  • big background without scrolls

    I have layout that has wider background picture than the content area. I have made 970ppx wrapper where the content is. And in body I have backgroud image but I need to have anothen background image above of tht body background image so I have made class bgimg. So basically the markup is like this: But the bgimg is about 1050px wide and thus it gives scrolls when users browser is 1024x768. Is there way of getting rid the scrolls? I mean I want to have have scrollbars if users browrser is narrower thant the 970x wrapper of course. So can I put something like overflow hidden for bgimg class? Hopefully you did understannd what I mean.

  • Chrome not displaying a div

    Click here to see a simple example of what I want. It's really easy, but for some reason Google won't display the "subTotalCaption2" div. It's part of a foreach loop, if needed I can add other codes. There is nothing else in the rest of the css to mess with this, I have checked about 10 times.     hi, when I add the tag script to load an external javascript file, my page is not longer displayed. There are not error in Firebug, there are not errors such as "File not found" or "Not enough permissions", the browser just displays a blank page for some reason. <?php print $head; ?> <?php print $styles; ?> <?php print $scripts; ?> <script type="text/JavaScript" src="main.js" /> If I remove the last line everything works perfectly.   • Position DIV relative to containing DIV Without Moving Other Stuff

    [I'm not sure if this question has been asked, though I've looked around a bit.] I have a DIV inside a DIV. I would like the inner DIV to have a certain position inside the outer div. I'm having some success with this position: absolute; top: 0px;right:0px; but all other divs are getting moved around. I just want it to float on top of the other stuff (float didn't work, of course). Thanks! Edit: The outer div is relative, and I'd like the inner to move with it when the browser is resized. Edit: Sorry, I've figured out the question (but not the answer): if I use right:0px, the inner div stops moving relative to the outer div and starts moving relative to the browser window. Why would that be?

    I'm learning about PHP sessions for user authentication on my website. I know how to restrict the viewing of a complete page using sessions (simply check if the 'uid' session variable is set and if it is, show content, if not redirect to an error). However I'm trying to figure out the best way to selectively show and hide different objects (div, text, images) based on if a user is logged in or not. Is it as simple as checking for the 'uid' session variable and displaying based on if it set or not? Is there a more efficient way of doing this id there are a lot of conditional elements on a page?

    Hello, I tried to display a image when a mouseover on text occurs. It works fine. And the alignment of the image should be shown such that the end of the image should be at the container. It works fine with the code shown below, Only in IE7. In everything, it gets chopped off..     Can someone help me with creation of a url preview script in javascript? What I mean is this. Say I have a link on my site, I want the user to be able to mouse over the link, and have an image pop up that shows what the target of the link looks like. Don't worry about the css, I got that working, I just need the actual script to show the image. Currently I am doing it by showing up an iframe that actually renders the page, but this is not scalable and looks ugly. No, having the page display premade images is not an option, since the links will be linking to dynamically generated user content. thanks

    I have an arrow on my site that I'd like if onclick, it hides one element, and shows another. Hitting it again, will hide the element that was shown and show the element that was hidden. Is that possible to do without jQuery?   • CSS file in a Spring WAR returns a 404

    I have a J2EE application that I am building with Spring and Maven. It has the usual project structure. Here is a bit of the hierarchy. MyApplication src main webapp WEB-INF layout header.jsp styles main.css I want to include that CSS file in my JSP. I have the following tag in place. <c:url var="styleSheetUrl" value="/styles/main.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="${styleSheetUrl}"> When I deploy the application, the CSS page isn't being located. When I view the page source, the href is /MyApplication/styles/main.css. Looking inside the WAR, there is a /styles/main.css. However, I get a 404 when I try to access the CSS file directly in the browser. I discovered that the reason for the issue was the Dispatcher Servlet mapping. The mapping looks as follows. <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Spring MVC Dispatcher Servlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> I imagine the Dispatcher Servlet doesn't know how to handle the CSS request. What is the best way to handle this issue? I would rather not have to change all of my request mappings.

    I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

    This question asks about file name the servers sends and the fix was quite simply a content-disposition header in the http response. What I interested in is does anyone know of any way to do this from the client side if the file name is already known? Is there any special javascript to do this for example? A site I have to use but not mine has a FileDownload.aspx but it doesn't send the content-disposition header. I know the filename and would like to be able to create a firefox extensions to use for the poorly coded web site. Thanks
