing a Jqery plug-in to get the page ranks of urls on a website using XHR, The problem is when requesting the rank from google servers the page is returned no content, but if i use an inspector and get the url that was requests and go to it via my browser the pageranks are shown. so it must be something with headers but its just got me puzzled. • ngGrid reusable filter AngularJS

  I have a business requirement that I filter a boolean value in my ngGrid. The filter has three states: only true, only false and both. Filtering like this seems to be a common enough use case that I should refactor that functionality out of my code for re use (possibly in a directive/filter?). I'd like to know how I can go about pulling out the customFilter function in my controller and make it so that I can pass the filter a property name on which to filter, and a value for selectedFilterOption. The code currently works, but I feel like this is a good chance to get better at angular :).   Hi All, I have a problem while decrypting the xl file in rijndael 'c' code (The file got encrypted in Java through JCE) and this problem is happening only for the excel files types which having formula's. Remaining all file type encryption/decryption is happening properly. (If i decrypt the same file in java the output is coming fine.) • How to create a Facebook-App style notifications custom table?

  I want to add a custom table to my iPhone app, that should look and work like the one used in the facebook app showing the notifications. It should contain rows with links in it. The text should be black, while the tap-able parts should appear blue. As a already figured out, labels only have one font, color and so on and you can't mix styles within it, I would have to use different components. The tab-able text parts maybe UIButtons with custom style without any border. I tried different approches to build the custom cell. I used Interface Builder, to layout components, but since the different parts have variable lengths they overlaid each other. I also tried to add instances of UIButton and UILabel as a subview to the cell's contentView as descibed in Apple's tutorial. The problem with this is that: The position and size of the components is fix and set when they get created using "initWithFrame:...". • How can I get Firefox to update background-color on a:hover *before* a javascript routine is run?

  I'm having a Firefox-specific issue with a script I wrote to create 3d layouts. The correct behavior is that the script pulls the background-color from an element and then uses that color to draw on the canvas. When a user mouses over a link and the background-color changes to the :hover rule, the color being drawn changes on the canvas changes as well. When the user mouses out, the color should revert back to non-hover color. This works as expected in Webkit browsers and Opera, but it seems like Firefox doesn't update the background-color in CSS immediately after a mouseout event occurs, so the current background-color doesn't get drawn if a mouseout occurs and it isn't followed up by another event that calls the draw() routine. It works just fine in Opera, Chrome, and Safari. How can I get Firefox to cooperate? I'm including the code that I believe is most relevant to my problem.   I need to show a list of movies ordered by the date they were registered in the system and the amount of comments users have made about them. E.g: Title | Register Date | # of comments Gladiator | 02-01-2010 | 30 Matrix | 01-02-2010 | 20 It is a web application that follows MVC. So, I have the object "Movie", there is a MovieManager interface that is used for retrieving/persisting data to the database and a servlet RecentlyAddedMovies.java that forwards to a .jsp to render the list. I will explain my problem by showing an example of how I am doing another similar task: Showing top ranked movies. The Movie object has a collection of Comment associated but of course, it lacks an instance variable with the length of that collection. The following things came into my mind: a) Create a MovieView object or something like that, that is only used by the "View" and "Controller" layer of the MVC which is not part of the "Model" in the sense that is used only for easy retrieval and display of information. This MovieView object will have a title, registerDate and # of Comments so the thing would look something like this: /** * Returns a collection of the x most recently added movies * @param x the amount of movies to return * @return A collection of movies * @throws SQLException */ public Collection<Movie2> getXRecentlyAddedMovies(int x) throws SQLException; The .jsp: <c:forEach var="movie2" items="${movies2}"> ... <c:out value="${movie2.title}"/> <c:out value="${movie2.registerDate}"/> <c:out value="${movie2.noOfComments}"/> ... </c:forEach> b) Add to the Collection the movie has, empty Comments (there is no actual need to retrieve all the comment data from the database) so that the comment's collection.size() will show the number of comments that movie has. (This sounds horrible to me) c) Add to the "Movie" object an instance field noOfComments with the setter and getter that will help with this type of cases even if, looking only from the object point of view, it is a redundant field since it already has a Collection that is ".size()"able . d) Make the MovieManager retrieve some structure like a Map or a Collection of a two component array or something like that that will contain both a Movie object and the associated number of comments and with JSLT iterate over it and show it accordingly.
