  • Triggering jquery event when an element appears on screen

    - by 0al0
    I want to show a fade effect as soon as the element appears on screen. There is a lot of content before this element so if I trigger the efect on document.ready, at certain resolutions the vistors wont´t see it. Is it possible to trigger an event when, after scrolling down, the element becomes visible? I am almost sure I have seen this effect before, but have no idea how to achieve it. Thank you!

  • need to changed markup with jquery

    - by user357034
    I have the following markup which I do not have direct access to... <a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="window.open('/BulkDiscounts.asp?ProductID=318&ProductCode=' + escape('LB30X40ES') + '&Orig_Price=22.95', 'Discounts', 'scrollbars,status,resizable,width=330,height=300');"><iimg src="/v/vspfiles/templates/100/images/buttons/btn_quantitydiscounts.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></a> I need to "rewrite" the above as follows... A few things to point out is that the title is coming from a variable escape(global_Current_ProductCode) variable=productcode in the case above it is LB30X40ES The height and weight, price and product id used in the second markup must be from the first markup. Note that these change depending on the product loaded. These are not constants. I would guess the first thing to do was to add the thickbox class. Then I am lost as to what to do next. Basically I need to open up an thickbox iframe with the modified markup.

  • how to make complex selectors with 'this' jquery

    - by Stomped
    I have an event handler that needs to do something to one of its children, based on some saved data. So what I'm currently doing is something like this: // Get the ID of 'this' item_id = $(this).attr('id'); // building a selector like $('#item1 .child_3') $('#' + item_id + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); But this seems a little cumbersome. I've tried: $(this + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); and it doesn't work, which doesn't really surprise me. Is there a better way to do this then the successful way I've outlined above?

  • jquery ajax calls with scope safety

    - by acidzombie24
    My gut tells me that if i am on a laggy server and the user fires two events fast enough on the success function c will be the value of the most recent event causing func1 to use the wrong value. <--- This is a guess, i haven't proved it. Its a feeling. How do i ensure that i use the right value when calling func1? I prefer not to send c to the server and i dont know if or how to serialize the data and deserialize it back. How do i make this code safe? $('.blah').click(function (event) { var c = $(this).closest('.comment'); ... $.ajax({ url: "/u", type: "POST", dataType: "json", data: { ... }, success: function (data) { func1(c. data.blah);//here

  • jQuery::Ajax success never occurs

    I have an ajax call in the head section of my index.html $.ajax({ method: 'get', url : 'php/getRecord.php?color=red', dataType: "json", success: function (data) { alert(data); } }); For some reason, that alert never gets called. Am I doing something wrong? The PHP file does give me data when testing it directly.

  • jquery - DOM traversal question

    - by David
    Hi, Basically what I have here is a button that adds a new list item to an unordered list. Within this list item is a dropdown box (.formSelector) that when changed triggers an ajax call to get the values for another dropdown box (.fieldSelector) in the same list item. The problem is on this line: $(this).closest(".fieldSelector").append( If I change it to $(".fieldSelector").append( the second box updates correctly. The problem with this is that when I have multiple list items it updates every dropdown box on the page with the class fieldSelector, which is undesirable. How can I traverse the DOM to just pick the fieldSelector in the current list item? Any help is greatly appreciated. Complete code: $("button", "#newReportElement").click(function() { $("#reportElements").append("<li class=\"ui-state-default\"> <span class=\"test ui-icon ui-icon-arrowthick-2-n-s \"></span><span class=\"ui-icon ui-icon-trash deleteRange \"></span> <select name=\"form[]\" class=\"formSelector\"><? foreach ($forms->result() as $row) { echo "<option value='$row->formId'>$row->name</option>"; }?></select><select class=\"fieldSelector\" name=\"field[]\"></select></li>"); $(".deleteRange").button(); $('.formSelector').change(function() { var id = $(this).val(); var url = "<? echo site_url("report/formfields");?>" + "/" + id; var atext = "ids:"; $.getJSON(url, function(data){ $.each(data.items, function(i,item){ $(this).closest(".fieldSelector").append( $('<option></option>').val(item.formId).html(item.formLabel) ); }); }); }); return false; });

  • How do I automatically update hundreds of images in an HTML page using jquery?

    - by Chris
    I have an HTML page where I want to refresh a lot of images every 30 seconds after the HTML page has been downloaded. I understand how to do this with Jquery and a single image, but I want to use about 200 custom urls to determine the current image to display for over 200 images. I need to find an efficient way to have jquery call the custom url associated with each image to download the url for the needed image as it changes, and then update the image in the page when it changes. Current hyperlink example to demonstrate the custom urls. <A href="/urlThatReturnsCurrentImageURL/1234/4567">link to url for image</A> Each custom url will return an image tag like this (or any other text that makes this simpler for jquery) <img src="/static/someImage.jpg"> What is the simplest way to have jquery call the custom url for each image to download the image url, image html, or some other text that jquery can use to download the right image every 30 seconds? Please keep in mind that I will have about 200 of these on a page.

  • Make jquery array out of div

    - by Industrial
    Hi everyone, Each div with the class "row" is added upon request from the user, to be able to add multiple items at once. So now is the question how I'll collect all the forms in to an array that PHP can read (like JSON for instance). I'll guess that there's already some easy and effective way of doing this? <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <input type="text" name="value1" id="textfield" /> <input type="text" name="value2" id="textfield" /> <input type="text" name="value3" id="textfield" /> </div> </div> Here's what I would like to achieve out of the shown example: array( array ('value1' => '', 'value2' => '', 'value3' => '') ); Thanks!

  • jQuery toggle() with unknown initial state

    - by Jason Morhardt
    I have a project that I am working on that uses a little image to mark a record as a favorite on multiple rows in a table. The data gets pulled from a DB and the image is based on whether or not that item is a favorite. One image for a favorite, a different image if not a favorite. I want the user to be able to toggle the image and make it a favorite or not. Here's my code: $(function () { $('.FavoriteToggle').toggle( function () { $(this).find("img").attr({src:"../../images/icons/favorite.png"}); var ListText = $(this).find('.FavoriteToggleIcon').attr("title"); var ListID = ListText.match(/\d+/); $.ajax({ url: "include/AJAX.inc.php", type: "GET", data: "action=favorite&ItemType=0&ItemID=" + ListID, success: function () {} }); }, function () { $(this).find("img").attr({src:"../../images/icons/favorite_not.png"}); var ListText = $(this).find('.FavoriteToggleIcon').attr("title"); var ListID = ListText.match(/\d+/); $.ajax({ url: "include/AJAX.inc.php", type: "GET", data: "action=favorite&ItemType=0&ItemID=" + ListID, success: function () {} }); } ); }); Works great if the initial state is not a favorite. But you have to double click to get the image to change if it IS a favorite initially. This causes the AJAX to fire twice and essentially make it a favorite then not a favorite before the image responds. The user thinks he's made it a favorite because the image changed, but in fact, it's not. Help anybody?

  • Can't get jQuery to get focus on cloned input fields

    - by Rebel1Moon
    I have a page that needs to create dynamic form fields as often as the user needs, and I am trying to use Ajax to tie it in to my database for faster form entry and to prevent user typos. So, I have put my Ajax returned data into popup div, the user selects, then the form field is filled in. The problem comes on the cloned fields. They don't seem to want to bring up the popup div when focused. I am thinking it is something to do with when they get created/added to the DOM. Here is my JS that creates the clones: $(document).ready(function() { var regex = /^(.*)(\d)+$/i; var cloneIndex = $(".clonedInput").length; $("button.clone").live("click", function(){ $(this).parents(".clonedInput").clone() .appendTo("#course_container") .attr("id", "clonedInput" + cloneIndex) .find("*").each(function() { var id = this.id || ""; var match = id.match(regex) || []; if (match.length == 3) { this.id = match[1] + (cloneIndex); } }); cloneIndex++; numClones=cloneIndex-1; //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); Here is where I expect to be able to get focus on the correct cloned field and call the popup. The baker_equiv0 id is original code, whereas baker_equiv1 is the first clone. $('#baker_equiv0').focus(function() { \\ THIS CODE WORKS $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); // document.enter_data.baker_equiv1.value="test"; THIS LINE WORKS //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); $('#baker_equiv1').focus(function() { // THIS DOESN'T EVER FIRE alert("numClones "+numClones); $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); }); Here is the HTML with the form: <label for="baker_equiv" class="">Baker Equivalent: <span class="requiredField">*</span></label> <input type="text" class="cinputsa" name="baker_equiv[]" id="baker_equiv0" size="8" ONKEYUP="get_equiv(this.value);"> If I put this in the HTML code above, it works fine: onfocus="alert(this.id)" I'd also be interested in how to adjust the JS code to work based on the id array created rather than having to copy code for each potential set of fields clones, i.e., baker_equiv[] rather than baker_equiv0, baker_equiv1, etc. Thanks all!

  • JQUERY: Multiplying input elements select box and radio boxes and hidden inputs

    - by Andrew Tan
    Evening, I'm tyring to multiply different input elements but for some reason it's giving me a NAND error. As the user selects, check or modify the values of any element. This should change the total amount. http://jsfiddle.net/aQ5K8/ <select name="select"> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> </select> <input name="radio" type="radio" id="radio" value="10" tvalue="100" /> <input name="radio" type="radio" id="radio" value="20" tvalue="200" /> <label id="Total"></label> Also if you take a look at the jsfiddle code i have tvalue=100 and the other is =200 as a custom attributes, how would I access that instead of accessing the regular html value. Thank you.

  • jQuery resize event for div children

    - by Frank Michael Kraft
    $("div.content-left > *, div.content-main > *" ).live('resize',function(){alert("Size changed")}); does not work, because the resize event only applies to window resizes. But in my case the divs change size late, because the content is loaded late by an ajax request - or by clicking a panel menu. I definatley need to avoid to register on all individual events of the children (ajax, click), because that can be very many different events and then it is not maintainable.

  • Jquery each function promblem.

    - by Cesar Lopez
    I have the following function: var emptyFields = false; function checkNotEmpty(tblName, columns, className){ emptyFields = false; $("."+className+"").each(function() { if($.trim($(this).val()) === "" &amp;&amp; $(this).is(":visible")){ emptyFields = true; return false; // break out of the each-loop } }); if (emptyFields) { alert("Please fill in current row before adding a new one.") } else { AddRow_OnButtonClick(tblName,columns); } } Its checking that all elements in the table are not empty before adding a new row, and I only need to check that the last row of the table has at least an element which its not empty and not the whole table. The className its applied to the table. Please notice, that the problem I have its checking the last row and only one element of the row has to have some text in it. (e.g. each row has 5 textboxes at least one textbox need to have some text inside in order to be able to add another row, otherwise, the alert comes up). Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

  • jQuery: part of a function not executing

    - by SODA
    Hi. I have a tabbed setup on the page and I want to automatically make corresponding menu tab highlighted as well as corresponding content div show depending on # hash. Example: http://design.vitalbmx.com/user_menu/member_profile_so.html -- no hash, opens 1st tab http://design.vitalbmx.com/user_menu/member_profile_so.html#setup -- #setup, should open "Setup" tab As you can see it works for highlighting "Setup" tab. But content div does not change. The script is below: var tab_content_current = 1; switch (window.location.hash) { case '#activity': tab_content_current = 1; break; case '#friends': tab_content_current = 2; break; case '#photos': tab_content_current = 3; break; case '#videos': tab_content_current = 4; break; case '#setup': tab_content_current = 5; break; case '#forum': tab_content_current = 6; break; case '#blog': tab_content_current = 7; break; case '#comments': tab_content_current = 8; break; case '#favorites': tab_content_current = 9; break; case '#profile-comments': tab_content_current = 10; break; default: tab_content_current = 1; } if (tab_content_current != 1) { change_active_tab (tab_content_current); } function tabs_toggle (id) { if (id != tab_content_current) { change_active_tab (id); tab_content_current = id; } } function change_active_tab (id) { $j('.profile_tabs li').removeClass('active'); if (id < 8) $j('.profile_tab_'+id).addClass('active'); $j('.profile_content').hide(); $j('#profile_content_'+id).fadeIn(); } Note that it works when you actually click menu tabs. Any help to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.
