• CAML query with nonexistent field

  We need to have a web service that queries a sharepoint list using CAML, but we do not know what version of the list that we are using. Version introduced a new field we want to use in the query if it is present, but just ignore that otherwise. If I put it in the query on the old version, we get no results. How should I check if the field exists before setting up the query?

  I'm using JW Player 4.5 on my site and I need to add an event listener for when fullscreen is toggled. The reason for this is to switch between a low-def version and high-def version. The default video will be the low-def version and when they switch to a fullscreen display, it will change to the high-def version. According to http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/wiki/Player5Events, the ViewEvent.JWPLAYER_VIEW_FULLSCREEN1 event can only be called from Actionscript. I need it to be from Javascript... Is there any way to achieve this? Can you recommend a better solution?

• Where is my classpath being set?

  Whenever I open a Bash shell, my classpath is "someProgram". I know that adding an export entry to ".bashrc" changes my classpath, but I want to know where "someProgram" is being added to the classpath (it's not in ".bashrc"). Is there a way to track down where this is being set, or some typical spots I should be checking besides ".bashrc"? Details: I'm using Ubuntu 9.10. • On Windows 7: Same path but Explorer & Java see different files than Powershell

  Submitted for your approval, a story about a poor little java process trapped in the twilight zone... Before I throw up my hands and just say that the NTFS partition is borked is there any rational explanation of what I am seeing. I have a file with a path like this C:\Program Files\Company\product\config\file.xml I am reading this file after an upgrade and seeing something wonky. Eclipse and my Java app are still seeing the old version of this file while some other programs see the new version. The test that convinced my it was not my fat finger that caused the problem was this: In Explorer I entered the above path and Explorer displayed the old version of the file. Forcing Explorer to reload via Ctrl-F5 still yields the old version. This is the behavior I get in Java. Now in PowerShell I enter more "C:\Program Files\Company\product\config\file.xml" I cut and past the path from Explorer to make sure I am not screwing anything up and it shows me the new version of the file. So for the programming aspect of this, is there a cache or some system component that would be storing this stale reference. Am I responsible for checking or reseting that for some class of files. I can imagine somebody being "creative" in how xml files are processed to provide some bell or whistle. But it could be a case of just being borked. Any insights appreciated...Thanks!

• Unregistering COM dll with a C# Setup Project

  Hi All. I've been stuck on this one for a while. I'll try explain in the simplest terms and at the best of my knowledge. I will honour any help. I've got a C# project which uses a VB6 compiled ActiveX DLL that I'm constantly updating. I compile the setup project, send it to the client and they run the setup. When building the updated setup project, I would increase the 'Version' of the setup project so it wouldn't bother with 'Another version is already installed'. What started happening after a few updates I began to notice the DLL would not be updated to the new version in the installer. The client computer had the original DLL both installed and registered. First symptom: method not found exceptions from the client C# code. This is not a shared DLL and only this application needs it. I've noticed that when uninstalling the application (through the usual procedure) the DLL is also not removed from the application folder although I would set this file's property 'Permanent' to false. The registration entries in the registry are mantained also. I do update in VS6.0 the version of the DLL (usually increase the build number) before building it. Then in VS2008, I remove it from the References, and add it again from the 'Browse tab', without re-registering it on my dev machine and adding it from the COM tab. I've thought of these options. Custom step in Setup project to regsvr32.exe /u 'hardcoded path of my dll' at uninstall (ugly) Somehow find out how the 'Isolate' property can work for me without registering Find out how to execute setup project 'Conditions' that would actually check the version of the library and to update the file accordingly at every install) Any help would be incredibly welcome.

I had to change the product code also, which I got an option to change through a Message Box just after changing the Version Number. Is this how it's supposed to be?

• C# ProgressBar design pattern

  Hi, I'm working on a database upgrader application. The upgrader updates the schema of a database ( adds new columns, renames columns , adds new tables, new views to an existing database by executing SQL statements ). When a user wants to upgrade from version 1.0 to 2.0 , "Upgrader" objects are taken from an object factory and the "Execute" method of each "Upgrader" is called. The GUI of the application has a progress bar and each time an upgrader object performs a SQL statement the progress bar gets incremented. while (!version.Equal(CurrentVersion)) { IUpgrader myUpgrader = UpgraderFactory.GetUpgrader(version); myUpgrader.Execute(UpgradedFile,progressbar); version.Increment(); } My question is very simple : how should the upgrader object communicate with the progressbar.   Hi, I have a folder with numerous files that I need to copy to multiple PC's on a network. I thought if the folder didn't exist it would automatically create it. Here's what I have... copy "C:\Documents and Settings\follag\Desktop\Music" "\PC NAME\c$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Music" When I look at the destinatin PC, it is not creating the folder and copying the files. • Client no longer getting data from Web Service after introducing targetNamespace in XSD

  Sorry if there is way too much info in this post – there’s a load of story before I get to the actual problem. I thought I‘d include everything that might be relevant as I don’t have much clue what is wrong. I had a working web service and client (both written with VS 2008 in C#) for passing product data to an e-commerce site. The XSD started like this: <xs:schema id="Ecommerce" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:mstns="http://tempuri.org/Ecommerce.xsd" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xs:element name="eur"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="sec" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/> </xs:sequence> etc Here’s a sample document sent from client to service: <eur xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" class="ECommerce_WebService" type="product" method="GetLastDateSent" chunk_no="1" total_chunks="1" date_stamp="2010-03-10T17:16:34.523" version="1.1"> <sec guid="BFBACB3C-4C17-4786-ACCF-96BFDBF32DA5" company_name="Company" version="1.1"> <data /> </sec> </eur> Then, I had to give the service a targetNamespace. Actually I don’t know if I “had” to set it, but I added (to the same VS project) some code to act as a client to a completely unrelated service (which also had no namespace), and the project would not build until I gave my service a namespace. Now the XSD starts like this: <xs:schema id="Ecommerce" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:mstns="http://tempuri.org/Ecommerce.xsd" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.company.com/ecommerce" xmlns:ecom="http://www. company.com/ecommerce"> <xs:element name="eur"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="ecom:sec" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" /> </xs:sequence> etc As you can see above I also updated all the xs:element ref attributes to give them the “ecom” prefix. Now the project builds again. I found the client needed some modification after this. The client uses a SQL stored procedure to generate the XML. This is then de-serialised into an object of the correct type for the service’s “get_data” method. The object’s type used to be “eur” but after updating the web reference to the service, it became “get_dataEur”. And sure enough the parent element in the XML had to be changed to “get_dataEur” to be accepted. Then bizarrely I also had to put the xmlns attribute containing my namespace on the “sec” element (the immediate child of the parent element) rather than the parent element. • ssh login successful, but scp password gives me "Permission denied"

  I'm trying to get some blogging software up on an organizational remote server. I tried to set up a SSH Key but was having problems and decided that getting the blog up and running was more important than dealing with the SSH Key issue, so I ssh-keygen -R remoteserver.com. Now I can successfully login with ssh -v [email protected] and the correct password. Once logged in I can move around and read any file and directory that I should be able to read. But when I try to edit an existing -rw-r--r-- file with VIM, it shows up as read-only, if I try to edit permissions I get chmod: file.ext: Operation not permitted, and if I try to scp a new file from my local machine I'm prompted for the remote user's password, and then get scp: /home/path/to/file.ext: Permission denied. Since I didn't have any of these problems before I tried to set up the ssh key, I suspect these anomalies are a side effect of that, but I don't know how to troubleshoot this. So what does a foolish server-newb, such as myself, need to do to get edit capability back as a remote user? Addendum 1: My userids are different between my local machine and the remote server. 'Antlr3.Runtime, Version=3.1.0.39271, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3a9cab8f8d22bfb7' Now in the same project for another requirement I have to introduce Antlr3.StringTemplate.dll. Which has a dependency on another version of the above assembly. If I use the version of Antlr3.Runtime.dll which satisfies NHibernate , Antlr3.StringTemplate starts complaining and vice-versa. How to resolve a situation like this?

• NDepend: How to not display 'tier' assemblies in dependency graph?

  I was able to do this in an earlier version of nDepend by going to tools-options and setting which assemblies would be part of the analysis (and ignore the rest). The latest version of the trial version of nDepend lets me set it, but it seems to ignore the setting and always analyze all assemblies whether I want it to or not. I tried to delete the "tier" assemblies by moving them over to the "application assemblies" list, but when I delete them out of there, they just get added back to the "tier" list, which I can't ignore. I don't want my dependency graph to contain assemblies like "system," "system.xml," and "system.serialization!" I want only MY assemblies in the dependency graph! Or is that a paid-version feature now? Is there a way to do what I'm talking about?

My IP address is 192.168.1.101 While http://localhost and http://192.168.1.101 work fine in my PC, I cannot access it from within my laptop using http://192.168.1.102 It's strange. I can ping 192.168.1.101 but I got "The connection has timed out." in browser.   I've been struggling with getting an application endpoint working on UCMA 3.0. I am trying to run an application on a server separate from the Lync server which uses a registered ApplicationEndpoint to monitor presence and act as a bot which can send other users messages. I used to have my code working with a UserEndpoint (which was fine for monitoring presence), but did not have the capabilities to send IMs to other Lync users.
