  • unobtrusive "default" text in input WITHOUT jQuery

    - by Adam Kiss
    Hello, i'm trying to write unobtrusive default/placeholder text in input (actually, relatively placed label over input, which hides on onFocus, and stays hidden if input isn't empty on onBlur), but I don't want to use jQuery, because this is the only javascript used on page - therefore using jQuery seems a bit over the top. Please, how can I do this without jQuery? Thank you.

  • Any way to find out which line break char(s) to use in Javascript?

    - by Irro
    I'm trying to parse some text into a textarea control and at the same time replace all with ordinary line break chars. I have been able to do it in windows by replacing with CR (it didn't work with CRLF strangely enough, it gave me linebreak + empty space) but I'm afraid that this code won't work in Unix/Mac because they use LF for line break. Is there any way to use the system default line break char in javascript? Something similar to Environment.NewLine in .Net (I wasn't able to write backslash in this editor but I use /r for CR and /n for LF, replace / with backslash)

  • I need a simple slideshow for images of different sizes

    - by Darryl Young
    I'm looking for a very basic slideshow which displays images of various sizes. For example, the first image could be a standard 800x600 but the next might be a taller portrait image and so on. The slideshow doesn't need to have any controls. The specification just states that the page will be black and in the centre there'll be the area where images will display. As far as I know, it will be very simple like this - www.jeffcutter.net. I'm limited on time here so I'm not able to look into writing a custom one or anything like that. I just need to get some images displaying like in the example. Thanks in advance, it's much appreciated. Have a great weekend! Regards.

  • Reducing lag when downloading large amount of data from webpage

    - by Mahir
    I am getting data via RSS feeds and displaying each article in a table view cell. Each cell has an image view, set to a default image. If the page has an image, the image is to be replaced with the image from the article. As of now, each cell downloads the source code from the web page, causing the app to lag when I push the view controller and when I try scrolling. Here is what I have in the cellForRowAtIndexPath: method. NSString * storyLink = [[stories objectAtIndex: storyIndex] objectForKey: @"link"]; storyLink = [storyLink stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]; NSString *sourceCode = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:storyLink] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; NSString *startPt = @"instant-gallery"; NSString *startPt2 = @"<img src=\""; if ([sourceCode rangeOfString:startPt].length != 0) { //webpage has images // find the first "<img src=...>" tag starting from "instant-gallery" NSString *trimmedSource = [sourceCode substringFromIndex:NSMaxRange([sourceCode rangeOfString:startPt])]; trimmedSource = [trimmedSource substringFromIndex:NSMaxRange([trimmedSource rangeOfString:startPt2])]; trimmedSource = [trimmedSource substringToIndex:[trimmedSource rangeOfString:@"\""].location]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:trimmedSource]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; cell.picture.image = image; Someone suggested using NSOperationQueue. Would this way be a good solution? EDIT: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *MyIdentifier = @"FeedCell"; LMU_LAL_FeedCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"LMU_LAL_FeedCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = (LMU_LAL_FeedCell*) [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } int storyIndex = [indexPath indexAtPosition: [indexPath length] - 1]; NSString *untrimmedTitle = [[stories objectAtIndex: storyIndex] objectForKey: @"title"]; cell.title.text = [untrimmedTitle stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceCharacterSet]]; CGSize maximumLabelSize = CGSizeMake(205,9999); CGSize expectedLabelSize = [cell.title.text sizeWithFont:cell.title.font constrainedToSize:maximumLabelSize]; //adjust the label to the the new height. • How best to make a link submit a form.

    - by nickf
    What's the best way to get a regular anchor (<a href="...">) to submit the form it is embedded in when clicked? <form> <ul> <li> <p> The link could be <span>embedded <a href="" onclick="?">at any level</a></span> in the form, so "this.parentNode.parentNode..." is no good. :( </p> </li> </ul> </form> I know that the easiest way using jQuery would be $('#myLink').click(function() { $(this).parents('form:first').submit(); }); ...but I'm trying to find a way to do this without using a library. Edit: I'm really trying to find a method which doesn't require knowledge of the form (eg: its name, id, etc). This would be similar to how you could put this on an input element: <input onclick="this.form.submit()" />

  • Checkbox not checking inside div in Firefox

    - by mike
    Weird problem. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this? I have a checkbox inside a div. It works fine in IE but not Firefox. I have to click the space around the checkbox that is occupied by the div (sort of like a label) for the checkbox to tick on and off. Directly clicking the checkbox does not show it as ticked on or off, even though in firebug it is showing that it is in a checked state and an unchecked state. Only in FF does this happen.....

  • Saving data that is in a table efficiently and also is easy to retrieve and echo back out

    - by Harry
    Information I currently have a table which image is below, Problem I have made this table using ul & li Here is the code http://jsfiddle.net/8j2qe/1/ Question What would be the best way of storing the data in the image and easily displaying it? Keeping in mind that each column can only have 1 entry. Thank you! And any questions will be answered ASAP! EDIT Sorry, I dont think I was clear enough in my initial question. What I am asking is, what is the best way to store and then display this type of data. I want to DISPLAY data from my database to show like it would in the image. Should I have a column in my database for each column on the table, then say either A,B,C or D depending on what column it is in but then how would I display it using PHP in my code provided? Im struggling to find a good way of explaining this, I am sorry.

  • SEO Problem for new dictionary site, google hasn't indexed content.

    - by John
    I loaded about 15,000 pages, letters A & B of a dictionary and submitted to google a text site map. I'm using google's search with advertisement as the planned mechanism to go through my site. Google's webmaster accepted the site mapps as good but then did not index. My index page has been indexed by google and at this point have not linked to any pages. So to get google's search to work I need to get all my content indexed. It appears google will not just index from the site map and so I was thinking of adding pages that spider in links from the main index page. But I don't want to create a bunch of pages that programicly link all of the pages without knowing if this has a chance to work. Eventually I plan on having about 150,000 pages each page being a word or phrase being defined. I wrote a program that is pulling this from a dictionary database. I would like to prove the content that I have to anyone interested to show the value of the dictionary in releation to the dictionary software that I'm completing. Suggestions for getting the entire site indexed by google so I can appear in the search results? Thanks

  • Canvas scalable arc position

    - by Amay
    http://jsfiddle.net/cs5Sg/11/ I want to do the scalable canvas. I created two circles (arcs) and one line, when you click on circle and move it, the line will follow and change position. The problem is when I added code for resize: var canvas = document.getElementById('myCanvas'), context = canvas.getContext('2d'), radius = 12, p = null, point = { p1: { x:100, y:250 }, p2: { x:400, y:100 } }, moving = false; window.addEventListener("resize", OnResizeCalled, false); function OnResizeCalled() { var gameWidth = window.innerWidth; var gameHeight = window.innerHeight; var scaleToFitX = gameWidth / 800; var scaleToFitY = gameHeight / 480; var currentScreenRatio = gameWidth / gameHeight; var optimalRatio = Math.min(scaleToFitX, scaleToFitY); if (currentScreenRatio >= 1.77 && currentScreenRatio <= 1.79) { canvas.style.width = gameWidth + "px"; canvas.style.height = gameHeight + "px"; } else { canvas.style.width = 800 * optimalRatio + "px"; canvas.style.height = 480 * optimalRatio + "px"; } } function init() { return setInterval(draw, 10); } canvas.addEventListener('mousedown', function(e) { for (p in point) { var mouseX = e.clientX - 1, mouseY = e.clientY - 1, distance = Math.sqrt(Math.pow(mouseX - point[p].x, 2) + Math.pow(mouseY - point[p].y, 2)); if (distance <= radius) { moving = p; break; } } }); canvas.addEventListener('mouseup', function(e) { moving = false; }); canvas.addEventListener('mousemove', function(e) { if(moving) { point[moving].x = e.clientX - 1; point[moving].y = e.clientY - 1; } }); function draw() { context.clearRect(0, 0, canvas.width, canvas.height); context.beginPath(); context.moveTo(point.p1.x,point.p1.y); context.lineTo(point.p2.x,point.p2.y); context.closePath(); context.fillStyle = '#8ED6FF'; context.fill(); context.stroke(); for (p in point) { context.beginPath(); context.arc(point[p].x,point[p].y,radius,0,2*Math.PI); context.fillStyle = 'red'; context.fill(); context.stroke(); } context.closePath(); } init(); The canvas is scalable, but the problem is with the points (circles). When you change the window size, they still have the same position on the canvas area, but the distance change (so the click option fails). How to fix that?

  • Javascript autocomplete function href

    I´ve the following javascript-function: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { var data = (<?php include("php/search_new.php"); ?>).Data.Recipes; var source = []; for (var i in data) { source.push({"href": "/php/get_recipe_byID.php?id=" + data[i].ID, "label": data[i].TITLE}); } $("#searchrecipes").autocomplete({ minLength: 3, source: source, select: function(event, ui) { window.location.href = ui.item.href; } }); }); </script> <input id="searchrecipes" type="text" name="searchrecipes" style="margin-left: 850px; margin-top: 0px; width:170px; background: #fff url(images/search_icon.png) no-repeat 100%;" onblur="this.style.background='#ffffff'; background: #fff url(images/search_icon.png) no-repeat 100%;" onfocus="this.style.background='#c40606'; background: url(images/search_icon.png) no-repeat 100%;" placeholder="Suchen..."></input> <input type="submit" name="buttonsenden" style="display:none;" value="" width: 5px></input> The function has already worked but suddenly it stopped working. The problem is, that the href on the dropdown-autocomplete isn´t clickable. var data = ({"Data":{"Recipes":{"Recipe_5":{"ID":"5","TITLE":"Spaghetti Bolognese"},"Recipe_7":{"ID":"7","TITLE":"Wurstel"},"Recipe_9":{"ID":"9","TITLE":"Schnitzel"},"Recipe_10":{"ID":"10","TITLE":null},"Recipe_19":{"ID":"19","TITLE":null},"Recipe_20":{"ID":"20","TITLE":"Hundefutter"},"Recipe_26":{"ID":"26","TITLE":"Apfelstrudel"},"Recipe_37":{"ID":"37","TITLE":null},"Recipe_38":{"ID":"38","TITLE":"AENDERUNG"},"Recipe_39":{"ID":"39","TITLE":null},"Recipe_40":{"ID":"40","TITLE":"Schnitzel"},"Recipe_42":{"ID":"42","TITLE":"Release-Test"},"Recipe_43":{"ID":"43","TITLE":"Wurstel2"}}},"Message":null,"Code":200}).Data.Recipes; All the necessary jquery scripts are available. What can be the problem?

  • How to centre list-items in a column

    - by unknowndomain
    Hey all, I am trying to centre page numbers at the bottom of this test blog... http://jocelynwarner.com/test/ in the centre between the previous and next buttons however I cannot think how to do it, I tried a few different tutorials but they didn't really seem to help with this. Any hints on how to make them sit centrally in the left column (the width of the blog content - sidebar) would be greatly appreciated.

  • Javascript: why I cannot load my external js page in Drupal ?

    - by Patrick
    hi, when I add the tag script to load an external javascript file, my page is not longer displayed. There are not error in Firebug, there are not errors such as "File not found" or "Not enough permissions", the browser just displays a blank page for some reason. <?php print $head; ?> <?php print $styles; ?> <?php print $scripts; ?> <script type="text/JavaScript" src="main.js" /> If I remove the last line everything works perfectly. The previous php lines are the standard Drupal head lines. This is the content of my js file: $(document).ready( function() { alert("hello"); }); thanks

  • Position DIV relative to containing DIV Without Moving Other Stuff

    - by yar
    [I'm not sure if this question has been asked, though I've looked around a bit.] I have a DIV inside a DIV. I would like the inner DIV to have a certain position inside the outer div. I'm having some success with this position: absolute; top: 0px;right:0px; but all other divs are getting moved around. I just want it to float on top of the other stuff (float didn't work, of course). Thanks! Edit: The outer div is relative, and I'd like the inner to move with it when the browser is resized. Edit: Sorry, I've figured out the question (but not the answer): if I use right:0px, the inner div stops moving relative to the outer div and starts moving relative to the browser window. Why would that be?

  • Bootstrap inline button dropdown within <p> jumbotron

    - by C.B.
    Currently I have a jumbotron setup with some paragraph text, and I would like to stick a button dropdown inline with the text. Dropdown button <span class="btn-group"> <button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown"> Button... <span class="caret"></span> </button> <ul class="dropdown-menu" role="menu"> <li><a href="#">Opt 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Opt 2</a></li> </ul> </span> Jumbotron <div class="jumbotron"> <h1>Hello!</h1> <p>Welcome</p> <p>Another paragraph <!-- dropdown is here --> </p> </div> <!-- jumbotron --> If the dropdown is within the <p> tag, it does not "dropdown" (but renders). If it is outside of the <p> tag it functions fine, but I would like it to be inline with the text and need the text to be in the <p> tag to get the style. Any ideas? Things to note -- If I replace the <span> tags with <div> tags, it will work fine within the <p> tags, but won't be inline.

  • change php variable on click event

    - by Claudiu
    I want to change php variable ($start and $end called by var b1 and var b2) if the user clicks on button. Now I know that php is server side, but how can I do it? I read something about using $get but I don't know how to implement it: <?php if ( is_user_logged_in() ) { ?> <input type="submit" value="Start Chat" id="start_chat" style="position: absolute; top: 30px; left: 10px;" /> <?php } ?> <script> jQuery('#start_chat').click(function(){ $(this).data('clicked', true); }); var b1 = '<?php echo $start; ?>'; var b2 = '<?php echo $end; ?>'; if(jQuery('#start_chat').data('clicked')) { // change var b1 and b2 } else { // do not change anything } </script> <div id="eu_la"> <?php $start = strtotime('9:30'); $end = strtotime('12:30'); $timenow = date('U'); if((date('w') == 4) && ($timenow >= $start && $timenow <= $end)) { // day 2 = Tuesday include('facut_mine.php'); } else { do_shortcode('[upzslider usingphp=true]'); } ?>

  • save jQuerry changes to css file on server

    - by KrisRogo
    I'm developing a system that allows for changing some of the css parameters without accessing the code. To achieve that I have jQuerry objects like sliders and draggers which influence how the site looks user side, eg. $("#MainContent").css("width", "55%");. Now I need a way to append those changes to a .css file on the server. Let me clarify that this is sort of a CMS system, and only administrator of the system would have this option, not the visitors of user-end site. I realise that .css is one for all users. Ideal solution would connect to the server every time user makes a change, and replace only one line of css code. But I have no idea how to do it efficiently or if it at all possible.

  • How to Vertically Center Icons on a Line?

    - by jeremy
    What's the best way to center icons on a line when the icons are smaller than the line height? For example (styles inline for easier reading): <div style="line-height: 20px"> <img style="width: 12px; height: 12px;"/> Blah blah blah </div> I want the img to be centered on a single line of the div, above. That is, even if the text wrapped to multiple lines, the image would be centered against a single line. Ideally, the solution would not involve setting margings/paddings on the image and would work even if I didn't know the line-height. Things I've read: How do I vertically align text next to an image with CSS? (deals with case where image is larger, doesn't seem to apply here) Understanding vertical-align
